blankets and pillows on redeye flight

We will be traveling on the redeye flight from San Francisco to Orlando, stopping over in Atlanta on May 31-June 1. We will be traveling with the kids (9, 5, 3, 1). Are there usually a lot of pillows and blankets available for these flights? Should I bring something of my own for them to be a little more comfortable (beach towels, blankets, travel pillows)? Also, anyone know how clean they are? I am trying not to carry too much with the new carryon limitations. Thanks in advance for responses.

from FL to LA and back again with a 3 yr.old...and I couldn't believe it but on 2 of the segments I flew on there were NO pillows or blankets to be found....The flight was packed to the gills...so I know it takes up more room but if your children have favorite blankets I would bring them...

Are you flying NW by chance?

We just took a trip to the Fl Panhandale from Mn. We flew NW with two connections, 6 glights altogether.

They had plenty of blankets and pillows for everyone.

Are you allowed preboarding with the kids? If so, you should immediately ask for or take blankets and pillows out of the bins for yourself.

As far as cleaniliness, I would doubt they are cleaned after every flight.

I would definitely buy some travel pillows or the inflatable kind. I would never, I repeat never put my head or my child's head on a pillow that has been used by the public. I'm way too paranoid about you know what! I can't even say the word I think it'll jinx me!! I'm even leary about using pillows at the resorts but I'm sure they're clean.:eek:

Unless you are flying first class, most definitely bring on your own pillows and blankets.

Seldom if ever are there enough pillows and blankets to go around in coach. And there is no way I'd put my head on one of the pillows. At most I'll use it as lumbar support.

Bring their bedroom pillows from home, and as another poster suggested, beach towels make great blankets for the plane.

I flew a Delta red eye years ago, and they did not have pillows and blanets for everyone. It was actually quite difficult to get a pillow (you had to grab it when boarding) and I did not see any blankets.

I flew US Airways a couple months ago, first class on a daytime 2 hour flight, and they did have a few pillows and blankets (the FA said that they aren't providing them in coach anymore, not sure if it is just the shorter routes or what).
