Okay, John or Kevin asked about activities we'd like to see on the cruise during the chat Wednesday night.

Well, from what I've been reading, I think we should open our own, private casino. I can bring the cards - aren't there some tables in the Roy and Walt Suites????

I need to think on this one...

The most obvious would be to record a podcast with all of us in the peanut gallery, but they probably thought of that already.

Drink
Find Will
Moegeetoe Tasting
Ringaround the Cistern
Bar Tours with Corey
Find your cabin after doing Bar Tours with Corey

There have to be a few more activities to keep us occupied......

I don't think we should expect them to do a live podcast from the cruise -- because that would be work and they want to have a good time just like the rest of us. :goodvibes

I wasn't thinking doing a regular podcast but maybe a Q&A podcast that would be different. I doubt it would be broadcast live so they wouldn't have to do the production until after the cruise, and that is probably the labor intensive part.

Another idea is doing a trivia challenge with the prize being dinner at Palo with the podcast crew?

I love that idea!!!
Only problem is my DH would think I was a nut wanting to dine with a bunch of "strangers". Oh well, I guess he can wait in the cabin for me. ;)

sock puppets

fashion show

clown parade

story time with Kevin

primitive weapons and flammable liquids with Corey and Julie (which actually is in conjunction with Bar Tours "the attack of tequila" held in the duty free shop)

...

classic activity tournaments while lame and goofy would be a lot of fun, like shuffle board, badminton, euchre, bridge, bingo, hide and seek, etc.

I'm assuming that there will be coordinated meet and greets for all of the DIS boarders on the cruise? I know our group is so large that this will be difficult to coordinate.

Not activities, but things I've been thinking about...
It would be great if DU sent (or distributed) all of us some sort of tag/lanyard designation that we could wear throughout the cruise to identify ourselves to our fellow podcast cruisers. I saw it mentioned somewhere else - but I had totally thought of it too - it would be really cool to have magnet signs or something to put on our stateroom doors (if we wanted to of course) to designate ourselves as podcast cruisers.

An activity idea would be an informal schedule of suggested group activities, i.e., XXX night in XXX bar at XXX p.m., adult cruisers should plan to meet up with other podcast cruisers. There could be one of these per day. They wouldn't require any hosting or coordinating, just a distribution of the proposed schedule so we could all connect if we wanted to.

Personally, I'd love a tour of that suite - but that seems a little pushy and invasive. :rotfl:

With green pixie unitards and sequined camo bikinis we certainly have the makings of a very interesting fashion show. Just add rum.....

I'm not nervous about meeting people -- but I am a bit self-conscious about what people will think when they meet me as I know we all kind of get this idea of what someone looks like in our heads...but then they are totally different in person. I was finally brave enough to post a photo a few days ago...of course, it was taken over 20 years ago...LOL.

No, I am really excited. I've had the pleasure of meeting Ursula, MommyC , WildOscar and I am sure a few others in addition to the Podcast crew. And let me not forget, the fabulous Tracy, the greatest TA the DU has!

I am really looking forward to meeting the rest of you and hanging out together for a few days.

that's so true - about getting an idea in our heads about people..
like when you first speak with people on the phone and then meet them in person...usually not at all what you imagined...

but no matter, i know we're all going to have a great time...

you can see my picture on my my space website if you like (in the slide show on the right hand side)..
though my hair is a bit different now, but that's basically the way i look....

and you can see DH, DD, and DS (though they're probably not going to be on the cruise - just my mom and sister)..

This isnít really an activity but on the W.I.S.H. boards there was a thread just before the Minnie Marathon weekend where people could post their pictures so everyone know what everyone looked like. Once we get to January or so maybe there should be a thread where we put our real first names and a picture of ourselves so at least there is some face recognition.

Of course this would be voluntary.

I was thinking this too. When we do parrothead "phlockings" you get a lanyard tag with the event logo, name, and nickname (or DIS name) on the front and on the back is what the scheduled events are, bands, etc. It's usually just laminated paper, not too costly. And a great souvie. We have all our parrothead ones on one lanyard each and can flip through where we've been. Kinda like a portable scrapbook!

Is anyone else kinda nervous about meeting everyone? Don't get me wrong, I am very excited. Its just all this talk about specific events has me thinking more and more.

We've met people at WDW before from the boards, and after a starter "awkward" stage have had a great time with them. Heck, we met Kevin mid-rant and I wouldn't have traded that for anything!:lmao: It made my Christmas trip!:rotfl2:

I for one will be ready to meet everyone by the time this thing rolls around! I love getting to know everyone's personality! I just hope I don't disappoint. When I sit here and type I can delete the dorky stuff before posting.....not always the case when you meet me in person.

Nervous? Really?

Geez, you'd think we were creepy or scary or something.......

Think? no...... Know, yes......but I'm right there with the next guy. That'd prolly be Rick and yeah, he can be kinda creepy.:rotfl:

i was just looking at your times for the half marathon and 5K....wow....you're good...
i was thinking of doing the full marathon - mainly because a good friend of mine says it's so totally cool to run through all 4 parks....but i won't be able to run it...just walk (the pace isn't too demanding...you're required to finish in 7 hours).....

Thanks for the compliment. I think you (or anyone) would love the run/walk/jog through the parks. I will be doing the full at some time in the future...maybe 2010...but eventually.

Feel free to drop by the W.I.S.H. boards for advice or motivation.

Back to the cruise though, I echo your sentiments about the non-DISers on the cruise. Do you think we'll have enough people to mutiny and just plan our own 4 day itinerary?

I'm awful with names...thus everyone's KIM. I'll forget your backgrounds, you'll forget mine (if I've ever told you in the first place ;) ). All you really need to know about all of us, and all I really need to know about you, is that we share a common love of Disney, and the DIS. The friendships will develop after we meet.

I know there are a lot of you out there that I THINK I know, but really, this is just your online personae that I'm going by. There are only a couple of you that I've met, and know I like already, and can't wait to see again. All the rest of you are either potential BFFs, or people I want to know better. Or Oskey.

When I say 'background' I mean all the stuff that's been said on the DISboards. Like, I know you're Mindy and you have this obsession for your DD to hook up with Will and you have (or are in the process of creating) a cistern to make damn sure this happens...."it rubs the lotion on its skin". ;) AND you won a spot on the podcast cruise. AND you seem like a very down to earth chick with a great sense of humor. That's about it and it's a LOT more than I can remember about most folks here. You made a reference about 'Kim' to me in another post and I was like  . I thought it was an inside joke I wasn't privy to but didn't want to ask and look like a dork. Because, to be honest, I SHOULD know as I'm on the boards for hours DAILY. :rolleyes1 I get it now! BUT, I have no idea what "Jason (aka Kim)" means in Menasha Corp's signature. ANYWAY, thanks for the reply. I'm looking forward to meeting someone that has their very own genuINE CISTERN!! :thumbsup2

Frequent posters? I can start you off:

UrsulasShadow - Mindy/Kim - Intelligent, wry type who is digging a cistern to contain Webmaster Will, her future son-in-law.

wildeoscar - Rex/Kim - Posed in camo bikini top with sparkles, drove to Universal and successfully stalked Pete to win a podcast cruise.

kab407 - Kathy/Kim - Met Bawb in the parks and got a photo sitting on KahtKam. Looking forward to burning work stress off with minty drinks.

calypso*a*go-go - Lisa/Kim - Sexy voice, loves slurpees...and Moe-gee-toes.

dpuck1998 - Don/Kim - Took son's friend to WDW last-minute when son "accidentally" invited him, nicest thing in recent memory.

mommyceratops - Kim/Kim - Kevin's BFF, rumored to own (contraband) pictures of said celebrities.

StrollerBoy - Superhero fighting for the DIS way. Former sidekick of KahtMan.

On second thought, Mindy's right - It's not about board history; it's all about love of Disney. (Diss-ney?) With the Podcast crew planning things, We/You are guaranteed to have fun. :goodvibes

As for my current siggie, Kevin made the observation that the DIS seemed to have an abundance of Kims. So we are all Kim, in a way. Even the boys (like me!!) ;)

You know me!

Small correction: it's my kids that love slurpees (they just use me for my wheels and/or money!).

BTW J/K...Jackie aka BRobson thinks you're a lady! Apparently she doesn't realize you're actually Kathy/Kim's personal towel monkey. LOL

Thank You Lisa/Kim!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

At first I was thinking nametags, but just calling everyone Kim is much easier - good thinking :thumbsup2

that totally works for me, since Beth isn't my real name....it's not even a nickname....just something that some people occasionally think might be a nickname....so i picked it to make life easier for people on the board...(and there are no possible rhymes with sarah cues to help)...

Katie, who'll be on the podcast cruise and whom i met on our first cruise (after meeting her on the boards), knows my real name....and i'm sure she'll attest to the fact that Kim would be a major improvement....

OK, I'm not going on the cruise (Unless I win one or someone wants to pay my way so that all of you can enjoy my FABULOUS personality!! ;) ) but I have a suggestion..

why not set up a thread where everyone who is attending the podcast cruise can put a little blurb up about themselves... just saying your name, what interests you have, what you want to do on the cruise.... or just any information you want people to know about you..

it could all be on one long thread that way if people wanted to they could read it and at least know a bit about the people they are crusing with before the time comes.

just my 2 cents. Oh, and I love the disney trivia win a dinner with the podcast crew idea!

You all got me more nervous than I was before. Is there gonna be a test on all these things? Lets see if I can get this straight...............Ursula*a*go-go has a sexy voice and is stalking Will, Wildstrollerboy is a superhero in a bikini top with sparkles that stalks Pete. KabCeratops drinks minty drinks while stalking Kevin and her son tell everyone about it. Damn, I knew I wouldn't pass! I do know one thing......there definitely is a stalking theme going on.
I got a game for the Cruise, who can guess how many restraining orders will be in place by the time we get back.:rotfl:

Don't tease us Wish...you know we'd love to have you join our wild and crazy bunch on the cruise!!!!

My DH is convinced that we're all a bunch of nutcases. I will hop onto the boards and read the latest whatever someone's posted in regards to the cruise and start laughing. I try to explain it to him and he just looks at me like i've grown three heads or something. :rotfl: I'm trying to get him to start posting over here, but he doesn't have the time right now. I'll keep trying...he's got to understand the backstories before he meets you guys!

:rolleyes1 Wait...on second thought...if he comes over here and sees that we truly are a bunch of nutcases...then he may reconsider this whole podcast cruise thing...:scared1:

Tracy, for those who don't already know, is the DU agent who answers ANY question within minutes, gets about TWO hours of sleep a night because she's always on the job.... even in podcast chat...

honestly you don't.....and i can't even explain how it's pronounced...

"dara..rhymes with sarah" won't work in this case....

maybe i'll change it before then.....

maybe a contest...pick a new name for me...

oh but wait...we already have.....kim....

ok ok ....before this continues....BatSheva.....and i have to say i'm laughing as i look at that and think to myself how you're going to pronounce it....

and you can just imagine what i was called in elementary school......batman....bat masterson...etc etc.....

i think i'll stick with kim....

story time with Kevin

I definitely think it would have to be John doing the story time. Just think, some harp music in the background, and lots of little kids to watch over. Who better?

Now, before you get offended, look at your post count compared to my wimpy one. You can see just how much of a DIS forums authority I'm NOT! :rotfl:

There are so many great people and stories here any such "list" is just a starting point. It was easier for me to comment on people with whom I've had some interaction. Sorry :bride: ; please don't be offended.

i would put one of those laughing symbols in here, but it seems so rude to do that....as if i'm laughing at you..
but i'm not...

i assume you're going on the cruise - when we meet - hopefully in the terminal before boarding, i'll introduce myself properly...

although i don't really say it right either.....(since i have an american accent ....actually more like a really really strong detroit accent - which doesn't work with my name)...
