I posted in the weekly thread a few weeks ago, but decided to put this up a separate thread.

Plans are to WISH meet on Friday and Saturday, 7 pm in front of Jamba Juice in Downtown Disney.

Thoughts were that some WISHers wouldn't have park tickets, or park hoppers, and would be easier to meet where there lots of food and drink options.

No plans for Sunday yet, since some people are leaving shortly after the half finishes.

After each race, do we want to meet up at the family reunion section, under "W" for WISH? Or do we want to find a spot to scream team everyone in at the finish line?

Submit your thoughts and ideas.

As of 7/9/08, we have 52 days to the 5K, and 53 days until the half!

Hey Jeff: As you know I will be at the Saturday 7pm WISH meet.

I think meeting up at the "W" tent afterwards works and for those who want to scream team can do so until the end or the last WISHer crosses the line (might be me) and then go to the "W" tent to meet up for a photo.

I will be at the 5K Scream Teaming so I will be there to see people finish and take some photos!!
(Jeff I have decided to only do DL on Saturday, time and money are not going to allow for Saturday and Sunday - I really just want to see the park and maybe go on a few things that Disneyworld doesn't have.)

GO Us!!

Jeff & Tracy - I will be there Fri night for sure and hopefully on Sat too. Meeting up at the "W" tent sounds good to me. And don't worry Tracy, you won't be last...I'm sure I'll get that spot! :thumbsup2

Jim and I will probably be there Saturday night. I'm not sure on our plans for Friday, so I don't want to commit to anything right now. We have two day hopper passes and I'm trying to decide which days will be best to use them.

As of 8/5/08 25 days to the 5K and 26 days to the Half Marathon.

WISH TEAM: On both race days, do you want to meet up before and after the races at the "W" tent? Scream team at the finish line?

Throw out your ideas for all of us to hear  .

Do we need nametags to identify ourselves by screen siggy's?

dsnyfan21

I'll be at the W tent before the half and hopefully crawling over to it at the end. If I'm not the last person I'll scream team at the end until its over and then over to the W tent. (I heard at WDW their was no W tent, so whatever is the last letter, that is fine with me.) I will be at the 5K as a screamer, so I'll just look for you guys. Will eat breakfast at the hotel or at DTD and then onto the park when it opens at 9am!!!

Not sure about nametags, I guess maybe it would help.

(Jeff - talk about being excited, you're all over the board with your countdown!!:rotfl2: )

Hey Jeff!

I'll be making my way to the W tent after finishing. I'd like to see Susan finish but would be very afraid I'd miss her in the crowds. I loved the group meeting up afterwards at the WDW races.

I think we're catching the last seminars on Friday about the course and tips. I think it's around 6 pm so we might be wandering around the meet area a little after it starts. We are planning on taking it easy on Friday and doing the seminars and expo.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend!!!! We fly home on Monday so will be around the parks Sunday afternoon/evening. :)

Disneyland stays open till midnight Fri, Sat. & Sun nites. :cool1: I won't be staying up that late on Sat., though. ;)

As for WISH meets, Sat. night will probably work best for me. I may be in the middle of ToT or Soarin' on Friday night. :lmao:

Quick run by...

I completed the half in 2:02.17. I just missed my PR by about two minutes. Thunder Matt and I started together, and he blew by me around mile 11 to the finish. I just couldn't match his pace at the end.

I didn't take a lot of photos during the race, just a couple before and after. So there isn't a mile by mile photo essay this year.

All the WISH team had a great time. Some had to rush off soon after the race ended, some heading back home already. Others just wanted to get out of the heat and humidity.

It was overcast and cool for most of the race. About the 3 hour mark, the sun broke through, and made it pretty hot. Unfortunately I did see a few people passed out, and even one lady taken away by ambulance just outside the esplanade near Harbor Blvd.

Had a great time, and I'll be back later with a few photos.

Farewell to all the WISH team, Disneyrunning.com, and Disney Dead members. It was great meeting you all, and please have safe travels back to your homes. Especially those of you who live between Texas and Florida. I hope you're all spared from the hurricane's path.

Cryssi:

Glad you made it, even though we were all about to head back to the hotel for sleep. Nice to have met you and put a face to your name.

Did the shirt fit you and your friend? I hope so, I was trying to unload all of those that were stuffed in my suitcase. My friends took home the rest to hand out to family and friends.

See you at some race down the road, and here on the boards.

What was your finish time?

Jeff, the shirts were great, thanks! We didn't try them on but they will definitely fit!

I finished in 2:29:39. Not bad for my first 1/2! Especially considering that when I signed up for this race in April, I was not running at all...I went from the couch and sporadic stationary bike riding to running a 1/2! :yay:

She claims to be retired from running full marathons. She sticks to half marathons because she doesn't have to train for those.

I'm bummed that I couldn't make it for the WISH meet Saturday night. I tried to make it but we were in the middle of a dinner reservation at Ariel's Grotto. Plus, I had two cranky kids in tow. :rolleyes1

I enjoyed meeting Jeff and Marcia at the 5K. They were so friendly and I spotted Jeff right away grinning in his WISH shirt. Jeff made a good pacer for my 5K start in that bright WISH shirt. I followed his lead for a while during that run.

I also spoke with Tracy and Chester in the corral C at the half. It was nice meeting you both! DH and I both ended up finishing the half in 2:20:19.

Caseydilla, I was wondering where you and your family were. Oh well, you only missed out on free tshirts, WISH wrist bands, and lots of laughs and stories.

What, you paced after me? I feel used. Nah, just kidding. It was just a fun run, so stopping for pictures and dodging kids and woggers was to be expected.

Marcia and I didn't see you after the entrance to Disneyland Esplanade. I guess you ran by when I stopped to take a picture with the Disney Dead's team. You should have stuck with us at the start. Oh well, next time. We'll see you again at another race someday. Marcia goes to Vegas alot, but I don't. We'll look you up if we do.

Great meeting you, your husband, and keiki. I know how tough it is when you have your kids with you. Parents never get to do what we want to do. My solution? I leave my family at home :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:  . It's not my fault they have school during the race weekend.

Have fun up in Big Bear. I'll let you know if we ever get back there for skiing in the winter.

I just wanted to say thank you to Jeff for inviting me to the Jamba Juice Meet on Saturday and thank you again for the shirts! It was my first time meeting fellow DISers and everyone was so warm and friendly! I am definitely checking out the WISH boards further, as y'all have definitely inspired me! A good goal is that I will end up walking with you guys next year!

We will be at WDW during the marathon. We're meeting up there with our friend who ran last weekend - they are spending a 3 week honeymoon at WDW and the half is the day we all leave (we have 7pm flights).

I did have a question for you guys regarding the half in WDW. His soon-to-be-wife finally gave in/agreed he could run, he then found out the half is already full. Is there any way, other than an act of God, to get into the race? Are there teams that end up not filled? How does that work? Any advice would be appreciated! His thought was that it would be a crying shame to be there and have to "watch it go by"....

Uuuugh, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to make it in January, 2009. But, it's not over just yet. LOL. I'm going to the Masters golf tournament in April, 2009, so funds will be tight!

Now if I hit the sweepstakes between now and then, then we'll see if I make it. Mushu (Marcia) is teasing me that she's going, and if that happens, she'll "one up" me on the Coast to Coast 2009. DOOOOOH, I can't live with that!

Racey Tracy

Racey Tracy,

So many things to consider if I can go in January. First is, we're going to Maui from 12/31/08 to 1/5/09.

I used frequent flier miles last January for a R/T to MCO- 70,000. I used frequent flier miles in August/Sept for a R/T to LAX-70,000. I have enough miles for either a January R/T to MCO, BUT, I think I'm going to use them instead for my April R/T to ATL.

Those darn airlines are making it harder and harder for me to use my miles, mostly by doubling the number of miles it takes to get there. I used to fly for 30,000 then it went up to 35, 000. Now it's 70,000 or more R/T from HNL to all parts of the continental US. Let alone baggage fees, and tax.

We'll Mushu does have more WDW bling than me, since she's run at WDW more times than me.

Now that there's the Coast to Coast challenge, Disney is really after my money!!! Good thing I'm a Disney stockholder, and I get like $.79 cents a share each year in dividends. (FYI- I own 4 shares so I'm RICH :lmao: ).

I have to get approval from the Queen and the Princesses if I can go solo.

I get a DVC member discount on the registration, a whopping $10 off.

If I do get there, then no parks this time for me, just do the freebie stuff around WDW. No rental car, take the Magical Express bus. Just worry about meals and hotel.

The good news is I get a raise on Oct. 1st, and a step movement on Jan. 25, 2009. So more funds will be available.

What's it all mean, well I'm a very big maybe...:confused3

Great video, Jeff!

Someone got my DH and I in a photo near the end of the 5k - we're in the 2nd picture after the three Scream Team ladies, DH is in the burgundy sleeveless shirt (on the right side of the photo, next to the cheering section) and I'm behind him (a little way back) beyond his right shoulder, light blue shirt (not to be confused with the two in royal blue in front of me) and sunglasses.

Hope to meet you WISHers next time - maybe next year!
