Hi, I found us! :)
I was excited to get the Panama Canal, but now after thinking about it, I am at a loss. Oh well, I will see what I can find! :)

A friend gave me some travel transparencies for my birthday and one of them is a 4 x 6 map of the US with the words road trip at the bottom to put over a picture. I thought it might be neat to do that with a map of the Panama Canal. But if you want to do it for me that would be great.:rotfl2: Just an idea, for what it is worth. I agree this might be a hard one.
I am looking forward to doing Sail Away. I have some ideas floating around that I want to try out. Where do I find Pixie Dust?:lmao: Guess I will have to use Stickles.

Thanks for starting this --- I think this will make it a bit easier to keep track of the conversation.
This is what I posted in an email earlier, in case anyone needs help or inspiration to start a kit:
Personally as a new comer I would make it real easy…
First, find some 12 x 12 paper that goes with whatever your theme/possible pictures will be- if you aren’t sure look through some of the posts on Disboard, pictures.... (ie. Beach = blues, sands… Pirate = blacks, browns…) might have a pattern might be solid… Next, use these for cutting into:
· border strips 1 ½ - 2 “ (think edge of page), may be cut with a decorative edge
· 4 ½” x 6 ½ “ rectangles ( 2, 3, or 4) for mounting pictures to
· some kind of decorative piece (sticker, fun cut out…) to help pull it all together.
· Maybe a fun shape to journal in (with or without lines)
Each of these elements can be used on a page or two page spread of varying sizes based on the need of the individual scrapbooker.

Okay, you are both talking in foreign language. I have never worked with nor heard of transparencies...?
Excuse his post, but I just want to get it clear in my head, what we are doing and so that my kit swap dosen't disappoint!:goodvibes
1. From Steph's original suggestion - are we sticking to sandwich baggie size/ziplock bags?
2. We are providing a bag per person - can we limit this swap to a maximum participancy. We have 18 themes - should we limit it to 18? With 100+ fish extender participants, I'm getting concerned about luggage weight!
3. How much $ should we spend per bag - $3, $4, $5 perhaps?
I am so looking forward to putting these together and meeting you all...I think it's going to be a really fun meet.:yay:
I also need some new ideas for my scrapbooks as they are starting to look very much the same.

Okay, you are both talking in foreign language. I have never worked with nor heard of transparencies...?
They are just the transparencies you had back in school. You know on the projector screen (or does that date me?). You print your words, pictures or whatever on the transparency and then attach to your photo with brads, staples or even photo corners. The photo shows through behind the transparency so you don't want it to be too busy. A lot I have seen just have a word or description down the bottom or on the side so as to not take away from the picture.
Hope that makes sense.

A transparency is basically a clear sheet that's used on an overhead projector - like in schools or offices if they haven't gone high tech. :rotfl: In the scrapbooking world those sheets have taken on a new life in that they're not so clear anymore. Often you will find them with pictures or word printed on them.
Here's a card made from a transparency, to give you an idea what it is. (I'd post a page layout, but it's often hard to tell what's transparency on them.)

I agree, this is fun...I have never done anything like this. Go us!
For those of you new to scrapbooking and feeling overwhelmed, here are a few posts with some basics defined. I hope it helps and eases your anxiety a bit.
Good to Know Information
Acid: This is the nasty stuff found in materials such as paper and cloth that causes them to discolor, become brittle and over time eventually turns your photos and albums yucky. A good example you may have seen is a really old photo album where the photos have faded and the plastic sheets that protect the photos are brittle and broken.
Acid-free: Good stuff. Products that are acid free are our friends. There is something about acid free products being 'PH neutral...' but all I really need to know is that acid free products are good for our photos which means I can use them in my scrapbooks. Acid free = photo's last a long time.
BUFFERED: Something that has been subjected to the addition of alkaline substances such as magnesium carbonate or calcium carbonate to prevent acids forming in the future due to chemical reactions.
LIGHTFAST (or Color Fast or Fade Resistant): Colored paper or ink, which is resistant to fading with age or exposure to light, heat, and other unfavorable conditions.
Lignin: Sounds like some sort of Latin name for a bug "Cimex Lignin..." In fact it is actually the bonding stuff that holds wood fibers together in trees??? Paper that isn't lignin free like newspaper will eventually yellow and become brittle over time. Not good for photos so stay away from any products that don't outright say 'lignin free' if you want your photos to last.
LIGNIN-FREE: A product that contains no lignin. Lignin is either removed during processing to make paper safe or the paper is manufactured from a base material that is already lignin free such as cotton.
PAGE PROTECTOR: These are protective plastic sleeves which cover your scrapbook pages. They are available in a variety of sizes and can be side-loading to cover scrapbook pages that are bound or top loading which means that the protectors themselves are usually incorporated into the binding and require that the scrapbook pages be slipped into them. Polypropylene and Mylar are two of the most highly recommended plastics for protectors.
PHOTO SAFE: A marketing term used for products sold for use with photos and memorabilia. Photo safe is an ambiguous term and one that is not regulated, and while it is probably preferable to select products clearly marked acid free, lignin free and PVC free, the term has gained wider acceptance in the last few years and if the product is from a reputable manufacturer it is likely truely photo safe.
POLYETHYLENE: A chemically stable, transparent, food safe plastic used in photographic preservation materials.
PVC (POLYVINYL CHLORIDE): PVC is a common plastic which because it is chemically unstable releases a chlorine gas. When this gas settles onto a surface it turns into hydrochloric acid. This acid will cause photographs to fade and discolor.
Embellishments
Eyelet: Eyelets are small metal circles through which the laces are threaded on a pair of shoes. They are used in a scrapbook context as decoration and as a means to "rivet" components onto a page--mainly card stock.
Brads: Decorative two-pronged fasteners used to pretty up our layouts/albums. They're very handy and can be used to bind mini albums. Brads are getting pretty fancy these days.
Chipboard: Aka book board, I can only describe it as thick card board like the stuff your cereal boxes are made of but thicker. You can totally use your cereal boxes (although they're not acid free) to make your mini album. It may be a little flimsy but you can get away with it if the album is small enough otherwise go for something a little thicker. You can find good quality chipboard that is thicker at all good craft stores and scrapbooking stores.
STICKERS: Stickers are one of the most basic scrapbooking supplies. Scrapbooking stickers should be acid free, and lignin free (or photo safe such as Stickopotamus™). Traditionally scrapbooking stickers are made out of printed paper, adhere to your page with a sticky back and are very quick, and easy to use. More recently scrapbooking stickers have become more embellished - some sporting fiber, beads, wire, ribbon and other such products that give your scrapbook pages depth and texture. Stickers are a must for every scrapbooker and come in almost any imaginable theme.
PUNCHIES: The paper shape which results from using a paper punch tool - not the hole left by the punch. Punchies can be used on a scrapbook pagefor decorative effect, if they have been punched from acid free, lignin free paper.
DIE-CUT: A shape or letter cut from paper by machine using a die pattern.
PUNCH ART: A decoration made up from punchies. The components may or may not have anything to do with the final art. For example, a flower may be made from overlapping heart shaped punchies in a circle with a small circle punchie in the centre. Freehand cut a stalk and place leaf punchies along it. Punch art can be simple to quite elaborate.
Techniques & Tools
Dry embossing: Very funky technique using a stylus to create a bumpy or depressed design on paper or other materials.
Heat Embossing Tool: Used to melt and set your embossing powders. It works just like a hairdryer but it packs a lot more heat. You can buy a special scrapbook/stamping heat embossing tool or buy a generic hot air tool or hot air gun from a hardware store for half the price and they both do exactly the same thing...blow hot air.
Matting: Matt your photos to make them stand out. Normally you would cut a piece of plain or patterned card slightly larger than your cropped photo, then take the photo and adhere it to the top of your card.
PAPER PIECING: The use of cut out shapes to produce a picture. Similar to applique, pieced paper pictures can range from very simple to complex, and can be a page decoration or constitute an entire layout.
CORNER ROUNDER: A type of punch which rounds the corners or photos and mats. A very important tool for those who are working with photos from the 70s and 80s which came processed with rounded corners. Comes in plain or decorative styles.

Let me know if you are interested, the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge has a Mickey hand. I can cut some for you.
Here's a compilation of all the questions/answers from the e-mails - at least I think I got them all:
An idea I had (actually Cheryl & I had it about a year ago! LOL!) was to do *page kits* to swap. Sandwich baggie size. :-) But, I am open to whatever y'all want to do......
What exactly do you mean by “page kits”.
Page Kits - I assume that we put together a pack that covers one of the suggested themes? Do we include 12x12 paper or just embellishments, stickers, etc?
How much should we spend $$?
I would imagine since everyone scrapbooks different style and sizes of books it would be more difficult to do the background paper… but photo mounting paper, embellishments, journal boxes… boarders that could be cut down…would work.
Quick question...are we supplying the 12x12 paper and the embellishments?
I think this will answer some of the questions --
I thought for this one it might be fun to do theme page kits -- in this case a page kit would be the items (embellishments, titles, etc... everything BUT, the background paper & photos ;-)) needed for a page.
You would bring enough of one kit to *swap* with each one of the participants. Right now there are 17 of us. I wouldn't think there would be any more then 20 of us -- I will post and give this Friday as the deadline to join.
<<Have you decided how you want to go about this? Will be each pick a day/port? >>
Yes. If we end up with more people the choices I think we could add in most anything *Disney* don't y'all?
<<Can we pick our theme? I might have problems getting enough embellishments for some of the themes here in the UK.>>
Yes, you can pick your theme. Heather I have no problem letting you pick first! :-)
<< I personally was thinking of doing an
envelope/holder for the navigators and/or other papers/tidbits that you
don't want to lose, but don't want to permanently attach to a scrapbook
page. This way you can pull them out whenever you want. Is this okay for
everyone? Please let me know.>>
It is fine with me! :-) I don't want anyone to feel that they have to *only* do what I tell them! LOL! If you have an idea for something other then the page kit please tell us! Those of us that don't want to think *outside the box* right now can do the page kits. :-) I have some great ideas!
<<How much should we spend $$? - a rough guide would be great>>
hhhmmm.... what do y'all think???? Should re try to keep the retail value of each kit to $3-5? Or a different amount?
<< but photo mounting paper, embellishments, journal boxes… borders that could be cut down…would work.>>
Exactly what I was thinking!!! :-)
What goes in a "theme kit"?
A theme kit is a kit that has all the elements to build a page for a scrapbook around the theme. I suggest you go to Micheals and Target. They both sell kits. It will give you a sense of what a kit is. Don't buy the kits. They are way too expensive.
Anyone have good ideas for transporting 12x12 papers?
This is everything BUT the page paper, so it is all small stuff to fit in small ziploc baggies, right?
How to transport 12 x 12 pages. I will be thinking of that and get back to you. An idea for now would be to put the pages between a few 'light boards' that come with paper blocks and then tape all edges carefully so it stays together.
We will NOT be disappointed!!! :-) Heck, I'ld be fine with a hank (approx a yard) of ribbon/yarn or a few buttons/brads in Disney colors (red/yellow/black) to be used on a page of my choice! LOL! Or anything *tropical*
I am really OK with anything anyone wants to do for the swap!!! :-) I only put expectations on myself never anyone else!!!! :-) I am sure that we all feel the same way!!!
I want this to be a totally FUN get together!!!!
What is the song the horn plays when we sail away? Is it "When you wish upon a star"? It has been awhile and I am drawing a blank. Thought I might work this in somehow.
Yup, that's it ... When you wish upon a star.

No. Not unless you want! LOL! I will have a *craft keeper* with me to transport my stuff. i put a thin piece of cardboard in it. It lays so flat that it isn't even noticed in either my suitcase or my tote bag!
Last swap on board I did bring background paper for everyone -- how could I resist paper that was a map of the Carribean???? ;)

Almost done!
I guess I am fairly obsessive...I hate letting things go undone.
So I found a few things on the web and ordered them today, and they shipped already!!! Yippee!
Then I went to Micheals to get some inspiration and ideas, it worked. So I got the rest of the stuff I needed.
The only problem is that my husband had a really great idea for our page, so we are going to see if we can come up with a way to make it work. He used to be a designer, so hopefull we can make our ideas work, but even if it doesn't, I am really excited!!!! :)

I wish I was around your area to take that class. I will have to lift some of those ideas for my pages. The characters are fun to make, but very detailed and time consuming. I don't know if I will have time to do 18 of them. It took me an hour to do one Chip.
My DD25 works at JoAnn's and today is her double discount day, so I am going to stop by after work and see what I can find. I am hoping they have some interesting embellishments I can include.
I will be working on my items this weekend along with my FE gifts which use my scrapbook supplies.

Hi Steph! There is also a current DCL swap still going on. Its due the 19th, so pics will follow soon, I'm sure. I will post pics of what I'v done so far tomorrow but I'm only in 2 groups.
I can't wait to see your pics, Jill!!! are you rested yet from your Repo cruise??? :rotfl:
I've read quite a bit of Matt's TR! I saw that Karen had posted on his thread, also. They are going on the 5 nt after our repo! So is David/Helen (Daipp).
How is your house decorating coming along??? You've had quite the year! And school starts for you in August, right?
Hi all .. Just found you ... I was looking in the wrong area. Everything sounds great so far. I've been working on ideas in my head and hope to get down to work this weekend. I have a cricut machine, but am not an expert yet. Still learning. I'm going to a class at our local store next week called Disney blitz where they use the Cricut to make the characters. Can't wait. Here is a picture of the layouts that we get to make.
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q294/MJGirl_01/Disneyblitz.jpg
They have a free Saturday crop every weekend, so I may end up there this weekend!
WOW! That looks like fun!!! I haven't been to a crop or class in years! :sad2: I used to belong to a scrapbook club that met once a month. I met the ladies online and they held their crops just a few blocks from my house! LOL! We were even featured in Papercuts magazine! LOL! And a couple of the ladies went on to work for scrapbook companies (one of the ladies was co-author of the coluzzle books).
I had lots of fun scrapping back then!

Let me know if you are interested, the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge has a Mickey hand. I can cut some for you.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the offer. My friend dropped off that Cricut set last night. I may e-mail you if I have any trouble figuring it out. This officially means I need to take the Cricut out of the box.
My 13 year old is off to camp for three weeks on Wednesday so I am setting up a table as soon as he leaves and getting started. Right now I am ironing labels on clothes and looking for missing things that he needs and had last week but have disappeared to who know where.

Wow girls, you have been busy. So have I! I have been working on my project all week. My mom bought a Cricut (Ya):cool1: so we have also been trying to figure that out.
I was wondering about taking on another project - if we need for me to. I don't want to take a project if someone else wants it but I would be willing to do more than the Sizzix shadowbox letters for the ports. I have also been waiting to say anything until the Friday cutoff in case more came on board. I can take Puerto Vallarta or Alcapulco. I will wait for a little bit to see if someone else takes it - it won't matter to me.
We are getting so close. I leave 4 weeks from this Tuesday! Yikes:scared1:

I need clarification...
I have the Tropical Deck party theme and I realized on our itinerary we have Tropical night on 8/26 and Mexican Deck party on 8/22
Is my theme just a generic one to be used for any kind of tropical deck party?
Thanks!

I vote for a generic one. The everyone can use them with whichever night they pick.
I was going through my old cruise stuff and here is my best scrap booking tip of all. TAKE A COPY OF THE MENU EVERY NIGHT! They make great pages. The waiters are technically not supposed to let you take them but if you are discrete they will look the other way - if they are really nice like on our last cruise they will give them to you every night.

I finished two of the elements for this swap yesterday and have cut the third, still need to embellish it. The Cricut sure makes it easier. I will share that one of them is a journal block and one is going to be a title block. Is 4 items and some embellishments enough? I will make the title block 6" so it can fit on whatever size page folks decide to do. With as many pictures as I hope to take I think I will have to do a 12 x 12 album (or 2) for the cruise.
I should have been working on my formal yesterday, but spent a good portion of the day scrapbooking. I did finish a sun dress for tropical night. With DD's discount I got the fabric for next to nothing and it is one of those one seam things with the smocked top. I just added ribbon straps (too old and plumb for strapless). It is dark brown with tropical flowers. I think it will be cool too in case it gets hot :lmao: in the tropics.

FYI for our 2005 Magic Cruise in Mexico (7 days) I used 2 12 x 12 albums. I can only imagine what this 15 day cruise will be. OH MY!!!!

And 1 seam! You can't get any easier then that! LOL!
My MIL & I went to JoAnn's yesterday and bought fabric to make a table cloth for my *formal* dining table. --- nothing in my house is formal but, it is the dining room table not the breakfast room table. ;)

Just curious....
what kind of albumns are you all planning to use for your cruise items? I am actually asking so I can estimate a specific item I am making....
A. Creative Memories or other STRAP hinge
B. 3 Ring Binder
C. Spiral Bound
D. Post Bound (the Disney albumns tend to be this type - ie what we might buy in the shops on board)
E. I have no idea what you just said...I will be hunting for something when we get home
F. Shoebox like all my other photos....

D. Post Bound (or could be F. because I have a lot of those too)
I only have the title block yet to complete. I finished one piece last night and if I do say so myself it turned out quite nice. I hope everyone likes it.
I am having trouble making the title block small enough for a 6 x 6 as well as look good on a 12 x 12 page. I might end up making it two pieces (1-SAIL, 2-AWAY) so it can go on two pages of a 6 x 6 or one 12 x 12.

I feel your contemplation.. the reason I am asking about style of albumn is I am trying to figure out how people can "adapt" part of my kit based on the type they have... I plan on including some helpful hints, especially for the newbees. :)

NO way could I do a 6x6 for this cruise. I really have a hard time doing small books. I have only done 1 and it was a Trip around the World book of Epcot for Nick.... It only had 1 pic per 2 page spread.

Actually I do lots of 6x6 and 8x8 albums, but mostly for gifts. I know this trip won't fit in a 6x6 or 8x8. I made my DD an 8x8 album of our last trip to WDW. And I am getting ready to do another one for a baby shower. I like them because they go fast. I do print out my pictures smaller for these though...usually 3 1/2" x 5" or wallet instead of 4x6.
I did end up making the title block in 2 pieces just in case. I don't want to cramp anyones style.:rotfl2: It is still a little big for a 6x6, they will be 1/2 a page each but it will work on a two page spread.
I was counting one of my elements and found out I only made 14...where did I learn to count?:confused3 So I have to make some more. Now that I have the steps down it shouldn't take too long. Cut, fold, emboss, ink, embellish, repeat.

When are we planning on meeting to pass out our page kit pieces?
I'm still not sure what direction I want to take with "Sea Days". I keep changing my mind so of course I haven't started anything yet. At least I keep moving along with everything else on my To Do list. Hopefully I can have have the suitcases mostly packed by the end of the month so I can focus on my "crafty" projects those last couple weeks before we leave.
Sorry I have been missing in action. The dining linking and other projest for the cruise I have limited time. I am a complete newbie and I was going to help Stphanie last year but did not know I would have been on various other projects. Since I have accomplished only one page in three years I am a newbie. I have been buying lots of thing for years now.
I have been buying little beach. Mexico and Princess Night things......your choice. I will not have time to get a full page together. If this is okay with everyone????? I am really wanting to learn from you experts and thought if I just bought things you could use themed to differnet pages. I would really hate to mess up a whole page for all of you!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
Let me know if this is acceptable. I am now off to work on the Scavenger Hunt.
I will try to check back often.

I can always use more themed stickers and such. Anything you contribute to the swap will certainly be appreciated. And EVERYTHING you've already done for us for this cruise is doubly so. :flower3:

Cheryl-
You have earned more than one "get out of jail for free" cards with all the work you have been doing to set up activities for the group. I am sure we are all fine with whatever you bring. Looks like I am doing a two pager so you can be half of mine if there are any questions.
Ruth
I agree....any fun new things can be used in the album somewhere! I know I will have lots of other pages that will need beach, mexico and princess thing!
Ditto!

The list for early dining is going out tomorrow. Kristina could still not get everyone to give room numbers.:sad2: The funny part it is DCL's fault we don't have them.:confused3

Cheryl You most certainly have so many other things on your plate. Anything you decide to do will be wonderful I am sure.
Looks like we will have quite a mix of stuff to help us get a start on our scrapbooks when we get back. What makes this swap so great is everyone has different ideas and things they want to do. So we will have so much variety. I hope to see some of the pages when they are completed. Maybe we can keep this thread going after we get back. (sorry, I really don't want to think about returning home, but would still love to see what everyone does with our pages)

I love the idea of everyone sharing pictures of our finished pages when we return. I think that would help some of the more timid or those of us that procrastinate!
I plan to make a few extra kits just in case someone else tackles one of the left over kit ideas.

That is so neat! I wonder how all that works. I would be interested to know how to do that.
I wanted everyone to know that I got a neat 'Paper Organizer' to transport my scrapbook pages back home. You might want to get something like it also, maybe you already have. I think I remember Stephanie saying she had something like it. It is 12x12 , holds 100 sheets (not that I will have 100 sheets to bring home - it just gives you some idea of how deep it is.:) - a little less than 1" deep. It was $6.99 at Archiver's. It's made of some type of firm plastic and is acid-free.
Take care and have a good evening!

Teri,
I feel your contemplation.. the reason I am asking about style of albumn is I am trying to figure out how people can "adapt" part of my kit based on the type they have... I plan on including some helpful hints, especially for the newbees. :)
Helpful hints are much appreciated:yay:

I believe it was a "clearance" item... but it was not labeled that. I almost missed it because in front of it was the FONT cartridge and I already have that on.... it was on the end cap so as I started looking at other items down the isle I looked at the side of the boxes and it was hiding :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
now to find the paper I want.....
I don't have one of these....are they worth the $. Are the cartridges like printer ink cartridges that have a limited shelf life...i.e. run out?

If I was to buy one today I would get the expression - the large format. Walmart has it for 289 vs 399 at Michaels.
The cartridges only hold the "font" or "images" - http://www.cricut.com/(X(1)S(vzl02j55r5ul1oydejk1kg45))/shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?id=123&s=5&sc=1

I made 18 kits, so I should be safe and if not I will not have one for myself (which is fine because I can make one later for me).
We put all the misc. stuff in our suitcases yesterday and the FE gifts, pirate stuff and scrapbook kits took one whole (small) suitcase.:confused3 I was hoping to only bring 3 suitcases total for the 2 of us, but I guess that won't work. :lmao: Plus DCL has us flying American so we will have to pay for each suitcase.:confused3
I have most of the Disney Cricut cartridges, but I might stop by Michael's today to see what they have. $40 is a great price. Plus I want to find some really obnoxious ribbon to put on our suitcases...DIS green?
It will be here soon. Looking forward to meeting all of you and being on this TOAL.

I have enough for 19 kits (but if I include me that's 20 and I can do this when I get back). So that's no problem.
I finally came up with something good for a title for sea days. Then I realized there were only 7, not 8. (I was counting # of days we stay don't get off the ship, then remembered one of those was PC crossing day.) Oh DARN!!!

I used a cricut at my friends scrapbooking store a few weeks ago, for the first time and LOVE it! I can see it being another must have, but am going to refrain myself from buying one since I have access to hers at crop nights.
I made 20 sets of mine, so I am ok with adding Lynn.
Just to clarify....mine are packed in baggies and each person will get a baggie of stuff, with a photo of idea's. Is anybody including 12x12 paper (or other size) with their exchange? I would need to bring something to bring that home in safely, if so.

It is pretty generic and can be used for a lot of things and pretty well matches a Sizzix font I have that I use for small letters. I hate trying to cut small letters on the Cricut - too fussy. And some Lime Green ribbon for the suitcases. That should really stand out on red suitcases.:lmao: DH packed my swap packages so I guess I am finished. If I have time I may try to make some photo mats or frames. I have this great wave cardstock that I used for my FE gifts and I have some left over.

This is a summary of the e-mail I sent Stephanie. She advised I post here to let you know I'd like to gatecrash!
I'd like to join you as an observer. I have never scrapbboked before, but am intrigued. It is not yet "huge" in the UK so I'm a complete novice. I have nothing to bring (except my enthusiasm) & expect to leave only with an increased knowledge & some inspiration.
Many thanks

Yeah Jill should know! (like I should be talking...) Biggest problem with this particular addiction is convincing your family that they REALLY dont need that huge flat space in the dining room (aka table) for anything important, as you have just taken it over for a scrapbook project...:rotfl:

Welcome Celestine!
My cricut is getting quite the work out this evening.
5 character names x 3 layers x 20 people = 300 pieces.
I have 1 layer left at this time and have to call it a night!
looking good so far!
Okay folks, I need your votes since I can't decide myself. :confused3 Should the title I make for Sea Days be:
A) No, We're Not There Yet!
B) Around the Ship in 8Sea Days
C) Getting There Is Half The Fun
D) What Happens On The Magic, Stays On Magic

Hi all .... First welcome Celestine. I still consider myself a newbie... I've only been at it since January. People are right, it is addictive! Next, I just wanted to say "I'm done!!!" Only have to print out instructions. Now I have to figure out how to transport them.

Welcome:banana:
I have been scrapbooking for about 5 years now and it is certainly addictive. It is really my stress reliever and I do as much or as little as I feel like. It's my hobby I can do what I want to. (isn't that an old 60's song?:lmao:) So be forewarned and have fun.
Where's the tongue sticking out smilie..... ;) Hey, don't you have a dress to work on.... :tiptoe:
Well I finished the dress...and it didn't fit.:confused3 Don't know if I cut out the wrong size or what, but it wouldn't zip. So I have 1 formal for both nights and that will have to do.

Did you just put magnets on the back of them? I was thinking about doing that, but just never got around to it. I have the Expression so I can cut them up to 11". May have to work on that this weekend...along with about a million other things. :lmao:
Sorry about your store, but sure will appreciate the extra goodies. I have always dreamed of doing that, but I know how hard it can be. My DH and I always joke that when we retire we going to open a model train/scrapbook store. That way we can attract the men and their wives.:rotfl:

Ok, so I have Cabo San Lucas, but it isn't coming out quite like I planned. I have some palm tree/beachy stuff with bright colors, some Mexico theme stickers, and a couple other items. Will this be ok with everyone? I originally had something different in mind, but it just wasn't working out very well. Let me know if this wasn't what you were thinking of and I can try again.:)

Hello again sorry I've been missing but I've had a busy few days. Now all work is finished and I can get on with my cruise preparations, Sunday is magnets and scrapbook kits, Monday is washing, Tuesday last minute stuff and Wednesday packing, we don't fly until Saturday but have a family wedding on Friday so we leave Thursday morning and won't return until after the TOAL.
Okay I have bought some bits for our pages and I'm thinking til we meet again if that's ok with you all, I would have liked to do the golden Mickeys first formal but I can't find what I need so I've changed tack, let me know asap if you'd rather have something else.

What a great gift!!! I kind of wish this is what dh would have bought me for my b-day but...he did buy me a GPS and I had wanted one for years..... I had asked for one when we bought my car a couple of years ago but, the only Expedition they had on the lot with a GPS was really ugly inside (Ivory & dk brown leather, I did NOT want two-toned seats) and was $6,000 more....
I think he only remembered the GPS because I was REALLY angry at him that week -- and I haven't been angry at him in about 15yrs!!!!-- and he wanted tomake me really happy!!!

I can't imagine you mad at anyone! Bad DH! ;)
I can get frustrated but, I don't normally get really angry! LOL! And I was angry -- more at the fact that when he did what he did (he stepped in front of the tv, and started telling the kids it was time for bed, when Elvis & I were trying to set the DVR) he was rude when I said *Hey, you're in our way.* He is not usually rude EVER... I don't know what got into him that night but, it went over like a ton of bricks! LOL!

Michael's doesn't do online ordering so it would only be for in store purchases. :)
Are you going to be in WDW after the cruise? DD & SIL are meeting us and I can ask DD to check the newspaper before she leaves home (here in TX) that morning and bring the 40% off one item cpn, that is usually in the paper, with her.
If they come out with one before we leave that is good until Sept I'll bring it with me!

Looks like we will be able to talk a lot of you into getting a Cricut.:thumbsup2 It is so great. I have 5 of the 6 Disney cartridges. There are 2 princess cartridges, a Mickey font and Mickey and Friends and two Pooh cartridges. I don't have the Pooh font. And there is going to be a Tinkerbell and a Cars cartridge coming out later this year. Go to Cricut.com if you want to see the cartridges. They have a message board also that is almost as addictive as this one.
Just a warning - your can't use a 40% off coupon at Michaels (or JoAnns) for the Cricut cartridges. It is excluded in the fine print.
Less than two weeks to go. See you all soon.

For the most part my scrapbooks are really simple -- color blocking, etc.... And then I throw in a snazzy page or two! LOL!

Each character had their own "layers" so it cut a base, and then you cut the shorts, shoes, face etc all seperate, they and glue that to the base layer. I hope that made sense.

Morning ladies.
Just popping in for a few minutes before I head off to work.
I have the Cricuit Expression and I just love that machine. Except I do need to call Provo Craft because I think I have a software problem. When I use the shift key, it does not cut the top layers for me, it still cuts the bottom layers, so I am extremely frustrated. I used the Disney character cartridge to cut out 10" characters (the Fab Five) for our cabin door. I am making most of my stuff for the door using that. So right now it's a little pain in the neck because I have to recut the whole base in whatever color I need to get the top layers, then I have to cut them out.
Have you seen the new cartridge that just came out? The Storybook cartridge. It is awesome, can do so much. A must have for those of us with a Cricuit. You can check it out on ebay, type in Storybook Cricuit. Will have to wait till after the TOAL to get it though.

Can you tell me how you did characters for your door opr better yet scan one in for me to look at. Did they end up being small or do you have the supper sized Cricut? I am working on door signs and would love some great ideas.

So for those who don't have a cricut they are amazing. This whole layout is done with the Cricut: We did the WB Repo and I am just starting to scrap it.

I love my Expression too. Have you tried using the shift lock instead? I know I kept forgetting to hit shift first then the button I wanted to cut. I have seen the Storybook cartridge, but I am waiting to get Graphically speaking instead. (too girly, I have a grandson;)) Those Disney characters are just so cute, but they are really time consuming to cut out...all those pieces. Have you tried any of the Princesses? I did Grumpy for a friend who was moving away and it turned out really nice. I might have to do Grumpy or Goofy for my DH, but he may not be too amused.:lmao:

This makes complete sense. I wondered if you use the colour pens and then cut it out.

Hi ... I'm in a panic here ... I leave on Saturday, and my Mom's still not home from the hospital. I've got my FE gifts done and my Swap Kits are ready. Secret Mickey gifts are done. Only have to pack it all. I will have my laptop with me, so my brother will keep me informed of Mom's health. They won't release her until the infection is gone, and it won't go away.

Thanks Steph... Glad you enjoyed the blog.. I told my daughter that this is it for the big vacations. She will have to settle for a normal cruise next year :0 and only a week at Disney! Turns out that Mom's pancreas is the problem. They put her on liquids and she is fine. As soon as they introduce solids, it flares up. The Doctor's are going to try a slower approach to get her on solids. They hope that she will be out by Tuesday next week. I told my brother to keep me informed by email while I'm gone.

OK, only 9 days until we are all onboard the Magic together. It still doesn't seem real. Even DH is excited and he is a pretty laid back kind of guy.:lmao: He has been checking what time our flights are actually leaving/arriving each day and from which gate. We have 40 minutes between flights in DFW and if they are in different terminals we are worried about the timing. So far it looks good. The flights have been flying in and out of the same terminal about 70% of the time. But with our luck they will be at opposite ends of different terminals. So if you see 2 folks in pirate t-***** running through DFW next Sunday morning that will be us.:rotfl:

I can't believe in one week we'll be heading out to CA. I'm getting close to having lots of things done, but so far the only thing complete is the banner for our veranda on PC crossing day. And I totally redid our FE. (It used to be the bubblegum pink with Mickeys. Now it's totally black.)
Still to do:
Finish swap pieces
Package FE gifts
Make door magnets
Put kid's names on pillow cases for autographs
etc, etc
PACK!!!!
Speaking of swap pieces, I'm really ticked off right now. I have a Wishblade that I was going to use to cut titles. But the darn thing won't work. Either I get a fatal error and knocked out of the program or it just sits there when I click on the cut button. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and can't get it to work. :confused3 It's been about a year since I last had time to use it. And now with all that needs to be done in the next week I just don't have time to futz with it. So now it's on to Plan B. June, how are your bumps and scrapes? And Happy Anniversary. We just celebrated our 8th on August 5th and are waiting until the trip to really celebrate. Isn't the Cricut great? I used it for part of my swap.

Good morning girls! Okay, today Water World, tomorrow our 18th wedding anniversary and lots of last minute things and then Tuesday, we leave:banana: Woo Hoo!
My mom and I just tried out the Cricut she bought about a month ago. Wow, it is sooooo cool. We have been making 11" Mickey and Minnie figures for our cabin door! So neat. I can see myself spending a lot of time and $$$ with this machine! My scrapbooks are going to be super cool now!
I am also making a little something extra for all you gals! Can't wait to see ya.
Sounds like a great day -- much better then your yesterday.
Well we are mostly packed. All our dress clothes that we won't need this week plus FE, gifts, swaps, door magnets, etc. Just need to pack medicine, toiletries, under garments and clothes I still need this week and will have to wash. And we still have room in our bags.:cool1: Room to bring home goodies.:lmao:

Well, aren't we just *Miss Perfect*. :lmao: I have a bunch of my clothes pulled from the hangers and stacked on the closet floor....does that count??? :rotfl2:
Claire (7) had me pull a bunch of her clothes out of her closet -- she wanted me to pack them but, I told her that for now they just get stacked on the floor of her closet. :lmao:
DH is taking anything we want pressed to the cleaners this week -- he's telling them to *fold* them. DH gets all of his clothes done at the cleaners. I'm more of a *wash and wear* girl. What's an iron? Dh actually wanted me to send in all of 10ds shorts -- who presses a 10yr old boys shorts!!! :confused3
I don't know how dh ended up with me... :rotfl: :rotfl:

I can't believe in one week we'll be heading out to CA. I'm getting close to having lots of things done, but so far the only thing complete is the banner for our veranda on PC crossing day. And I totally redid our FE. (It used to be the bubblegum pink with Mickeys. Now it's totally black.)
Still to do:
Finish swap pieces
Package FE gifts
Make door magnets
Put kid's names on pillow cases for autographs
etc, etc
PACK!!!!
We're hanging a TX flag!!! :yay: :yay:
:confused3 ???

Oh my gosh! You sound just like me...I believe it was about 14 years ago (we just celebrated our 15th anniversary) that my DH complained about the way I ironed his shirts. I have NEVER ironed since then, not once! HA!
He irons EVERYTHING, me nothing. If I need something ironed, I dryclean it or stick it in the dryer 5 minutes before I leave for work. Then take it out as I run out the door! Hee hee hee!
Okay, I am leaving tomorrow at 10am. I am 90% packed right now. I probably need an hour more. We can do it! It will be nice to be ready the night before we leave. I have a tendancy to finish packing right as I am running out the door! :)
Can't wait to meet y'all if I don't get a chance to get online before we leave!
ALL ABOARD!

Iron, what's an iron? I think I saw one of those in the back of my laundry room somewhere. Oh yeah, I used it to iron on a t-**** transfer. :lmao: If it ain't wash and wear forget it. And the talk of pantyhose on the boards, now that is funny. I haven't worn a pair of pantyhose in years. Now I do have to wear knee highs with my dress shoes, but that is as far as I go. So all my dresses and skirts are long. And those dress shoes are just for dinner and pictures after that it is crocs or sandals. I did get a cute pair of flip flops (which I don't usually wear) that have rhinestone flowers on them. Is that dressy?:rotfl2:
WOW, I can't believe people are leaving for CA already and I only have 6 more days. I even ran into 2 people on the Cricut message board that are going on this cruise.

And pantyhose, I threw them all away years ago. I think the last time I wore them was at my wedding 7 years ago.

You're not the only one Steph, however, yesterday on the Warner Tour, I ran into two guys who were on the Magic last week in the cabin next to ours. Hows that for a small world!

Hi All-
Panic is beginning to set in. My company that was supposed to leave on Sunday morning decided to stay until Monday. That combined with the fact that my boss is out on a family emergency so I had to cover a very high profile presentation is really cramping my DIS time, :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Seriously last night I did my FIRST attempt at even organizing anything, My guess is you will be able to find me due to the bags under my eyes on Sunday. BRING CAFFEINE!!

Okay, so we are at the Disneyland Hotel now! Yippee!!! We were in the pool yesterday waiting for our room to be ready for us and we could hear someone talking about the cruise. I would have had to dive into the pool and then said "hey, are you on the Disboards?" and I wasn't up to that.
