:santa: What is Christmas day like away from the parks? Is everything business as usual or are a lot of restaurants/shops shut for the day?
Think we will avoid the parks but was wondering if we can still eat out - not too fussed about being traditional - ribs or steak would make a fantastic Christmas dinner!!!! Bit gutted about lack of Xmas pudding though, will Walmart sell them or would I be ok to take one??:confused3

It is a bank holiday so generally places are shut. I know alot of the big hotels do set meals/buffets though that you may have to pre-book. Everything reopens on the 26th.

never been in orlando on Christmas Day.....but even in detroit, there are some restaurants open....

i would think that in a tourist town like orlando, there would be a lot more than in detroit open, since visitors need a place to eat.....

Last time we were there on Xmas day, we went to Johnny Rockets at Pointe Orlando. The staff must have thought we were mad, because we were sat outside drinking ice cold milkshakes at 11.00 o'clock on a (quite chilly, by Florida standards) Xmas morning.

I'm also wondering about this kind of thing! On my (FAB!) Mapman map I can see what restaurants are close to the hotel we hope to stay in, I was wondering if I may be able to find their number or email address and find out if they will be open and if we require a reservation. Not too bothered about it being anything fancy or traditional as long as we can get some kind of grub we'll be happy. I would ideally love to book somewhere Disney for lunch, however, being totally new to it all, I am sure I have missed my ADR window and wouldn't know where to start with it all anyway.
Travel Agent said when we get confirmation from the hotel he will email them to find out their dining options on the day and other local options, so I guess it all hinges on the hotel!
