So I was reading on another thread about people "retiring" to Disney.. I have to say I think it is a pretty cool concept.. .I wouldn't mind at all working at Disney....and thus, that brought me to my question....

You have just been awareded any job you want at Disney... What is it??? :cool1:

Personally - I think it would be cool to be a Monorail Driver...

Our family has talked about this many times! Thanks for the fun thread! We decided my DS 12 is going to be an Imagineer, DD8 will be Belle, my DH and I will retire to the World to be close to them- my DH as a boat captain, and me, I'll sell pins under the big hat! :cloud9: Disney dreams are wonderful!

I don't know if this is a real job or not - I would like to work at the parks - any one of them, and fix peoples problems. If they are having a really bad day or have had "issues" with something or someone, I would like to help fix it and make their day better.

From what I understand from someone I knew who married a CM(if you can follow that :confused3 ), every CM has the ability (and kinda the duty) to create some magic if they see a guest having a bad experience.

I hope that is still true.

Oh, my dream retirement would include 3-4 months a year as a CM, 1st choice would be a boat captain. But I wouldn't even mind sweeping up.

Add me to the monorail driver list. Heck, I'd be happy to be the person that opens the gates so people can board it.

Or I want to work in Space Mountain.

Only 29 more years until I am 65!

Personally (this is my "real life" dream too) I'd love to help plan events at Disney. To be able to take a guest's request of "something princess-y" and turn their event, wedding, resort room into a total princess retreat would be incredible. I also wouldn't mind being a photopass photographer.

Ok back to reality and answering the ringing phone....:rotfl:

I, also, wouldn't mind being a Photopass Photographer... specifically in MK...I think it would be awesome to see kids and adults a like get that first glimpse of the castle and to be able to capture that for them... I know I cried when I saw it for the first time last year....

You're probably thinking "dork"? right... :rotfl:

Considering I don't think I would be able to deal with the heat day in, day out, every single day 365 days a year- I would say I would like to work in one of the shops or work at a front desk at a resort or taking reservations at CRO.

This has been an on going discussion with my family......I remember as a child I wanted to be Minnie Mouse (just the right height 5'1), but when I retire I think I would love to be "The Fairy Godmother" at Cinderellas castle.:cutie: For now however, I'm happy being a "Mom":laundy:

DH and I are actually going to try to move down to Orlando next year to work for Disney. We are super excited!!! It's something we've always talked about doing, and so we are going to try it before we start trying to have kids. I'm really hoping to get into merchandising. DH hasn't made up his mind what he wants to do yet. I told him though, I really don't care if I'm working third shift sweeping up the MK as long as I have a mouse on my paycheck!! :thumbsup2

This type of discussion is a better fit on the Theme Parks Community board, so I'm going to go ahead and move it over there now.

DS19 would love to be in charge of Illuminations every night. DD17 thinks it'd be a hoot to pilot a Jungle Cruise boat. DH would love to drive the train (or monorail), and I'd be happy working in a gift shop such as Tinkerbells Treasures.

No, I don't!!! My first trip to WDW was in Dec 06 and when we walked into MK, I was overwhelmed!!!:lovestruc ;) I was fine until we watched the Wishes fireworks and I seen Tinkerbell fly across and then the show started. I started crying so hard!!!:wizard: My DF turned to me and said are you ok? I said yeah!! I just can't believe that I'm actually here!!!!:wizard: :wizard: Thank you so much for bringing me here!!! I'm actually typing this through tears as I'm reembering that day!!! I Love You WDW!!!! Thank you so much for being a part of our lives!!!!

But, back to the topic at hand, I'm not really sure what I'd want to be....either a front desk person or a CM who does the parades and stuff at night...you know the ones that entertain the crowds?? My DF said that his would be to water down Main Street after the park closes!!! That's his ultimate dream!!!:cloud9: :cloud9:

would like to be one of the dancers in one of the shows or parades. At this point though, I think I have past the age requirement.

There are so many jobs I would love to do at Disney, but I think I would want to work at the Haunted Mansion. Or drive one of the floats in the parade.

Well, I would like to be any unmasked character like Belle, but i'm probably too tall for her so I'd most like be stuck with being a villain or goofy. hehe
But my ultimate dream job at Disney would be a dancer in The Festival of the Lion King. I almost have the dances memorized lol.

Driving the monorail would be cool and I always thought being an undercover security in the stores would be fun (and I wouldn't have to hide my tattoos since I would need to look like a tourist :rotfl2: ). But I would say my dream job would be to be a character attendant especially with Chip and Dale. I think it would be a riot. What better job than standing there laughing with a couple of chipmunks?:cool1:

Chef or Character Handler.

I love cooking, but I would really like to see the smile on kids, special needs kids and even big kids faces when meeting Mickey or a princess for the first time.

What a fun thread! :cool1:

I have two!

First, I would love to be a wedding planner. No Bridezilla's allowed though, lol.

Second, I would enjoy being a special events planner. It would include coordinating wish grants for Make a Wish and other similar organizations, setting up fundraisers at Disney (say the Humane Society wants to generate some capital - I'm your gal!), etc. Oh and you have to throw in setting up 'Disney comes to your school' - include chef's, nutritionists, Imagineers etc. Can you imagine how much the kiddos would learn?

If I had the singing ability, I would love to sing in the Voices of Liberty. I can't sing, though. Play the clarinet, yes. Hey, Disney, you need any clarinetists? :goodvibes

Other than that, I would love to be a character handler or character (if I was the right size and shape :lmao: . Piloting the monorail would be fun.

The only jobs at WDW I would hate would be in food service or being a parking lot attendant.

I've had a couple of CMs I know say that they loved doing custodial at the MK because you weren't confined to one small area and you had lots of guest interaction.

Oooooohhh! :yay: I've been puzzling my way through this thread, unable to think of a single job I'd enjoy doing myself (even though it's wonderful that so many CMs do their jobs so well) until I found this post! Not that I sing well enough to be in Voices of Liberty--but it's fun to dream about!

What a lovely thread! :-) Well my dream job would be to be Snow White. LOVE HER!!! Or to be employed as some sort of musician or singer. Maybe Voices of Liberty but I imagine you have to be from the USA to do that. MAybe record some of the songs for the parade. That would be so COOL! Also maybe be Belle in the Beauty and the BEast show. Aww off dreaming now.

Failing any of those (:P) I'd love to be a wedding planner too. Seeing fairy tales happen everyday. How wonderful!

I would love to work as the tour guide on the Jungle Cruise, but I think it would be really fun to work on Tower of Terror, just because the people there are so amusing (well not on purpose) or be a character, just to see the expressions on people's faces when they meet their favorite character

I'd keel over dead if I were offered a position as a ride programmer and/or designer (heavy on the computer/imagination part) :thumbsup2 How cool would it be to take a Dinosaur rover & make it "jump" or "cower" on cue with the story? ... heh heh I've Been pulling kids of all ages into 'another world' my whole life using whatever I have on hand - I'd love to make it 'real' for a change.

I would love to be a character handler or photopass photographer. My husband would love to be a tram or bus driver.
