My little grandson came into the world at 2:51 this morning. Despite my reservations, younger dd went into hospital with George and Wai (her partner) and was there throughout, so I was getting regular text updates. Matt and I went in to see them straight away. Needless to say, he's absolutely gorgeous. He was 7lbs 8ozs. He doesn't have a name yet. I had thought she'd settled on one a couple of weeks ago, but it seems she still can't decide.

In the rush to get to the hospital, we didn't think to take a camera. Harriet took some photos on her phone, although I'm not sure that they're all appropriate for posting (his little boy tackle is well and truly on display, LOL). The girls' Dad (my ex) took quite a few though. He's at work at the moment, but he's going to bring a disc up later today. In the meantime, here's one which Harriet took.

Poindexter it is for now, Susan. Quite how long it stays that way remains to be seen. ;)

Georgina likes Todd (and that's the name I thought she'd settled on); Wai likes Toby. Neither of them dislikes the other's choice, but I think they're both hoping the other will come around to their favourite. Actually, George's top pick is Jasper, but Wai's having none of that. I've just got back from the hospital and, whilst George was visiting the loo, a nurse came around to take baby's temperature. She asked his name and Wai said, "Toby" (naughty, naughty). That's how younger dd, Harriet, got her name. It was my husband's top pick, but I thought I'd change his mind after the birth. However, whilst I was being stitched up and partaking of gas and air (i.e not in a position in any way shape or form to be having a conversation with anyone), the midwife asked her name and he said, "Harriet". Next thing I know, she's multiple-tagged, cot and all! :rolleyes:

George and the baby (actually, make that The Baby as I think that's what we're going to have to put on his brith certificate :rotfl: ) came home this afternoon, so all's well in our little world. George is as white as a sheet and pretty spaced out which I'm putting down to sleep deprivation. Wai's just got back from taking baby to see his family (they live at the end of our road). He's been gone a couple of hours, so I hope George has managed to get a bit of sleep.

Baby's sleeping a lot. Hopefully things will have settled down a little bit tomorrow and I can get some photos of George (or at least ones she's happy for me to post :rolleyes: ) and the baby with his eyes open.

He is the most beautiful thing. He only cries if he's hungry and he's so inquisitive - lifting his head up and looking around. It's hard to believe he's still only 3 days old.

When naming our DS, DH and I went through a baby name book and each made a list of the names we liked. When we checked each other's lists we found there were only 3 names we both agreed on. We chose 2 of them for DS. The 3rd name was Alexander and although I still like it I'm so glad we didn't use it as there are soooo many Alexes about.

Luckily our second child was a girl otherwise we'd probably have had to use DSs names in reverse order :rotfl:.

Good luck with their choice of name, once they've chosen it he will grow to fit it.

Congratulations Deb! He is a very cute baby - not kidding. Exceptionally cute. What fun to be a grandma. I've got five now - three boys and two girls. It's more fun than being a parent. You can have fun, spoil them and then hand them back to their parents. Just wait until you can take him to Disneyworld. We did that for the first time this past May and it was so much fun. I surprised myself by crying while we were taking pictures in front of the Castle.

I'll have to give my suggestions on names - my grandsons are Jonathon, Liam and Kevin (girls are Meaghan and Alyssa). My friend's son and his wife just give them their first grandson and named him Luca Jackson. Both seem to be really popular right now.

Well, there is Steven, William, Shane, Mark - it's never-ending. I guess that's the problem - so many to choose from. Looking forward to seeing what they name him.
