View Full Version : Is heartbroken too strong a word, LOL????

I was supposed to go to WDW with my BFF for 9 days in September (for my bday) but now he is unable to go (not really his fault-long story).
Being the compulsive Disney planner that I am, I had booked 2 nights at RPH at Universal & 6 nights at the Poly, had all of our ressies done, got tickets for MNSSHP, our entire schedule planned...every detail done and now I have to cancel...I'm not really a Solo traveler and none of my other friends can make it....so I just needed to vent to the only people that could understand the let-down...my fellow dis-ers!!
Thanks for reading!

Nope, I'd say heartbroken is just about right. Actually, I think you're handling it pretty well -- I'd be crying too hard to type. I hope you get a chance to take a makeup trip sometime soon.

This is the same thing that happened to me and forced me to make my first SOLO trip which I actually loved....so just keep that in mind:) How do you KNOW you wont love it if you dont try it???:goodvibes
But if not yes, I too would be heartbroken...

I say go anyway. You'll have fun. Nothing beats going to Disney on your own plan and schedule. Besides, it'd be a shame to lose all those ressies! And you'll love MNSSHP on your own as well! I did it myself last year and had a blast.

I went solo when my friend bailed on me. I had a fantastic time. Youshould still go, maybe just make it a shorter trip.

i agree...definitely fly solo on this one. i don't think that you would feel any worse going solo then you are feeling now not going at all. you'll have a great time!

You can think of some of a solo trip as a "scouting expedition". Thinking of trying a new resturant or two? If you go solo, it's less expensive in case you don't like it. And if you do, it'll be fun to "introduce" DBF to it on a future trip. Although I'm happily married, about half my trips are solo. Lots of things DH and I do together are things I've "found" on my solo trips (Boy, have I gotten alot of thanks, especially, for "discovering" Beaches and Cream).

I'd say go solo too! I'm doing my first solo next month, leaving the husband and kids behind!

I would rather go alone than not at all!

I am so bummed.....I just needed to tell some people that actually understand how disappointing it is to have to cancel! I don't think that I'm ready for a solo trip yet though but I won't rule it out for the future.....Thank you all for your comments! I really do appreciate it!

Hi disneypryncess

So sorry to hear you are canceling. I say shorten it and go solo! Where in NJ are you?

BTW, I hate to use the word canceling when it comes to my trips, roll the deposit over to a "postponement" it always feels better.

Having visited with family, friends, etc., I found solo was most enjoyable for me. However, I can imagine for some personality types, solo might be less fun, even unpleasant. So, begin planning for a future visit with family or friends, whichever works best for you to enjoy a great vacation.:)

There is honestly nothing like being there solo - it's such a guilty pleasure!

It's like going to the movies by yourself, you can enjoy the story and really get immersed in it without having to worry if anyone else is enjoying themselves or having to really take care of anyone but yourself.

You can ride what you want, eat what you want, sleep when you want, and really get lost in the fantasy.

If you can stand one more person saying it, Go! At least for part of the time. Do a long weekend and see if you like it!:)

I finally got the "guts" to go SOLO for Mousefest. It took a few years of lurking on this site and lots of ," Should I or shouldn't I?" questions to myself. Last year my friend couldn't make it so I didn't go. This year I saved some money and finally said, "Yes, this is the year!". I think you should go for it!!
One of my other friends once told me , "If you wait around for others to do something, you may never get to do things at all!"

I can't imagine going to the movies solo. Yet I've gone to WDW solo many times. Come to think of it, I wouldn't hesitate to go to the movies solo at WDW. Yet, somehow, the thought of going to the movie theater around here by myself seems "wierd". I guess everyone has different feelings about being solo!

I'm booked from 9/6-9/14 and i have until tomorrow to cancel....I'm just not really into a solo trip yet. Maybe one day! I'm going on the DCL for 4 days in Oct, so at least I will have a dose of Disney!
Thanks for all your comments!!!!!

You may be able to find a DIS'er to hang out with . . .
Then it wouldn't be solo.
