Hello everyone!
For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!
New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

4 hot, drippy miles for me this morning. I finished week 6 of C25K yesterday which was a 25 min run with noooo walking.
Tracy...I hear ya! Training for CDC last summer was the pits. It's really nice to be lazy this summer. I've been doing all my short runs on the TM and only venturing out for LR on Sat.
Jackie...I don't think I've ever been accused of looking fresh after a run. The WT frequently tells me I smell bad though :scared:
I'm looking into getting a hybrid bike. Anyone with suggestions?
Oh...and a favor. I will be away on vacation July 18-28. Is anyone available those two weekends to start the threads? TIA!

Whew Mel I hear you on the drippy miles! I can literally wring my shirt out after I go running these days.
And as for these days--I've been missing my WISH pals! I was at home for a month with super slow dialup and I'm finally back at school (high speed!).
On the 4th I went on a 14 miler, but I didn't get started until about 9 am...I ended up having to take a long breather at the 12 mile water fountain and dump water over my head. I still ended up feeling nauseous though. booo on overheating. Yesterday, I had a riding lesson, the first in a month. Whew it was hot (but fun!). And I used the apt pool to cool down ahhhhh. I'm going to try and scan back over last week to see what I missed before I head out for a short run.
Happy running!

Good Morning TEAM, I trust everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!
Claire - Congratulations on making 14 miles in the heat, way to go:goodvibes
I wasn't so lucky yesterday in my Leadville Heavy Half. I finished the race, but wasn't able to reach the summit of 13,185k feet, I was about 1.5 miles shy of it. I bawled like a baby all the way down the mountain because I was so mad at myself for not reaching the top. They tried to give me a medal anyway, but I refused to accept it...I didn't deserve it.
It was my own fault because I completed a half the Saturday before Leadville's race. Oh well, live and learn.
NEXT YEAR I'M GOING BACK AND WILL EARN MY MEDAL!

OK All you Dripping people, I was a soaking dripping mess after my 9 miles (does this sounds like I am repeating myself) - ugh:scared: and that is a smiley with sweat spilling of of it!!
I got out about 6:25am and I think that wasn't early enough!! At mile 7.80 I start to poop out and the last mile was not so great. I had water with me and took a cliffshot, but I was just pooped out and slow walked about .60 of the last mile. I know I am a racewalker and I went from a normal pace of about 14:30 to a avg pace of about 20. When I made it home and was in the kitchen I felt a bit dizzy. I got a COLD glass of water and then went in the pool and just floated around. As I was floating around dark gray clouds started coming in my area. I did alittle stretching in the pool. Got in the shower and then took my ice bath. While sitting in the tub I heard it raining outside. Now just sitting here after my breakfast and icing my hammies near my knees.
Not sure if I am looking forward to my 10 miles next week. I think also by doing a walk on Thurday, a 5K Race on Friday and then walking yesterday, and then doing 9 today just wasn't a good idea. I think I will walk my short miles Tues., Thurs., and Friday then take Saturday off before my Long Walks on Sunday. The summer is just calling for a definate off day before my LW!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, all about me.
Hope everyone is enjoying there holiday weekend.

Hey all! I am new to this thread but not ne wto WISH. Somehow, I have either missed this one or felt like I shouldn't post here. (From the movie Wayne's World: "We're not worthy! We're not worthy!):rotfl:
I am in training to do the 5k and the half in '09. On Thursday, I did my first 10 miler ever at a very slow speed. I started off good averaging about 14-15 minutes a mile and then in the middle, slowed down to be able to go the distance. Then, around mile 7, I picked it up a little bit just to see if I still had a little left in the reserve tank. I did have plenty of water with me (Which got hot really quick!) and around mile 6 I took a Cytosport gel packet.
I guess questions would be:
1) How many times do I need to do 10 miles before I add more speed to my routine without dying out there? (Just kidding about the dying part.)
2) Should I stay at this distance for a couple of weeks before going up to 11-12 mile distances?
Thanks for any advice. I am a novice totally to this type of training. I had never considered doing a race until this year and now, it is all I can think about.

Monte, you are still a hero to me. Next year you will earn that medal.
Yep we are in the drippy hot season here in Ky also. I go out and get it done in the heat. I sweat a lot and have often done races or training walks with a continous stream of sweat coming off the bill of my tech ball cap.
Erica is not as heat tollerent (sp) as I am so she has problems with it. We go out early and try to get done before it gets to hot. She fusses at me for not drinking till we are done but I train that way. I don't take water in a race shorter than a half marathon. When I'm training if we are going over 10 miles I'll have an occassional drink if we come to a fountian.
I lived in Vegas for 9 years and in Okinawa for 5 years and Louisana for 4 years so I'm used to heat and running in it. Although I don't run anymore the heat tollerance from all those years running in hot climates still helps.
Tracy there is no telling what the Marathon weather will be come January, we have seen it 28 degrees and last january it was what over 90?
Well time for me to stop rambling and get ready for work.
Have a great day y'all.

Thanks Panda, I did the Jan Half this year and last year, which everyone said that both were warm. I didn't really have a problem with it at either event. I don't do my "training" for January until 16 weeks before. I am trying to get through the traning for the DL 1/2 which will probably be very warm but very low humidity. I have lived in South Florida for all my life. I was in Marching Band in High School and College, so marching and being at football games in wool type uniforms in the middle of the afternoon was no picnic, but I survived that also.
This is just my first time training for a half in the summer. I usually start at the beginning of September and at that point the miles are shorter.
Just have to remind myself to get out there earlier and to take it just a bit easier on myself for being a bit slower.
I actually my get to use my sister's Treadmill that she just got and they put it in their garage. They have a TV and a radio to keep you company, so that may help so I'm not out in the sun and heat.

Monte - sorry the race didn't go as you hoped. But you still did great.
Bryan - Welcome! Don't worry - everyone is worthy to post here. We're all her to provide advice, support encouragement and the occassional kick in the rear.
Tracy - great job on you 9.
I did an hour of "Tour de Living Room" today. (For those who missed yesterday's post, it's my version of spinning while watching the Tour de France. (termed coined by Kristi :thumbsup2 ) The Tour riders completed slightlt over 32 miles in the hour I rode with them. No way I ride as fast as them, but if I rode 1/2 as fast, then I did about 16 miles. That would be good, since my race this weekend includes a 17 mile ride.

Posts: 672 Jen: Sorry about your hammie hurting. SOunds like you all had a nice picnic and hike.
Jackie: When I get done with a race, especially a half, my face is also BEET red. Being a red head and freckles, it's not pretty and the heat coming off my skin is pretty bad. People always ask me if I'm o.k. Its gets kinda commical. I was soaked today from head to toe. I had sweat dripping off my scalp and legs - ugh!!
Terri: Nice XT that you have planned. Good luck with your own Tour de Living Room.

Hey WISHers,
Good going on the miles.
We're back from our overnight camping/fishing on the North Shore. I only caught an eel, and no fish.
The night sky was filled with millions of stars, and a great view of the Milky Way. As always, it was a great way to spend a dark moonless evening, staring into space and wondering what or who else is out there looking at us? LOL, we had some interesting discussions on that subject.
Had a great time with all the kids and fellow dads, 12 of us all together hanging out on the shore.
Sorry, but I forgot to grab the camera to show you all what it looks like. We're going back at the end of the month, so I'll try to remember to bring it then.

Hi team...
Well....I am back from the beach with the kids and now preparing myself for my fitness conference in hot vegas. I did manage to keep up with training while away...it was nice to focus on my own workouts as opposed to teaching. So I got 3 runs in the books a 7 miler; a 4 miler and a 4.5 miler. I also rode the bike twice into some pretty strong head-winds for a total of 22 miles. The best part was 4 days of yoga :) and one day of pilates taught by other people! :thumbsup2 So it was a healthy vacation...training is on track and I drug my exhausted butt out the door this morning for a 6.2 mile HILLY run at a steady 9:56 mpm. My pace has dropped a lot since adding the galloway run/walk method back into my training HOWEVER my legs are much happier and with all the classes I teach and spinning I do as a result, it's probably a safer place for me to be in terms of pace.
Vic: Nice work on the 5 miles! :thumbsup2
Jeff: Wow...sounds like an amazing time. Would love to see the stars like that!! :goodvibes
Terri: VERY COOL about the tour de living room! I was itching to get on the bike today but trudged through a run instead LOL!
Racey Tracy: love the moniker LOL! Way to go getting out there for 9 in those conditions. Crazy...but impressive LOL! :)
Mel: Have a great vacation
Everyone else...sorry I didn't read last weeks' thread yet but I want to say "howdy" to everyone. I'll be off most of this week since my fitness conference and other LV activities will have me quite busy. Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

Good morning and happy post-4th everyone.
I hear you all on the drippy mess. I made 8 yesterday but I had to call for an Accelerade on the road. The pit crew arrived (DD13 and DS6 on the 4-wheeler) and saved my life. I was a drippy mess that turned quickly to a crusty wet soggy mess!!
I am very heat intolerant (hence the run yesterday) but I did not think the January half this year was that bad. I think it is because I finished early enough before the real heat came on. It was also my first half and I was VERY excited so maybe I just did not notice!
AmyBeth: Glad you had some fun at the beach. Can't wait to hear what wisdom you pick up at the conference. Have fun in Vegas baby!
Mel: I just bought a Jamis Allegro 1.0 hybrid and I really like the bike. It shifts really easy and the aluminum frame is sweet to say the least. I am getting faster and faster on it the more I ride. Good luck in the bike search!
Monica:  Don't beat yourself up too much. Remember the goals you HAVE accomplished and turn this into a positive. It sounds like you have the right attitude already.
Everyone else: A big WISH hi!!! I hope everyone had a great 4th and got in their steps too. It is hard to keep motivated when surrounded by such food and drink. Hmm, that must be why I have a hard time during Food and Wine???!!!! :confused3 :rolleyes1
Today is another hot one in Maine and we have about 1000 bales of hay to get into the barn this afternoon. I really dislike haying. It is a good workout though and replaces my XT and gym day today so I will just have to go with the positive as I said before. Today starts my training for my August 10K!!!! Best of days everyone!!! :cool2:

Thanks for all the encouraging words, that's why I love this TEAM
As I said I'm going to do this race next year because I just can't retire it without reaching my goal. Next goal is Virginia Beach Rock-n-Roll half marathon the end of Aug. The only thing that I'm worried about is the heat and humidity in Va. Since living in the Rockies for so many years we tend to forget about the humidity. I'm arriving a few days before the marathon so hopefully I can adjust to it.
Thanks again friends!:hippie:

Hello, WISH teammates!
Hope everyone had a safe, happy holiday weekend. I had a wedding on Friday, my family party on Saturday (I baked 22 pounds of barbecue chicken Friday morning for the party!), and a day of recovery yesterday.
I really need to get on top of my workouts. Without a specific event to train for, I'm lacking motivation to keep up with it. Kudos for every who has been getting their steps in.
I'll be back later to comment on everyone's posts.
Shout out to my peeps! Hi, Racey Tracey, Liz, Maura, and anyone else who had noticed I was missing! I'm back!

Ugh. I fell liek I'l never catch up. Wanted to over teh weekend, but we had no internet adn our phones sound liek we are trying to call someone on MArs. DOn't worry, though. ATT is on it. After 30 minuteson teh phone, tehy did a line check. Now, we can't hear anythign at all. Nice. They willl have a tech out on Wednesday btwn 8 am and 8 pm to try to fix it, though. I just love dealing with utilities. At least cable gives you a window that 's 2/3 smaller.
We did teh Hungry Duck Half MArathon Friday. Very hilly course. However, it was cool adn the course was 90% shade. My legs decided to try to keep up with dh aindtead of lagging back and wondering when he'd ntoice. OMG! We has a 2:25 with a pace of 11:08. Oyur 2nd best time!!! Woo hoo!! Met some nice people too! Very good time.
Being teh smart runners we are, when we got home at 9 pm Friday, we decieded to bike 4 miles one way to a place to see fire works. We hurt Saturday am, but not enough to keep us from doing a 30 min swim (which menas a 30 min row too) and 60 min on teh bike, which ended up more. Ow, Sat adn SUnday I was sore, but I made great progress on my swim (I can sort of do a crawl w/o drowning), so I'm happy. yesterday was a much needed rest day. Today is 60 or 45 on the bike and then 15 to 20 min run. (We are cutting or runs short to make up for killing them last week)
Kristi - :grouphug: Hope things are better for the family adn #3 did not hit!
Tracy - SOrry you were so lonely last week! ;)
Jen - Glad you are feeling better!
Cam & Howard - Welome back!

Kim - Good to see you again! FYI, DL was not on Labor Day teh first year, but was last year adn is this year. That's why I can't do it. :(
Monica - First, you deserved that medal, It's a heck of a race. Second, sometimes teh lsessons we learn frm our races adn work outs prove incredibly valuable. SOunds liek you learned a big one. DOesn't help now, but in teh future you may be grateful for that elesson. :grouphug:
Claire - I'm worried. Please be careful. If you were nautious, that was heat exhaustion. Way to close to heat stroke fo comfort. Please be careful and don't push in the heat.
Bryan - Welcome! For those of us who have already done narathons or halves, you shoudl knwo tha twe live through reading about teh first times of others. SO, we love hearing from you! SOUnds like you have an awesome base already. While I can't give exact times, as long as you don't push too hard adn injurre yourself, you will get faster, You may need to do soem intervcals to get there, though. Maybe do some 30 to 45 min work outs where you push hard for 4 min adn walk one or take it very easy for one. Have you read MArathoning fo rMortals? Many of us swear by that. The intervals in tehre will help with your speed. Just give it soem time, though.
To all teh sweaters ;), I feel for you! DOn't know how you do it!
I know, I'm still missig a bunch of you. :( :grouphug:

Good afternoon everyone!
Carrie - Wow! Nice job on getting in all those miles! (note to self, get moving)
Duckie - How much chicken??? Maybe you can find a local 5K to put on the calendar.
Lisa - RNR Va Beach in 2009 sounds like a great idea! We looked at it for this year but it's 3 weeks after the Chicago 1/2 so had to pass.
Hey there to everyone I've missed.
Had a good time camping in Amish country. Got in a short walk and ride - have to watch for, um, obstacles in the road due to the horse and buggies. Yesterday took it easy in the morning then weeded, mowed and cleaned the garage. Went to see Wall E after dinner. Today is my bday but at work (boo) and DH has a computer gig after dinner so will likely just head to the gym (weather is iffy).
Hope everyone has a great day!

Kudos to everyone for getting out there in the heat of the summer! :cheer2: This weather can be so tough to run in.
Unfortunately, I haven't run in almost a week. I'm not sure what I did or how I did it, but I have this annoying pain along the back and side of my thigh and behind my knee (and sometimes it extends down to midcalf) . Checking in. Surgery was June 19th. I've had some complications arise from the surgery so I've been feeling a little down. I don't know when I'll be able to run again, but doc seems optimistic. I told him I just had to be running by September so I can start training for the Half. I'm so swollen I can barely move and I've had some serious scary wound issues. Very discouraging. I knew going in the risks, but when something happens to you that is supposed to be a chance of 1% and in smokers it is a little mind boggling. I definitely don't smoke!
Funny, did my left quad use to hurt? With all my other aches and pains that pain has become almost unrecognizable. My left thigh went numb from surgery. I think I'll still be able to run on it, but I have this muscle in it that tenses up almost like a charlie horse. That might be a problem...
DH has been really great and kids are now officially home after going back and forth to the grandparents for awhile to give me a break.
DH is still running, just did the Peachtree. He's become really fast, although his Peachtree time was kinda slow for him. (Fast for me, though!) He said he'd do whatever I needed to do for the Half. If I gotta walk most of it he said he'd be with me, we're just gonna have fun. Course at WDW you gotta worry about the sweepers...
Hope everyone is doing well. I try to come over and read once in awile. I miss feeling healthy!

I'm going on IR myself this week. I've been having some hip, back and abdominal pain for the past couple months that's gotten worse. My PF is kicking up as well, so I'm not sure how they're related. My working diagnosis is possible piriformis syndrome but I'm no orthopedist. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just not built to be a 4 day a week runner or maybe I need to keep the walk breaks. I'm going to try a week off and see how that goes. Not sure I can do it though...I'm already having thoughts of trying to walk a bit on the TM tonight.

I am also here to report my huge effort tonight. I wasn't feeling well yesterday (stomach flu) and missed a scheduled LR (8 miles). I woke up with similar symptoms but decided to go to work anyway. I am glad I did. I managed to get through the day without any outward signs of my flu like symptoms. I didn't eat much yesterday nor did I drink much for fear of getting more ill. So, I was basically running on empty (other than lunch today) when I hit the streets tonight on my usual "Rest Day".
Here are my stats:
Miles: 8
Time 1:30:37
Pace: 11:19
My Splits:
9:06
9:13
9:38
11:34
13:44
13:00
11:52
12:30
For the second time in my life I actually hit "the Wall" during my running tonight. It came upon me somewhere around 3.25 miles. It is evident in my split times listed above. Unfortunately other than some warm G2, I had nothing to nourish my depleated body. I literally had to sit down and rest through two songs on my iPod. It was in excess of 85 degrees (5:30 PM) and had to be close to 90% humidity, it had just rained less than an hour before my run.
I live and learn, then again no one said this was supposed to be easy.

Obviously I'm no orthopedist either... but I was talking to a woman last weekend who suffered from severe PF and had found relief from a technique called Total Motion Release. http://www.totalmotionrelease.com/moreTMR.html I've done some reading and still don't quite get it, but the philosophy basically says that any pain has its origins somewhere else in the body. (Her PF was related to her back) What I get from the website is that if we work on overall fitness/core strength, etc, many of the other issues may clear up as a result. Just an idea? Given all the pains you're having, it triggered some of what she'd said and what I'd read. But I'd definitely give it a week off and let your body have a break - mine really enjoyed its vacation (of course it managed to talk me into a 2 week break, and although Saturday's run wasn't so hard, the recovery has been a nightmare!)
Shan - Sending more pixiedust: your way. Just take it really slow and don't try to do too much too soon.
Carrie - Congratulations on your Half! Your weekend activities make my body ache more than it already does!
Monica - You did great! From what I remember from last year's reports, that mountain is a real bear. You have nothing to be ashamed of.
I'm up for Va Beach 2010. I had it on my preliminary list for this year but took it off for budget reasons. I'm also looking at Richmond for this year - has anyone ever done that or considering it for this year? Right now I'm trying to decide if I can do a half 11/2, full 11/16, half 12/7, and still consider the Disney full in January?
Did 3 miles tonight, will do upper body and/or Pilates tomorrow, then am going to join Terri Wednesday in the Tour de Living Room.

Hey Team... so I was sick for the 4th, but by this morning I thought I was feeling better... Until I got to work. Our AC went out during the weekend sometime and we have a deadbeat landlord. So after 3 calls... he finally got someone there around 3pm. I was so sick by lunch as the temps were up to 90 degrees inside with little air movement except for the fans we had blowing. I am feeling better tonight tho!
Mel - NOOOOOO on the IR. Remember, I am always happy to be your partner!!! I am only a 3-4 day runner during training season. During the off season I am lucky to get in 2-3... but I really want to increase my cross training and get this core under control! Lots of GOOD WISHES coming at you!
Carrie - Like I told you.... YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!! BTW... my mom is going to Mayo for some tests. She is not doing well so that is the next option. I am not going for the initial tests, but if something comes of this and she gets treatment there, we may get to meet up!!!
Shan - Hope things heal quickly for you!
Jackie - 2 years ago when I was suffering from sciatic pain, Sunny gave me some book references that dealt with what you were referring. It really helped me and I haven't had any serious sciatic pain since.

Howard, you scare me.
Mel, I'm sorry about your IR. You may need to trade one of your four run days for a RW or WR or WW for sure, or maybe even some pool work. I do hope that you get it figured and it doesn't keep you down too long.
Shan, sorry that things are tough right now. PD that it gets better soon.
Morgan, you go! :cheer2: (Trying to get you moving.)
I've been moving, just not fast these days. Change is on the horizon for me and I expect that will be giving me all the time I need to get myself out there and moving properly with some left over.

Carrie - great time on your 1/2!
Liz - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Howard - bummer about hitting the wall. At least you still finished, even with a rest.
Jen - glad you're feeling better.
Shan - hope your feeling better soon!
Mel - sorry to hear you'll be on IR. Hope the week off helps.
I finished stage 3 of the Tour de Living Room (I just love typing that  ) Another hour of spinning. I know the riders get a day off every so many days of the Tour, but I don't know how they stand it. I've ridden 3 straight days and my booty hurts  I don't know how they can ride 100 miles one day and then get up and ride another 50-60 the next.

Lily - I hope this is a good change and something that is wanted..
[I am also here to report my huge effort tonight.
Howard
Howard - Take it easy with the humidity. Living with it all the time, I notice there is a definate jump where it gets harder around the middle of July. It saps everything out of you. Take it easy before Cam has to start making you. ;)
I'm looking into getting a hybrid bike. Anyone with suggestions?
Mel - Lynnda and I both have the Trek FX7.3 and we love it. Lynnda's has actually gotten her through a couple of tri's as well. It seems like a good bike for a decent price.

Wow this thread really flies. No wonder I gave up on it!!
Lily: I hope your change is a happy one and one that you have chosen for yourself!
Howard: I had a similar 8-mile run on Sunday just without the stomach thing. I had to make a 911 call to the cavalry to bring my Accelerade at mile 7 so I hear you on the overheated issue. Careful out there everyone!!
Shan: Sorry for the complications. I hope you are better soon. You have talked me out of the surgery for sure now!
Mel: Sorry to hear you will be on the IR. I hope this turns out to be nothing serious.
Jackie: VA Beach 2009 or 2010? I have not made plans past Goofy 2010 so that amazes me if you are into 2010 already.
Kristi: How's it going?
Everyone else: I just can't do it. I just cannot keep up with this thread. So, I apologize to anyone that I miss. I WISH I could respond to everyone.
As for me, we loaded and unloaded and stacked 991 bales of hay yesterday in 5 hours. I am a little sore in my back and shoulders today but nothing too major. There are 4-6 miles on tap for me today and as of right now, I plan on 4 but if I am feeling good, it could go up. My legs are definitely not sore. I have noticed a huge improvement in my stamina now that I am running more. I also have grown mentally in that we were on our last load, I was starving, hot, tired, and at that place during your run where you have to talk to yourself. I just kept telling myself I was almost there and went to that happy place that pulls me through. Yay for small victories!!
I hope everyone has a great day and :wizard: to all the unwell!!

Hello teammates! Back from a wonderful vacation at the beach. Tried to talk Scott into staying longer, but that whole darn "we're not the Rockefeller's " business came up!:rotfl: Now we're back and already back working.
Did manage 2 workouts while on vacation and gained some weight (stepping on the scale was SO depressing on Monday) So, I got myself to the gym yeseterday, despite the crocodile tears from my DD. Did 3.5 miles on the elliptical and some arm weight work. Will try for another workout today if babysitting ends early.

Julie - Is it a burning sensation or more like a regular hurt? Just a regular hurt, is liekly your hamstrings. My best stretch for that is downward dog. If it's burning, we can talk further....
Mel - :grouphug: and :wizard: Hope a little rest can help. Nothing wrong with onluy runnig 3 days a week. I know my legs are loving not runnign so much right now.
Lisa - OMG. That's a heck of a work out!
Jen - When's your mom going? I'll be back this weekend. HOping all goes well adn this will be my last trip, but the hardest part is yet to come. My ILs have been there for 4 differnt things and have always gotten wonderful care. :wizard: that they can help your mom! SOrry you were sick for the 4th!
Terri - Oh, I fel oyour booty pain, and I've only done 1:45 on teh bike, 2 days apart.
Howard - Please be careful, it's awful hot and sticky to be pushing.
Jackie - lol. NOt too bad for teh ache today. Hope your aches are better soon!
Shan - :grouphug: and :wizard: taht things arelooking better soon. Hope it's not too long before you are happy you went through with it. You've been through so much with training, that I know you will be back in action soon!!
Morgan - Hope you got out yesterdy, but hope you took it easy. 90? :scared1: BTW, slow and easy is how you get your confidence back.
Well, I did a 45 min and 15 min run last night. Through this trianing, I've been thinkign "No problem, I can run 4.5 miles easy." Ummmm, yeah, not so confident now. Yikes was that a looong 15 min.

Thanks everyone. :grouphug:
Lisa, I wouldn't recommend this surgery to anyone right now! It has been tough! I knew going in it wouldn't be easy, though so I shouldn't really complain.
Really I could have dealt with all the pain and swelling if it wasn't for my wounds issue. It is really gross and is a major mental struggle for me right now. Very hard not to cry.
I'm swollen to the point I look like I'm six months pregnant! The size large Fleexes I bought the other day were too small, I finally had to take them off cause it hurt so bad. I got on the scale this morning and I weighed 105, three pounds less than before surgery. I almost couldn't believe it cause I'm like three times as wide as before! I've been reduced to wearing three sundresses I have.
I will survive, though! :thumbsup2

Carrie - I am not sure when my mom is going. They are working on the referral and appointment, so it may not be this week. I was so hoping to get to see you, but these are not the greatest of conditions!
Nothing great and wonderous to report from me. After finally getting the AC back on at work, I was in no condition to work out last night (tho I smelled like I already had!!!). So instead I worked on making some custom clothes for the girls for our August trip. I made DD7 a Tink dress (not costume) (DD5 will get a princess one). I also worked on a Strawberry Shortcake outfit for DD5, tho that one isn't for Disney. I love having girls... and will keep loving them as long as I can make frilly things for them!

Carrie, thanks for the advice. It's definitely a regular hurt, not a burning. I was doing some looking online and, from what I read, I was guessing it was a hamstring issue. I don't know downward dog, but my 9 & 7 yr olds do (their gym teacher at school is a yoga instructor), so I'll have them teach me. Thanks again! :goodvibes

Hi everyone!
PD and well wishes to everyone injured/sick.
WTG for everyone getting out there and doing!
Please watch the heat/humidity combo. Tried going out last night before dinner. Not good. Stopped about 1/2 mile from the house to cross a construction mess and realized everything was swimmy. Hadn't brought anything with to drink since was only planning on 3-4 miles so turned around and walked back. I've had heat stroke once and do not care for a repeat. Think I'll wait until a little later to go out and eat first. And carry liquids.
Have a great day1

Liz: Yes, be careful with the heat/humidity levels. I was just reading an article that recommends getting out early when doing running/walking in the mid-summer times. This is something I really need to do on my longwalk days.
Remember to hydrate more when you are a drippy mess. When the humidity is high and your dripping, the body is not cooling as well as if the humidity was lower and the sweat could evaporate more quickly. Be sure to hydrate the day before and right before going out for the WO.

Julie - SOrry you have pain, but glad it's just the "normal" kind. Hammy strtches can do wonders.
Kim - From my experience, burning pain is a nerve thing. The fact that you have numbness leads me that direction too. I don't think x-rays would shouw a pinched nerve if it wasn't bones pinching it. While it sounds like a nerve, I don't know what nerve runs tha direction or what could be causing it. :guilty:

Hi folks? You miss me? :lmao: Sorry I've been MIA, but a lot of LTO has kept me away from a normal routine. Long story short, my father's been diagnosed with prostrate cancer. I've missed you all, and am very happy to be back in the virtual arms of my WISHmates.
I've just skimmed this week's thread, but will try to keep up-to-date from here on out. I don't have a lot of time to catch up and can't do everyone's posts any justice--so I won't try to catch up with everyone. And this time I actually mean it! ;) (Yay that the weekly thread is so active, though!)
So I'll just say the following: I hope that everyone enjoyed their holidays and that they were filled with lots of family and friends, more than a little laughter, and good running/walking moving. I'm glad so many people are enjoying the summer, that our collective injuries seem relatively minor (PD Shan, Julie, Mel, Kim, and anyone else I missed), that so many of us are participating in a wide variety of events, that old faces are returning to the weekly thread, that new WISHers are dropping by here, and our faithful posters keep the thread moving along and upbeat.

Back to work tomorrow--just couldn't go in today without having a day home to decompress--especially from the border crossing. I respect the Homeland Security people--but why does it take 1-1/2 hours to cross the border!!

Debra: Sorry to hear about your Dad's Diagnosis. My Dad was diagnosed about a year ago. Then went the blood work every 3 month, then biopsies and now the decision as to how to treat it. He did go to 2 other doctors to get other opinions and talked to some other men around his age to see what they did. He and his doctor have decided that "seeding" will be the treatment they will go with. Tomorrow he has a scan to be done to determine where the seeds will go. He can't have any solids tonight, so my mom is out getting some chicken and rice and beans before he gets home. Hope all works out for your Father and it can be treated well.

Hi!
I'd like to introduce myself and join you guys. I'm Jennifer and I'm 21 and I'm from Alabama/Massachusetts (I'm a student at Wellesley College). I started running to get in shape back in March but have found myself getting lazy in the summer (I hope I'm welcome since I'm just doing this to get in shape not lose weight). I have my first 5k on Friday night (the local 5k for St. Jude's) and my goal is to break 30 min (i'd be estatic to break 28 [I've done it in practice] and satisfied under 32). I've been lurking for a while as my long term goal is the Princess half marathon in the spring and am contemplating the Disneyland half next August. (I have two addictions running and disney).
Anyway so far I've run a hilly course on Sunday and Tuesday and a flat course on Monday (3.5 miles each or about 30-35 minutes) today is my day off and my first race is on friday. You guys are all so inspiring!

Hey Team... I did a measly 2 miles on the TM last night. I was sweating like you know what and I was indoors!!! WOW... But alas, I did it and am slowly getting back into the swing of things. I think I now know what burnout does to you! After my 1/2 in May... I had nothing scheduled and it all went downhill from there!!! But I think after 4 1/2's and a full in 2 years, I am allowed a little break... right???
Kristi - Ewww on the brains, but very creative!!!!!

Hi everyone! I'm here. I've been working many hours at work though and haven't been able to run. I wanted to this weekend when I was camping, but I woke up sore. Even sleeping on an air mattress can only do so much in the great outdoors.
I plan on finishing my work early enough to get a run in this evening. Maybe DBF will join me. He only knows that I want to run a 5K in Sept. I've mentioned an 8k and the half to him, but I don't know if he was paying attention. I'll probably tell him 5 more times and then the week before he'll ask me why I didn't tell him yet.

Hello everyone! Greetings from unusually hot and humid Maine! It's still way better here than at home - at least it gets nice and cool at night, and everything cools off again.
After my very disappointing training week last week, I have gotten two really good runs in up here. Yesterday I felt particularly good! I went with my husband, which was a lot of fun since we don't usually get a chance to run together. It amazed me how much faster I am than him. He used to be the runner in the family, but some recent health issues have slowed him down. I am working to get him back on track so that he is ready for the 1/2 in January.
Anyway, I'm feeling good since I am back on track with training for September's Philadelphia Distance Run.
There's no way I can catch up with everyone, but wanted to send   to Shan and Debra. Shan - I wish you all the best as you recover & Debra - good luck to you and your Dad.
Everyone else - keep cool, keep hydrated and take care of yourselves!

Hello, WISH friends and teammates!
Sorry for the LTO bit.... My side job is taking up a lot of my time right now.
First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIZ!!! :cheer2:
Now, to catch up:
MEL: Sorry to hear you are drippy! I have not been a good get-off-the-couch person. I thought I would be better, but no. I do admire your efforts, and you are inspiring me. Tomorrow, I'll work out (tonight I'm going to walk around the county fair). And have a great vacation!
CLAIRE: Be careful on that overheating! For some reason, my body doesn't tell me it is hot, and I get sick in the heat easily because of it. Take it easy! And welcome back to high speed internet!
MONTE: I so admire you for trying this year--and next year, I know you'll get that medal!
TRACY: So sorry about your walk! I'm glad you had a pool to float around in (stupid dark clouds!). I hope you have some rest time planned before your long day, and try to walk early! You're my hero! :)
BRYAN: Welcome! I have no specific advice on your questions because I'm new to this, but it's good to have you here!
PANDA: Hi! Let's hope for temperate next January. Too hot and I might not make it. Too cold and I might not get out of bed! :rotfl:
TERRI: Very inventive cycling along in your living room! (And very clever, Tracy!) Nice job!
ALOHA JEFF: What a description! I bet your daughters will remember these trips with you forever. :)
VIC: DH Tivo'd the Hogans Heroes, which he also loves, so we've been watching it for a couple days now. Hmm... working out WHILE watching television... I think you WISH teammates are onto something. :happytv:
AMY: Glad you got in some beach time. I haven't made it yet (we have had storms every day we planned to). And well done on taking some time out for your personal fitness goals! :thumbsup2 Sounds like you have a good handle on your pacing and feeling good--you need both to be in balance, and it sounds like you did that! Enjoy your Las Vegas trip!
MONICA: Nice job on the 9! Woohoo! :cool1: And a refreshing swim is always a great way to cap it off!
LISA: I don't feel heat either. Great job on having a pit crew available--I hadn't thought of that! And that seems like a LOT of hay....
MONTE: Your comment about being in the Rockies made me laugh--I always look at your photo and think about you at Pop! :rotfl:
CARRIE: First of all, I love the Duck race name. :goodvibes Second, Way to Go on the time! And wow, what a workout weekend you had!
LIZ: I know, right? 22 POUNDS of chicken, which DH looked at and said, "I think that's not enough." Honestly. I wasn't making any more that day (although we all did love it and it fed us for days even after the party). I need to find a local race, but that would require a commitment on my part. ;) I am booked until August, so we'll see what that brings.
MORGAN: I, too, went out over the weekend and did my patriotic duty by shopping. :) You'll get your groove back!
JULIE: :wizard: for your pains, and have a great getaway!
SHAN:  I wish we could make the recovery go faster for you. Rest up and feel better! Surgery sucks. :(
MEL: :wizard: for your PF.
CRAIG: Hi!
HOWARD: Wow! Good job pushing through it. I wish I could run that fast! Feel better! PD to you!
JACKIE: I've let my body talk me into WAY too much time off! Well done getting those steps in anyway! And what an ambitious calendar! :cool1:
JEN: Ick on the broken air conditioning. Glad the cooler air perked you up a bit.
LILY: Hi! It doesn't matter how fast you are moving as long as you keep moving forward....
TERRI: You've got to give up the body to the sport, I guess. On the plus side, you are probably in first place in your event. :cool1:
BILL: Hi!
LISA: Holy cow that's a lot of hay. And my happy place is on the veranda in Adventureland eating a Dole Whip. :)
STEPHANIE: Hope you made lots of great memories on vacation. And good job getting back to getting those steps in!
CARRIE: I read your post to Julie too quickly and got all confused about whether there was a sharp pain or further down burning... Good that I have strong reading skills and thought to read it again slowly... And don't worry: I know you can do the 4.5 :)
SHAN:  Sorry for your troubles, friend. Hang in there.
JEN: Wow--all the workouts AND custom Disney clothes? You are a super mom! :) (And try to love the girls when they hate everything you want them to wear) ;)
KRISTI: Why did it have to be snakes?! Excellent! No comment on monkey brains... :rolleyes1

Sorry--too many smilies. I had to split my post. Where was I....
LIZ: Yikes! Be careful! Drink water!
DEBRA:  My dad had surgery for his prostate cancer 9 years ago, when he was only 48, so I know what you are going through. I hate when dads get sick (and moms, too). Hang in there, and your WISH teammates are always here for you. :)
MAURA: Welcome home. I obviously missed something, or else homeland security it getting really strict about who is allowed to fly to Detroit from Massachusetts... :confused3 Were you in Ireland? Sorry for being lost. :( And PD for your pains!
ANG: I'm with you...slowly getting off the couch and back into the workout thing.... Weirdly enough, it was almost easier when I went to work every day!
TRACY: :wizard: for your dad, too!
MARTHA: I'm with you--I need to find another race to get myself motivated. Good to see you!
JUDY: Hi! it's been hot here at the Jersey shore, except of course for the party this past weekend. And hot for the rest of the week, it seems. Stay hydrated!
JENNIFER: Welcome!
JEN: You talked me into it--I completely support you taking some time off. :) Put your feet up, eat some ice cream...oh, wait, that's what I've been doing. :rotfl: Well, join me! Plenty of room on the sofa! Good job getting those two miles in! And I hope you find a great receptionist soon!
LIZ: I hope you had a super hair day! :) Way to go with those workouts!
KIRA: Enjoy Maine! It is hot and sticky here in the mid Atlantic. :)
CASEY: That race sounds like so much fun! And I'm glad you had a good vacation. :)
DH lifted Mickey restriction, so I'll be at Wilderness Lodge (my first time there) next Thursday to Tuesday. Then I'll be home a day, I have a meeting at school on Thursday, my dad's birthday Saturday, and I'll be away at teacher camp for a week starting Sunday, July 27.
It looks like a storm is blowing in, in which case my trip to the county fair is off. I had wanted to enter my biscotti into the open show, but DH decided to tile the backsplash today. I'm not complaining--it's one step closer to the kitchen being finished. He's in the attic now hooking up the power to the pendant light for the dining room table.
I've been writing this for a couple hours trying to catch up. Let's see if I can stay caught up!
Have a great day, everyone!

Thanks, everyone, for their well wishes, PD, and positive thoughts, and for sharing their own experiences with family members who have prostate cancer. I'm sure my dad will be fine and he's getting good treatment--it was just unexpected news. And you know family (and friends): things like this call for you to gather around the campfire to ward away the darkness. And to make smores! :goodvibes
I'm still catching up. Give me a couple of days...
Mel: Sorry, no suggestions on the hybrid bike. But I'm interested in reading the responses you receive. Also very sorry to hear about the IR. If it's of any comfort to you--and I don't know why it would be--I'm a member of the sweaty, stinky running club. I'm not dewy, or glowy, or muscled sleekness.
Claire: Welcome back. I hope your time at home was fun, aside from the dial-up frustrations. I know others have said so, but be careful with the overheating. But wtg with the 14 miles!
Monte: I think you did a FABULOUS job on the Leadville! I can totally understand why you wouldn't take the medal (but I think you deserved it), and am impressed with your determination to take the summit next year. That's a true athlete.
Terri: Yay for the Tour de Living Room. How exotic!
Bryan: You're so worthy. :worship: I'm new to this whole thing myself, but you have plenty of time to train for the half. So I'd think you could spend some time alternating between your LSD of 10 miles at a sustainable place and a shorter walk at a faster pace for your weekly long walk before bumping up to 11-12 miles. Maybe something like 10 (which you did)-6-10-6-10-8-12?? That's assuming your midweek, shorter walks aren't all at the LSD, too. I'm drawing what little knowledge and experience I have from Bingham's MfM and online plans.
Vic: I used to love Hogan's Heroes. Maybe not 5 miles worth, but still... Congratulations on making that TM time go by quickly with a little TVland fix!
Amy: Woo hoo for your healthy beach weekend. I'm so happy you got to concentrate on you and your girls. Happy legs fit in with the rest of your body, so it sounds like the Galloway plan is working for you. And your Vegas trip will be so much fun, I just know it!
Maura: 1 1/2 hours at the border? Holy banana bread! No wonder you needed a day to decompress. I hope it involved something decadent. I'm sorry to hear you're still experiencing hip/knee pain.
Shan: I'm so sorry to hear about the complications from your surgery. I think I skimmed your post too quickly yesterday, so didn't realize how serious it was until I read the second post more closely. I'm glad, however, that your doctor seems to be optimistic about your return to running and that your DH is being so supportive about the 1/2. (Not that I doubted he would be.) Remember, there are plenty of us WISHers who would be proud to hang with you, too. :thumbsup2
Ang: No, no, no. You're phrasing your accomplishments all wrong. It's "Despite having a total lack of energy lately, I still managed to do a mile yesterday." :thumbsup2 I say Yay for getting out there!
Tracey: I'm sorry to hear about your dad, even if I'm a little selfishly glad to have you to talk to about things. (I'd rather not have your father go through this, of course, so I hope you didn't take my statement the wrong way.) It sounds like he's got a good doctor and has determined a good treatment for his situation. Can I PM you if seeding comes up as an option for my dad?
As for your overheating/ice bath walks....:scared1: I'm glad nothing more serious happened to you and that you're adjusting your training for the heat. I'm impressed with how you can train in the heat, and compete in the heat, but think your new training plan is healthier for Summer '08, the attack of the humid heat wave.
Kristi: Any movement outdoors in that kind of weather is a victory, let alone 3 miles. :thumbsup2 Is Zack enjoying Fitness U? That cake is gorgeous, btw, and now I have a craving for Monkey Brains. :lmao:
Liz: Thanks for the reminder about hydration. It's so easy for the heat to sneak up on us. I've taken to bringing water with me all the time, even on my commuter (non-fitness) walks. I'm glad you listened to your body before things got too serious.
Martha: I didn't know you were doing ToT! :woohoo:
Howard: I reread your post about your 8-miler. Ouch, how hard and even scary. Your attitude about it, though--live and learn--is exactly one of the reasons I admire you! And your taking the time to recount your experiences is very useful for people like me, as your run sounds exactly like something I would try.
Aloha Jeff: Thanks for the positive vibes--that's very you! :goodvibes
I'm glad Les is keeping you on your not-so-slow toes! Your camping/fishing trip sounded like it was beeyouteeful! I love starry night skies.
Kim: It's good to see you back here. And to learn that you're getting out there, safely, in the heat! Yay for your 9K. And 6 months from Marathon weekend?? I think that calls for a little dance! :dance3: P.S. I really hope you get to do VA Beach RNR 2009. That sounds like a WISH party in the making.
Carrie: Yay for your dad's 2+ years and counting! :woohoo: Congrats on the Hungry Duck 1/2 and your 2nd best time. Was this the local race you'd talked about?
Jennifer: Welcome! Two addictions, running and Disney? Add ice cream to the mix and you could be talking about me? (Oh, and a good gin & tonic.) Your 5K times are great, and I'm sure you'll be happy with your first race. Good luck on Friday! :thumbsup2
Jen: Two miles on the Butt Kicker TM is nothing to sneeze at! (Sweat on, yes.) And your break was just that--a break. That, and you had a whole lot of LTO that is hopefully subsiding. You're back in stride now, and I can hear the happiness in your keystrokes.
MLA: I hope your camping trip was fun, overall. Just keep mentioning the running to DBF. He'll hear the plan...eventually. Or he'll put it out of his head until after your races and he gets bling envy. Either way, I'm sure he'll start joining you at events.
Liz: Happy Belated Birthday! Sorry to have missed the celebration. Yay for your Amish camping weekend, though. And woo hoo for your biking and 1.2 on the TM (you did it, even if you didn't enjoy it). Speaking of enjoying, I hope you enjoyed Wall-E?
Kira: Congrats on your two good runs. And I'm not-so-secretly happy that you ran faster than your DH. I mean, I hope he recovers and all. It's just that I think it's good to challenge the family dynamics/roles. Now you're the faster runner. Yay! :cheer2:
Casey: A midnight run. How...bewitching. I think you should definitely do it, because it'd make for a great RR. And yay for running 5x a week. :worship:
Ms. Duckie: Welcome back. Man, if I had your school schedule I'd embrace summer vacation much more than any students. Now you can do important things, like make (me) biscotti. Mmmm. Feel free to share--the recipe, of course. I'll pass on the bbq chicken, although I'm certain your family loved it. What's your side job, btw? OH, and I'm expecting to hear that you've worked out tomorrow, since you promised Mel and all!
As for me: I'm still catching up with the posts, so if I haven't responded to you yet, it's coming. I did 4.5 slow miles today on the TM. Ugh. But I did them. At least I was well hydrated. I also got to watch Regis and Kelly today, which featured a 150-yard high-heel race. What were those people thinking, running in high heels?? :scared1: I don't care if there was a $25,000 first prize. It's just not worth it, IMO. I can't even walk in those things!
ms.mightyduck
07-09-2008, 07:29 PM
Debra: I will gladly share the biscotti with you. :goodvibes It's my holiday recipe (pistachio cranberry) that I make for my dad.
I wait for the end of school--I'm so exhausted by the time June comes! I haven't been off my butt yet, but I'll be working out before I post tomorrow! :)
For my side job, I do weddings. :) It's the season!
(PS My new microwave has a "melt" setting and one codes is for marshmallows--we microwaved smores last week!)

Quickly checking in...
Timmy just had his first major accident today. While running around the house, his latest pasttime  , he slipped in the kitchen and partially knocked one of his few teeth back into the gum a little. :sad2: Now to wait for the dentist to call back and see what damage was done.
We were kind of hoping that the other teeth would come out and not have him put the ones he had back in. Of course he is back to running around the house again so I guess it didn't hurt too much.
As for training, it actually didn't rain Monday and I was able to get 4 miles in. Of course it was hot and humid as usual but I forced myself to keep going. After reading some of the previous posts, perhaps I shouldn't have done that. I also just pretended that the flashes in the clouds were a reflection from leftover fireworks... Then today I biked to work since it wasn't supposed to rain. The weather held out and I wasn't soaked due to rain this time.

Jennifer - :welcome: Good luck on your 5K Friday!
Jen - Congrats on the 2 miles. You were probably due a break, but you're right, getting started again is no fun!
Duckie - I'm in your happy place with you. The wallpaper on my cell phone is a picture of a Dole Whip!
Terri - I could have used you to draft off of today. I joined you in the Tour de Living Room, and when I got tired I had to pretend you were there to take a turn up front. DH and DD kept laughing at me and telling me I wasn't going nearly as fast as the riders were, but I kept pedaling along. (I only did 1:10, but it was a decent workout)
Lisa - Definitely meant Va Beach 2009. Apparently exercise is not helping my brain stay focused... :rotfl:
pixiedust: and  for everyone dealing with ailing parents.
Martha - We've missed you!
Judy - Two miles is two miles. You got it done.
Casey - That half sounds like fun! We did a 5K on New Year's Eve that started at midnight and ran through a holiday light display - it was a totally different experience!
I pretty much said it all in my post to Terri. Rode the bike for 1:10 - 19 miles - while watching the Tour this afternoon. I hadn't done any cycling for 4 weeks, so it was good to give the legs something different. I'm scheduled to do a 3 mile run tomorrow. Also have an appt with the chiro in hopes that he can work out the kinks in my calves before my LR on Saturday!

Duckie - :worship: amazing posts catching up with EVERYONE! :worship:
Debra - :worship: you too! :worship:
The monkey brains are really not that gross. Just red & blue jello all mixed up / chopped up, and a few gummy worms thrown in for fun. ;)
I didn't get any exercise in. :sad2:
BUT, I have been on the go all afternoon, getting ready for an impromtu camping trip this weekend. Just yesterday my friend and I decided to take the kiddos and leave the hubbys home. (we aren't the brightest bulbs - we should have sent the kids away with the husbands & stayed home!) It should be fun, we are going to Santa's Village again. The campground is having Christmas in July this weekend. Everyone decorates their sites, they have a yankee swap, and hayrides with Mrs. Claus. Too cute!

Trying to keep up with my training for the DL 1/2 is very tough in 105 heat and air quality above 210, but I'm trying. I really do hate that treadmill, though!

Jennifer - Welcome!
Jackie - Glad you joined the Tour!:)
Casey - welcome back from vacation
Kira - enjoy those cool Maine nights. It's gonna be sticking hot in Philly this weekend (just in time for my race):scared1:
I decided to skip the Tour today (and give my booty a break :lmao: ), so I took a change of clothes with me so I could get a r/w in after work. I only planned on going 2 miles. I got back to my office and I was soaked - no, not from being a sweaty WISHER, I got caught in a downpour. I had only gone about 1/2 mile when the skies opened up. There was nowhere to go for cover. So I turned around and headed back to the office. What a sight I was. But 1 mile is better than nothing. Tomorrow I have a friend's B-day dinner in the evening, so I'm gonna have to get up early to getr the run in before work. ugh!

Duckie I loved staying at Wilderness Lodge (better than Animal Kingdom). We had a room that was on the end of the wing facing out to the water (there are like four rooms on a little "stub" wing perpendicular to the main hallways). Every night I could watch the Electric Water Parade (or whatever it's called) from my bed-Sweet! And have a Dole Whip for me (or even a Pineapple float)--I will have one back for you next month when I'm there (Aug 11-17 at OKW) And the border crossing was by car--coming back from MA we go through Ontario--its' never a problem to get into Canada, just getting back into US.
Casey What a cool sounding 1/2! I think that could be suitably scary too with the right special effects! And beach running sounds really good--although much more work--6 miles probably felt like 12!
Bill Ouch on the teeth thing! Kids are resilient though. When our daughter was at Girl Scout camp several years ago, she fell off the bunk and chipped her two front teeth (permanent ones). She was upset at the thought that we would come and take her home! Quick check with the dentist, who said "no problem" and we left her there. Of course, we subsequently had her teeth bonded and veneered--they look great, but no corn on the cob anymore!
Michelle Good luck on your tri! Looks like my goal to do one will have to wait til next year--but I guess the bright side is I'll be in a new age group!
Did 0.5 miles today and 50 minutes of weights and stretching/foam rollering. 'Nuff said.

Debra--lots of prayers and PD coming your way for your Dad!
Duckie--Let me know how you like WL. We are staying at the villas over Labor Day weekend for dniece's bday. We've never stayed there before either, but are really excited. DS loves boats, so being able to take the boat to MK was a big plus
Got in the gym yesterday. Just can't workout outside right now. There is a reason that the Little Rock Marathon is in March--you don't have to do any major training in the summer. We did have a cool down yesterday--all the way into the 80s! So, I opted for the bike. Did 7.1 miles and then about 15 minutes of leg weight work. Today will be abs (what are those again?) and Zumba!

Hi everyone!
I must apologize for my long absence.... things have been a combination of extremely busy and not so great around here the past little while so that has really limited my time available to post. Thankfully it looks like most of those issues have been worked through, so I'm back in the saddle...
A couple of weeks after the huge fiasco of Minnie Weekend, I developed a pretty significant case of sciatica. And being a guy, I decided the only way to take care of such a thing was to ignore it and keep on running through the pain. That didn't work so well... so the past six weeks have been a combination of pain killers, chiropractic ART, acupuncture  and rest.
I finally got the all clear to get back out on the roads this week and while I'm not back to 100% of where I was, I think I can get there before "official" training for Goofy begins.
I know that I have a ton to catch up on, but I miss my WISH training family :guilty: (and hopefully they'll have me back... ;) ) and I give full carte blanche for you all to hunt me down like a dog if I stop posting again. After all, if I don't post.... well, I tend not to train. And this year, I'd like to be able to walk the week after Goofy.......
I'm off to catch up on the past two months of posts... I think I'll need to take notes...
All my best and Happy training,
Kevin :earsboy:

I have missed you soooooooo much!!! :upsidedow You'd better PM me with your contact information so I don't have to rely on your posting to kick your butt all the way to the Goofy. :woohoo:
Now, what I think you need is a really good massage.....OK it might not help the sciatica but it can take your mind off the pain for a while. ;)
Oh you poor thing. Gently

Woohoo! My Macbook Pro is working again! (temporarily) Some kind of screen issue where 2/3 of the screen goes gray and has vertical stripes. Applecare thinks it's probably a hardware issue, but I can't take it in until next week and they can't make appointments that far out....
Anyway, I'm here. My workout today consisted of picking organic blueberries for a couple hours (23 pounds). We're supposed to go walking later tonight, but DH is grouting the backsplash (which looks great, I must say!).
MiaBanda: Hi!
Terri: Sorry to hear about the delay in Tour de Living Room. I bet even with a day off, you're still winning. :)
Racey Tracy: Hi! We haven't decided on marathon weekend yet... If it's up to me, it'll be Beach Club! I need to contact Mel about the orders, but I saw a post that they usually start a little later on that...
Robert: Good to see you up and about!
Aloha Jeff: Thanks, I try. Deb has set the bar high, I must say!
Maura: I told DH that you loved it; it made him feel a lot better. He really did not want to stay at POR because he hates all the bus stops--I know he'll love the boat! You can be sure I'll have that Dole Whip for you, too! http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh165/msmightyduck/3e9ea51f.jpg
Canada...I didn't think of that. :) They always asked me a lot of questions to get back in, too.

Debra- Yes the two addictions are Disney and Running. (although I'm more of a frozen yogurt girl myself).

Hello all...
Maura: Sorry to hear that the Ortho was useless. Keep at the PT - it will make a difference!
Jennifer - Wellesleyprincess: Welcome, Come on in and join the party. Good luck at your race.
Jen117: 2 miles is 2 miles no matter how you write it. (see previous). I guess your break is over so get out there and get to it.:)
Kira: Glad to hear the training for the Phiily Run is coming along great.
Casey: That race, the ET Full Moon 1.2) sounds like something I would do. Have much fun.
Bill: How is your son's tooth??
Duckie: Thanks so much for the best wishes and pixie dust. For someone who has her summers off, you're a busy little lady. Keep up with the walking. I think that's cool that you do weddings on you time "off."
Debra: Yeah, I'm still modifying my "Summer 08 - Attach of the Humid Heat Wave" training program. I'll see how it works.
Kevin: Kevin......hmmmmm..., Oh yeah, I remember you, I think. Nice to have you back. Take care out there in our lovely S.FL heat and humidity!! Hope the beach is cooler.
Jeff, Amybeth & Scott, Michelle and all others...::wave2:
As for me: Still working on my summer 08 training program. I was at my happy place after work today for 4 miles - Mount Trashmore and yes I was a dirty girl when I got home. Loved it but the sun was pretty warm and my face was not only red but almost purple!! My new program I take Mondays off. Walk 4 miles on Tues, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday and Saturday can be core work, bike riding or swimming. Wednesday I did 20 min in the pool.
Trying to get my plans settled for what I'm doing during the DL 1/2 weekend. Almost there.
Take care everyone.

Quick sprint by...
Heading out the door from work, to do my usual 8 with Guru Les. I'll try to do 9 minute pace today. Check back later.
Yeah, tomorrow is Aloha Friday!:thumbsup2
I'm back. I was feeling good today, as I ran 8.13 miles, part way up Diamond Head, at 8:40 average pace. Jeeze, Les had me running smooth today. No loss of breath, and still able to have a conversation.
For anyone looking to improve their speed, find yourself a faster runner to train with. It really improves your running pace!

Hi everyone! I didn't get a chance to run last night after work due to thunder storms. Once they cleared out it was pretty close to dark and really steamy. I gave myself the night off ( I feel really guilty when I do that :confused3 ).
I also kind of saved myself for a 5K that I knew I would be running today. I ran the Catherine Rooney's Irish Pub 5K which benefitted the Delaware Ulster Project. Here are the results of my efforts:
Miles: 3.1
Time: 25:17
Pace: 8:09
Splits:
6:59
8:24
9:58 (up hill at the end.... ugh :headache: )
The official results are not posted but I think I may have come in top 10 in my age bracket, not really sure though. There are some fast men out there in my age group.
Here are the results from my last 3 5K's (all this summer) since graduate school ended:
Andrew McDonough Memorial 5K......6/20......26:23......8:34
Wellness Community Run for Cliff......6/22......25:32......8:13
Catherine Rooney's 5K....................7/10......25:17......8:09
Keep up the training!

Howard--Awesome race! You are getting super speedy!
AlohaJeff--sub-9:00 pace up Diamond Head--you rock!
Last night was Zumba. We had a substitute instructor last night and she was so hard on us. She pushed the 45 min class to over an hour and really worked us out. She was really funny saying that if we just wanted to dance we could go to a club, we came to workout and she wasn't going to waste our time. I am very sore this morning. I also did about 15 min of ab work.
Today maybe or may not be a rest day. Depends on what DD decides to do today. If she decides zoo or movie, rest day--if she wants to go to the club pool, might as well hit the gym if I'm already there.

Thanks everyone for the kind wishes... I can't tell you how good it feels to finally get back out there after such a long layoff. But SHEESH I feel out of shape....
Judy-- I sent you a PM. A massage sounds nice for sure.... I had one a couple weeks ago and it actually did wonders. Somehow I need to figure out how to go back more frequently. You are officially zebra-btt kicker numero uno.
Carrie-- Hope things are a little less chaotic now... I heard something about a triathlon?? :worship: :worship:
Tracey-- Define "cooler...." This is my first Florida summer and I DEFINATELY need to figure out a way to modify my training. Guess I need to start getting up at 5am to run.... But hey... at least it stopped raining!!
Howard-- :worship: :worship: Yeah... ain't no way I'm keeping up with you this year. No way, no how.
So I ran an easy 2 miles at 20:55 today... not my best pace for sure, but I was pain free and my cardio felt all right... However, I didn't quite believe it when the computer said it was 85 degrees at 9am, but it was. :faint" There's just no way to get used to that kind of heat....
Have a great weekend and happy training all!

Carrie-- Hope things are a little less chaotic now... I heard something about a triathlon?? :worship: :worship: Not sure if teh chaos is over. The stress sure isn't. :guilty: Training for a new adventure is just keeping us sane right now. See below. It's the abbreviated version.
Quick update on FIL: FIL got stem cell/bone marrow transplant today. Of course, teh only reason we're here is because Scott got sick adn sick peole really shouldn't visit those without an immuune system. Go figure. :sad2: So, at least there's a calm weekend at home on tap. Things should get better from here out, though.
Given that I had a half day already scheduled, I took it off anyway. Got some rock for my garden adn spent 2 hours movign and planting them. (Over 400 pounds) So, I got my XT!

I wish they'd let us know when everyone is planning to leave en masse! I'm beginning to feel a little left out - keep checking the computer and finding out that no one has posted in hours, or even days!
Anyway, I'm just happy it's Friday, and I can report that I've worked out for 8 consecutive days. Assuming I get up and meet the group for our 14 miler tomorrow, it will be 9 days. I had to fight with my legs on the TM yesterday - we compromised at a 2.5 mile run with a .5 mile walk added for a total of 3 - after my Tour de Living Room the night before, apparently they weren't up for running at 5:30AM. I got even with the legs though - went to the chiro and let him work on the cramp in my calf - walked out of his office whimpering, but I think I'm on the road to recovery now! :)
Howard - AMAZING times! :worship:
Kevin - Welcome to the South! You're right - you never get used to the heat.
Duckie/Stephanie - The boat is our favorite part about WL. AKL is my favorite (WL is a VERY close 2nd), but DH and DD prefer WL because of the transportation.

HEY TEAM REMEMBER ME???:confused3
I'm sorry I keep coming and going but the good thing is I know everyone here understands how it goes. The other good news is, my lack of posting does not mean lack of training. In fact I pulled off a whole 7 (hot, sweaty, icky, nasty, disgusting) miles last Saturday morning and I survived.
I have still been trying to throw in the cross training, spinning, yoga, wieghts and I did run 5 on the treadmill tues night with some little intervals of "picking up the pace" . The knee continues to improve in fact by Tuesday it was virtually pain free for the first time since MINNIE and then as I always do when I am feeling good, I pushed it too hard on the treadmill and it is nagging a little again. But it continues to improve!!!!
Getting a little nervoud about starting marathon training next month. My goal is to build up to 10 by August 1 when we start "training". I am still trying to find a training plan that seems to suit us, since when we trained for our 1/2 2 years a go we did not follow a plan, just kind of did "whatever".
Sorry this post is all about me I have not had any time to catch up but I really wanted to jump on here and say HI I miss you guys.

Hey, you heard me! :woohoo:
Jackie & Angie :wave2:
Uh, Jackie, you're overtraining. Always have one day of rest between workouts. Your body needs to recover. 8 hours of sleep, and naps if you can get them.
Don't end up looking like this :headache: .

Jeff - Thanks for the concern, but I'm not really training as hard as it may sound. Schedule looks something like this:
Sun - Upper body/Pilates (:30 total)
Mon - 3 mile run
Tue - Upper body/Pilates
Wed - Bike
Thu - 3 mile run
Fri - Upper body/Pilates
Sat - Long run
I'm doing the upper body stuff at home with 10 lb weights, so we're not talking heavy duty workout, and the legs definitely get a day off in between (except for this week when the bike fell the night before the run - that wasn't supposed to happen!) I'll probably take Sunday as a complete rest day to recover completely.
And naps? My favorite thing! :thumbsup2

Aloha Jeff: I heard you! Here I am!
WellesleyPrincess: Sounds like you got a good workout in. Good job!
Racey Tracy: I tell myself that I have the summer "off" to help me get through the school year. I never really have the summer off--teacher camp, work, weddings, and WDW always fill up my time! I was hoping we'd get to Biscayne National Park this summer, but I don't think it's in the cards. My uncle (who asked us to visit him in Miami Lakes) is in Taiwan visiting my other uncle and then in California at his stepson's wedding in August. Maybe next summer!
Howard: Woohoo! Well done! You're really fast!
Stephanie: Wow--busy! Great work getting the steps in! Um, what's a Zumba? :confused3
Kevin: I have so much trouble working out in the heat--I admire you (and the rest of the tropical part of our team) for doing it all the time. I had asked my dr if my need to use my inhaler once an hour was a lot during the Minnie, but he said not in that kind of weather! I can't imagine how much hotter it is now!
Carrie: You planted 400 pounds of rocks? Sounds like you're going to grow an entire petrified forest!
Jackie: I'm still here! Way to go on 8 days of workouts--I need to get off the sofa! [Deb, Mel, keep reading--I was off the sofa today] And I'll let you know what I think of WL. We stayed in AKL for our honeymoon (I wanted to stay there this time since DH is seriously contemplating AK DVC), but I couldn't sleep through the night because I kept getting up to see who was outside. DH kept asking what I was doing (Look! Ankole cattle!). :sad2: I think he's going to like the boat.
Angietuck: So glad to see you! Wow--that's a lot of working out. I really need to buckle down...
As for me.... We went to the beach today. I walked about a mile on the soft sand (my calves were burning!) and did little sprints on the wet sand by the water's edge with the dog. I'm going to get some working out in while we watch tv tonight. The backsplash is almost done (I just sat on the couch and offered advice--i didn't actually DO it), and the kitchen is starting to come together. I've been meaning to ramp up the exercise to slim my thighs for WDW, but that's wishful working out anyway.
WDW question: Cali grill a nice dinner for grownups even if you have to take an early evening ressie? Or should we look for someplace else (we've never eaten there)?
Have a great evening!

Well, DD's choice was to go swimming today--so since I was already at the club, got a workout in. 3.25 miles in 30min. Not to shabby considering I'm running next to nothing right now! And then a little arm work--then off to relax/bake at the pool.

Hey all, I'm Here JEFF!!!
I'm always here and I think you and I were the only ones around last week for a few days. Nice running at Diamondhead!!
Duckie: Hey girlfriend!! Nice workout at the beach (I still can't picture a beach in New Jersey - hehe) Miami Lakes is about a 30-40 min drive south from me. There are lots of nice county/state/ and national parks down here in Southern Florida. WL and AKL sounds nice, maybe one day I'll get to stay there. Tend to do the POP thing alot and since we got about 3-4 times a year its affordable that way. Keep up with staying off the couch!!
Kevin: I mean cooler because you tend to get better breezes coming off the ocean that I do, being that I am more inland than you. Yes, I find getting up early and getting it done it much easier on the body. Later it is just hotter and its hotter at 5pm than it is at 6am. Also being that it is your first summer here, my advice is to keep and eye on a few things, temp/humidity and wind. If the temp and humidity numbers are almost the same then be VERY careful. No matter how much you sweat it will not evaporate and just dripps off of you and actually makes you feel warmer, if there is a good breeze then it will feel better. Even throwing water over you doesn't work well because again it won't evaporate. Good luck and keep up the training.
As for me - I did my Summer Training/beat the humid heat wave 08 schedule and it was kinda hard to change my routine. I had to go home after work to feed my dog (not one else at home) let her out, changed clothes and went out and did my 4 miles. A bit sweaty, but had a great breeze this evening coming from the East. So tomorrow I will not walk!!!!! I will some other cross training and then try and get 10 miles in on Sunday. I just got my new pair of NB902s in the mail and I am lacin then up as I speak. Next up: bowl of Edy's Light Cookies and Cream Ice cream with Hershey's SHell chocolate topping. Yum!!

Ice cream before training. I tend to reward myself after my runs, but I like your style! :thumbsup2

Hey everyone!
Just a quick drive by as someone seems to think we need to do the things on the To Do list....:confused3
Temps here today 90 with high humidity so took the workout inside. 13 miles on bike, 1.65 on TM and 30 min stretching/core. Feel pretty good.
Want to get in 6 miles walking tomorrow but once again they're calling for storms. Guess I'll see if I can find a break during the day to get out there. Really don't want to do 6 miles on the TM. :headache: Sunday is a big bike ride so can't switch days either.
Sorry all about me, but gotta run. Hopefully I'll have time Sunday to catch up.
Have a great weekend!!

Jeff: NOnononononono....I already did my 4miles, took a shower, ate my dinner and answered some emails. Watched some SPEED TV and now I'm doing the icecream!! It's 9:20pm here.

Here's Robin and DH posing on the beach today.
Also, DH made a bid for Pop, but I wanted 5th anniversary romance. :) I hope at some point we can find ourselves at one of these lovely resorts together. :)
Shan and Jackie: Thanks, I'll look into booking it.
Aloha Jeff: We did Spoodles last summer (wonderful!). We had lunch at Cindy's a couple years ago and that was a nice time, too. I was considering Narcoosees, too...
Liz: I hate when *someone* makes us do stuff on the to do list! Say hi to Pat for us!
Tracy: My mother baked some of the blueberries we picked into a pie, and today my brother's friend stopped by and refused to wait until the pie was cooled to eat it. You should have seen his shirt after he attempted to eat hot blueberry pie while driving. And his pants. They were blue, too....

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring. He went to bed and bumped his head and couldn't get up in the morning. :lmao:
It is raining and lightening outside right now. Sure it's cooled down but you wouldn't want to be out in it. I guess I will settle in to watch some NASCAR.
I did some XT today with a bike ride this morning, very nice breeze today and not as much humidity. As you can hear though, that has changed. DOn't know how long the wet weather will continue but I have 10 miles on schedule for tomorrow. I may have to borrow my sisters TM for the 2 1/2 hours that I may need it for.
Have a good evening...

Mel: I want to make sure I get this in this week. Happy Birthday!!!!! You deserve a cake AND ice-cream party! Favorite flavors of both?
Bill: So sorry to hear about Timmy's accident. It's good to hear that he's over the trauma, even if you and Linda will take a little longer to get there. It does sound like you're dealing with the incident with your usual aplomb, though.
Jackie: Mmm, Dole Whip. What a good happy place. And your pic is so portable! Your biking idea (and Terri's) sounds like just the thing to shift up a routine. :thumbsup2 Working out for 8+ consecutive days? You are the woman, woman! I assume you're feeling great by challenging yourself like this and hope you're not overtraining. (It sounds like it's the former, as your plans indicate, so woo hoo!)
Kristi: Impromptu camping trip?? Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun, if of a non-relaxing type. Still, active vacation getaways are good. And the Christmas in July sounds cool--hopefully in more ways than one. What is the campfire treats for a Christmas in July, btw?
MBMichelle: Wow, your DL 1/2 training sounds grueling. I'm certain the TM is less pleasant than being outdoors but safer in that weather. I missed wishing you luck on your tri, but hope it went well and the heat wasn't too oppressive today.
Terri: Yep, better to get that one mile in than nothing! And given how hot and sweaty it's been for everyone, you almost make being caught in a downpour sound refreshing! As I'm sure the sight of you was for your co-workers. Remember, athletes have the last laugh with our healthy, toned bodies.
Tracey: When did you acquire the moniker Racey Tracey? I hate missing good stories! :sad2: How's that plan for the DL 1/2 shaping up? I guess you'll have a better sense after Sunday's 10 miler--I hope the weather clears up for you so that you can get a sense of how it works without the TM. From what I read on your training and RRs you look to be in very good shape, weather notwithstanding. (I mean, you'll be more acclimated than many, but it's still gonna be tough, I think.) And how are your NB902s working for you? I'd ask how the Edy's is working for you, but I think I already know the answer. (Tonight is Karamel Sutra for us--long after it counts as a treat for running!)
Maura: I saw my very first Electrical Light Parade on my April trip. That's worth staying at the WL, I think. Very nostalgic. How's the stretching and foam rollering working for you?
Stephanie: Indoors sounds like the way to go right now. Plus, you're getting all that good XT classes in, you and your abs! (I'm still looking for mine--as I think they're an urban legend.) Your Zumba instructor sounds very good, in a challenging kind of way. But I like the idea of just Zumba-ing for the dancing! After all, the fitness kind of club I belong to is the only kind of club I go to, so if I want to dance it's got to be there. :confused3 :lmao: P.S. One of the things I think is so cool about your posts is that your DD is part of your active lifestyle, and that she's going to grow up with that mindset.
Carrie: Better is a great thing to report. Each day, we're working on getting a little better. And 75 minutes is nothing to make light of! :thumbsup2 I hope your FIL's prognosis is good--how's he feeling. And how are you and Scott?
Kevin:  for your sciatica and "guy" response. It's no consolation, but I can see myself doing the same thing if I were in your running shoes and so your story works as a cautionary tale. Thank you, but I'm sorry it happened to you. I'm glad to hear you're on the mend, still dedicated to the Goofy, and looking at being 100% by the time training starts. Oh, and thanks for the permission to keep you posting. I like to think I have a nose for tracking people down, sort of like Sam Spade--and not like a bloodhound. Your 2 miler--pain free and in that heat--predicts good things for your running. Take it easy!
Frank: Frank, where you been? Not bogged down by football right now. Hopefully it's because you're doing lots of fun things that you're too embarassed to share here. Forget your inhibitions. Do tell!
Ms. Duckie: I'd love the biscotti recipe. DFIL loves biscotti, and it would be a tasty holiday treat. What do you do for weddings? Take pictures? (What great pics, btw! Is it me, or do DH and Robin have the same expression?) Oh, and 23 pounds of blueberries in a couple of hours? You should go pro! I love the POR because of the boat, too. We rent a car, so we don't deal with Disney busses. Just not worth it for us. On a side note, I'm so positive you're going to love WL that you'll never consider POR again. Do, do, do the Cali Grill even on an early reservation. Great service. And you can hang out afterwards with a drink to see the sunset. Beautiful.
And I've felt vary gratified to read you've been off the couch....I only "nag" you so that I feel obligated to leave my very comfortable futon, which is just set up perfectly for DVD-viewing in air-conditioned comfort. :goodvibes I actually envy you the variety of your workouts and activities that are real-life (not structured) exercise.
Jennifer: Frozen yogurt. Mmmm. Basically, if it's frozen and dairy I'll eat it. Or dairy-like. I'm not choosy. I missed wishing you luck on your race, but hope you'll post a RR on it! I'm sure you did well.
Aloha Jeff: I've been meaning to say this, but it really does sound like running with Guru Les has its benefits. Your pace is great as is the ease with which you describe your runs! :worship: Oh, and ice cream is a way of life, a calling, an avocation if you will. I'm sure many would agree: you, Tracey, Scott, Mel, Carrie, and....
Howard: Great race--and phenomenal first mile split. (That hill--ugh is the nice word for it.) Do you know how you did in your AG? No matter, you ran a great 5K overall, and for a good cause! :thumbsup2
Angie: So good to see you back here. Congrats on your 7 miles! I'm glad you're really striving to avoid pushing yourself into a reinjury. You're making improvements, not only with your running and pace, but with listening to your body. I hope you remember that. I'm sure that all your XT is helping you recover. What kinds of training plans are you looking at? And what about DH, who has his own injuries if I recall?
Liz: I find it helps if ice cream is on the "to do" list. I hope your weather holds up so that you can run outdoors. I feel so bad for everyone who hates the TM.... Good luck with tomorrow's bike ride!
As for me: It's been hard for me to post this week, what with the LTO and DOOD's idea that summer is for beach-blanket bingo and other assorted forms of seasonal fun. We went for our first gallery walk Friday, saw some of the local artists' work. It was fun, but hot. Today's been a scorcher, so we ran to the gym, worked out, and ran home. It sounded like a good idea at the time, splitting up our runs. But running to the air-conditioned gym is a much better idea than leaving the gym, already hot and sweat, and running home when you're already tired. My time on the second run isn't worth talking about, except to make everyone feel speedy in comparison.
Now we're off for a walk now that the sun is setting. It'll end in the above-mentioned ice cream. Big surprise, huh? I'd say that's what summer is for, but we do this year round. :lmao:

It has been a while since I have posted in here. I haven't been MIA from my training, just my sanity. I think I am slowly getting that back (but depending on who you ask, that may be impossible.:lmao: ) so hopefully, you will see me around a little more.
Today, was a good day. I went to the gym to workout my chest and had a good workout. During such, I asked a friend for a goal for my cardio training. She told me to do 8 miles in order to start my training for the 1/2. She also said for me to make sure that I am staying in the 15 minute mile range. Well, I did 10 miles instead and averaged just a little over 14 minutes per mile. My time was 35 minutes faster than the last time I did a 10 mile walk. I still have a long way to go to feel comfortable about being able to finish the 1/2 in January but I also have plenty of time. I am sure with your suggestions and support, I will make it with time to spare.:yay: :woohoo:

Bryan: I think at this point there is no need to worry about finishing the half!! (Your not a worry wart are you ??:) ) The time limit is to keep a 16min mile pace once you cross over the start line and if you are already doing 10 miles with a sub 15 then you are practically ready. I am just doing my 10 miles in my training schedule for th DL Half at the end of next month. I tend to like 8-9 miles as long distances so when it gets longer my pace slows a bit and especially here in S.FL. in the summer. You ARE going to do just fine and ARE going to finish with time to spare - believe me. Continue with your great WOs.
Debra: Not sure how the Racey Tracy got started, I think after a race report or something I signed it that way and then people started writing it. It's cool, I now have a few aliases. hehe.
I just may end up at the TM tomorrow, not my favorite thing, but rain is supposed to be worse. My sister has a new TM in her garage with a TV and fan. No A/C so I'm sure there will be sweat and bordom involved.
