Sanford airport questions?

We are arriving to Orlando in Sanford airport, which I know is north of the city. Do I have any alternate means of getting to WDW from there besides a rental car? How hard is it to drive from the airport to I-4? Will appreciate for any info you can give me.

There are shuttles (not Mears) available and limo services will also pick up from Sanford although the cost is slightly more than from MCO because of the distance and fee they have to pay to the airport. You can check the Sanford Airport site and it will list the transportation available from there.

I know that the towncar services will pick you up there because I asked Happy Limo about it once. We were considering taking Pan Am, but ended up sticking with ATA into MCO. But they said a pickup at Sanford would be no problem.

When we used ******** last week I asked Rabittsz if he picked up at Sanford because we can sometimes get some good fares for PanAm. He said he does so you might want to try him.

Thank you very much fellow neighbors for all of your information!! I've got a very good price out of the Gary/Chicago airport for just $200 and am quite excited because if this works out, my family can probably afford to go tp WDW more often. Bildmouse. have you used the Gary airport before? What is it like? Being from Northwest Indiana, it is just so much more convenient. Thanks again!!

We have used Gary Airport once and were quite happy with it. The parking is secured, close to the terminal and free. We didn't use it on our trip last week because we couldn't find a direct flight to fit our time frame. My DH refuses to go up and down more than once and DD has a problem with her ears even when she uses Earplanes so a direct flight is a must. PM me if you have any other questions.

Actually, I'm really not that worried about security at Gary, I've never heard about anything bad happening there. It's probably safer than O"Hare or Midway since it's so small, but the name Gary makes people somewhat justifiably nervous. What I have worried about in the past is the airport and/or Pan Am going under and leaving us with useless tickets. Got burned once with Kiwi. I just hate the ride to ORD.

I have read a lot of negative about PanAm but our experience with them was very good. That was in May of 2000. I have never been on a plane with so much leg room and the service from the flight attendants was great. I wish there was another airline using Gary but I guess we'll just have to wait and hope things go well with PanAm.
