You guys were great with offering me alternatives to the dreaded Mear's shuttle. Two more dumb question: 1)Can you reserve a Towncar so that you are guaranteed to have one for a specific time? and 2)Is the price per person or for the whole group? I gotta get savvier about my travel!
Thanks,
Sandy

Yep, you can reserve a town car for the time you want. When get flight info, just call them with info and they will meet you and help you with luggage, and also if you know you will need transportation elsewhere like Sea world or Universal, you can schedule that also either after pick up from airport or call them. I know Your Ride and Tiffany do this. MUCH better than Mears and no stops along the way either-straight there and back. Also some offer free stops to grocery store from airport to hotel too. MEARS doesn't do that!.

Thank you! CAnnot tell you how much of a stress relief this is! Why on earth haven't I thought of this before????? I know....I had not discovered this site before the other times we went and Mears is what the travel agent told us to use! I just love this website.
Thanks again,

Don't feel bad...at least you eventually discovered this information!
It was the same way for hubby and I. We used Mears simply because Disney sent us coupons. Then I discovered the internet (actually, that was back in the days when I hung out on the AOL message boards) and learned about towncars. Now I'd never do it any other way! Even to Port Canaveral for our Disney cruises, we take Happy Limo rather than the DCL bus. The bus does not make multiple stops, but we seem to have a talent for sitting in front of "sugar kids" who amuse themselves by kicking out morse code on the back of our seats for the whole trip. In a towncar, we can just relax. You pick the time you want and the towncar will be there...in all the times we've used them, Happy Limo has never been late (although they've been early, as we've discovered on the rare occasions when we've arrived early--it was nice to get going right away).

DW and I were like many other people in that we used Mears shuttle for our first few trips to WDW. We have since used Tiffany Towncar, except for last December, when we went to the Regis and Kelly show at WDW. The package included transportation with Mears. This cattle call reminded us of why we use Towncar services. The price is for the car, not per person.

Thank you all for not making me feel like an idiot! Sounds like Mears really has a racket going in Orlando! I just had no idea that there was a better way. Makes me mad that Mears has ever gotten any of our money! No more!
Thanks again,

Oh my... I never had a problem with Mears before. Why are you people so angry?

My anger isn't directed at Mears personally...just at not knowing that there was a better way for so long. It is sooooo tedious to stop at all those hotels. We even took Transtar once (a Mears competitor that no longer runs out of MCO) just because they told us they would accept our coupon and that our hotel was the first stop. That was like a luxury, even tho' we were crammed in with lots of other people. But towncars are 100 percent better! I'm just angry at all the time wasted in transit that could have been spent at the parks.

I used Mears Cattle Car service once. Never again.
We had to wait at the airport for quite awhile until the bus was full. Then we stopped at at least four resorts before we got to mine. Many kids were crying and whining. One kid was vomiting. An obnoxious couple was arguing quite loudly. It's soooooo worth it to spend the extra $30 for a car service!

there's also ********.com - I haven't used them, but am considering it for my next trip.
Tcar service seems equal to and cheaper than Mears.

I guess I've been lucky. I've used Mears 5 times and never had a problem.

We stopped using Mears two years go when our group went from 3 members to 4. We only stopped using them because it was more cost effective to use a town car. We never had any problems at all with Mears, never waited more than 15 minutes; we made a few stops enroute to the hotel, but we were in and out very quickly on each of the stops. I would certainly use them again.

... have only used Mears on one visit to WDW/Orlando.
However it was not the service I was most put with.
It was the inability to go where I want, when I want.
In other words the complete lack of freedom that comes from relying on a thrid party as your transport provider. As an Airport shuttle, fine. As attraction transport, probably not.
I had no problems with Mears. They were timely, friendly and very attentive to my needs.
But saying that, I would prefer the freedom of driving myself everywhere.
