For those with red clay or a bad back, this is a way of layering on top of sod or clay...I'm going to give it a try this summer.

Interesting Amid.

I guess when I filled in Devils Ditch ( a gully in between mine and the neighbors yard) this is what I did. For years I dumped this area with grass, leaves and pine needles. It now filled in and I've topped it with soil.

I have a lasagna garden. lol.

You sure do find interesting garden sites.

It works well to. I never knew they had a name for this but it is how I do some of my beds... Thank you for the link.

I need help.....I was going to dig up all that awful lawn in my backyard and then put down loom and plant.......but can I just go over the lawn and put down layers and if so what would I put down.. This is getting good.

Marsha...you can put newspapers or cardboard down and then shredded leaves, lawn clippings, compost and mulch and it will smother any lawn you have underneath. You will be able to plant in the fall.
