INTRODUCTION

Last year at this time, if you had asked me about returning to WDW for a second year in a row, I’d have laughed in your face. I would never have imagined that I’d be able to convince DH to agree on returning to Walt Disney World so soon. Yet somehow, I find myself trying to talk him into taking us next year as well. That part remains to be seen.

The important thing is, he did consent and we’ll be on our way in just a few short days!!!! The big difference being, we’re not flying this year. DH never complained about our flight last summer but I’m guessing it obviously wasn’t an experience he’d like to relive which is why we’re driving. Yes…driving. From Ontario, Canada. Twenty-four hours in the car people.

At first I thought it was the cost of the flight for the four of us that bothered him but after checking into it and learning that we could fly from Rochester, NY for almost the same cost as driving, I was still unable to convince him.

I didn’t press the issue because frankly, I was so excited he accepted my idea of returning this summer!!!! :cheer2: :yay: :cheer2:

How do you entertain two teen daughters for 24 hours in a car and prevent them from fighting? :confused3 If you have the answer to that, please share the knowledge.

We will be leaving on August 22, after DH makes a quick appearance at work (enough time to pick up his pay check in other words). I’ve made no advance reservations for hotels on the way down (or back). Who knows where we’ll end up? Probably some truckers stop full of lot lizards. :scared:

We hope to arrive in Cocoa Beach on the evening of the 23rd and stay for one night. Then on the 24th we are going to spend the day at the beach before heading to our resort at WDW where we’ll be staying for nine glorious nights! :woohoo:

I’m now going to give you a quick, shortened version of the cast (if you prefer the longer version, please refer to my PTR):

Blue: That’s me! The DIS-addicted writer of this trip report.

Grumpy: My DH. Smart, sexy, charming, brilliant, special, loving, perfect, sweet, wonderful, darling man (As you can see, I’m laying it on thick here. That’s part of my plan to butter him up for next years trip)

JoJo: DD16 – The chatterbox who you can’t help but love.

Goofy: DD13 – My hot-tempered redhead with a heart of gold.

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w108/hotpwc/WDW2/TR/Pre_trip/aa1f7939.jpg

I see no point in telling you all the wonderful details about the cast because really…it’s not as if I’m going to write anything nasty or something and I don’t want to repeat too much of what has already been written previously.

Like I said, we’re leaving next week and I hope to post a few live installments during our trip this time around. :3dglasses

Stay tuned for the next installment where I will mention some of the special plans I have made for our trip. *cough* Lisa *cough*

Yep, we’re heading back to the World except this time Prince Grumpy has decided that we could save a bundle of money by driving down. For those of you who don’t know me or haven’t read my first trip report, this means a twenty-two hour drive for us because we live in Canada!

When we discussed this with JoJo and Goofy, I was hoping for some back up, hoping to sway them to my way of thinking, but sadly their response was “YESSSSSSSSSSSSS………ROAD TRIP”. Why is it, I’m always outnumbered with those three? They are like the Lepage trio. (For my American friends, Lepage is a Canadian company that makes glue).

JoJo, who is much more enthusiastic about the planning this time around, sent this to me by email today (yes, my 15 year old daughter sends me emails but usually they are tear jerkers – I swear she likes to see me cry):

Do this while driving

Strange and silly things to do while driving. We do not advise doing any of the below "things to do while driving", as all driving should be taken seriously. The below "things to do while driving" are simply here for entertainment purposes.

Vary your vehicle's speed inversely with the speed limit.

Roll down your windows and blast talk radio. Attempt to headbang.

At stop lights, eye the person in the next car suspiciously. With a look of fear, lock your doors.

Two words: Chicken suit.

Write the words "Help me" on your back window in red paint. The more it looks like blood, the better.

Have conversations, looking periodically at the passenger seat, when driving alone.

Laugh a lot. A whole lot.

Stop at the green lights.

Go at the red ones.

Occasionally wave a stuffed animal/troll doll/Barbie out your window or sunroof. Feel free to make it dance.

Eat food that requires silverware.

Pass cars, then drive very slowly.

Sing without having the radio on.

Honk frequently without motivation.

Wave at people often. If they wave back, offer an angry look and an obscene gesture.

Ask people for Grey Poupon.

Let pedestrians know who's boss.

Look behind you frequently, with a very paranoid look.

Restart your car at every stop light.

Hang numerous car-fresheners in the rear-view mirror. Talk to them, stroking them lovingly.

Lob burning things in the windows of smokers who throw their butts out the window.

While stopped at a light, piss out the window/sunroof onto other cars.

Keep at least five cats in the car.

Root (cheer, not snuffle in the mud) for firetrucks.

Stop and collect roadkill.

Throw Spam.

Get in the fast lane and gradually ... slow ... down ... to a stop. Then get out and watch the cars. Throw Spam at them.

If this is an indication of what our road trip is going to be like – I’m in BIG trouble.

Hi Blue, I'm so happy for you that you're going back! When is your trip? I am guessing that you are going during the free dining period. When do your kids start school? Ours start Aug 29 so our trip is Aug 17-24 and we will not get free dining. :sad1: Where are you going to stay? Tell us all your plans!

I believe some introductions are in order.

Blue: Me, the planner of our trip and writer of this report. Since this is our second trip, I am no longer considered a Disney Newbie! I am a mother of three, JoJo, Goofy and Prince Grumpy. I’m a stay-at-home mom who has decided it is time to go back to work and will do so as soon as a job finds me.

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w108/hotpwc/WDW/Day4/c99e1593.jpg

Prince Grumpy: This is my wonderful husband of 18 years who puts up with my Disney obsession and DISboard addiction. He’s a jack-of-all-trades and master of one – plumbing. My man can fix just about anything. He built our garage, built on a 400 square foot addition to our home and changed the engine in my car. We always have a new project on the go and I’m his “little helper”, working right along beside him. He’s a lot like “Tim The Tool Man”. Did I mention he is cheap? I called him Prince Grumpy today and he said “I’m only Prince Grumpy in WDW, now I’m Scrooge McDuck.” He also said “Well, we’re going to start out as family on this trip…….can’t say if that will be the case by the time we return home.”

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w108/hotpwc/WDW/Day4/7f6c14d7.jpg

JoJo: This is my oldest daughter, who will turn 16 before we leave. She has a great love for all animals and tries to save every poor stray she comes across. JoJo has a wonderful imagination and terrific sense of humour. She brings so much joy and laughter to our house. Before our last trip, she wanted nothing to do with a vacation to the World but quickly fell in love with everything Disney once we arrived. I am pleased to say that JoJo plans to participate more with my second trip report.

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w108/hotpwc/WDW/Day4/5415d8e4.jpg

Goofy: This is our 13 year old, the sweet baby of our family. She too has a fondness for nature and keeps me busy running to look at all the strange creatures she brings home. Goofy is known as the fish in our family, she loves the water. She is a member of our local swim team and swims competitively in the intermediate group. Mischief is her middle name but with her loving attitude, it’s hard to get angry with her. She dotes on her older sister, who wants nothing to do with her most of the time.

Woah! Mom, my cast is way better.
Okay guys, this is the real cast.

Mother; also known as BLUE:

Quiet. Unless she gets frustrated, then she gets loud and mad at you. Happy, jumpy, all about Disney! Disney! Disney! Not too crazy about my kitty Oreo, but at least she gives her love. Gets annoyed when people don’t take her side such as Goofy, Prince Grumpy and myself. Uses up our phone line all the time on the DISboards. One day I swear I’ll be calling home from the hospital and get “BEEP, BEEP BEEP”. I’ll have to leave a message “hey uhh mom, I’m sitting here with a broken leg and they won’t let me leave until you come get me. Don’t worry though, take your sweet time on the DISboards, I’ll be alright for another 5 hours.” Ha, Ha. She laughs a lot, at ME. I don’t know why people get such a kick out of me but whatever floats their boat right?
She doesn’t really like the public. I will try to be stealth and say something like “hey Mom! Look at the person with the funny hair” then she’d turn around and say louder than anything, how they can hear me. (umm hello, that’s why I was in stealth mode) but anyways, the funny hair - it turned out it was Prince Grumpy. :P Mom doesn’t get mad too easy but when she does, I swear watch out!!!!

Father; also known as Prince Grumpy:

That suits him. Really, it does. He bugs and bugs and bugs and won’t stop until you get really mad and then he’ll laugh at all the funny faces you’re making when really, it’s those kind of faces saying “ Dad, please just leave me alone.” He always thinks he’s right and half the time he doesn’t have a clue. * Think positive things JoJo * Thinking about him always thinking he’s right reminds me of the time I got a Barbie airplane for Christmas and you had to put window stickers on it with all the Barbie’s looking out. I was ready to do it myself when he took the stickers and insisted he better do it in case I made a mistake. After he was done sure enough something be wrong. The people in the stickers were all facing backwards, and oh boy didn’t that look nice. I’m really like Prince Grumpy though I’m loud. So is he. He doesn’t care what other people think about him and he’s a really fast thinker. Which helps in some situations.

Sister; also known as Goofy:
ha, ha. Goofy. O yea that’s her. A goof. Annoying. She wears my clothes! Bugs me and get this everyone, she thinks that she’s stronger than me. Mhmm. Ha-ha, yea okay there sis. I can beat her down in a heartbeat. Just give me a shoe or something to stop her fists from hitting my face. Gets on my nerves all the time and then asks if she can hang out with me. “Umm durr kid heck no you can’t”. But when she’s not annoying and puts on this “I’m an innocent angel act” she’s okay. Really she’s a fake and evil too. I mean all those things Blue said about Oreo in the first TR, take those and use them towards goofy. J nahh she’s a pretty cool sis, just needs to learn when enough, really is enough.

Me; also known as JoJo:

Wow, what is there to say. I’m great. Wait, that sounds too full of myself. But wait it’s true. I really am great. I love having fun. I’m loud. I like to go out in public wearing the craziest things you could ever imagine but you still wouldn’t be imagining it. I say what I believe in. I speak up for myself. If I don’t like something, you’ll be the first to know. I have my own style and I hate fakes. I love writing, poems, and stories. I have a lot of them. I can be shy, but not like –hide my face in my mother’s shirt shy- just shy. I laugh a lot. At the weirdest things you probably wouldn’t find funny. Such as -nacho cheese- ha, ha. It’s just so funny, or the word, fork. Like what kind of word is that? I can be random. And I mean that. People say I’m amusing. I just have a great personality, what can I do about that? I love animals and being out doors. And just last year, I realized WDW isn’t just for little kids. Oh, and one more thing. I love my kitty Oreo, she means everything to me J

JoJo and Goofy took a few pictures yesterday of the rest of our cast who will not - I repeat - will not be joining us on this trip.

First up is Sterling. He'll be vacationing at Nana & Poppy's while we are away.
He loves it there because that's where his girlfriend Princess lives

This is Oreo (JoJo's D-EVIL cat). She will be staying at home with Mitten and all I can say is, I hope she doesn't eat the poor bunny.

Last, is Mitten (Goofy's pet). She too will be staying at home. Nana & Poppy will be taking care of these two as well.

WOW, What cave have I been in? How did I miss the start of this pre-trip report? :confused3

Oh yeah that’s right I’m still reading the unfinished Trip Report. :lmao:

I am so jealous that you guys are headed back and getting there vie “Road Trip” :car:

Do this while driving

I have done all but five of these things, that’s all I am saying

Can i sing really loud to songs i hardly know and wave to the people in the next car?

JoJo,
Imitating your mother will get you no where :rolleyes1

We always have a new project on the go and I’m his “little helper”, working right along beside him

Jojo, if I were the Tag Fairy, I'd tag you with "I like to go out in public wearing the craziest things you could ever imagine" or "I can be random. And I mean that." Or both!!

How fun--another TR by Blue!!! We're actually taking our girls out of school in Sept (7-15--trying to figure out how to tell their teachers :confused3 ) for a surprise trip. We're going with our neighbors who live across the street. They invited us--I couldn't POSSIBLY say no!!! That would be rude, wouldn't it? Anyways, DH is finally on board (he wasn't so sure at first), especially since he'll get to go to the Night of Joy concerts (he's worship leader at our church). I just got my Disney Visa, so we're going to start using it, so we can earn a little bit of money for our trip! I may start a pre-trip report soon. This trip could prove to be quite interesting (4 jokesters, a 5 yr old, a 6 yr old, a impulsive, moody ADHD 10 yr old, and a 1 yr old!). Looking forward to finishing your last TR and reading this one!!! :cool1:

I took mine out of school in 2005 to go. They were 13 and 14. I had to fill out a paper, the kids took it to school and had to take it around to all the teachers to have signed. Then on that Friday (the day we left) they were supposed to bring home all their homework for the week. WELL, wouldn't you know it, we got a bunch of snow and they had a snow day. I was freaking!

So what do you do when that situation happens?? You say, oh well, nothing we can do about it now and leave at 10:00 a.m. instead of after they get out of school!! Yaaaaaay!

The teachers were pretty good about it when they got back. They were given their homework and a week to do it.

I am taking them out again this year. I think I will ask if they will give them assignments a little earlier. Remind them about the last time!

Wow! Is that river in your back yard? Very nice. My son would be fishing everyday. I'd never see him. Looks like you had a great day!

Thanks. One of the nice things about it is that it keeps the girls hanging around home but it also means all their friends are here most of the summer. We go through lots of food and drink during those months

Here is a list of our ADR's, not in any particular order:

We chose three character dinners since Chef Mickey's was such a hit with the girls.

Ohana breakfast with Lilo and Stitch - Goofy loves Stitch
Crystal Palace - The girls both like Pooh
Garden Grill - Linnie recommend this place and I think it'll be fun

Sci-Fi - This was a request from JoJo

Whispering Canyon - I read a bit about this place and I hope we won't be disappointed

Hoop-Dee-Doo - AGAIN because my gang insisted. I wanted to try Mickey's Backyard BBQ but I was outnumbered on this one :(

That takes care of my free dining plan but I still have 2 dinners left that we will pay out of pocket.

What do you think and any suggestions for the remaining nights?

Good choice JoJo

Whispering Canyon - I read a bit about this place and I hope we won't be disappointed

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed; it’s a lot of fun and a lot of food.
We do the “Skillet” when we go for Breakfast or Dinner.

You guys might enjoy “50’s Prime Time Café” in MGM.
I would rate the food a little above average, but the shenanigans that go on are very entertaining.

This is making me hungry; I have to go toast a bagel

O'Hana breakfast for dinner? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

All GREAT choices. Whispering Canyon is fun. When you check in, ask the hostess to put you with a "FUN" waiter (or waitress). That makes the difference.

I believe Epcot now allows you to bring your pets in with you so the Oreo and Muttens will have a blast riding Test Track. I think Garden Grill also has some pet items on the menu.

Should be a blast for all!! :thumbsup2

We have to use TS credits for it so to me it counts as one of our dinners :headache:

I'm starting a new job today as a dietary server at a retirement home. I haven't worked for almost three years so this should be interesting. :scared:

It's already causing a few minor problems. My taxi driving days are over.

This has been my daily schedule:

7:45 am drive JoJo to school
8:45 am drive Goofy to school
2:15 pm pick JoJo up - drive JoJo to the farm where she rides/works/plays with horses.
3:30 pm pick Goofy up
4:30 pm drive Goofy to swim club
6:00 pm pick both girls up again

The evening could also include driving them into town to visit friends with another pickup to get them back home.

So - you can see where this new job is going to create some problems.

Today, Goofy took her bike and DH will take over taxi duty when he gets home. JoJo had to find a ride from school to the farm and boy was she in a BAD mood this morning trying to get that settled. :headache: On the way to school, she started harassing me about anything and everything. Out of the blue, she said "and you and dad better buy us school bags" There's only a month left

Wish me luck :guilty:

Whee!! I finally made it over here! I've been trying to get here the past few days. However.....

Buzz wanted to buy a barbecue this weekend-believe me when I say-we've had issues with past bbq's so I was not for this at all. But I figured I'd go along with him to the store and keep an eye on him. DD says, "Mom, I have to go to the bathroom" so the kids and I head to the restroom (see I'm back home now so it wasn't me having to go to the bathroom-that's only in WDW). By the time I got back Buzz bought the biggest, most obnoxious, behemoth barbecue they had in the store.

Lucky for him, they assembled it, then delievered it to us b/c I've put enough of those things together in the past and was not looking forward to this! So now he's got me going through books and online looking for recipes to actually use this humungous thing.

Anyone recommend a good barbecue sauce? Our favorite it Cookies, but you have to order it online a case at a time.

I'm so excited you get to go back to WDW!! And congrats onthe job! You'll do great! I'd like to go back to work too-I'm in much need of adult conversation! Buzz is back from the store now and harping at me to get the grub put away and get to work cooking. I'll be back-I can't wait to see this trip unfold!!!

And I LOVED the pictures of the pets!! Toooooo cute! makes me want to get one!

The girls would love the atmosphere and all the pictures and other memorabilia they have everywhere. And don't forget to use the bathroom there--pretty cool! There's even a bathroom attendant who hands you a towel to dry your hands with! There's usually a wait to get in--put your name on the list, then walk around Downtown Disney a while. When we booked through our TA, we got a voucher for a free dinner for one person.

It’s time for an update!!!

With summer fast approaching, the four of us have been keeping very busy.

Goofy has a little over a week left at the swim club and we went to her last swim meet a few weekends ago. She placed well in all her heats and is 3 seconds away from competing in the Regionals. She will be joining the senior team in September. :cheer2:

JoJo’s been spending most of her spare time at the farm, working with the horses and going to competitions with her friend. She also started Drivers Ed – heaven help us! Stay off the roads people!!!! :scared:

Grumpy has been busy working on our vehicle, making sure it’s safe for our road trip to WDW. He bought four new tires last week and still has to have them installed. He’s been driving me crazy about the tires – keeps calling me into the garage saying, “Come see our new tires”. What the heck?? :rolleyes1 They’re just tires honey – get a life. :rotfl2: I don’t see the big thrill about them. Guess it’s a guy thing. :confused3 I hate spending money on stuff like that; it seems like such a waste, like I’m getting nothing for it. :headache:

He also changed the front shocks himself and wants to replace the back ones next. We will be replacing our cracked windshield (it’s been that way for over 3 years – it happened two weeks after we bought our Explorer). It started out as a tiny crack but now is right across and another one top to bottom.

One evening, Prince Grumpy - all excited - called me out to the garage again for what he described as a surprise. He installed a CB radio and explained how we could talk to the truckers on our way down. How romantic – just love those kind of surprises. :sad2:

Myself, I’ve been shopping!!! :dance3: Some of you might say, what else is new? – Not mentioning any names here.

I bought some crocs for the girls and myself:

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w108/hotpwc/WDW2/Pre-trip/8a2768d6.jpg

Okay…so they’re fakes but they’ll do. I only plan on using mine in the water parks anyhow.

I also went to the Disney Store and purchased four matching POTC 3 shirts for our trip:

Those look like real Crocs to me. What the difference? Lin got me a pair of black ones with a skull & crossbones pin on them. I'm cool now. :smokin:

I started planning my meals for October. The only problem I'm running into is finding restaurants that I've never been to before. :sad2:

We purcahse the DDE Card every year which gives us 20% off food and drink (booze included). It's a heck of a deal for us.

Four brand spanking new P215/70R-15 W, they provide excellent wet/dry traction, a smooth quiet ride, and long, even tread wear with a 40,000 mile warranty, Yeah that is what I said 40,000 miles.

Man I’m having heart palpations just writing this. Oh and the hottest thing is I got full Road Hazard coverage.

Check out the side wall this baby has

Hey! Good to hear from you. I was thinking the other day that you haven't posted in a while.

We checked into flying instead of driving, but it is even more expensive. So we are back to driving.

Hey back at ya!! http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Others/others-078.gif

Flying is definately more expensive for us, unless we catch a flight from the U.S. side with a seat sale.

I'm starting to warm up to the idea of driving now - it may not be so bad - I hope! :guilty:

It's about time.

In the words of another great Diser...
Where are your priorities?

Why, Blue of course! http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Others/others-232.gif

It's probably safer behind the desk anyway...

You don't know the half of it :rolleyes1

Those look like real Crocs to me. What the difference? Lin got me a pair of black ones with a skull & crossbones pin on them. I'm cool now.

The name? :confused3

I thought you were already cool? http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Cool/cool10.gif

I started planning my meals for October. The only problem I'm running into is finding restaurants that I've never been to before.

We purcahse the DDE Card every year which gives us 20% off food and drink (booze included). It's a heck of a deal for us.

Which ones have you chosen so far?

We're on the free dining - much better deal, you Rookie you http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Laughing/lol-028.gif

These are the babies I just got for the Manly Mini-Van I drive.

Ohhh. Nice tires blue. Tires = Good.

No free food in October blue. Plus, no crowds PLUS Food & Wine Festival!! :woohoo: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

Here's the list so far & we've never dined at any of them:

Yachtsman Steak House
Artists Point
Narcoosees
Chefs De France

That free dining will save you a TON of money. Each one of our dinners runs about $100 AFTER the 20% discount then we give the 20% back in the form of a tip. Do you tip with Free Dining??? How often do you get to eat?? Can you eat at the KFC and get a free "Big Box"???

*Whistling at your choices* 3 Signature Dinners!!!!! :cheer2:

The free dining plan includes a snack, a counter service (CS) meal and a table service meal (TS) daily for each person. There are a few restaurants that require you to use 2 table service meal credits. When we went, Hoop Dee Doo and CRT both required 2 TS credits each. Three of your above choices would require using 2 TS credits.

Basically what we did was buy our breakfast, use a CS credit for lunch and TS credit for dinner. We could have used a CS credit for breakfast but we're not big morning eaters and that would have been a waste. As you recall, we had about 17 snack credits left on our last day and I let the girls use those to get treats for their friends back home.

We found it to be a LOT of food and seemed like we were always eating. Oh and an 18% tip is already included in the dining plan so you are not required to leave a tip, however, we did leave tips for our dinners because of the great service.

I totally forgot to mention in my first trip report how much our meals would have cost us had we not been on the free dining plan http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Confused/redface-oops-6.gif

I kept all the receipts from our 7 day plan and the grand total was $1300.00 and that doesn't even include the cost of the free snacks!!!!!

So yes, as you said, the free dining saved us a TON of money :dance3: The only stipulation is that you must go during hurricane season Aug.26 - Sept. 22.

We put aside $1500 for the 12 days we're down there. We have dinner somewhere nice every night, maybe one character lunch, and the rest are counter service. We don't do breakfast either but usually grab a b-fast bar and diet soda on our way out the door.

We're big "snackers" so we enjoy small snacks thru the day and then a nice dinner to cap it off.

It's crazy how much we spend on food. The DDE card bascially means FREE tips :headache: but once in a while we'll get poor service and are able to save some money.

She is 18, she had no desire to drive until lately, so we never pushed it.
Since she was 18 she didn't have to take the classroom part before getting her permit. We did make her take some professional lesson after she got her permit, I though that would be better then me trying to teach her from the begining.

Once again, due to your inactivity, I've decided to help you with your "Pre-Trip" report. Here we go:

Well, Grumpy decided that the new tires were not enough to ensure our safety so he purchased a brand new Ford Excursion (built in Canada mind you) with big old bull horns mounted on the front grill, those off-road lights mounted on the luggage rack, and blinged-out 20" chrome wheels. I hung the fuzzy dice on the rear view mirror and we were all set.

We decided we could not possibly leave our pets Mutten the bunny, Oreo the Cat, Sterling the Dog, and Victor the Platypus at home or with neighbors so they're going along. I found the "Extended Family & Pets" program Disney offers and purchased the four animals their park passes and dining coupons. All set!

Our new sandals we purchased, “Krooks”, actually started to disintegrate due to being made out of licorice so we fed them to the dog and platypus and I went to work making our own shoes from the new tires that Grumpy had purchased. Since Grumpy spent all of our money on the new Ford and Mickey took the rest, we’re forced to use our Canadian primal instincts for basic survival needs. Luckily, we can still ice-fish for food until the end of July.

I also decided that since we're Canadian (and back woods folk) that we'd cancel our hotel reservations and live under the bridge at Epcot between France & United Kingdom. We thought about hiding in the bushes near the Canadian pavilion when they close the park but since we see Canada every day that would just be stupid.

We’ve got 14 Priority Seating arrangements all set for Le Cellier so I think we’re ready to go. Wish us luck!

I’ll keep going if you’re going to ignore us Blue.

Hey!!! I've been busy :rolleyes1

I'll have you know the tires are installed and the windshield is fixed. There is a slight problem with the CB now. I had to park in an underground parking garage last week while at the doctors and about every two feet, the danged CB antenna kept hitting the cement blocks on the roof making an awful LOUD "twanging" noise. :sad2:

I could have died of embarrassment as all the people getting in/out of their cars were staring at me while trying to find an empty spot. Just my luck, this went on for five levels and near the end of the fourth level, the antenna broke off the mount. My first thought was that of relief until I realized that DH would not be a happy camper with me for not stopping to remove it in the first place. But you know what those places are like, there were about 10 cars behind me and there was no way I was going to stop in the middle of the garage and try to figure out how to remove the danged antenna.

We have the Ford Explorer (sport model) so there are only two seats in the back and the girls have been begging us to take MIL's car for the trip because it's more comfortable. I have to agree with them but since the car is older, I have this awful fear of breaking down in the middle of nowhere on American soil

Actually, I'm even worried about that with our own vehicle so I've decided to purchase CAA just in case. Plus, by doing so, I'll be able to get a nice trip tik :yay:

We decided we could not possibly leave our pets Mutten the bunny, Oreo the Cat, Sterling the Dog, and Victor the Platypus at home or with neighbors so they're going along. NO WAY - I'm looking forward to not having to take care of animals for two weeks :cool1:

:rotfl: I bought Grumpy a pair of crocs last week and when I brought them home he looked at me like I was on drugs or something. Now he's wearing all the time but when I asked him if he was going to wear them at WDW, he said "No way".

Le Cellier is not on my list of ADR's but I've been thinking I may change one of my ressie's for that one. I hear the food is fabulous! Good old Canadian Beef ;)

Did you know they have a new attraction in Magic Kingdom? I read about it in the Unofficial Guide. It's called The Laugh Floor Comedy Club. Mike and Sully from Monsters apparently do a stand-up comedy routine which is supposed to be something like Turtle Talk with Crush but on a bigger scale.

I'm also looking forward to the Seas with Nemo and Friends. The book says something about riding in a clam-mobile on a journey through the aquarium. The characters from Nemo are swimming with live fish.

There is also the musical "Finding Nemo" at Animal Kingdom which replaced Tarzan Rocks, which by the way we missed last year. :sad2:

Just wondering if anyone has seen these yet?

The Seas w/ Nemo & Friends replaced the "Living Seas" at Epcot. The clam-mobile is cool. On our last trip I reported that this was one of the many rides broken at Epcot that day. It was still fun riding in the clam-mobile even though nothing else worked. It was the similar thrill one might experience while driving to work.

During my interview to be an Imagineer for Disney, I suggested that what they really needed was an interactive attraction where one could slay an unknown beast, like Goofy, with a pickaxe then sever his head as a souvenir. Sadly, both my idea and I were rejected so I turned to selling water pumps instead.

I’m looking forward to the new musical Nemo’s Sonata, as we’ve never liked Tarzan Rocks. We absolutely adored the Jungle Book musical that preceded TR. That Jungle Book music reminds me of when I was a kid.

I think what I look forward to most is the anticipated change to Soarin’. Imagineers copied Disneyland’s Soarin’ and used the California theme as they didn’t have to reproduce an entire movie and could save time getting the ride up and running. The new ride entitled Bush’s Debacle, should be implemented by late 2007 and has you flying over Baghdad in a helicopter with the sights and smells of napalm, IED’s, gunpowder and ruined ancient temples. I hear Michael Moore produced it.

You may change your mind by the time you leave because he'll have had lots of time to practise.

I don't think so. He went to take his very last (or we thought) before he can get his license. He Failed!!

He was so upset, rage-tears!

I asked him what he did. He said he stopped at a stopsign (good!) He then proceeded as the car coming was way down the road. The instructor freaked out, made him stop and scolded him. So the rest of the drive he was really nervous.

Poor kid! But, I am only getting one side of the story. His dad took him and we don't speak so I really don't know.

Do you suppose I should let him drive once in a while?? Maybe get some practice? I mean he has driven the lawn mower, shouldn't that count as some sort of training. 4 tires, steering wheel, brakes?? Sounds like a car to me!!

Oh and to top it off, it was $45 to take this test. Now it's $30 each time until he passes. This is totally not helping the Disney fund!

I've got a whole theory when it comes to teenagers and driving. It goes like this: They Shouldn't.

All you have to do is talk to my parents who will inform you what it was like to be my parents when I was a teenager and driving. Apparently, these were ugly times for them. I really don't remember it being that bad as I spent most of my time at parties & keggers so wasn't home too often. I think the time I lost my car is when most of their fears were realized. After that, they always complained every time they had to pick me up at the police station. :confused3

Speaking of losing cars, I lost my rental car in Vegas one time. I just couldn't remember where it was parked. At the end of the trip I took a cab to the airport and told the Hertz employee I was pretty sure the car was on the Strip somewhere. She just looked at me all gape jawed and wide eyed. Not sure what her problem was. :smokin:

Anyway, long stories short: If I ask to borrow your car, please, tell me no. ::yes::

Apparently, it was at the Luxor. What ended up happening is that they were going to continue charging me by the day until the car was found (and they were not going to look for it). Security at the hotels keep an eye on cars that don't move so they found the car a week later, called Hertz who picked it up, and I had to pay $350 more for the extra week, the pick up, and gas.

The girls have been gearing up for more pin trading this year. They plan on purchasing another starter set to use for trades and keep the ones they already have.

I can't tell you how much fun they had trading with CM's. The employees can not turn a guest down in a request to trade a pin, and the employees often have pins that are not sold in any store. FYI - there is a rule that CM's wearing yellow lanyards only trade to kids 12 and under.

I think Goofy traded her set a few times over :lmao:

This past Christmas I wanted to order some special pins for the girls from Disney's Shopping site and was disappointed to find out that they will not ship pins to Canada :confused3

Instead I ordered two pins for each of them from an online dealer. It was much more expensive and I later found out this year that I could have ordered a big "trading" bunch from ebay at much lower price.

This is JoJo's collection:

Not at all. I lost the car on the first night so I searched high and low for it. It wasn't until after they found it that I even remembered going to the Luxor at all. We were staying at the Mirage.

The girls collection looks great but your's needs work. :sad2:

I like the Stitch pin that JoJo has. Stitch is a hoot. He was at the opening of MK one morning and was tossing park maps all over the ground and his handler was scolding him "...Stitch, knock that off! Stitch, be good. Stitch, can't you behave?" It was a hoot.

You can get pins for your Krooks also. They plug into the little holes on the front part of the sandal. We've all got Disney characters on our Crocs and Lin got me a Skull & Crossbones which is my favorite.

My brother found an Epcot pin one time when we were down together and he put it in his pocket. Later that night, at Pleasure Island, he ran out of money and I wouldn't loan him any so he ended up trading the pin for a beer. The people he made the trade with took a bunch of pictures & emailed us and we still keep in touch with them.

Gotta love Disney. :)

Blue,

My DD(11), Tricia, just happened to be showing me all her pins earlier. (We aren't even going until November and she's already trying to decide which pins she wants to trade!)

She held up a cute Mickey & Minnie pin and I said that I liked it. She was just about to give it to me when she paused, thought about it for a second, and then said, "What will you trade for it?"

"Trade?? But, I'm your mother!" I said, surprised.

"Yeah, and you've got some good pins," she said, eyeing the box where I keep them. :lmao:

I'm just picky about the types I want and I'm not going to buy them just to have them. Being the sentimental type that I am, each one of mine will have a special meaning or represent something about us or our trip.

How can a pin be "fake" ?? :confused3 Is it made of cotton and disintegrates over time? I don't get it.

I was in Mexico a few years ago and purchased a "fake" Movado watch and gave it to my brother. He was wearing it a nightclub one time and met a girl who took interest in his watch. When she looked close, she said out loud "...I've never heard of a Novado watch". LOL :rotfl2: Busted!!!! :sad2:

it is said that they look alot like the Disney ones~

The problem, IMHO, is if you get fakes the CMs won't trade for a fake if they spot one and you risk the kids being disappointed :confused3

I don’t know about Old Wise one but I will give it a shot.

Disney (or anyone else, Olympics, Hard Rock etc.) will release a pin that becomes very popular, so some unscrupulous’ people will have the pin reproduced and pass it off as the original. This can be very profitable on place like E-bay. . The “Original” might have sold for $10-$12, and I have seen some pins go for as much as $200-$250 on E-bay

They can be to as “Scrappers or Bootleg" and the inferior quality is very evident when examined closely.

And as it was mentioned if you get some of these and try to trade with a Cast Member you can end up being very disappointed. You are usually safe in trading for any of the pins off a Cast Member’s lanyard as they try and keep up with what Scrappers are currently being passed around.

Hopefully that helps some and this concludes today’s class.

Buzz, as am sure you are used to you can stay after class and clean the erasers.

Do you know if the CM pins are worth more? I would imagine so.

Your collection is awesome! I like the Mickey Head Halloween one, thanks for sharing :thumbsup2

Is that a Canadian Moosehead beer in the picture???

I don’t know about Old Wise one but I will give it a shot.

You're so modest Goofster, thanks for sharing the knowledge http://bestsmileys.com/school/5.gif

I am a very big Harry Potter geek! I can't ait for the new book and the movie, I even got DH reading them( and sometimes listening to the audio books too). I would NOT last, I plan to shut out the universe once I get it and read till i drop and then read it some more! LOL! Any thoughts on the Potter theme park they are opening in Orlando?

I can't get DH to read them, or read any book for that matter unless it has something to do with cars :sad2: He does like the HP movies though :yay:

I probably won't last either and it will be hard not to read or hear spoilers.

The theme park is going to be awesome!!!! I can't wait to go :cheer2: :woohoo:

Did you know that John Irving and Stephen King were so worried about the fictional hero's fate that they urged Rowling to spare the bespectacled hero?

Our town is having a HP Midnight Madness evening on July 20th. Looks like it's going to be fun. I'm going but not dressing up.

Just got caught up. Gosh, Blue, maybe you're the chatty one around here!

Depends on the topic :teeth:

Good ADR choices but where's the Chef Mickey's?

Too many other choices we want to check out!

You HAVE to go see Finding Nemo the Musical. I LOVE it!! It's so cute! I can't believe we're just going to miss each other.

Definately will see the Nemo musical :thumbsup2

I'm so bummed that you'll be leaving when we arrive :sad1:

Yes, I am absolutely sure that they are worth more being a much more limited distribution than the stuff at the pin carts.

Thank you, that one was actually a gift from my Disney enabler friend Rose~

Since my post about ebay, I received some advice from a wise DISer who warned me that they may be fakes. Guess this pin trading business is serious stuff ;)

Whew! I'm actually a bit relieved. I don't have an ebay account and I don't want to get hooked into THAT!!

My DISboards addiction is quite enough!

I don't trade my pins, either. But I love to wear my lanyard in the parks. Only problem is, it weighs about two pounds!! I also wear them on my jacket and my backpack (with security backs).

At home, I wear them on my scrubs. I wear a Nurse Minnie and a pin for whatever holiday is coming up next.

A little tiny bit of Disney pixiedust: every working day!!

There are usually pins to be found in the Outlet "department" of DisneyShopping.com. I think these would be much safer than shopping on ebay.....

We were out on the boat on the weekend and I brought my Unofficial Guide to WDW and DH brought his auto-trader. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Transports/captain-024.gif This has been our routine. We don’t go out far, just far enough down river so that we can’t see neighbours or any other houses. We anchored in our usual spot between two islands, turned the motor off and the radio on. It's either listen to music or the loud croaking of the bullfrogs in the evening. http://bestsmileys.com/animals/5.gif

This particular day, I brought along my WDW Calendar I made with our plans on it. It has all the important stuff like confirmation numbers for ADR’s, when and where we will use CS & TS credits and EMH. It’s probably the 6th copy I’ve made because I’m always changing things around or adding something new. This is a copy of my first draft:

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w108/hotpwc/WDW2/Pre-trip/aa10127c.jpg

I interrupted DH from his reading (if you can call browsing through a car/truck trader magazine reading) and said ever so sweetly http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Love/hello-065.gif (because Mama always told me you get more bees with honey)

Me: Do you want to see our Disney plans?
DH looks up from his book, sighs loudly and – really dragging out the s in guess

DH: I guesssssssssssssss so.
Me: Why are you reading that anyway? You just bought an old car?
DH: Yes but now I need parts for the car.
Me: MmmmHmmm

Side note: This car restoration thing DH is fixated on is also taking away from my DISboard time because he’s always online now looking for parts.

http://bestsmileys.com/cars/14.gif

He asked me if we could take a side trip on our way to WDW to Jegs so he could check out tunnel rams – whatever they are??? I told him if he was taking me to the world, we could stop anywhere he wishes along the way. I also asked him since he mentioned making stops if we could stop at a few clothing outlets as well. Gotta get my shopping in!!!

Me: Let’s go over our ADR’s again because I think I’d like to change our Sci-Fi dinner for something else.
DH: Haven’t you already changed our ADR’s?
Me: Not since I’ve confirmed them.
DH: What do you have in mind?
Me: I’m thinking I’d like to try the Spirit of Aloha dinner show.
DH: Another dinner show? Is that like Hoop-Dee-Doo with the free beer?
Me: Yes, same idea but different atmosphere

DH gets his Homer Simpson look

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w108/hotpwc/WDW2/Pre-trip/c32355ac.gif

DH: Free beer??? Woohoo! Sounds good to me.

Yesterday I called to change my Monday Sci-Fi reservation for the dinner show and was surprised to learn they don’t offer this on Sunday or Monday. Then I tried for Tuesday and nothing was available. I tried for Wednesday, same thing. I went through the entire week with the CM with no luck. It’s all booked.

Now I’m making a 7th draft of my calendar because I messed up the last one writing in the new plans that will never be. :(

It’s a good thing I made my ADR’s when I did. What a disappointment it would be if we couldn’t get into some of the restaurants we had our hearts set on.

If the choice is Moosehead or Budwiser I'll pick the Moose~

Corona is our vacation beverage of choice-gotta have the lime~

Hubby likes wine, I normally do not. I've had Port Wine, I like that, it tastes more like Brandy...his vacation wine is called Hatteras Red.

We are mild beer snobs, I can blame the brewery tours for that one...I am always up for trying out a new microbrewery. Disneyland's microbrewery has my new favorite "Red Trolley."

I am happy to see you keeping a calendar like that ...

I'm finally all caught up! Life gets crazy around here once swim team starts. Blue, I'll be interested to see how the drive goes. DH and I decided to fly after all. The straw that broke the camel's back was when we drove up to Pittsburgh a few weeks ago (a 4 hr trip). Ten minutes into the drive, DD's 5 and 9 were fighting and wanting to know how much longer it was going to be  We had visions of us pushing our daughters around WDW in a double stroller and people asking us why we were pushing dead children around--"well, we promised to bring them to Disneyworld, but DH killed them on the way b/c they were driving him crazy!!!" We love our girls and would like them to live through the trip, therefore, we're flying. Got tiks on Allegiant flying into Sanford for $573. We're able to fly and stay for 2 more nights for the same price it would have cost us to fly Delta into MCO :confused3 No complaints here--WDW for 9 1/2 days!!!:cool1:

Tigger, our vacation beverage used to be Corona also. :cool1:

We've progressed on to wine, then margarita's, and finally to shots of pure grain alcohol or mouthwash. :sad2:

Ok blue, since you know I’m the A-Typical male and only read things “selectively”, you’ll have to tell me whatever happened to your plan of driving part way and flying the rest. I missed that change along our journeys together.

Your calendar also reminded me of WDW. I put the park we’re going to each day along with the time of each and every Priority Seating arrangement and also the confirmation number. Since we usually switch hotels, I put the hotel information for both on there as well.

The sad part about my calendar is that it also includes what time we need to wake up and then an “out the door” time in order to make the daily “rope-drop”. It’s important to me that we make the rope-drop each and every day. Linnie has issues with this.

I do my calendar on my Palm so I have it at my fingertips at all times via my cell phone. I also have a printed copy that I put on the fridge in our room with my Stitch magnet.

Do you guys have any crazy & unusual rituals you do at WDW? We have a few:

• We purchase a vase w/ flowers to brighten up our room
• We bring packets of dish washing detergent even though we shop the first day we arrive
• Loud Girl gets to pick the rental car
• I fall off the dance floor at 8-Trax
• Beer & Brats at Sommerfest in the German Pavilion. We always eat these on the picnic benches out by the lagoon

I start my Priority Seating arrangements next week which means I’m under the 100 day mark!! Wooo HOOO!!

This is a bloody caesar. It's a very popular Canadian drink made with vodka, motts clamato juice, dash of worcestershire sauce, dash of tabasco sauce and rim the glass with celery salt.

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, it's been awhile. Great to see you back :)

:rotfl2: about your 4 hour trip with your DD's. (Sorry) I remember trips like that and the closer we get to the date, the more worried I become.

DH and I think they'll be fine on the way down because they'll be happy and excited...it's the drive back that concerns us. JoJo has her cell phone this year and has updated it with MSN. That should keep her busy for hours. :rotfl:

Woohoo to you on the flight :thumbsup2 and the extra 2 nights in WDW - that alone was worth it :cheer2:

Does it, perchance, have anything to do with.....

(Previously posted elsewhere by MDF)

I remember purchasing a big block of cheese on Gay Day. What we did was leave Disneyland and walk across to Cal Adventure which wasn't having Gay Day until the next day.

At the vineyard, they had a cheese vendor there with a bunch of Amish people (I think they were real, not in costume) selling homemade cheese.

Well, you can see what's coming.

I couldn't help myself so I purchase a big 6 pound block of cheese, whittled a little off it while I sipped my wine, then tossed it into the bottom of the stroller where it sat all day in the 80 degree weather.

When we returned to our hotel that late afternoon, I put the cheese in the fridge but later broke it out again and downed about a pound or so. The next morning I was so sick but still I had a little more with breakfast.

By lunch I was a mess of a man and Lin threatened to toss the cheese out. I took the family swimming in the pool and claimed to be doing laundry while they swam but I snuck back and ate a bunch more of the delicious cheese block. By this time it was down to 25% and I was bound and determined to get the rest of it down. It wasn't tasting very good anymore and had started to discolor.

Linnie finally had enough and tossed what was left of the cheese block in a dumpster outside while I was showering one evening. Later that evening when I went to sample my delicious snack I was horrified to find that it had been disposed of. It took a week for my system to recover and the drive home to Montana from California was miserable for everyone riding in the automobile. We ended up selling the SUV when we got home.

We call that the "Cheese Story".

(End quote.)

*I thought the "Cheese Story" was too funny to stay on the West Coast only!

The funny thing is though, I thought by having an American account, I would be able to withdraw money from it while we were in the U.S.

This is not the case. It's only a way of saving money and having it converted to American dollars. I was told that I would need to withdraw the money before leaving. Doesn't make sense to me. Oh well, it's still a great way to save and convert our money while the exchange rate is high :woohoo:

Since this was DH's idea, it also means that I have him hooked on WDW because he mentioned how we could deposit savings into that account over the next year.

I was recently invited to watch a video of a wedding. I was unable to attend the wedding since it would have cost me $59 for a computer game plus an online subscription of $15/month.

As I watched the video I began to drift and think about what was going on before my eyes. My brother, a level 70 Undead Mage, was marrying a dark elf with a big battle-axe "inside" an entire world that exists only in cyber-space.

It's a game titled "World of WarCraft" and he plays it non-stop. He leads an entire Guild (with about 100 members) and met his new bride while trying to slay a large snow creature in Winterspring (an area in the game).

Apparently they've been on many dates (in the cyber-world... they've never actually met in person and as I told him, his new bride could actually be a guy playing a female character) as the courtship has lasted four months. They are now honeymooning in Orgrimmar and hope to purchase their first home together after they've slayed enough Werebears and sold their precious hides.

My brother desperately needs a trip in the "real" world and WDW would be perfect to snap him back to reality. The only problem is that the last time we went together, he was pretty well liquored up most of the time (to the point of passing out 3 times within a 24 hour period) and is kind of embarrassing to travel with out in public.

Being upgraded to concierge seemed like a great idea upon check-in but all that free wine & beer was more than his system could handle. One morning, he had large glass of red wine to get rid of his headache instead of taking two aspirin I offered. :confused3

The trip wasn't bad but I missed my family. I feel so much more comfortable with them in WDW than without 'em.

Oh, and operation cheese foot is the painful process I go through to trim my toe nails and clean my feet so I can wear sandals in the summer. :) It's an obsession.

the lizard..yeah..the lizard.. haha we'll see what happens with that.
mother will be like :scared1: "WHERE DID THAT COME FROM"
"LET IT OUT RIGHT NOW"
just like in the hotel room.
she didn't want it in the hotel room..
i guess it was too scary for her. you know being sooooo big and all.
ahhaa. poor mother. i don't think she even liked the snail we had brought in. is was even in a cup!
and they're slow don't forget.

If it’s a lizard you’re after, you might as well go for the big one and bring home an adolescent alligator. They’re only 6 or 7 feet long and look really cute with Mickey Ears on. :rolleyes1

Besides, they’re favorite food is Oreo. I mean Oreo’s. :rotfl2:

Hey there Blue, Jojo, and Goofy!

I'm really enjoying your pre-trip report. Your car ride down to Floride sounds like it is going to be a blast what with the lizards and snails and the smuggled pets.

I just got back from the world and saw one of your lizard friends and it made me think of your last trip report.

Keep the good stuff coming!

are you ready to see those lizards..i am
i think we should try and get another big snail.
:thumbsup2
yup,sweet deal eh'.

:) o ya those snails are pretty big but the lizards are neater:) we should bring a little fish bowl to put the snail in. And keep it as a pet until we go home or try to get like 5 and let them go here haha. We should get more then one lizard because then we both have one and were not fighting over one little lizard i mean we have better things fight about.

I can wait tell we go to the water park it was so fun :cheer2: and i have more money this time so i am goig to buy way more stuff maybe some clothes(but it is expensive). Also mom cant wait tell we go on all those scary rides :scared1: too bad jojo and dad are to chicken :rotfl2:

You should definitely go on the Rock n' Roller Coaster. It is so much fun and going upside down is not bad at all. You will have a blast. Don't skip it or you will probably regret it later it is the best thrill ride at disney in my opinion. Word of advice, don't wear a skirt if you plan on riding Tot. I made that mistake and I had to hold it down the entire ride or else it would have flown up and would probably have been captured on film by the ride camera and that is not a picture I wanted displayed for everybody getting off the ride:rotfl:

The trip wasn't bad but I missed my family. I feel so much more comfortable with them in WDW than without 'em.

Oh, and operation cheese foot is the painful process I go through to trim my toe nails and clean my feet so I can wear sandals in the summer. :) It's an obsession.

Uh, I have MAJOR issues with this post.

First, if MDF feels so much more comfortable with his family in WDW, then why does he continue to sneak in these trips withOUT us???? Leaving us behind seems to be another one of his obsessions. Just ask him how many times he's been down there without us and how about the time I was 8 mos. pregnant. The divorce papers were all but signed that year.

And secondly, I take issue with his toe nail thing-it is NOT an obsession. At least I got him to do this annual task outdoors instead of on the kitchen floor. :sad2: Watching those nails flying in all directions was horrid. :scared1:

Definitely go on TOT Dory! It's really fun. I get a little nervous just b/c I don't like falling, but my kids love it and they're 5 and 7. It's very cool. And don't miss RNR Coaster!! It's one of my favorites. It's in the dark so it isn't scary at all. It's just really fast, which is actually a huge rush and lots of fun!

This is a hand held one that you can use to swat the bugs. There is a button on the handle that you push to create the electricity to "ZAP" em so I figured as long as the button wasn't pushed there would be no current going through the wires.

I WAS VERY MISTAKEN

At the very same moment that I went to touch the wires, DH shouted "Don't Do It" but it was too late.

Yes I will have to hold down the fort. Make sure that the country runs smoothly while we are down in numbers. What with those two Canadian families in Disney World America might decide to incorporate us into the country while we are weak in numbers. I'll just have to be strong.
