Heidi, I think it is simply called the 1000 islands border crossing. It is not in any particular town. I guess if it was associated with any town it would probably be Alexandria Bay on the NY side.

yep totally boring drive to whitefish and to horwood lake. All through the mountains and that are two lanes only and you think you are either a) get hit by a huge rock (and by the way are they always blasting rock there???) 2) hit by a huge semi going around a sharp corner and going to hit you 3) run into a black bear or a moose??? Hey have you been lucky enough to see any bears or moose on the way?
Sometimes...but most of the time I am sleeping or reading or something...I get bored to easily. We see them sometimes around our cabin. One summer there was a baby black bear (our cabin is on a small island but not far away from mainland) and the baby had to swim to get there. my aunt notices it and goes to get her camera to follow it around. My mom was like "uh...there has to be a mama bear around here somewhere!!" We never did see the mama bear and we were far enough away from the baby that it didn;t bother her. There are always a lot of black bears where we go to the dump to take our trash! I still have not seen a moose!

Last stop - Canada!!!!
On each visit we've taken to Epcot, by the time we reach Canada we're wiped! As much as I wanted to see the show, I was more interested in picking out a Canadian Christmas ornament from the store and getting back to the resort for a much needed nappy!
After choosing my tree decoration which was Mickey, Minnie & Goofy on a sled dressed in red checkered shirts, the girls headed to get their last stamp for the passports. I tucked it inside my bag with the Mickey head car emblem I purchased at Test Track! I was a big spender that day
I'm not sure what JoJo & Goofy were expecting but they were a tiny bit disappointed when they received a coloured picture of the Disney gang for having completed the entire booklet. :confused3
By this time - with sore feet and aching backs we practically dragged out butts to the entrance of the park and welcomed the short rest we would have on the bus ride back to POR.

I love all the photos with Pooh and the gang!! Your girls looks so happy to see them!
I think it's so cute that the girls still get excited over the characters given their ages :goodvibes
A raccoon encounter?!? I can't wait!!! I'd love to see a raccoon!!
It scared the bejeebies out of us!!!
Another update!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Tigger is MY favorite! :thumbsup2
Stitch is mine!!! :stitch:
He's such a lil' devil and reminds me a bit of myself
I love the picture of the exit sign. :rotfl:
While going through my pics I found it strange that DH took one of that!
Great pics from WS! Hopefully, we can spend more time in WS than we have in the past, now that the girls are a bit older (they'll be 12 and 8 :scared1:).
Definately get the passports....that way you'll be sure to visit each country ;)
A raccoon encounter  I wonder if the girls had as much fun with the raccoon as they do with lizards :rolleyes1

thank you. I no longer wear floral shirts. When you get to be a certain size, repeat patterns no longer become flattering. I stopped wearing shirts like that many years ago.

It wasn't even a sticker Kat - just a picture of the gang on white paper! I'll see if I can scan it tomorrow. Just the same, I'd still recommend doing it for the kids....the stamps & signatures in the booklets are worth it. In China, the CM wrote the girls names in Chinese and other CM's would sometimes make cute comments.

His registered kennel name is: Cornerstones Blue River
and his pet name is Elvis :goodvibes
I wanted to call him Cap'n Jack but since I chose the name Pixie for our new puppy last year, I let them decide this time.
Elvis has settled in nicely and gets along fabulously with Pixie - much better than I had expected!!! :yay:

His potty training has been a bit of a struggle and because we switched food brands Pixie has been having some .... UGH .... issues as well :sad2:

I think you've been back a couple of months,
sorry.
I think Epcot has a pretty lame opening too.
Hardly anyone can see anything, and most just
want to make a mad dash to Soarin or Test Track.
We should have been like you and went to Character Connections.
That is the slowest line in Epcot.

We arrived back at POR around 3:45 and I took a little nappy before dinner while DH & the girls watched some TV. That's one thing I need each afternoon after being in the park all morning. The only time I miss out on my nap is when we go to AK because we're able to get through it by closing time.
My gang woke me up at 5:30 because they said they were starving which is hardly the case at all because if you're familiar with free dining, you're never hungry. There's always plenty of food and most of the time we can't even finish dessert.
I think they were just getting restless and wanted to go do something ... so off we went to the food court. DH, JoJo & I each chose the pasta but Goofy wanted the burger meal.

The location of our building - OH so far away from everything :guilty:
A short time later we headed back to our room and I figured it would be a good time to tidy it up a bit. It was starting to look like a pig pen and I wanted to get a few things packed up ahead of time so it wouldn't be a mad rush on the last day. What do you think the others were doing while I cleaned? The same thing they do at home....watched TV and kept telling me I was blocking their view :sad2:
Around 9:00 p.m. we decided to head to the pool for a nice evening swim. The water temp was perfect and it was a great way to cool off before heading to bed. DH and I tried to hide on the girls in the pool around the island thingy but they kept finding us. They were stuck on us like glue.

JoJo and I both yelled too, having no idea what had frightened her. A racoon had jumped out of one of the garbage cans. We watched him open the door and then come out with some pizza!!!!
It all happened so quickly that we didn't think fast enough to snap off a picture of the little rascal.

Tell her not to come to Queen's if that stuff scares her. The squirrels and raccoons here are nuts! Students in the "ghetto" have had their window screens chewed through by them and will come home to find their houses trashed from these animals ransacking the place for food.
They also love to hang out in the garbage cans. Quite often you will push the lid open to throw something away and a squirrel will jump out. :scared:

Wouldn't you think, that they would keep the horse on property in a barn?
I watched one morning the trailer that brought the horse in. I saw it again over at the Wilderness Campground, a trailer bringing the horses in. That one really baffled me, since they have the riding stable over there.

Surprisingly, after having gone to bed early the night before, DH & I didn't wake up until 8:00! We headed to the food court and picked up tea, coffee, juice and danishes and then sat outside to soak up some early morning sun while sipping our beverages.
When we got back to our room we woke the girls up and let them eat their breakfast while we went ahead and took our shower.
Before our trip I purchased four POTC shirts from the Disney Store and today was the day I wanted everyone to sport them as we had a special character visit planned with Ariel. Funny thing was the others were not as enthusiastic about them as I was. The conversation went something like this:
DH: Do I have to wear the same shirt as you three?
Me: Yes! Don't be so silly, lots of families do that...you've seen them!
DH: [shakes his head at me]
Goofy: Mom, I don't want to wear that shirt - it's going to be too hot!
Me: Aw c'mon...it'll be fun!
JoJo: I agree with Goofy, I'd rather wear them when we go to the park at night!
Me: Hey! I thought it would be a neat thing to do so stop complaining and just wear them okay?
[Grunts, groans and sighs from all three]
I won! In the end they put on the special shirts I purchased especially for this day :)
You shall hear more about those T-shirts later on :rolleyes1

We arrived at the Magic Kingdom around 11:00 and as we were getting ready to go through the check point, DH & the girls were discussing the card readers and wondering if they really worked. I heard one of them say something about trying to test it out
Hooboy....If you're familiar with my TR's and past experiences with those three you'll understand why I decided to jump ahead of them and get through before they started their shenanigans. I didn't want to have any part of what they had planned. :scared:
I went through with no problems, walked up ahead, turned around and got out my camera. Figured I might get a good shot of them embarrassing themselves.
Goofy went through first and of course her card didn't work. She turned to JoJo and said innocently, "Oh...I must have your card". As if the CM didn't know what they were up to :sad2:
Then when it was Grumpy's turn he used a different finger and the CM said to him, "Are you trying to trick the machines too?"
At that point I burst out laughing and had to give credit to the CM for being such a fun sport about it!

We arrived back at POR around 3:45 and I took a little nappy
My gang woke me up at 5:30
You call that a Nap! That's barly enough time for Bo Derek to run down the beach in your dreams...not that you would be dreaming about Bo Derek...but just sayin
I had been using a Harry Potter one up until then.
You were wearing a Harry Potter Lanyard at Disney World.....Please tell me you weren't using it trade pins off of...:sad2:
That is such a pretty resort, I have to get over there and walk around sometime on one of future tirps
Around 9:00 p.m. we decided to head to the pool for a nice evening swim.
What no Pool Pictures...:confused3
While walking back down the winding pathway to our room, Goofy jumped aside and let out a scream which had a chain reaction effect! :scared1:
JoJo and I both yelled too, having no idea what had frightened her. A racoon had jumped out of one of the garbage cans. We watched him open the door and then come out with some pizza!!!!
It all happened so quickly that we didn't think fast enough to snap off a picture of the little rascal.
I thought you were like Mountain people or something
Nice update Heidi...:thumbsup2

Surprisingly, after having gone to bed early the night before, DH & I didn't wake up until 8:00! We headed to the food court and picked up tea, coffee, juice and danishes and then sat outside to soak up some early morning sun while sipping our beverages.
What a nice way to start the day......I mean without the girls...:rotfl2:
Sorry JoJo & Goofy...:worship:

We weren't in the park more than 10 minutes before the girls started complaining about the POTC shirts.
JoJo: These shirts are too hot!
JoJo: I knew we shouldn't have worn them!
Me: [wiping the sweat off my brow] What are ya talkin' bout? It's not THAT hot! [wiping more sweat off my brow]
Goofy: It is so Mom! My shirt is already sticking to me.
Me: [casually peeling the shirt off my back] It wouldn't have mattered what shirts we wore!
Grumpy: [Rolling his eyes at me]
Me: There's no point complaining....we're here now....let's get moving!! :rolleyes1

Did you know that Ariel has 6 sisters? It just so happens that I am friends with one of them and I met her right here on the DIS in 2006. My nickname for her is Peanut and she has a heart of gold.
When Peanut found out I was going to WDW again in 2007, she asked me if the girls would be interested in meeting her sister Ariel! What? Are you kidding me I told her - of course!!! You're probably wondering what the big deal is because anyone can go to Ariel's Grotto and meet the lovely Mermaid. However, since I knew her sister personally, we were able to bypass the line-up and go see Ariel through the secret back entrance :yay:
I was really looking forward to meeting Ariel as I had heard so much about her from Peanut. I also wanted to leave a good impression because apparently Ariel worries about Peanut and her online friends which is what good sisters should do!
We made our way to the secret entrance and said to the character handler, "Hi! We're friends of Ariel and she's expecting us!" The character handler said, "Yes she is, come this way."
A few bystanders were watching us with envy and that made us feel very important! It was a special moment that the girls & I will treasure for always. :goodvibes
Once inside we were lead to Ariel and I immediately passed on a message from Peanut. "Peanut says hi and told me to give you a hug!" At that point I was a little embarrassed.........
because remember those BLACK pirate shirts I made everyone wear? Ugh...I was hot and sweaty and I realized a hug was going to be .... shall we say.....ICKY.
:sad2:
Ariel was very gracious and appeared not to be bothered by it. She seemed genuinely happy to see us and was a BIG hit with the girls.
After taking a dozen or so photos and getting signatures for their shirts we said good-bye and thanked her for the private meet. I will always be grateful to Peanut for that opportunity. It definately pays to have connections!!!!!!
