Last year we were cruising for Christmas on DCL so we missed out on the tree swap that we have participated in the past. I was just checking to see if there has been a thread started about a 2008 tree swap or if the tree swap is not going to happen this year. Anyone know?:santa:

I do not know. I am interested as well. I will not have easy internet access after this weekend through July 26th, but I would be willing to help organize or organize if needed. Does anyone remember when the plans began last year? I don't think September is too late to start, but maybe it is.

Funny you should ask. I did a search and found that wdwstar initiated the 5th annual tree sharing thread exactly one year ago on July 3. :)

WDWStar does such a great job on this...and we enjoyed it on our only Christmas trip in 2006. Hopefully this wonderful tradition can carry on! :thumbsup2

I'm relatively new to the boards and this is the first I've ever heard of a Christmas tree swap. I just wanted to say how awesome that is and how great the people in the Disney community are!!! Keep it up everyone. :cool1:

I signed up for a tree last year and we really enjoyed having a Christmas tree in our room. We will be at AKV again this year the first week in December and I plan to donate a tree this year. It's a wonderful undertaking and wdwstar does a fantastic job coordinating the whole thing.

Gee, I did an advanced 'search' on this board and it looks as if WDWStar has not posted anywhere for quite a while.:confused3

It looks like mid-May was the last post.

We will spend our first Christmas at SSR this year and will look for the thread starting on July 10th.

Quick question, what gets passed along? Is it a tree plus ornaments or does everyone bring their own decorations for it?

What does the last person do with the tree?

Thanks again wdwstar:santa: ! I will look for the post on the 10th. By the way, last year the tree in the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge was almost as nice as the tree in my room;).

Bopsmom,

Wdwstar has posted the past years DVC Christmas tree sharing thread on the DVC Planning forum.

aprince&princess,

A DVC family donates a tree to be shared with other DVC families at one of the resorts. The tree will be shipped or brought down to the resort for the first family on that resort list to use. This will be a tree and ornaments as well as some may include lights/decorations for the balconies. Each family will donate $2 to $3 to help with the shipping to and from the resort. The last family on the list will ship the tree back to the family who donated the tree.

More info to come when wdwstar posts a new thread on 7/10/08.

Bopsmom,

I live on the east side of Houston, in the Northshore Area. Closer drive to WDW since we live a few miles from I-10.

We are going to be spending our first Xmas away from home and our two sons 11& 12 :santa: are concerned about the tree thing so we would love to take part in this.

We will be at BWV from Dec. 21-Dec. 26th.

We took part in the Chair Swap a few weeks ago in Vero Beach and it was wonderful.

Hoping to be part of this one too!!

I originally posted this thread and was gone on vacation when the tree sharing thread was started. I have been traveling a lot this summer and we are relocationg to Texas and trying to sell our home in Oregon so I have not been reading the boards too much lately. I finally found the tree sharing thread this morning and I think I am way too late to get on the list now. I am very dissapointed :santa: . I hope everyone who gets to share in the Magic of the tree swap enjoys every moment. We have been fortunate enough to share twice before and it is very special!
