Pretty sneaky post:rotfl: BUT I think I know who! GREAT IDEA FOR A WEDDING! In the event Swan bride's don't know this, (as I did not) you can request to have the wedding on their beach! Had I known this I would have def. looked in to that. Also, just b/c you book with Just Marry doesn't mean you can't handle things outside of the location and ceremony yourself. I should have/could have found my own florist, baker for the cake etc. and saved myself lots of $$$. Any help you need, I am here. :dance3: "mystery bride":dance3: BEST WISHES!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your interest, ladies!
I really need to get my toosh in gear :rotfl:. Here are a few more details:
There will be no bridal party.
One member of my family is in on it. I had to tell someone and I need some help.
And a couple of friends at home know and they are also people who want to help, probably will not be coming, and will absolutely keep the secret.
We'd been back & forth on ideas for a wedding. Decided that we want Disney, decided we wanted simple, were planning on being there anyway, so let's do it. The MDG (Mystery Disney Groom  ) had the idea to wait to tell the family & friends that will also be vacationing with us - he kind of put it "oh, by the way, please be at such & such on xx day because we are getting married."
I liked the idea. We are treating it like an "elaborate elopment". Not a first wedding for either of us and we've been together for some time now :rotfl2: . We wanted different and this will be different. I am sad for the few family members that will not be there but at the same time I don't want them to feel obligated to spend money traveling that they are not in a position to spend - especially where we are keeping it small and do not plan on entertaining guests or having a big reception or doing other customary destination wedding things. We also plan to keep the events brief yet special so that we don't cut into too much of our guests vacation time since the wedding will not be a known part of their itinerary (if all goes according to plan, that is). And of course there will be an at home reception for everyone a couple of months later.
We are considering telling the few of our close family members about it (that aren't coming) as it gets closer to give them an opportunity to be there. Just don't know what will happen if we let the cat out of the bag :dance3:
QUESTION:
Any ideas for a combo heavy h'orderve/dessert party? You think that is something offered by Disney for a non-DFTW event (also with a guest count < 20 and most not staying on Disney property)?
 - Me, the MDB (Mystery Disney Bride) in disguise :rotfl:

If this was myspace I would post my mood as "Frantic"! :scared1:
What was I thinking? I don't even have a full 6 months. No, we aren't doing a whole lot of traditional stuff but I am stressing nonetheless. I want to get the main things booked so I can focus on some fun stuff. But there is just so much I don't know and am getting confused about that my head is spinning.
Worried about a Dessert party (I posted a question about this on the main wedding board).
Worried about where we will stay. I have heard that we will be in Disney during Pop Warner week. Have no idea what this is all about but I hear one of the hotels they stay at is FQ and I was really hoping to stay there. Worried about lots of kids and extra noise and availability...
Worried about what I have gotten myself into and if I can get it all done...
I'm sure its all part of the stresses of planning a wedding. Thanks for listening to my vent!!

Hey All!
Dessert Party -
Still no answers. I called a few different numbers for Disney and ended up speaking to a lovely girl with DFTW. Somehow, I have been assigned Bill as a wedding coordinator. Somehow, they had a lot of my information in their system. I am confused as to how that happened. I really don't think Bill can help me with a Dessert Party without having a wedding, but hopefully he can get me in touch with someone who can.
Of course this just opened the really wanting a DFTW floodgates in my head. Fortunately, when Bill tried to contact me yesterday I was not available. We are not locked in with the Swan yet, but what they (Swan) have to offer just really works for what we want. I do have some questions for Bill and if we ever speak I bet I will ask. I called him back and left a message but haven't heard back yet. I just don't think we can swing the Disney package in the budget and I cannot justify paying for things that I won't be using. I still find it odd that they had me assigned to someone???
In any case, I am sticking with my date so if my "will" to "accidently" sign on with DFTW if I ever talk to him takes over...its probably too late to get the date anyways. Which would probably save my forthcoming marriage :lmao:
The Vision -
* A brass arch draped with a sheer white swag…gathered at the top and either side.
* On either side of the arch, small pedestals holding mini Christmas trees – with no decorations, just brushed with sparkly snow. On the pedestals around the bottom of the trees, some fluffy white snow and maybe three small Christmas ornaments (silver, soft light pink, iridescent white).
* A dusting (on the ground) of white rose petals outlining the top area of the walk way near the arch…maybe a few pink mixed in…but mostly white for the “snow” effect.
* The bride carries a bouquet of soft pink roses (no greens) with some simple crystal accents tied with a white ribbon pinned with a hidden Mickey.
* The Groom wears a white boutonnière and hidden Mickey cuff links.
* The cute little cake has a Mickey & Minnie cake topper – preferably in Christmas clothes – or the Precious Moments cake topper where the bride & groom are wearing Mickey ears. Cake is white…maybe a few pink dots or maybe some small snowflakes in the frosting…
* Cake table has some fluffy snow on it with a few snowflake votives and maybe a small floral arrangement of snowy sparkly sprayed pine and a pine green ribbon tied around the vase with a few small pink, silver, and iridescent Christmas ornaments scattered in the snow.
I'm going for simple/soft/Holiday Magic with a little Disney. Oh, and I have to have sparkle. I figure it is Christmas time and Disney will be decorated to the nines…and it is Disney so we must add the Disney factor.
Priority Checklist:
Coronado Springs & Park Hopper tix booked.
Still need to book a Dessert Party or Dinner or combo.
Still need to book flight.
Still need a dress.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that they probably assigned Bill to you as a "sales coordinator." Which is good because he will definitely be able to answer your questions. The people on the hotline aren't as knowledgeable about the details as the coordinator is.

Thanks Phiharmaestro.
Unfortunately, I still haven't heard back from Bill. I'm not sure that he can help me but I was at least hoping he could put me in touch with someone who can. I've heard over and over that you can book parties at Disney if you are willing to pay. I'm not sure how much I am willing to pay, but I'm willing.
Maybe I will have to leave him another message. :upsidedow

Couple more things to check off the to-do list...
Flight booked
First shopping appointment booked - this coming Friday night at David's Bridal!
Bill (who I've dubbed Disney Bill) has forwarded my message on to someone who should be able to help me book a Dessert Party. If this does not pan out, I have a few other options in mind but I'm not giving up yet.
Thought I'd share a few of my favorite things so far...
One of my favorite gowns - it's an Alfred Angelo:

Inspiration for Decor (thanks to another post in here). I may not have anything like this exactly but it inspired me. Think a soft pink where you see blue, and pine green or irredescant white where you see chocolate:

Dress news - bought one!!!
I had called a bridal shop yesterday to find out their hours and to see if you needed an appointment, etc etc. I was thinking I'd go there next week after David's to check out some other options. Well, the message said that they were going out of business and that all of their gowns were 50 - 75% off. I left a message and before I knew it, I had an appointment for last night after work, black bra and all! :lmao:
A good friend of mine met me there and I tried on about 6 gowns. I really liked 3 of them...but fell in love with 2 of them. The tie-breaker was the train on one of them...I just love the detail...oh, and the price - it was $100 less than the other. I got such a great deal and I love it. I have no pictures of if yet - was not very prepared to shop yesterday so I did not have my camera with me (no camera phone either).
It's a Demetrios Young Sophisticate. I cannot find it on their website - could be from a season or two ago??? I will try to describe it in case anyone is interested. It's got an empire waste with lots of sparkly detail around the chest. It is strapless. I think it is a matte satin - white - there is no other detail down the front of the gown, but it has a split back with detail that lines the train starting at the waste right down either side. And there is a sheer fabric over the train with little bits of detail on it. I don't know my train sizes - but it's longer than a sweep train, but not very long. It's a little poofy with a built in crinnie.
I'm so excited because I never thought I'd find anything so quickly and it makes it feel so much more real...my friend and I said "it's really happening." And I love a bargain - got it for $199!! Yay for the close-out sale!
Now I just need to find a seamstress. It needs to be shortened and taken in a bit around the chest :rolleyes1 . And of course, I need to find a creative way to take some pictures without giving myself away :rotfl:
Happy Day! :santa:

So far I have not heard from Park Catering as Disney Bill hoped I would (regarding Dessert Party). I contacted him as instructed (if I didn't hear by midweek) but have not heard back yet. BUT - a good but - after some clever research I have found a phone number. They are not opened this evening but be certain I am going to give them a ring in the morning :upsidedow . I've already gone into my closet a couple of times to take a peek. If I had the house to myself a bit more I'd probably have done it a lot more :lmao: . It's probably better that I leave it be though.
I've made a little progress with the dessert party. I was put in touch with Disney's catering people who have all of my info and know what I am looking for. And yes, it is absolutely possible to do this. It is not a function strictly for DFTW's. There are a whole lot of events/parties that Disney books for many different occasions. The key is that you need to be staying at a Disney resort (we are). Now it's just a matter of availability. I should have some kind of answer next week.
Keeping my fingers crossed - and working on a back up plan :dance3:

I have to say that I am a little disappointed. :confused3 I'm sure I am just a bit anxious and impatient - so sorry that I feel this way. But I still have heard nothing from Disney regarding a dessert party.
The last person I spoke with was on 7/25. Unfortunately I did not catch her name. But she was going to be my contact person. She was putting my info out to the Park Catering folks to see what availability there is for the date I am looking for. I figured it would take about a week to hear (maybe I'm not giving enough time). So today I tried to call her number and only get a fast busy signal all day.
My date is fast approaching and I need to have a plan. If the "post-wedding celebration" - "non-wedding attired Illuminations dessert party" is not going to pan out, I need an alternative and with less than 4 months out I think my options are less and less each passing day.
How much longer do you guys think I should hold out to hear from someone before I go to plan B? I'm such a busy person and will be out of town for a few days this week with limited access to my phone. I really want to do something special and different for our (hopefully) surprised guests. Any other suggestions?

08-04-2008, 09:12 PM
Pixie,
I'm sorry you have not heard anything. Not having our events on land, I really can't say how long to allow, but I feel a week was more than enough time for her to get back to you. If you still can't get through tomorrow, is there someone you talked to before at another number that could direct you again?

Thanks, girls! I am glad you like my dress. It's stuffed in my closet and I peak at it as often as possible. It's probably a good thing that I am not home alone a lot, otherwise I'd be trying it on all the time :rotfl: .
I emailed the DFTW contact guy (I was originally assigned to) this morning but have not heard back from him. I told him what was going on and that I am hoping he can get me the person's contact info. If I hear nothing when I get back in town next week I guess I will move on. I'm just very surprised with the lack of customer service with Disney - it is not like them at all. I've been trying to get some answers for about a month now. :confused3
I hope to have some updates next week...:wizard:

Oh my, I am such a dope! I must apologize for being upset with Disney and their customer service. I finally head from my contact on Friday. I guess she left a couple of messages with someone at home who did not give them to me. Well, I did get one a couple of weeks ago that "someone called from your hotel at Disney and they said they would call you back". I figured it had something to do with our room reservation (since even Coronado Springs came up on the caller ID). I just love the message takers at my house :sad2: Anyhow, seems like the dessert party is going to work out. She (Erika) told me she was not worried about time and that we should be able to book something - there is always the possibility that we may have to be flexible with the date but we should be able to have the party. I will know more next week. :cheer2: :yay:

Otherwise nothing new to report. I was out of town again and completely sidetracked from the wedding. Although I do not have lots of projects planned - I do need to get on the ball! I will blame it all on the DP roadblock.

As for transport - I plan on shipping the gown ahead of time to Carolyn Allen's. I am sure I will be nervous about sending it off, but I do not have to worry about lugging it around the airport. I also plan on shipping any other wedding related items ahead of time to my sister, who lives in the area and is in on the plans.
That said, there really isn't anyone traveling with us to keep the secret from. Most of the people coming live in FL and will br driving to their location a day or two ahead of us so we'd be good anyways. And if any of the close family that does live near us ends up coming - it will be because we tell them about it...so we'd just have to hold them to the secret. I wonder if we'll actually be able to pull this off - but it will be fun trying.

Here's the latest on the dessert party - we got Morocco. I am so happy to finally know that we get to have one. I can't believe it took as long as it did, but it should be all worth it in the end. Aside for having a wedding at Disney, the other big selling point for me was the dessert party pixiedust:
So here's the plan so far:
Let everyone know about the surprise when we arrive to Disney on Sunday night or maybe Monday morning. I have some ideas of how we'll do it - details to follow as I work them out (nothing over the top...I think the news will be over the top enough)
Enjoy a day in the parks on Monday
Tues 12/9:
Carolyn Allen's at 11am
Beautespecial at 11am for hair & make-up
Randy
Ceremony at 2pm at the Swan
Cake, 1st dance at the Swan, and a little time with our family
Send everyone off to go enjoy the parks and maybe have a quiet dinner together - or we can meet up with everyone for a super casual dinner somewhere???
Meet everyone back at Morocco or whatever the meeting place is for the DP

I have so much catching up to do - seriously. I did complete the wedding worksheet that my planner from the Swan sent me. It includes a lot of the details and things I would like for our ceremony. I guess the plan is to discuss it further next week.
I also played phone tag with Randy today - he called to ask me a few questions and I left a message for him with a few answers :lmao: ...but hopefully we will hook up and make sure he has all the needed info.
I think I found someone to do the alterations on my gown. But I still need all of my accessories, shoes, jewelry, etc.
I have questions out to my DP coordinator. Want to find out about maybe adding a little decor and a few other specifics.
But we have so many other things to do and not a whole lot of time. I've not been very motivated as there has been lots of other stuff going on and when I do get a little motivated I'm either busy or with someone who does not know the secret which makes it a little difficult to accomplish things...but I always say I work better under pressure - and I have made sure to keep plugging away at something wedding related so I'm sure one way or another it will all get done. I'm just disappointed with myself that I haven't jumped on the crafting train as I am usually very crafty and I haven't done one single craft for the wedding nor do I have anything planned. :sad2:
Does anyone know what is involved to 1. getting your marriage license by mail and 2. what is needed if you are divorced.

Still not much to update and still doing a lot of waiting.
I'm waiting for my Swan planner to get back to me about my details.
I'm waiting to hear back from my DP coordinator with answers to my questions and I am beginning to question this idea. I'm sort of having a change of heart and thinking a casual dinner might be nice. Unfortunately we cannot do both.
I do have an appointment for alterations in 2 weeks.
I plan to start working on the invitations soon. We are going to give them to our guests when we "reveal". The plan is for that to happen the night we arrive in Disney or the next day.
My sister is busy looking for a dress and when we find one, I will post a picture.
Told another very special family member that will not be able to be there what the plan was, and all is good there  .
Upcoming to do's - tux, shoes, hair piece, accessories, pay balance of trip.
I am hoping to have some pictures of something to post soon to help spice up this PJ :rotfl: .

:yay: Something accomplished today. My sister (MOH) bought a dress. We've been emailing each other back and forth for some time with pictures of dresses we like (she lives in FL & I don't :lmao: ). She made a trip to a bridal shop earlier in the week only to be told the dress she wanted could not get there until 12/5 - ahhhh  - nope since the wedding is 12/9, that won't work. So today she took a ride to David's and found this:
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Wedding%20Planning/Melissa8355.jpg
She bought it in black (cuz that is what the bride wanted LOL). She says it is longer on her than in the picture, but it fits great.
And since I am posting pictures, thought I'd post one of the hairstyles I am considering. I think I actually found this on someone else's PJ here a little while back. I am seriously considering no veil...just a little hair jewelry and this would work great for that option:

Hi There,
I am happy to share this information as it was nearly impossible to find on my own. I finally found the number to Disney Catering Services - which is 321-939-7278. I was asked a number of questions and they forwarded my request off to a coordinator that I've been working with since.
Things to know-
Yes, you can have a DP. It is not just for Disney Fairytale Wedding Events. People have them for birthday parties, family reunions, client events, etc. What you want to tell them is that it is for a post wedding celebration. You will not be able to wear your wedding attire or call it a reception.
Also, you will need to be persistant. It took me a while before I heard back from my coordinator. I am still not getting the quickest answers, but I do get answers and feel very comfortable about it working out.
The DP menus begin at about $22 per person on up depending on your selection and beverages. Most of the locations have a $250+ site fee and $75 set up fee. Also, they all have a minimum spending requirement. I am estimating about $800 for mine - this is based on 16 people and staying close to the minumum spending.
Good luck!!

Hi There!
Yes, I am getting so close. In some ways I am panicking as I still have so much to do & nervous hoping that all goes well, but in other ways I am very excited, too.
I won't bother chipping through my to-do list here because there is still too much to do and seeing it in writing on here will be ugly. :lmao:
I've dealt with a little fiasco with my alterations. A friend sent me to a friend and after my first fitting and working out a plan I ended up with the dress back a week later when things seemed to fall apart. So I had a few other recomendations but after stopping in one shop and finding out that they do not do wedding gowns and calling another lady to find out that she was napping with the grandaughter, I said FORGET IT! I do not have time to play around. I called a great little shop I found on line and the woman had me come right over. She was fabulous with me. We spent about an hour together going over everything - she picked apart details that I did not even think about. She plans on doing about 3 more fittings with me before she is done and she sees no problem having it done for my target date of 11/22. I feel comfortable that she will do a fabulous job - it's just going to cost me a fortune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hem alone is $250 and then there are cups and straps and removing beading and tucking here and there....:scared1: . Am I crazy?
Donald'sGirl
10-19-2008, 09:00 AM
No you are not crazy! Now I can't say whether or not that is a lot of money for alterations because I haven't had mine done yet but it sounds like you have someone that knows what they are doing so that's a relief.

We've purchased, sized and picked up our rings. DF just wanted a plain gold band and I got a small gold band with teeny diamonds in the center. I'll post a picture soon. I wanted small and simple that would not take away from the diamond. It fits me a little too tight so I'm going to bring it back to see if they can make it a wee bit bigger.
My second fitting is Saturday. I may get my jewelry from the tailor - she has some nice things so I will try some stuff on while I have the dress on.
On a crazy mission for favors. I have had no luck finding things to make a special Christmas ornament - many trips to the craft stores so I may move on. I found the cutest silver snowflake votive at Target the other day - they only had 2 so I bought both. I was thinking to use as decor during the ceremony, but I'm wondering if I can find a bunch more and use them as favors. We'll see.
I got my white ballet slippers and I just need to decorate them.
My friends who are in on the secret offered to do a craft night with me next week to work on the favors and invitations. Thank goodness for these girls - they are totally saving me. I don't know what I would do without them :grouphug:
12/9 is too close for comfort at this point :scared1:

I was just going to suggest the same thing after I read she was having trouble and you did it for me! The store is really great plus if you want you can have it personalized with each person's names!

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! I think I may be on to something - there is a cute little silver/mirrored snowflake votive holder that I found at Target. It will work perfectly with my theme. I figure I can tie a soft pink ribbon around it, add a pink or white votive, maybe add a net full of pink candy and stick them in the bags I have planned and call it a day!
We've moved our craft day from next Thursday to the 16th. This will give me some time to find more supplies (so far between 2 Targets, I have only found 6 votives holders). We'll see.
Still doing a lot of waiting - it's almost time to finalize and pay balances on the DP and the Swan, but seems like lots of details needing to be worked out. I may have to go bridezilla in the next week or two to get some answers back from these people.
I had my second fitting today. It's amazing how much better a dress feels when it doesn't fall down! She's done an amazing job so far. The top is nice and snug and a bit more shapely where it should be ( ), she's now ready to secure the straps and hem it. I go back the 15th for my next fitting. I also picked out some jewelry from her - just a simple dainty necklace that has about 5 or 6 crystals on it with one kind of pointed down in the center - and matching earings.
:wizard: Ta dah - I have pictures........

The back of the dress is what sold me on the dress. The back is also why I have been considering not having a veil. More on that... But thank you!!

Crazy! You got that right :scared1: :lmao: . Thank you.
Love your dress!!!! The back is gorgeous.
Thank you! Again, the back is my favorite part.
I've been considering not wearing a veil. I think they are very pretty but I don't love the idea of one on my head. And when I ever got this dress and thought about the veil covering up the back it led me to think, no veil. But over the weekend, I started thinking that a veil might make me feel more like a bride. I ordered a 26inch 1 tier simple veil off of ebay last night. It was dirt cheap (and hopefully won't look that way LOL). But I figure one tier will be nice and transparent, 26 inches is not very long, and maybe I could bedazzle it with a few rhinestones and a hidden mickey or two. And being cheap, if I don't like it with the dress, I won't feel guilty about scrapping the idea.
In other news, the application for license by mail arrived today. I just emailed it last Thursday I think - that was super fast!
Still no word from either the Swan or Disney. I might need to go bridezilla in a few days :rotfl2:

Marriage license application notarized & mailed back to Florida this week.
Gift tags for favors are almost done.
Crafting day with friends on Sunday to hopefully get the favors and invitations done (remember, invites are more of a souvenir in our situation). Also hope to practice bedazzling the veil.
Have another fitting tomorrow. I got my wrap back so I will br bringing that and the veil with me to see how they all look together.
Finalized all details with the Swan and will be mailing final payment this weekend.
Almost all finalized with Disney on the DP.
Still need Tux.
Need to contact Rev Tim Herring - (we got him!!) to do the ceremony stuff.
Disney tickets and itinerary have arrived :)
Lots more stuff to do...
I promise to take pictures of any of the crafts we finish on Sunday.

Lots to report - just have not had lots of time to post. I am very limited with the time I have so I have to be super disciplined if I am going to get it all done. Other than Thanksgiving (which I am cooking for) I have no days off before we leave for Disney - between my regular job and side job. It's all a bit overwhelming - but I do see the light at the end of the tunnel...
Went to my friends for crafting last week and they threw me a surprise shower! These are my best friends who are in on the secret - they are so awesome. I will have to wait to post pictures until after the reveal :lmao:
The favors are just about done. I need to put together a couple of more "just in case" bags. And then I need to get them packed up & ship them off to my sister.
The dress was picked up today! It came out awesome. I am so happy that I found the fabulous (expensive) tailor that I did. But I look at it like this - I spend a total of $716 for the dress + alterations for an $1100 gown - so even though the alterations costs significantly more than I paid for the dress - in total I think I did alright.
We have the license, the Swan is paid, Disney is paid - credit card bills will never be paid :rotfl:
Lots of other odds & ends to finish but I'm feeling alright about it all - at the moment anyway. When I get some time I will try to get some pictures of the favors and invites up. Otherwise I will include it all in a trip report soon...
We leave for Disney in 2 weeks

Hello Everyone!
I know it's been slow on the updates. I'm just so busy working and trying to get everything together. AND THEN DF ended up needing some surgery this past weekend. Fortunately all went well and he's home and should be just fine for our trip.
Of course I am worried about everything and anything that could go wrong - sickness, snow storms, missing vendors, family drama. I am a worryholic, what can I say
Dress was shipped Friday. Decor and misc items shipped to planner yesterday. Favors shipped to our hotel yesterday.
It's pretty much just finding some last minute things that I want to take with us, get all of our itinerary and our notes (vendor info, contracts, etc) together, get my Christmas cards finished, get some things around the house all taken care of, pack and wait to go!! We leave Sunday.
I am very excited!

No, we haven't left yet. We are leaving tomorrow. I apologize for the fizzle on the PJ - time has just gotten so far away from me. I am at my desk at the moment trying to get some bills organized and then I'll be back off and running trying to get everything done. Granted I have no where near the amount of things to do had I been having a traditional wedding, but there are still many things to take care of before we go - some wedding related and some not. If I could have taken even just 2 days off from work this week it would have been perfect - but that's alright.
I was hoping to get some pictures up before I go - I will try to later if I have time, but if not I promise to finish up the PJ and start a TR when I get back.

Hello Everyone!
Thank you so much for the well wishes. I am home and I am anxious to get started on the TR – of course there are a few pieces of the PJ puzzle I have to fill in. I promise I will do that soon. I have lots of Christmas stuff and things to catch up on at home and once I get a handle on that I will get this journal up to date.
I will tell you that we had an awesome time in Disney – and oh yes, the wedding was amazing! There were things about it that were wonderful, things that were good and a couple of things that were alright, but no fiascos or problems. The guests loved it and yeah – we shocked a whole bunch of people last week!
I did have one BIG fiasco after the wedding. Sunday night (at home) I was attempting to upload all of the pictures I took throughout the week and managed to somehow wipe out the whole memory card. I lost over 100 pictures! The computer did capture about 50 of them before yours truly destroyed all of her hard work so at least it wasn’t a total loss. I was so upset, I still am actually. We had a lot of fun shots on there. At least none of the wedding pics were lost as I didn’t take any on my camera – but still.
I am very anxious and excited to see my pictures from Randy. Like most say, he was amazing to work with and I just hope those photos come out as good and as fun as we had while taking them (I hope that made sense). I would post some of the teaser pics I have but I am sneaking in here from work and cannot access any photobucket type sites from here – damn blockers!
See you real soon –

Hello Everyone - hope you are having fabulous holidays!
I am very excited to get this TR started. I have to tell you that I had another picture mishap which caused me to delay this. I am thinking about banning myself from touching my digital camera.
I had planned on filling in some of the blanks and adding the pictures from my shower and the favors and other crafts I worked on to finish of the PJ portion of my journal. Well, I cannot find the pictures anywhere. They were not on the same memory card as the one I wiped out. I believe I took the memory card out of my camera and put it away before we left on our trip. The problem is, I cannot find the dern thing! I hope that it is just lost because then there is hope that I will find it. I hope that I did not wipe out another memory card and just not realize it - I had a ton of pictures on there.
But now that Chrismtas is over with, I have time to get things started. So I am not going to dwell. When I get home tonight I plan on getting the first installment up. I've already uploaded a couple of days worth of pictures (that I did not lose) to Photobucket, so I should be good to go.
Be back later :thumbsup2

For those of you who do not already know, I am XmasPixie. I will continue posting as XmasPixie in my journal so not to make things more confusing and so I can edit the titles and such. Some of you figured it out and a few of you PM'd me to ask - and I had no problem telling anyone who asked.
I apologize for confusing anyone who may remember me. It was just so important for John & I to try and keep the surprise part of the wedding a surprise. I was very much hoping to keep a fabulous PJ and the only way I could think of doing so without getting caught by any of our family members or friends was to change my name and never post pictures and such. I was successful with the name change and the surprise, but the fabulous PJ never really took off because time just kept getting away from me.
I figured I'd make a post here now that the wedding has happened to include the link to my old Preplanning Journal so you could read more of my back story (if interested). The link is included in this signature.
I thought this might be a good way to start and the first (big blank) to fill in. Enjoy...

Day 1, Part 1 – 12/7/08
Good Morning!
Today was the day we left for Disney World. I was a bundle of nerves because there was so much to do before we left and I was nervous for the flight. I was also full of anxiety hoping that all of the preparations and planning would work out – all of the things I’d been dreaming about and wishing for were about to happen, it was time to face the music. I was so excited because John and I had been waiting for this for so long and it was hard to believe that it was all actually about to happen. I was also worried about what our family and friends would think. I was pretty sure that the ones we would be surprising in Florida would be happy, but the ones we were leaving behind might feel sad or left out.
John reminded me that the kids were all happy for us when we told them. Remember, they all thought we were going to elope on our Disney trip last year. He told me not to forget that we don’t have the money for a big wedding, that I’d been dreaming of a Disney wedding and that we were saving a lot of money doing it this way. And we are going to have a big party in a couple of months so we can celebrate with the rest of our family and friends. He always seems to know just what to say to calm me down and make me feel better, I love him!
Of course, it was snowing out! Why wouldn’t there be something to add to the commotion? Wow, I could not wait to get out of the winter weather and get to a nice warm Florida!!
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Disney%20Trip%2012-08/IMG_0350-1.jpg
As the morning went on I manage to get all of my packing done. I calmed myself down a little by putting my trust into the people I’d hired and the work I had done. What was going to happen was going to happen. I did not expecting perfection, I was just hoping for smoothness and amazing memories. It was time to be on vacation and enjoy.
I took a couple of pictures at Logan…

Our plane had to be de-iced. This freaked us out a little as we both hate to fly. Neither of us had ever been on a plane that needed to be de-iced. It was kind of interesting to watch. Felt like we were in a giant car wash. But in the end, we only took off about 10 minutes later than scheduled. I think we landed right on time and our flight ended up being the smoothest flight and smoothest landing ever. We were off to a great start!

Yay--the story begins (or, err, re-begins!)
and I hate flying and de-icing too--have only had it happen once but that was enough!

For whatever reason it seemed to take a lot longer to get off the plane and make our way through Orlando Airport to find the Magic Express. And although the Magic Express lines were not long at all, it really felt like forever to get squared away, get on our bus and arrive at our hotel. We landed about 6:20pm and we were not at Coronado Springs until just after 8:30. Maybe this is normal but I don’t remember it taking that long in the past and in any case, it definitely felt like it took forever.
Let me back track just a little. When we left home it was freezing and snowing so I had my winter jacket on. I questioned leaving the house with it, but knew I would freeze with just a sweatshirt and was worried what type of weather we would be coming home to the next week. When we got off of our plane, I took off my jacket and said to John that I hate to have to carry this thing around. He told me not to worry about it and stuffed it in the front pouch of his garment bag (which was holding his tuxedo). Now when we ever stepped off of our bus at Coronado Springs, I almost died! It was freezing!! We could see our breath. Within moments I had that jacket of mine out of John’s bag and right back on me. I was actually quite mad. I did not travel all the way to Florida to escape winter to be freezing! Who knew it could be so cold at Disney World?!?
Our check-in was not the smoothest experience I’ve ever had at Disney. Our cast member was very nice but she seemed very young and did not speak English well at all. There was some confusion because we had requested a king size bed. But we had also requested a water view (which was the more desirable option for us) but I think that option was not included with our reservation. She was concerned and made a big deal out of the fact that there were no king sized beds available. Before we knew it she disappeared to check with someone about the room and came back to tell us that they found one, but it was far away. I am not sure how many of you are familiar with just how big the Coronado Springs Resort is, so let me tell you that John and I joked that our room was so far away that we were in Alabama. Yikes! If there hadn’t been such a language barrier, I would have asked where exactly the room was (we’d stayed at this resort before) and definitely suggested a different room before agreeing to this one. But it was such a big to do for her to get us this room and so hard for us to understand what we were being told and we were so tired and anxious to get settled, that we just went along with it all.
During the check-in process, we were given an envelope from the hotel. Inside it contained a certificate to go to the Laguna Bar for a complimentary champagne toast as a honeymoon gift. We were also told that a package had been delivered for us to the hotel and given instructions on how to retrieve it. I had shipped a box containing our wedding favors to the hotel the previous week and had hoped to be able to get the items when we checked in. I was hoping that John and I could put the favors together that night or the next morning.
Once we were finally all checked in and given our map to get to our room in Alabama, we headed to Bell Services to request a ride on the little shuttles they have. Thank goodness we did. It was freezing outside, we were exhausted and I think we would have gotten lost finding our way.
When we finally made it to this room, which I nicknamed the nursing home room (so not impressed – and no water view), the phone started ringing. John’s family had arrived to their vacation house the day before and were wondering where we were. None of us thought it would take so long for us to arrive. We found out that they had spent the day at Seaworld, which we were kind of hoping to do with them during the week. Unfortunately, I could not get any plans scheduled with the family ahead of time other that to make sure they left Tuesday free. I’m not sure how this went so wrong other than communication issues. It’s too bad because I tried. As most of you know, Disney is not the place to go without a game plan – especially with a group. Anyways, they had told us that they would catch up with us tomorrow. This was absolutely not acceptable to me! I was determined to drop the surprise that night! There was too much to be done the next day to wait. I had big plans. John completely understood and our next mission was to get an address and a cab. Can I stress how much I love John?

Xmaspixie,
I am doing a VR at the Swan in Dec.'09, so I am so glad to see your pictures!! There is very little information available out there on the Swan. So keep it coming!!!
About your pictures. I am a professional photographer, so I know a few things about SD cards and such. Your pictures can still be retrieved off of your card if you still have it. Take it to a place like Ritz Camera - If they have them where you live - down here they are usually in the mall. They are able to use the magic of computers to retrieve the files. I know that with some of my software, I can still see the deleted files too, after they have been taken off, so they still lurk somewhere on the cards. Good luck!!!

I'm so glad you are all enjoying my report. And now what you've been waiting for...
Day 1, Part 3
Getting a cab was quite the adventure! We finally figured out the address to the house where John’s family was staying. This was also a project as they kept giving us directions, “take a right at Publix, watch for the white picket fence”…I don’t think they understood that we had no car. I think they thought my sister was already with us with her car, but she was not coming until the next day. Of course at that point, no one was certain about the street address. When we thought we had it, I was on the phone with the taxi company and John was on the cell with his brother clarifying whether they were in Orlando or Davenport because the taxi company could not find the address on the GPS…what a fiasco. We got our $27 one way trip quote and waited for the call that the taxi was there. We were cold, hungry and tired but excited to be going to see John’s mom and the family and surprise them.
Of course there was more confusion when the taxi arrived at Coronado. The two of us were walking around the parking lots near our building looking for a taxi, no taxi. I called the company back and got someone who had to try to track down the driver. After a few minutes of confusion we were told that the Disney people would not let the taxi back to our building, we had to go to the lobby. I asked that they please wait the 15 minutes it was going to take us to get out there because our room was in the boonies. I think we ran – well, I am pretty sure I did because like I said, freezing!!!
The taxi was waiting for us (thank goodness) but he had no idea where we were going. He kept saying “you know exactly”, I could not understand him at first. John figured it out and said, “no way, man, we aren’t from here.” The people who answered the phone when we ordered the taxi needed all the specifics, they had the GPS, tracked out the trip, gave me the mileage, and said no problem. The poor drivers don’t have this stuff in the cabs. With the help of the cell phones and a little luck, we made it to our destination.
Tara, my SIL was waiting outside for us. There was lots of hugging and chatting. It was so nice to see everyone. We joked with the friends that were there from our hometown. There was Judy & Darryl and their grown children Kassandra & Brian. They are very good friends with John’s brother and wife who recently moved to FL from MA. I think the last time we saw Judy & Darryl were when Jeff & Tara came up for a visit last May – so the joke was that we had to come all the way to Florida to see them.
John’s mom, Jeff & Tara’s daughter, Jessie, and Kassandra’s baby, Trey were also there. And also Brian’s sort of girlfriend, sort of ex-girlfriend Alicia (I’m not really sure – it depends on who you asked) and daughter Alana were there, too. So there was a house full.
After settling in and getting some water (did I mention how hungry we were) I decided it was time for the surprise. So I walked over to the table and picked up my Santa gift bag and began passing out the invitations. I got a lot of “what is this” “I bet it’s a Christmas card or an invitation”…people have been waiting a long long time for our wedding, I think the guess was it was an invitation for a upcoming spring wedding ha ha ha…
John’s mom was the first one to realize what was in the envelope. She screamed and the hugging and the tears began. It was awesome and overwhelming all at the same time. We got a thousand questions. How could we keep it a secret, how did we manage to pull this off, what about the kids, what about John’s other brothers and sister. And lots of “Oh my God” and “this is amazing” and more hugs and tears and some phone calls… I think Jessie had it posted on her myspace page within minutes of the reveal. It was emotional, amazing and something we will never forget.

We stayed for about an hour or two and then went through the same fiasco to get a taxi back to Coronado. At least this time our driver spoke more English and we sort of had an idea or where we were going or at least how to get out of the area we were in and towards Disney. We did not get back to the hotel until after 1am (after a detour through Hollywood Studios gigantic empty parking lot – oops wrong turn). By then all of the restaurants were closed and we needed food bad. We were dropped off at the lobby and asked the first cast member we saw how we could get food. They told us that there might be some sandwiches at the front desk, if not we could order pizza but it would be delivered to the lobby only (so there was the chance we’d be hanging out in the lobby for quite a while).
Fortunately, there were a few sandwiches for sale at the front desk. They came in little plastic containers with apples. They weren’t very good, but they weren’t horrible and it kind of didn’t matter as we hardly ate a thing all day and needed something! We crashed about 2:00 am in the nursing home bed in the nursing home room in Alabama. But we were very happy with the outcome of our surprise. That made all the commotion, confusion, and crappy sandwiches worth it!
**I will post a picture or two of the invitations I made once I get then uploaded. I never did get them into the PJ...

Thank you, I loved it, too! They got my color perfectly. I think there were 2 dozen roses in there. I specifically asked for one that was not too big. I didn't want it to be too heavy and I like simple and dainty.

12/8/08 Day 2, Part 1
Our day started out on the crazy side. We both woke up quite early and very sore, neither one of us slept well at all. The bed was so uncomfortable, our necks and backs were killing us. Inside, I was so upset about this. I really hated our room and I started feeling like I would quickly fall apart. I decided not to tell John what I was feeling because I knew I would lose it and then make him upset. I figured I was tired from our late night last night and the traveling. I hoped that once our day got going and we made our way to one of the parks, things would improve.
John decided he would go for breakfast while I took a shower. This way we could eat in the room while I finished getting ready. John had to make sure he ate a decent breakfast as he was still on a lot of medication from his surgery and could not take it on an empty stomach. I wasn’t sure how successful a trip to Pepper Market for breakfast would be since we were so far away, but he was all for it.
Well, the shower was awful and really put me over the edge. Like I said earlier, we were in a handicap accessible room. Unlike some of these rooms, we did have a bathtub with a shower but the shower head was connected to a moveable hose that unhooked. You could hold the hose and move it to you should you need or want to. I did not realize this at first. Instead I kept trying to straighten the nozzle to make the very low water pressure shower spray to the middle of the tub and on me instead of toward the wall. I thought it was going to take an hour alone to rinse my hair out. I think I cried while I was in there and decided this was definitely not magic. By the time I was done I did figured out that I could pick up the nozzle and bring it to me to get a more effective rinse, but overall it was nightmare.
I walked out of the bathroom about the same time John arrived with our ice cold breakfast. He was all sweaty from walking. He said he tried to walk real fast to get the food back to the room before it got cold. He was not happy either. I looked at him and told him that I was calling the front desk to see if we could change our room, our room was room was ridiculous and we were not feeling the magic. This was not what we wanted for our honeymoon and we needed to try to make things better.
The cast member on the phone said that they did have another room available and ready in Casitas 4 but it had 2 queen beds not a king. I told her we would be very happy with that. She said we’d have to come to the front to get new room keys. I looked at the clock and panicked a little. I was sitting there with wet hair, in my PJ’s, picking at my cold breakfast, the mess of a room and just a little over an hour to get myself together, pack up the room, make our way to the lobby to change rooms, bring our stuff to the new room and get to the salon for my manicure. I also would have to call the delivery people that I left a message with the night before to have my package (with the favors) switched to the new room instead of our current room.
It was like a race. John and I laughed that we felt like we were on Amazing Race. I don’t know how we did it, but we did. There was a little snafu at the check-in desk when the cast member gave us new keys and they were for the room we had just left. When I questioned this, she said the new room was not ready. I had to stop myself because I just about burst into tears. All I could think of was poor John standing there with all of our luggage that we just dragged across the resort to get here, and what was the poor guy going to do with it all and himself while I went to get my stupid nails done. But the cast member looked at a couple of things in the computer when I said that we were told there was a room in Casitas 4 available and thankfully she found it and we were all set. We practically ran all of our stuff down to this room and I had just enough time to drop my stuff, make a quick call to the package delivery people and get over to the salon with 2 minutes to spare. Thank goodness a manicure is a relaxing event.

Day 2, Part 2
My manicure at Casa de Belleza was exactly what I needed to restart this day. The salon was small but comfortable. My manicurist was Carol. She was the only person in the salon and she was waiting for me to arrive. She was so cute – she had one of the hair dryers (that you sit under) running to help warm up the room. She thought it was a bit chilly in there.
She did a nice job with my nails. The color I chose was not my favorite, but I felt like there were slim pickings when it came to their selection. That said, I was still frazzled from our room switching adventure so I might have overlooked some choices. But I quickly moved on as my nails were not going to be the main focus of my big day, they were polished and pretty, the manicure was relaxing and enjoyable. I was good to go.
I arrived back to our new room to find that my box of favors had been delivered. I was also happily surprised to find a gift basket from my sister and BIL. The basket included the Mickey & Minnie wedding ears, wine, Mickey toasting glasses, and a few sweets. This was so very nice of them to send to us.

John was not in the room so I took a few minutes to relax. I then realized what an awesome room we had. We were not super close to the lobby, but we were a reasonable distance away and we had a fabulous view.
Our room:

Once I decided that my nails were dry enough, I started unpacking my things and settled in. When John returned, he helped me open up my very securely shipped box and we put our favor bags together.
While we were working on the favors, we got a call from my mom. She and her boyfriend arrived and were checking in (they were staying at our hotel). She told me that their room was not ready and asked if we were hungry. It was lunch time and we were hungry so we finished the favors and went to the lobby to meet them. First, we had to give them their official reveal.
They had been clued in a little bit on Thanksgiving. They were pretty sure there was going to be a wedding, but knew none of the specifics. Due to doctor appointments, their schedule, and the fact that they were not part of the trip we had to tell them something to make sure they would come to Disney for the wedding. I was not planning on telling them that there would be a wedding, but they kind of guessed. I believe they thought there would be some kind of elopement and then we’d just hang out in Disney. I don’t think they realized that the wedding was going to be a little more elaborate than that. They were so happy when we gave them their invitation. I just loved surprising my mom, just like I enjoyed surprising John’s mom the previous night.
The four of us then went to Pepper Market for a tasty lunch. I’m sorry to disappoint, but I have no food pictures to share…I’m just not a foodie at all so I didn’t even think to take any shots. When lunch was done, my mom’s room was ready so John and I made the trek across the resort to meet them in their parking lot. We helped them unload their car and settle into their room. We then headed back to our room to make plans for the rest of the day.
Somewhere in between all of these things, I called all of my vendors to confirm things for the next day and leave our room number. I pretty much got everyone’s voice mail so I left messages. Susan Southerland (Swan planner) called me to check in and to remind me that there would be a room available at the Swan for us to get ready in the next day should we chose to use it.
We felt like we had a good handle on all the wedding to-do’s and we were ready to go have fun. I called my sister to see if she had arrived yet and to give her our status. I got her voice mail so left her a message to give us a call. We tried to call John’s brother to see what they were up to. They had mentioned that the girls wanted to go shopping for dresses to wear to the wedding in the morning and then maybe heading over to the ICE show at Gaylord Palm’s. We got their voice mails but told them to give us a call and maybe we’d catch up with them if they were on property somewhere.
Before long we heard back from our niece. They had spent the day in Animal Kingdom and would be leaving soon. We were a bit disappointed because we probably would have planned our day a bit differently and went with them. Or at least John could have gone with them and I could have caught up with them after my manicure. There seemed to have been a bit of a communication issue from the night before where it was thought that I was spending the day at a spa. I’m not sure what they thought John was going to do all day. We also made the mistake of not calling them until later in the day as we thought they were going to be off property and we did not want to spend any more money on cabs or tickets to other events. It’s too bad that things got mixed up like this (another reason why planning ahead would have been helpful).
So John and I decided that we were going to Hollywood Studios. My sister called to let us know that she was checking in at Caribbean Beach so we told her our plans, she said she’d meet us over there. We also let my mom know to meet us over there. John’s family said they’d call us when they got back to their house to let us know the plans for Jessie and Kassandra’s birthday dinner that night.

I do have the next installment ready (for those who are anxiously awaiting it :rotfl2: ). I should have it posted soon.
But just in case you are interested, our Randy pics are available. He did an awesome job. Of course he caught lots of blooper pics, but we are a bunch of goofs so it was probably hard to catch pictures without someone making a funny face LOL. He definitely captured "us" I tell ya!

ETA: Check out the Boardwalk pictures. There was hardly anyone around when we were out there. Randy even commented that he couldn't believe how few people were around - said he never sees it like that. You can tell in most of our pictures, it looks like we had the place all to ourselves!

I have to say your pictures are so beautiful! It was nice to get a chance to see the setup at the Swan. Randy really did get some great shots at BW; in some of the shots it looks like absolutely no one else was around! Your cake looked really yummy, what flavors do they offer there? Also, your pink bouquet looked really nice. It was nice to see the group shots; it looks like you were able to pull off the surprise for a pretty good size group :thumbsup2

None of us could get over how empty the BW was. We'll just tell people we "bought it out" for the afternoon :rotfl2: j/k. The cake was yummy. There were a bunch of different flavors they offer but the most popular one that they do is a yellow with the stawberry and creme fill. It was yummy! :thumbsup2

I love the shot by the trees on the bridge that brings you from Swan/Dolphin to Boardwalk and my favorite is the one where you are resting your chin on John's head with the biggest smile on your face!!

Thank you so much for looking at my pictures and your lovely comments. Boy do I have lots of catching up to do....
It's been a long but exciting week, having my son home from Iraq for a visit and then being sick on top of it.

Day 2, Part 3
We were so excited to finally get into one of the parks. Even though we felt a little like we wasted too much of the day, we did get a lot accomplished so we decided to just enjoy the rest of the night.
Here’s the giant Christmas tree outside of DHS:
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Disney%20Trip%2012-08/IMG_0372.jpg
John and I walked around a bit waiting for my sister’s call. We finally went on the Great Movie Ride. This was my third trip to Disney and the first time getting on this ride. The ride was not working the last two times I visited, it was temporarily closed for technical difficulties. We finally got to enjoy it - loved it!
John spotted a hawk sitting on the dinosaur at Echo Lake. He always spots things like this. We had to take some pictures:
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Disney%20Trip%2012-08/IMG_0375.jpghttp://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Disney%20Trip%2012-08/IMG_0374.jpg
We got the call that my sister was at the gate so we walked down to meet her. She was hungry so we grabbed some snacks at one of the concession stands and started walking around. We didn’t want to go too far because we know my mother and Jim (her BF) would be arriving soon.
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Disney%20Trip%2012-08/IMG_0376.jpg
Before my mom got there, we got a few calls from SIL and BIL and niece with potential plans for dinner. They were trying to get reservations at Margaritaville’s. We wanted to join them but had no way to get there. Melissa did not want to drive and we did not want to spend money on a cab so it didn’t look like we’d be joining them. After a while we heard back from them and they ended up making ressie’s at Planet Hollywood DTD. We said we’d do our best to meet up with them. It was all weird. We wanted to go, but we finally got to a park and we wanted to stay.
My mother and Jim arrived. After a bit of shopping it was starting to get dark so the five of us headed over to the Osbourne lights. Oh my God, this was absolutely incredible. When I ever walked around the corner and onto the Streets of America and saw the lights I could not help but cry. I had never seen anything like this before and it was amazing. Within minutes they played the announcement and the lights started dancing. And then everyone around us started dancing. I loved it. For the rest of the Christmas season, whenever I heard Feliz Navidad on the radio it took me right back to these moments. I was so happy to have experienced this and to have shared it with my family.
Just a few pics from my collection:

We wondered up and down the streets for a while and enjoyed the show. It snowed each time they were done with a song where the lights danced. It was such a happy feeling.
At one point we walked through one of the alley ways and ended up going to see the Muppets 3D show. I love that show. And then we decided to head back through the lights before we left the park.
On our way out, I grabbed a picture of the ornament kickline in one of the store fronts. I loved this display (especially being a dancer).
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Disney%20Trip%2012-08/IMG_0378.jpg
My mom and Jim headed back for their hotel. Melissa, John & I decided to go over to Downtown Disney to see if we could meet up with John’s family. We knew we probably missed their dinner but still wanted to try and catch up with them. It took us a bit longer to get there via the bus system.
We did in fact miss dinner but found the group at the Virgin Megastore. We hung out with them for a bit before they decided to head back to their house. We felt bad that we missed the birthday celebration (both Jessie and Kassandra were celebrating their 25th that week). It was just a crazy day with a whole lot of mixed up communication. But we were all looking forward to the wedding the next day. After the group left, Melissa, John & I ended up going to Planet Hollywood ourselves for dinner.
We had another little ordeal trying to get back to our hotel. The three of us were waiting for our resort buses and the lines just happened to be next to each other. The Coronado Springs bus came just in front of the Caribbean Beach bus, only our bus slowed down and then drove right on by. John & I were standing right at the bench, there was no one else waiting (the benches over on this side of DTD are in between bus lines) and tried waving the bus down but it just kept going. Melissa’s bus pulled up and she got on. She called us to let us know that her bus driver called in to make sure a bus came for us (she had asked if it was normal for a bus to drive on by without stopping). And about 2 minutes later an empty bus pulled in and took us back to the resort.
This day was full of everything from mishaps to fun and amazement. In the end, it was very enjoyable. We got back to our room and crashed. We were exhausted but very excited for our big day the next day.

Hi Amy!! Thank you for checking them out and thanks for the compliments! I am very happy with the pictures. No worries about just getting to them either - I have also been very busy (as you can see by the lack of updating with this TR LOL).
I also loved the way the arch turned out. I had requested just the fabric swag and no flowers. I asked my planner if I sent down some decorations would they include them at the location. She said it would not be a problem as long as they weren't something crazy that they had to put together and stuff. I found those ornaments at Michael's and thought they worked perfectly with the theme and colors I was going for. I sent them to Susan with some of our other items (guestbook, memorial pictures, etc) and kind of left it up to her what to do with them. I had been thinking they could be put around the cake table or something. Susan told me after the ceremony that she had no idea what to do with them and then got the idea to add them to the arch. She even made Mickey heads out of a few of them. I did not see them until our ceremony and thought they were perfect! Definitely unique, too.
I have started worked on the next installment (wedding day is next). And I hope to get it posted soon.

How can I put into words the feeling I had when I woke up the morning of the wedding? I was excited, I was calm yet nervous all at the same time, I was giddy, I was emotional, I was a little anxious but mostly I was so happy. It all kept coming at me in big waves. I would suddenly get this urge to laugh and cry and get butterflies all at once. I’ve never experienced this before. It was a feeling I hope to never forget.
I told John that it was finally time to face the music. All of our planning and dreams and wishes were about to happen. Our 16 years of being together and waiting for this day were finally here, hence the nerves. I wanted everything to go according to schedule. I did not expect perfection, but I did not want anything to go wrong. And I mostly wanted us to have a beautiful memorable day and for our guests to enjoy it right along with us. It was kind of a big undertaking.
We woke up on the early side. We slept much better than the previous night (such a better room and more comfortable bed), but were eager to get up and get going. There was no need to rush since we were having a 2pm ceremony. Ana from BeauteSpeciale was due to arrive at 10am and Carolyn Allen’s was coming at 11am with my gown. My sister planned to arrive about 9:30 – 9:45. We were up and taking things at a relaxing pace about 6:45 or so.
One of the first things I did when I got up was to look out our window and take in the gorgeous view we had. To my surprise there was a hot air balloon floating by in the distance. It appeared to be over in the Epcot area as it looked to be floating toward the Swan & Dolphin Hotel. I ran to get my camera to snap a picture. Of course by the time I got it ready, the balloon was just in front of the hotel so it is not as clear as it had been, but you can see it:
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Disney%20Trip%2012-08/IMG_0404.jpg
Melissa arrived just before Ana and her assistant, Mirabel. My mom and her boyfriend also showed up at the same time as Ana. We were not expecting my mom and Jim, but I think they wanted to stop by on their way back from breakfast. Ana and Mirabel quickly took over the space around the table, the room quickly felt very crowded and before long my mom and Jim worked out their time table for the day with John then headed back to their room.
Since the wedding was a surprise I had not planned on having my mom with us to get ready. I figured she’d want to stay with Jim for the afternoon as he can’t really get around on his own. We did give them the important assignment of getting John to the Swan when it was time and hanging out with him until the ceremony. If my mom had asked to stay with me and my sister, we would have rearranged the plans, but I think she was excited with her task at hand and was looking forward to being surprised.
Ana put curlers in my hair and then had Mirabel get started on my make up. Ana then got to work on Melissa’s hair. We let John hang out with us for a while but made sure he knew that he had to leave before the dress arrived.
Mirabel convinced me to go with some false eyelashes. I had always wanted to try them but was scared they would bother me. My wedding day was probably not the best day to take the risk and try, but I did. When she first put them on, I panicked because they felt very heavy and I thought I would have to take them off. But once the adhesive dried, they were fine and I thought they looked great. She ended up using a lot of bronzer on me, a lot. I wish I didn’t have so much on. I didn’t really like how it looked. I honestly thought I looked like a dead person all made up pretty for her wake. My eyes were great and the coloring of the rest of my make up was nice, but that bronzer was just a bit much for me. I was hoping that it would not be so noticeable in the pictures, but I do see it in quite a few of them.
Melissa and I switched off with Ana and Mirabel. I was aggravated with myself because I forgot to print out pictures of the hair styles I picked. I had done my research and even found a few hair pictures that Ana had done, but I totally dropped the ball and forgot to print and bring them with me. I had to describe what I wanted. She did a nice job and was very insistent that I be honest with her and not be afraid to tell her anything I did not like. I did have her fix up the back a little as I didn’t think the up-do part looked all that curly – I thought it looked kind of messy. She fixed it up and put in the veil.
In the end I was happy with the girls. They did a beautiful job with Melissa and a nice job on me. They made us feel very comfortable. They did quality work. Our hair and make up lasted all day and all night. I was mostly disappointed with myself for not doing a little more research on the bronzer or to look in a mirror while Mirabel was applying the make up to stop her when I realized that I did not like so much bronzer. And I was disappointed that I forgot my hair pictures. Ana did a nice job with the over all style, but I wanted more of a design with the up-do part in the back, and the front a little more evened out (my hair went off to the side – which I wanted – but the short side kind of went straight back, and the long side went down and back). It was kind of weird. But like I said, I was still happy – I looked finished, I looked like a bride, I looked close to my vision and I was enjoying myself. I was not going to sweat the small stuff!
As for a vendor review (I will go back and summarize my vendor reviews if I ever finish this thing), I would give Beaute Speciale a B+. I’m not going to give anyone A+++++++++++, etc. I want to be more realistic and helpful to any future brides out there. I thought they were professional, experienced and offer a very convenient service. They fill you up with extra lip gloss, make you water proof, and make sure you have plenty of hair spray. I would definitely recommend them.

So, it might appear somewhere else in your report, but was the makeup with Ana from Beaute Special? I agree, it is definitely helpful to have a completely honest review because after all everyone can't be an A+++++

Hi Vanessa! Yes, the hot air balloon was really cool - especially that it was the morning of the wedding.
And yes, we used Beaute Speciale. I went back and clarified that in my post. I'm glad you like my grading system. I think for those of us who come home and have a wonderful experience are just so excited and get carried away in our reviews. I'm trying to step back a little and be honest/realistic.

Time really flew by once Ana and Mirabel got to the room. Before I knew it, John had left, the gown was delivered and Randy arrived. For the most part it was all very exciting.
The only crazy part was when poor John got to the Swan. He really wasn’t sure where to go. Susan had called us earlier that morning to let us know the name of the room that would be available to us should we choose to get ready there. I thought this was a nice option, however it would have been next to impossible for me to get ready there with such last minute notice as to which room it would be. How would I have worked that out with my other vendors? In any case, John called me wondering where to go. I gave him Susan’s cell phone number. Not long after that he called again. Where was the license to marry? I had sent him away with his tux and the wedding favors. I never even thought to give him the license. I had that packed safely in my bag that was coming with me. Poor guy, he was getting a little anxious with all the questions coming at him and I was getting a little frustrated, but I took a breath and appreciated the commotion and nerves of the day. I apologized and told John that I never even thought to give it to him and that I definitely had it and would make sure not to forget it.
Randy started taking pictures almost immediately upon arriving. He is just so laid back and you don’t even realize that he is busy at work.
Showing Melissa how to bustle the dress:

My ballet slippers with necklace and earrings:
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Wedding%20Album/LJ0066312-9-08.jpg
After a few touch ups by Ana and Mirabel, they were packed up and on their way. Randy was hanging my dress here and there, checking everything out and snapping away. He then said that he’d be stepping outside so we could dress and to let him know when we were done.
He had asked me what time the limo was coming. I said to him in kind of a sad voice that we did not have a limo. He said to me in a very encouraging voice, “great, then you are working on your own time and not someone else’s.” He is awesome – that was the perfect thing to say and really made me smile. I hadn’t felt funny or regretted not hiring a limo until the moment he asked me when it was coming. He won me over for the rest of the day at that moment.
Before we sent Randy out, I gave Melissa a few gifts I had for her. I had a birthday present for her, a gift card to Chili’s (one of her favorite places), a snowflake necklace for her to wear with her dress, a pink pashmina (not a real one LOL) for her shoulders in case it got chili out, and her invitation.
It did not take Melissa and me too long to get dressed. The most difficult task was hooking up those crazy bras we got from David’s Bridal. Once we were all set, we let Randy back in the room. He took a few pictures of us in the room and then he took me outside for some shots while Melissa finished getting ready. Some of my favorite shots were taken here. I had so much fun working with him (have I said that yet?). I was already having a blast and we weren’t even at the wedding yet.

Getting to the Swan was kind of funny. I had no problem getting into Melissa’s car (she was driving) since she has a big one – a grand marquis. But once we pulled into the driveway we kind of slowed down and ducked a little. I was like “stop”. It’s not that I wanted to stop the wedding or anything, it’s just that all of John’s family was crossing the street to get into the Swan and I did not want them to see us. So we sort of creeped along in the car then pulled off into the parking lot once they were out of sight. The parking lot there is pretty big and we could not find a spot to close. So there I went tip-toeing across the parking lot in my gown. I was trying to keep my ballet slippers from getting filthy or greasy. But we could not stop laughing as we figured we looked like a sight running through the parking lot all dressed up and carrying extra bags of stuff. Definitely not the princess bride story here.
When we got up to the entrance I could not resist but to go over to the valet attendant and say to him, “I’m kind of lost, I’m here for a wedding.” He cracked up with us, along with a few people who overheard. I seriously had no idea where to go and he said he saw some people straight ahead inside.
When we got into the hotel I stayed back behind poles and things as Melissa would go forward to make sure the coast was clear. We did not want to run into our guests and we especially did not want to run into John. I could not stop laughing as I would duck into a doorway or behind another pole and then Melissa would say “ok”. And then we finally arrived at a little foyer area where Rev Tim was sitting with Randy. Randy told us we were safe to come over and that everyone was outside.
Reverend Tim told me that he already met with John and that he had some questions for me. We spoke for a few moments and I gave him the license. He told me that according to everyone he’d already spoken to “this wedding has been a long time coming.” Oh Reverend Tim, you can say that again.
After a few minutes, Susan Southerland came inside with her assistant (I cannot remember her name) and Tom from the Swan and Dolphin. This was the first time I met her in person. She gave us our flowers (loved them) and told us how things were going to happen. She said she was waiting for the last possible minute to put the rose petals down since it was breezy out there and she didn’t want them all to blow away. I had only ordered 2 dozen petals (I just wanted a dusting) so I needed all the petals to stay put. Susan was so nice and friendly and seemed to be truly excited for us.
Randy took a few more pictures of Melissa and I inside. And then off we went to get married!
Here is a shot of Reverend Tim with John before Melissa & I arrived:

You crack me up with hiding behind the walls and running through parking lots! :rotfl:
I was nervous about running into DH too. We were moving over to our changing room at the Swan and carrying the dresses over from the Dolphin. I already had hair and makeup done but not my dress on. DH was coming back from an afternoon and the ESPN Club with his BM. We ran smack into them on the escalators!! I saw DH and screamed and ran away. It was right by that little bar area. All the people laughed and told DH to hide. I ran by and they ended up buying DH a beer cause they thought it was funny :) We don't have good timing!

Hi Jenn! I'm glad that I can help. I am limited for time that is why there is some delay between posts, but I am going to keep working on it. I figure some of my experiences can help someone out in the future. Congratulations on your wedding! October will be here before you know it!
As for Tom, yes he is the catering manager. To be honest, I met him very quickly and it was just before the ceremony so I was getting nervous and excited. I didn't get a chance to speak with him much - I didn't even realize he would be there as we didn't have anything to cater :rotfl: ...we just had cake, cider and some water at the ceremony... But the few minutes he was there he seemed very nice.

That is too funny! :rotfl: These stories we have are priceless. I seriously could not stop laughing as we ran across the parking lot. I must have been bouncing around because I was on my tippy toes. We will enjoy these memories for a long time to come...
Thanks for hanging in there with me. There will be more to come very soon...

Randy is so awesome, isn't he :goodvibes I love the ballet slippers; I was planning to wear them but after a car accident I was in the summer before our wedding, my back couldn't handle them anymore. I did have my flowergirl wear some though. I love the shots of you and your sister at Coronado; it looks like you were having a lot of fun. The comment to the valet really made me laugh, sounds like you have a great sense of humor :rotfl:

For anyone who's been following along - sorry for the extended delay. I've been super busy with life - oh yeah, my at home reception, too LOL and had to let some stuff go for a little while. I don't know how many of you were following along, but I am determined to get this thing finished for anyone who was and for any future or potential Swan brides out there. (Sorry that my pictures are so big).
WEDDING DAY Part 3
Once Randy was all set taking shots of Melissa and I in the lobby of the Swan, it was time to get married. Susan came over to ask us if we were ready. I was so excited. We walked outside and around the corner. It was such a lovely day out there.
Melissa began her walk down the walkway as the harpist played “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.”

When Susan gave me the signal I began my walk to “When You Wish Upon A Star”. The music was absolutely beautiful. I am so glad that we chose a harpist as it was very romantic.

As planned, when John saw me coming (he was standing under the arch next to Reverend Tim) he began walking towards me.

We met about half way where he took my arm and we walked the rest of the way together. I was so happy. I had waited for this moment for so long and it all felt so right. I made sure to really take it all in.

A few of our guests sort of followed a bit behind John to take pictures, which felt a little weird for a moment, but they went right back to their seats. And then my crazy mother had to make a comment about it being ‘about time’ and she thought she was going to have to ‘get the chains’. Everyone laughed. I wish she didn’t say anything. We are very laid back people and really wanted something fun – but I wanted this part to be romantic and dreamy…no comments from the peanut gallery, mom! It was ok though.
Reverend Tim was amazing. The more he spoke, the more I truly thought that he was inside John’s head saying everything that John feels. It was seriously like he was reading John’s mind. One regret I have is that we did not video tape the ceremony. I would love to go back and hear our ceremony and vows again. The whole thing was so romantic and touching. I’ve even considered getting in touch with Rev Tim to see if he has a copy of our vows, I would love to have them as a keepsake.
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Wedding%20Album/LJ0125512-9-08.jpg
During the ceremony I noticed how the arch was decorated. I had requested just a fabric swag with no flower arrangements. I had also sent a couple of boxes of pink and pearly white Christmas ornaments to Susan for her to use with the décor as she saw fit. She ended up bunching them up and tying them around the arch. Two sets actually looked like Mickey heads – I’m not sure if that was done intentionally or not, but I like to think it was as Mickey heads were incorporated into our theme. In any case I thought the arch looked great.
Also during the ceremony a couple of ferries (the ones that go between Hollywood Studios, the resorts and Epcot) blew their horns for us. We thought that was very cool. During the exchanging of the rings, poor John had a hard time getting my rings on. Rev Tim had taken both my band and my diamond and handed them to John together. The problem is, they will not slide on my finger together. He tried but I ended up having to help him. We giggled a little about this.
http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r419/xmaspixie1209/Wedding%20Album/LJ0131312-9-08.jpg
Rev Tim finally pronounced us husband and wife and told us to kiss. I guess we didn’t kiss good enough because he then instructed John to hold onto his wife and kiss her “like you mean it”. It was cute. The whole thing was just so romantic, special and moving.

I am so glad that I found Reverend Tim. I learned so much about him from past Disney Brides. And a friend of mine (another Disbride) who also had her wedding at the Swan (and did not have such a great experience) used Rev Tim. He saved the day for her. When I learned that I just had to have him. He absolutely added to the magic of our day. I give him an A+.

After the ceremony, Susan (and Randy) were great at keeping things organized (thank goodness as I would not have known what to do and when). Susan suggested we take a few minutes to mingle with our guests. There were lots of hugs, kisses and tears. Then they wheeled the cake into the area and we did our toast and cut the cake. Fortunately, Reverend Tim (again – awesome) thought to ask John if we had anyone to do the toast. He did not have a best man and we never thought to ask anyone to do the toast – though I am sure his brother would have done it without question. But Rev Tim came over with us and said (closely quoted) “May your marriage last as long as Mickey and Minnie’s and may you have as much money as they do”. It was great.

I just loved our little cake. It was adorable and delicious! I cannot seem to find a good color picture of it, so here it is in black and white…

Then we did our first dance to Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight” (played by the harpist of course).

After our dance we did a bunch of pictures with everyone. We did a group picture:

After the pictures John & I passed out our favors and wrist bands for the dessert party. We told everyone to go have a great time in Epcot and that we’d catch up with them later. Melissa and Bryan stayed with Susan to collect our things and John and I made our way to the Boardwalk with Randy to take pictures.

Some things to note – throughout the socializing, cake cutting and picture taking the harpist played continuously. She played mostly Disney music and mixed in some Christmas songs. She was great. If any of you future brides has the chance to book a harpist for your event I highly recommend one. The music is very recognizable as you do not just get the melody or the harmony with this instrument, you get both. The music was also not intrusive at all, she sat right in the middle of us all yet it was like a background theme track. And it was so romantic and beautiful.
Also to note – I really enjoyed working with Susan from JustMarry. I had my doubts because of other stories I’ve read about, but I had nothing but success with her. She did a wonderful job with the decorations I sent down and really captured my vision with the things I requested. She always got back to me within a reasonable amount of time with answers to my questions and concerns. We had a lovely day and a wonderful time. I rate JustMarry with an A.

:bride: Everything looks like it turned out so beautiful! I love the expression when John comes to meet you in the aisle. I'm sure Rev. Tim would email you a copy of your vows, that is definitely something that you will want for a keepsake.
I don't seem to remember, what were your favors? I love the bags they are inside :goodvibes
I was sad to hear that you were disappointed about not getting a video. Its strange how some things that seem so insignificant during our planning are so important when we look back on our memories.
