Wow! I log on today at 7pm and have pages and pages to read since yesterday!!! First off, MAGGIED, I used to live in Central NY! I've been over here in Buffalo for 13 years now. My extended family still lives in CNY and I miss them.

QOTD- This will be my 8th trip to WDW; DH's 3rd trip; DD's 2nd trip.
My most memorable trip was in 1992. My family won an all expenses paid trip to WDW off a 2-liter bottle of Coke. That's right. People really do win those prizes. We stayed at the Contemporary and had free food vouchers. We ate dinner the first night at Narcoosee's (sp) and we ate until we couldn't eat anymore!

What I'm most looking foward to on this trip:

1. Surprising DD with the trip; I can't wait to see her reaction!
2. Eating at some new places- Crystal Palace, Akershus, Hollywood & Vine (my family was never a TS kind of family)
3. Seeing Fantasmic- nope, never seen it
4. Going to AK-can you believe I've never been there!
5. DH's and DD's first trip to Epcot and DD's first trip to DHS- we only did MK on our trip two years ago. I haven't been to Epcot in 11 years!!!!
6. Riding RNRC and TofT- last time at DHS I was pregnant with DD

I too am thinking of making a PTR. I will wait a few more months until I start because I don't know how interesting I could make my posts. Let me just say that I love this thread so much. I really hope to meet up with some fellow Snowbirds on this trip (Jan24-31)! You all feel like my big extended Disney fam!

I suppose it is time for me to join y'all. Considering I've been planning my January trip for almost a year now. Wow... really... almost a year. (I started planning the Disneymoon before I started planning the wedding...well...."officially") I think I've been subscribed for a while, but I don't think I've ever posted.

First of all, I will be Disneymooning it from Jan 4-Jan 13
Second, I will be at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (unless of course there's an offer I can't refuse)
Third, my ADRs are as follows
1/4: Jikos 7:05PM
1/5: Coral Reef 12:30PM
1/6: CRT 5:20PM
1/7: Sci-Fi Dine In 12:30PM
1/8: Le Cellier 7:55PM
1/9: Tusker House 10:30AM
1/10: Ohanas 10:55AM
1/11: 1900 Park Fare 7PM
1/12: 50s Prime Time 12:30PM
1/13: Bomas 8:55AM

Wow... I think I'm going to have all my ADRs memorized by the time I go. I think that'll freak my fiance out a little...

I'm considering starting a PTR... though, the wedding planning might get in the way of it.

I've been to Disney two times, plus however many times my Mom took me there when we lived in Florida for nine months. So I'd estimate at least a dozen.
However, this will be the first trip for my fiance. He's REALLY excited.

BTW, is there any identifying symbol for Snowbirds other than the LGMH?

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I hope you have a great Disneymoon!!

Btw may I ask from where in Kansas you reside!! I grew up in Junction City (which is right next to Ft. Riley which is right next door to Manhattan)

Oooohhh, good idea Pluto!

Before anyone else gets a stab, I say Saturday, the 27th. What should we give the snowbird who is right? Oh, I know - a party!!!!

OH! A PARTY!! Please do NOT invite Disco Dale.

I have to admit that I'm a bit nervous about all of these posts. I'm toward the bottom of the top ten list and there are lots of people trying to squeeze me out AND I have to work for the next three days. I'm going to have to put a lot of time in after work to keep up.

So . . . how's it going?

Had a busy day today. I visited the local Target, Walmart and Toys R Us looking for the newest Pixar Cars. Does anyone have boys or girls who are into these things? I have to admit - I love the hunt. It makes me insane until I get my hands on the new ones.

I have another reason to party, as if we needed one. My DH just got a promotion!!:cool1: :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2: We are sitting down to celebrate with a lovely glass of wine!

Did you seriously think I went through and counted everybody's posts??????? :crazy2: :faint: :rotfl:

No, I knew the DIS kept track, I read it on another thread many moons ago. It was just a funny mental picture for me, thinking of you with your hair up in a bun, a bunch of extra pencils stuck in it, and sheets of paper flying everywhere!

You didn't seriously think that I thought you went through and counted everybody's posts, did you?

I was taking pictures of Belle tonight and thought I would try to snap a few of the old pictures I am currently unable to scan. (Grrrr....:headache:)

My first trip to Disney with my sisters.

Audrina (12), Evie (11) and Me (14)
Can you say akward phase? Oh my! (Oh, and by the way - Audri and I are wearing Jellies(shoes)! Do you remember those?)

Second Trip to Disney. My Senior Trip.

Oh, I'm 17 here. By this time I had been introduced into the wonderful world of hair care products and highlights. Thank goodness!!!!:wizard:

And here's the cute picture I took of Belle. She was feeding herself pasta and made the biggest mess. She saw this picture and said, "Uh oh."

Awe, Mindy! You've got such handsome men in your life. :cutie: I know you must enjoy them so much! I would love to have a little man of my own. Although, being raised around all girls, I'm not sure what I would do with one.:confused3

Thank you! I think they are handsome. I'd love to have a little girl to dress up, but it's not in the cards.

You're Belle is precious, too. My best friend has a new little one that they named Isabella, but call her Bella. It would have been my choice for a name had Rylan been a littel girl.

My son is turning 5 this Oct. and he LOVES cars. His room is Cars, his cloths are cars (underwear, shirts, pants, swimming trunks & socks) We went out tonight and bought all his birthday supplies (Cars AGAIN third year in a row - should have saved the stuff for past years) We went to our local $1 store and they had so much Disney stuff...insane. The newest thing my son had to get was Cars sandwich bags ($1 for 20 - pretty good)

I got a lot of stuff for stockings & little presents while we are at WDW. It was fun. :goodvibes

You're little guy DOES love Cars! My DS really just loves the diecast cars. His second birthday party was done in Cars, though.

We are hoping to see Mater and McQueen when we are down in January.

QOTD: I have been 11 times (3 with my family as a kid) and my dh and boys have been 8 times. My dd wasn't here for our family's first 3 trips so she's at #5. So in Jan it'll be: me- 12, Hubby and boys-9 and dd--6.

wow!! We are racking up!!!

Mater & McQueen are the only reason we are going to DHS. Originally we were going to skip this park until I found out about the meet & greet. Now that is a MUST do!

My wedding is January 2nd - not Disney themed, but the Bridal Shower probably will be.

Shelly... or anyone else familiar with CBR.... I have paid for a preferred room ... can you tell me where they are on the bus route... are they first to be picked up... last... I just finished reading some other posts and seems lots of folks complain about the transportation at this resort... I didn't mind paying extra for the preferred room to be close to the pool and the food court.... just curious about the transporation as I have never even stopped by to visit this resort.... thanks

Welcome to the Snowbirds. We are a bit looney, but we love to PARTY! FYI - we kind of use the Dancing Banana as a symbol (that's way back from July, I think).

Maybe we can get a banana yellow Mickey Head from Home Depot as our special Snowbird DIS symbol, along with the LGMHs. We should probably do something to find each other when we're there. Seems pretty likely that we would run into each other.

Oh, and Becca - your Disneymoon. If I remember way back when, I don't think I'd be interested in eating out every night! Maybe a few room service dinners ;) Congratulations.

Well, I'm seriously considering writing a trip report. I love to write, I'm obsessed with my Disney trip, and I enjoy a flare for the humorous/sarcastic! I shall consider and decide by tonight if I have the time to do it...but I am enjoying reading yours!:thumbsup2

I know! Pretty soon the list of Snowbirds, plus the Dining Post will be a full page and we'll never be able to post anything :sad2:

Shelly, when you start the second thread, do you want to think about just editing the list at the beginning whenever someone new joins? That could save you some time, too. But, then again, it is fun to see the list posted with additions. You see, I work in an office, so I'm always looking for the most efficient way to do things. If you edit the post, you're doing less work. That would leave you more time to ..... PARTY!

Actually when I post the lists each one is still only one post and every page has 15 posts, no matter how long they are. Does that make sense??? It is time consuming though. I was posting it every 3-4 pages (back when it was manageable!), then went to every 5 pages, and now it's more like every 10-12 pages!
Shelly..... can I get on the list of those going in January.... please:worship: .... pretty please....:worship:

I'm so sorry I must have missed you somehow. Please forgive me! :flower3: What are your dates and where are you staying?

So I guess I just answered my own question. . . You are staying at CBR!

Well we never had any bus issues when we stayed there. A lot of the resorts are getting complaints about the buses lately. :confused3 I sure hope it will get taken care of soon and that Disney is not cutting back on the buses because of gas.

Anyway, if you are staying in a preferred room you will either get Martinique or Trinidad North. CBR buses are like this - The MK & DTD buses start at Martinique and continue around the lake clockwise (so Mart. would be first, OPR second, Trin.N. third, so on). The DHS, Epcot, & AK buses start at Jamaica and continue clockwise around the lake. Hope that helps! Let me know if you need anymore CBR info.

Alright, ladies. I've got a question. How many of you have used Tourguide Mike and/or the Unofficial Guide. Cause I'm using both for planning, and they don't always agree 100%.

I would love to hear some real life feedback. If you used either one, share in what ways it helped or hindered your trip. Peach3es--I've asked a few people this very same question and their consensus was that they liked UG better. It will be interesting to hear what people here have to say! Did you sign up for UG at their website? I did and they have lots more touring plans and their reasoning behind them. I think it's only 7 or 8 dollars for a year. I'm glad I did it.

Oh, we are definitely the cool people. :cool1: :lmao:

You can share your ADRs if you like. It's fun seeing if we're dining together at the time and place!

Fun idea!

Here's ours:

January 10th: Wolfgang Puck Cafe, 6:30 p.m.
January 11th: Chef Mickey's (DS's birthday dinner), 6:30 p.m.
January 12th: Tutto Italia, 6:30 p.m.
January 13th: Boma, 7 p.m.
January 14th: Ohana's, 10:15 a.m.
January 15th: Sci-Fi Dine In, 5 p.m.
January 16th......we go home

Today's dilemma that DH and I are struggling with.....the budgeting has gone much better than planned :cheer2: and we can now afford to stay at AKL or WL. Is is worth the extra $$'s from POR :confused3 ? Any wise words from the rest of you Snowbirds is much appreciated!!!!

I need your expert advice! I just realized a bit of a conundrum in my planning! On our third day at Disney, I had originally scheduled us to do Am EMH @MK, take a break and then head back to MK for Spectro after having supper @ O'hana.

Here is the problem - For the last little bit, I thought that Spectro was at 8! :scared1: It's not - it's at 7! Our ADR @ O'Hana is for 530pm THAT IS NOT ENOUGH TIME! HELP! Do you think that moving the ADR to 5 would give us enough time or should I try to move the ADR to a different day? :confused3 The only available days I have are our arrival day (we arrive @ MCO @ 11:20am) and our "No PArk" day on the 25th.

I would either move the ADR to 4:30, or I'd change the day. Don't forget that you can't walk up to the parade route at 6:50 and expect to see things well. I'm not sure how crowded January gets, but according to most of the reports I've read, you'll need some extra time to get lined up.

Agreed. Here's an idea if you're rushed. Take the monorail over, jump on the train and exit at Frontierland and watch the parade up there. There's always better places to stand up there. Then you can walk toward the castle if you want to see the fireworks.

Actually when I post the lists each one is still only one post and every page has 15 posts, no matter how long they are. Does that make sense??? It is time consuming though. I was posting it every 3-4 pages (back when it was manageable!), then went to every 5 pages, and now it's more like every 10-12 pages!

This is the official Snowbird symbol --> :cool1: Because we are so cool!! :rotfl:

I have not used TGM, but I have used the UG and I did like it! I also have used the Passporter(love, love, love it) and the Birnbaum's guides. This one has a kid version that your little kiddos might like!! But for planning the passporter and UG are probably the best.

Good Morning Snowbirds:goodvibes

Alright, ladies. I've got a question. How many of you have used Tourguide Mike and/or the Unofficial Guide. Cause I'm using both for planning, and they don't always agree 100%.

I would love to hear some real life feedback. If you used either one, share in what ways it helped or hindered your trip. If you used both, I'd LOVE to hear how they compare and which one you would recommend! I might even head venture off our little thread and start a thread on the trip planning board to see if others have an opinion on this. I love TourGuide Mike. But Unofficial Guide is awesome too. See my dilemma? :rotfl:

I have used Tour Guide Mike twice in the past and never had to wait hardly at all for the rides, but like you I found out about UG so I'm using both and like you a lot of the information doesn't agree. I guess my biggest question would be parks to visit on certain days?? To me that is the most important piece of information.

I have noticed the park plans are simpler to use with UG and they do offer a lot more in terms of variety. But I really like that TGM really explains why he does things the way he does it helps me to understand the better ways to tour.

So after all that I really didn't answer your question and wasn't of much help I'm sorry :confused3 I'm in the same boat as you and I'm on information overload.

I ran into this same problem. So I just made my ADR that day for lunch. Then we can just grab something quick (CS) for dinner right before we want to get a spot for Spectro! I'm not sure what to expect in January, but when we were there in May we went to MK 1 1/2 hours before Spectro and there wasn't a spot to be found. So needless to say, we STILL have not seen Spectro!

Good morning all!

QOTD - I use the UG. I signed up for Mike this time, but then was bummed because some of the info seemed out of date (I was looking for info on the Wave, the new restaurant in the Contemporary), so I got a refund. I've heard good things though - although people have also said the site is confusing and strangely organized:confused3 . The UG worked well for us last February, so we're going with it again...

People on other boards have been talking about long delays at resorts and other delays with the buses (of course that is what I get from venturing out of our precious Snowbird thread) and as a paranoid person I'm of course probably making a bigger deal out of this than necessary.

I in no means want to start a panic, I'm just wondering if having my own vehicle if I should just go ahead and drive myself around???

do you know you can call and get more of those little folder/daily pockets? I ordered mine a while back. I have more need of that than the entire book, so I am just gonna take out the ones from last trip and put those in for my next trip. I think they were like $6 or so. We stayed at POR on our Honeymoon. (French Quarter side.) It was lovely! Very quiet, small and quaint. This time we are staying at WL. I'm not sure I would choose POR over WL/AKL if I were staying on the Riverside. It is very nice, but that just my opinion, as I live in the south and it is not appealing to me because I see it all the time. The reason we liked POFQ is because of it's size. It was a short walk to everything (food court, pool, bus).

I am dying to stay at AKL, but my only hesitation is that it is so far removed from everything.

Regarding Extra Magic Hours- Our last three trips have all been in January and EMHs have been nothing but the cats meow:thumbsup2. Morning EMH have been a bit more crowded than evening but still no where near peak season. Mornings we can hit two or three attractions in that hour with little or no wait. And evenings, we have hit five attractions in an hour (not too bad considering our little ones can only go so fast). We go towards the end of January so it may be different earlier in the month:confused3. But if some people avoid them, great! Less people in the parks for us!;)

We're still debating if we want to do the DDP this time because we already have our list of favorite return places including Coral Reef, Ohana's, Boma, Tusker House, Chef Mickey's, Cape May Cafe and really want to go to Le Cellier.

I'm only starting the countdown when we hit double digits. :rolleyes1

When we return "home", DH is turning 29 again (with 12 yrs experience  )

Ooops, I’ll review both the Guide & Tourguide Mike etc. and come up with a mix that works well for my family because DH always reminds me “I’m on holidays remember not WDW bootcamp”

Has anyone seen a CODE yet?

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I hope you have a great Disneymoon!!

Btw may I ask from where in Kansas you reside!! I grew up in Junction City (which is right next to Ft. Riley which is right next door to Manhattan)

Thanks! I sure we'll have an amazing time.
I currently reside in Manhattan, so I definitely know where Junction is. My fiance and I are at K-State right now. He's in ROTC majoring in Criminology and I'm majoring in Sociology.
I spent most of my childhood in Olathe though (that's Johnson County)

Congrats on the wedding..... it must be so much fun planning.....I love weddings.... my DD says she wants to get married at Sunset Point at the POLY.... guess she better find some new parents to pay for that one....;)

Haha... yup. I threw out the idea of doing a destination Disney wedding, but reconsidered when I saw my budget, and my mom told me I can keep whatever is leftover. It was either everybody enjoys Disney with me, or I get an AWESOME trip with just me and my new hubby. Just tell your daughter to marry rich... to someone whose parents LOVE Disney.

Haha... I premeditated that problem, which is why I only have 4 dinners, and none of my breakfasts are early. I was considering the Deluxe DDP, but then I realized we would most likely never make it that far.

Just wanted to let you know I get a real kick reading your posts. I think it must be all the COOL people :cool1: that are going to WDW in January ! You all have such a fantastic sense of humour.:thumbsup2

Just a question for anyone who wants to answer.....are we supposed to be posting our ADR's? I've seen a few and wondered if I missed that step in the initiation process......:upsidedow

It's definitely all the cool people that are going in January, and we get to be funny, because we're paying less for smaller crowds. Muhahaha!:cool1:

Alright, ladies. I've got a question. How many of you have used Tourguide Mike and/or the Unofficial Guide. Cause I'm using both for planning, and they don't always agree 100%.

I would love to hear some real life feedback. If you used either one, share in what ways it helped or hindered your trip. If you used both, I'd LOVE to hear how they compare and which one you would recommend! I might even head venture off our little thread and start a thread on the trip planning board to see if others have an opinion on this. I love TourGuide Mike. But Unofficial Guide is awesome too. See my dilemma? :rotfl:

I purchased a subscription to UG. I haven't tested it out yet, but I find it promising. Really, I just like the idea of having a plan. I by no means plan to adhere to it 100% though. I'm planning on a little wind travel, otherwise I think I'll drive my boy crrrazy.

What about nuts??? Is there a little nut smiley guy?

:squirrel: This was the best I could do...see him there in the cute little squirrel's hands?

Does anyone know who's in charge of the smileys from which we get to choose? Wow, that sentence is proper grammar, but it sure makes me sound like a snob! :snooty:

Squirrels sound good.

I have my Bachelors in Biological Science (emphaisis on Animal physiology) and am 6 grad credits away from my MST which is the equivalent of being able to teach Science in a post secondary institution. I'm currently taking a epidemiology class (study of infectious diseases) and I love it!! But I could go on for hours on my love of Science.

I teach 5 sections of high school Biology and 1 section of Dual Enrollment Biology/Zoology for a local public junior college.

Wow... Science people amaze me. It's the one subject that goes over my head. I am however taking a Biology class at the moment and got 100% on my first test. I was VERY proud of myself.

On a completely different and terribly sad note, Scot, my dh, just witnessed a pedestrian being struck by an SUV near the Old City of Jerusalem. Mass chaos broke out as people tried to flee the scene due to the awful accident that happened the other night. Scot said he never saw a body so mangled. :sad1: The woman was still moving...

Scot came home from his meeting completely shaken up. He said he didn't understand why because he worked in a max security PA state prison and saw lots of violence. But he just said it was awful.

Praying that the woman and the driver are okay. It was a UN car...and praying that all the witnesses can forget what they saw.:sad2:

These are a few pictures I have access too.

This is me, two of my younger brothers, and my younger sister at the Garden Grill during our last trip. (and of course Pluto but y'all recognize him)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/moremengrl86/Disney/kids1.jpg

This is me and my youngest brother Adam waiting in line for Expedition Everest. Yes, I have a book, and I still have not finished it almost 2 years later. (it's really hard to pay attention to reading when Disney is going on around you) I dragged poor Adam on that ride with me. He survived, but I don't think he would ride it again.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/moremengrl86/Disney/becca.jpg

I have a couple more, but they're mostly of the same people. I'll try to upload some older photos from earlier trips later.

That's so horrible. While we were in Prague my fiance saw someone after they had gotten hit by a tram. I am just happy I wasn't with him at the time, because I don't think I could have handled it. I hope the woman and the driver are ok as well.

Did you ever go downstairs in the Vet/Med building? They have old surgical tools down there, it's creepy.

The campus isn't as pretty as it used to be. I don't know if you heard about the tornado that came through a few months ago. It annihilated a lot of the beautiful trees. All the gorgeous oak trees behind Waters and Cardwell are gone. It did some damage to some buildings as well. We still have construction crews repairing the damage.

I would normally say AKL is well worth the extra money if you can afford it, however the sunset savannahs is closed from Jan. 15th to April 15th.
If you can get a room on one other savannahs it is totally worth the money!:thumbsup2:
POR is a beautiful resort, but AKL is on a whole new level of awesome! I would also say if you don't plan on being in the hotel much, it may not be worth the money b/c AKL is an attraction in itself.

I'm actually considering POFQ for my next trip to Disney (yes I said next trip)! I hoping to go the first week of December so I can see the world at Christmas. This time I think I might bring my mom along..although after looking at the Wilderness Lodge site it might be time to splurge!!

Soleil, I want to see a ton of pics when you get back so I can make this tough decision!!! LOL!!!:rotfl:

Hi Jen,

I think POFQ is a beautiful resort - we stayed there LOTS of times. It's very lush and compact. It only has one pool, but if you go in December, then it won't matter much, since I'm guessing you would use a lot of down time to tour other resorts. The WL looks fantastic for a Christmas decoration stay!

Hey Sharon, a question for you! It seems to me that since you have been there so many times, you are the person to ask!

We will be arriving @ MCO around 11:20 am. I figure we should definitely be at POFQ before 1pm. How likely is it that there will be a room ready for us? I have made no room requests so I am hoping that should improve our chances. What do you think? What were your check in experiences like? :)

I guess its off to Home Depot then!!! Creative ways to use them...hmmm maybe in my scrapbook. I have decided the theme for my next scrapbook and yes I said theme LOL will be hidden Mickeys. When it comes to scrapbooking I'm the biggest nerd of all. First Disney Scrapbook was Gameboard themed and let me tell you one Gone With the Wind Movie later I had my EPCOT Monopoly board made and was about ready to give up. Then decided it would be fun to make Scrabble the theme of Magic Kingdom. Needless to say, it took almost a year and half to finish that book LOL!!

Now I'm going with a hidden mickey theme where I will hide a Mickey on each page and include photos. I think I will dedicate a page to the LGMH and see who I can find at Disney who's a DISser!! YAY for scrapbook ideas!!

Hey Kim,

I know you asked Sharon, but I wanted to tell you that we went to WDW in Feb 07 we stayed at POFQ and the room was ready upon check-in which was around 11am. In fact we headed down to get lunch and then we were going to go to the parks and worry about luggage later. Well one of us forgot something so we went back to our rooms and our luggage was there already. I was most impressed with ME. I am sure it has a lot to do with it being low crowds. We are hoping for the same this time!! And I hope for you as well!

You ladies are impossible to keep up with, by the way! But I do enjoy reading it.

So anyway snowbirds I have two ideas for our thread that will be starting tomorrow! Since we have a list of ADR's and people I thought it would be fun to have a picture list and a where are you going list. So we can see who will be in what parks on what days and what our fellow snowbirds look like. They could be in the beginning of the thread and be edited when people change plans or join. So what do you all think of this idea??

Peach3s- We will be praying for Scot. You can't imagine how traumatic it is to see something like that until it happens to you. I saw a guy get hit at a red light once and fly out of his door. Talk about freak you out!!! I still feel sick when I think about it.

Mama of Triplets~Welcome!!:wizard: :cheer2: We are sooo glad you are joining our little cult!! I mean group, yeah, group!!! Really- it's so fun you just have to keep coming back all day!! And if you don't, you get waaaaayyyy behind!!! Jan is great! We went last Jan as well and that made us think we had to do it again this year!!So, we are there almost the same dates as you--the 24th to the 1st!! If I see a mama with triplets I am gonna introduce myself!!!! By the time you and I go, most of the Snowbirds here will have already gone---there aren't as many of us going at the end of the month, I don't think. I will have to look back at Shelly's list.

GREAT IDEA!!!! :)

Okay on a more serious note (yes this coming from me I know is hard to believe), but is it hard to get one a photobucket account! I'm going to need some serious help if I'm going to get pictures on here.

I also feel the need to say that I really do teach in my classroom LOL I just have two breaks during the day so I maximize my postings LOL!!

And just to completely throw myself off into the looney bin...my kids know about my trip so we made a countdown calender in my room and everyday I give a fun tidbit about Disney. My seniors who are going there for their (trixie look I used the right there's) senior trip love it!! So I'm the Biology Teacher who loves Disney at my High School and EVERYONE knows it LOL!!

A Photobucket account isn't too hard to set up. You will need to register for the site and then it will take you to a main page where you can upload pictures. You can upload more the one picture at a time, but I wouldn't upload more then 7 at a time or it will take too long and may crash. Then on the main page it will give a 4 codes for the images and you can copy and paste them. I believe the Dis uses the IMG codes.

If you guys want I can take over the picture page. Everyone who wants their picture up would just need to PM their image codes to me once the new thread starts.

The first poster today was ...Gina Gina Bo Bina @ 620am post # 3538 on pg 237

Since then we have filled...... 7 PAGES! In 7 hrs and 25 mins. Seeing as we still have 10 hrs and 15 mins left for today and just over 5 pages left until 250.... Can we pull it off? Who's with me? Can we do it? Shelly, I hope you are ready to start Snowbirds Part II sooner than planned! :rotfl:

btw...our fastest page today was page 243 which we filled in just over 12 mins! :lmao:

Wow, I just checked the replies count on this thread and I am moving up! Yesterday I was # 21 with 39 posts....today I am # 14 with 60 posts! I'm catching up, yay! :yay:

WOW!! I made it into the top 10 with 89 posts!! This can only mean 3 things...

1) I am way too Disney minded (hence Disney OCD which is totally a technical term)

2) I talk way too much for my own good (should of know when the kindergarten teacher said well she's smart but talks too much LOL)

3) I LOVE THE SNOWBIRDS (this is my personal favorite) YOU guys are the best!

Wow you top ten ladies sure are serious about staying there!!!

It's taken me half of naptime just to catch up!

Has anyone stayed at ASMo before? I keep reading bad reviews but it's hard to tell if people are being biased after staying in Moderate or Deluxe resorts. :confused3

I have never stayed at ASMo but I have stayed at AS Sports and AS Music back when they first opened.
They aren't bad hotels, IMO they are a step above Super 8 and Holiday Inn. They do tend to be louder because they are popular with school/sport groups but they are not bad hotels. The pools are fun, especially at ASMO because of the movie nights. There are lots of water jets, but no slides.
If you will not be at the hotel often you may not even notice the noise. I would recommend requesting a room on one of the upper floors so you have less of a risk of people running past your door at 1am.

January 2009. . . Anyone else going???

Hello! This will be my family's 4th trip to WDW!!! We've never been in January before and don't really know what to expect! We've been in October once and May twice, so we are looking forward to lower temperatures and lower crowds! :goodvibes

We don't have any plans set in stone yet, but I am working on it! I think I will wait for the 2009 rates to come out before I do anything. I am looking for airfare already though!

So here's our tentative plans: 7 days/6 nights, January 21 - 27, possibly getting the DDP one more time before DS9 turns 10 and would be charged as an adult!

Going in the winter will be a new experience for us!

Anyone else going in January and want to chat about our plans to make the time go faster??? :yay:

Hey

Where are you staying? We are going Dec 28-Jan 3 wanted to stay at value to keep cost down and all they had which we had to book was WL-courtyard with DDP.

Next week I am making a countdown chain with the kids for our trip! I got the chain frm the Disigns board. Every day has a different Disney themed picture. The kids a have a few days off from school next week so figured that was a good time filler. :)

I am really starting to try to pick up on making money so I can cover our DDP. 3 months is CLOSE now Woohoo

:cheer2: Woo hoo, i'm so excited for the new thread! :cheer2:

With ASMo, I looked into it and originally that was where we were planning on staying. After looking over reviews on the Dis, I decided to change over to the Pop. There were fewer complaints about mousekeeping, noise, and the buses. I really do think ASMo looks cool though and hope to stay there in the future.

 There are not words Trixie!! I just love you!! You are amazing and always bring a smile to my face!!! Let's not even go over my spelling, grammar is a big enough issue to deal with!! Although we could have an entire therapy session on my excessive compulsive need to use the exclamation point! Where is distherapy?? I might need a couch session!:rotfl:

HA! Love it. Although, as a word nerd myself (and one with a tendency to overindulge with the exclamation points!), I doubt I'd be much help! 10th grade spelling bee winner here! Also proud owner of a BAD GRAMMAR MAKES ME [SIC] t-shirt!:thumbsup2

And welcome to mom of triplets! I'm a mom of twins, so my hat is off to you! I stay home with them and the disboards are my therapy (hence my name!). Although it's time to start the neverending carpool to pick them up from school. drat!:headache:

Jen.... I was just wondering about that teaching time....lol.... I have a good friend who is my DS band teacher .... he thinks outside of school she is great... but he says that during the day she "goes all teacher on him"... we actually took her on her first Disney trip about 3 years ago.... she is hooked now!!!!:yay:

WOW... I grew up in Lockport over by Buffalo and all my family lives there.... we spent 13 years in Boston, MA, then a few years in Erie, PA and then we moved here. Where in CNY are they??????

My family members live in Liverpool (where I grew up) and North Syracuse. That's so crazy that you grew up in Lockport. We live in Tonawanda. My sister's soon to be in-laws (and their extended family) all live in Lockport.

Two questions:
1) I can see how many posts I have, but how do you see how many posts I have on a particular thread? Or the top 10? Or whatever?

2) Re New Thread: I've got this phobia about posting my picture on the net, especially with all the other ID'g info, like resort & ADRs, so I won't be doing that. But Shelley, would you like me to try to do the January Snowbirds list by date, so that we can easily see who overlaps whom? I'll be happy to put in that work!

ETA: I just made 400 posts! Does that get me a party??? :cool1:

:cheer2: Woo hoo, i'm so excited for the new thread! :cheer2:

With ASMo, I looked into it and originally that was where we were planning on staying. After looking over reviews on the Dis, I decided to change over to the Pop. There were fewer complaints about mousekeeping, noise, and the buses. I really do think ASMo looks cool though and hope to stay there in the future.

I will be at the Pop while you are there!!! We will have to meet up and say hi!!! I hope you are looking forward to your trip as much as I am!! I can't wait!!!!

LOL!!! Our school works a bit differently! I have a morning break before the kids get here.. then my planning period is about 1hour 15 minutes..and then we have 15 min passing periods. We are on a rotating block schedule and somedays I get a whole schedule where I only have kids in the morning. This is one of those days the last time I saw kids was at 10am. Now I'm done with the day and as I grade I periodically check in on the boards. Tomorrow is a full day and a lab day so I will have to settle with just checking in at lunch. I'm very lucky at my school! I know I get a lot more planning and grading time then other school teachers so I appreciate that a lot!

And now I have re-established the fact that I talk way too much!! Back to grading..maybe LOL!

Has anyone stayed at ASMo before? I keep reading bad reviews but it's hard to tell if people are being biased after staying in Moderate or Deluxe resorts. :confused3

We have stayed there during our last two January trips and plan on staying there again this January.

It is by far the most "Disney themed " resort. It is what it is.... a value resort. Clean, the basic necessities, and a place to lay your head. If you plan on being at WDW for the parks, Movies is the place to stay. If you plan on doing more things around the resort, you'll probably want to look into a Moderate or Deluxe.

The buses are not bad if you have patience. Most of the time we never waited longer than 15-20 minutes. Typically for the MK and Epcot buses it was around a 5-10 minute wait. We have never had a problem with the noise (we stay in the Toy Story Building). There does tend to be tour groups, but they have never bothered us.

Honestly, we could stay in a cardboard box, after all we are at Disney World:thumbsup2.

You can see how many posts you have in this thread by going to the "Countdown and Live Reports" forum. Look to the right of the thread name and click on replies.

If you want to take on a list - go for it! I just can't keep up with another list with new people nearly everyday!

Thanks so much for your feedback!!! The last two times we stayed at CB and liked it but we spend 99% of our time at the parks. This time we are trying to save a little $$$ and thought about a value instead. As long as it has a shower, toilet and bed- we should be okay. I was just worried after reading some bad reviews- thanks for helping me relax a little. :scared:

I am not so familiar with commercials..... we have a TV but don't actually watch Television, no cable or sattelite or anything so ......... we just download shows from the web or buy DVD of our Fave shows ( I own the first 5 seasons of FRIENDS) :)

I'm going to go and post on the new thread now! BYE BYE PART I :)

You'll like it, our children (who really run the show;)) wouldn't let us stay anywhere else! I think they know the money we save will be spent on them:lmao:.
