Thanks soooo much for responding! I was beginning to think that I was the only one with plans so far in advance. The planning is so much of the fun.
What is the Garden View Tea?? It sounds really nice.

We're planning a trip at the end of September 09 that may spill over into October. My DS 10th bday is 9/29 so we are going to celebrate that while we're there. We had planned on going during December then I got to thinking about his 10th bday and we found the excuse we needed to move it up! ;) Depending on school schedules and discount codes (crossing fingers) the date could change. I've told DS we will celebrate his bday even if we go early (thinking free dining).
I'm trying to pace myself on the planning so I haven't gotten a lot done. I do think I've decided on POR. We've done Pop and Movies and thought we would try a step up this time around.

That would be a birthday to remember! I have read many good things about POR. I am sure he would enjoy the waterslide!!

Resort: Beach Club (hopefully :cloud9: ) or POR
Length of Stay: 4 nights then 3 nights on the Wonder
Dining must dos:
Biergarten
Kona Cafe
The cruise is a surprise for the kids, mostly for the oldest as it is her wish to go on a Disney Cruise. So since it will be her senior year and we can't aford to take one a cruise in the summer after graduation she gets an early graduation gift. Of course we will also do the F&W festival and the MNSSHP as we are planning to go around mid October.
I tell you though, it just can't get here fast enough right now. :rotfl:

We did Kona for Christmas dinner last year and it was delicious. I had the Beef Teriyaki, it was very good and I highly recomend it if you like teriyaki. The grandparents had the prime rib which was also excellent(grandma still raves about it and she is quite picky about how her meat should be cooked). DD14 had the Pan Asian Noodles (or something like it) and thought they were also good. I don't remember what else everyone had. I did enjoy dinner more than breakfast, but I am not much of a breakfast person either.
I saw Mamma Melrose's on your must do list. How is it? We have never been and I have been thinking about trying it out.

We are Italian so I wasn't expecting great, but we did it with the Fantasmic Pkge. We were pleasantly suprised. The food was good and the atmospere was great. I felt like I was in a scene from Lady and the Tramp. There were dimmed lights and strings of twilight lights throughout the restaurant. Service was good as well. We plan to do this again for the Fantasmic Pkge.

Since we have the two little kids, we feel that the Pop is the most exciting of all the resorts.
We were going to do CSR, but now it just seems very adult.
My children aren't very good in resturants, so we figure we will do the princess party and the hoop-de-doo.
Other then that we plan on doing easy quick meals.
I think we are going to do the dining plan.
I use to go every year as a child with my family and I want to do the same for my children. (or as best as we can)
Sadly I haven't been since 1998.
I would love suggestions on things to see and a realistic timeline.
My husband keeps saying we will play it by ear, but i know this place is so big with two little ones that we have to have a game plan.
Lastly, I am not sure now if 9 days will be two long with a 4 year old and a 2 1/2 year old.

This is a great place to gather ideas. You can look at the 9 days as giving yourself a couple of days to reeeelax. No cammando. We did 9 nights the first time last year with our 10, 7, and 5 year old. None of us was ready to come back, well maybe DH, hehe. Go with a plan and be flexible with it. My DH thought I was spending way too much time planning until we got down there. Then he was thanking me and telling his friends to go with a plan. I even planned his friend's trip. He is a single dad to 3 rowdy boys and he did not have a clue about Disney. After me sweating it out, I am happy to say they had a wonderful time and wonderful meals.
The dining plan was great. We did soooo many character meals. Do not worry tooo much about behavior. It is Disney afterall and they are used to kids everywhere. I highly recommend Chef Mickeys. It is a buffet at the Contemporary so you can monorail from the MK for a nice break. There is great interaction with the characters. We did an early dinner and they came around our table at least 5 times. The kids and us parents looooved it. it was a great way to kick off our vacation the first night. Table service was our way of taking a break. There is sooo much going on that the kids will be entertained.
Someone once told me that after 3 days of going you will hit a wall. It is true. After 2 or 3 days of parks it is great to have a pool day and then maybe go to dinner and a park in the evening. We also did a park in the morning, get there at least 30 prior, and leave after lunch and go back to swim. Pace yourselves. The kids will not know any different. They will enjoy themselves if you are relaxed and rested.
We spent most of our time in MK. We spent 1/2 day in AK. Kids did not like it. DS was fantastic and Epcot has a few hidden treasures as well.
LMK if you need any specifics. I would be glad to share. Happy planning. This is so much fun.

What I recommend is that you purchase Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 2008/9 when it comes out. It is an upbeat critique on what is there and popular. I have it and will get the new one when it comes out.
If you loooove to read and have the time, well you have a year, hehe, get The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. It is super thick and has every ride rating for every age group and every restaurant and hotel. I did this and got soooo much info. it gave me a start to what I was interested in seeing and doing and EATING. I loooove this book.
Let me know if this is possible and we can go from there. A lot has changed since you have been. You will love it and feel so great with the info you have under your belt. It can and is overwhelming, but it is also magical if you are able to accomplish a few things you wouuld like to do.
In these books it will tell you the cannot miss rides for your little ones like Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Small World...
Too scary for some is Snow White. My 5 year old wouldn't do it because of the witch/old hagg is there in the dark...
Anyway, sit back and relax and we can take it park by park. You will make your trip magical. Just know that you do not have to see and do everything this time around. If you know that you will have a much more relaxing time.
No stress, not worries. Akuna matada!

In addition to the two books mickey2minnie1 suggested, also take a look at the Passporter. I found it extremely helpful for our first family trip in 2003 (the last time DH and I were in WDW was 1987 :scared1: so everything had really changed). Without reading the books and these boards I don't think our trip would have been as much fun as we went for 18 days at Christmas/New Years time.
If you not sure you want to buy the book, take a look at your local library. Mine had Birnbaum's and the Unoffical Guide.

I just booked my room today at the Pop for 10/25-11/03!!! Yippee!!!! This is going to be the first time that my boyfriend and I go to Disney World so we are excited. Here is what I have planned so far:
1. Going to make a reservation for lunch at the Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater evenutally.
2. Going to go to MNSSHP twice while there and dress up for it.
Um...that's it so far! LOL We are not going to buy a dining plan because him and I have really strange eating habits. We tend to snack more than eat full meals. Also, we are going to be driving since we only live about 8 hours away.:wizard:

Who: DDad, DMom, DH, Me, DBro, DSIL
What: Dad-funded WDW Trip
Where: WDW, of course! Resort still TBD, but we're considering CR and POR
When: October 15-20, 2009 (six days/five nights*)
Why: Because, in Dad's words, "I want all of us to go there together before I'm too darned old to enjoy it!"
How: *Here's where the asterisk comes into play. If airfares remain "similar" this year to next, it will be cheaper for DH and I to fly out of our airport on October 14th, use my hotel points to stay over near the airport, and then join the rest of the crew that flies in first thing the morning of the 15th. If that's the case, DH and I will arrive in Orlando mid-afternoon on 10/14 and probably do Cirque that night. The rest of the family will take the first N/S flight from Baltimore the next morning, we'll head back to the airport to meet them, and then we'll all take the ME to our resort.
Must See: MNSSHP, Spaceship Earth (it was closed when DH and I were there last year), Big Thunder Mountain (ditto, plus the last time Dad and I rode it together in 1981, it broke down...gotta finish that ride together!), Soarin' (I just know Mom is going to love it!), POTC (we're all huge fans of the movies)
Must Eat: Le Cellier, Wolfgang Puck's, Brown Derby (there is no better Cobb Salad anywhere!)
Only 436 days to go! :rotfl:

Heartbreaker moment today (since the kids know nothing of the trip yet).
Got a mailing from the Disney Visa today, on the front of the envelope is a picture from the MNSSHP with a big mickey shaped jack-o-lantern. DD8 found it on the table and said, "I want to go to this party. I'll never get to to because of school." It was hard to keep from telling her that she just has to wait a year. She was very distraught thinking that she would never get to go to the Halloween party.
Little does she know!!!!

I was thinking of paying OOP for some meals to balance, but then they would know. Only real option is to do both which I think would be overkill.

Musts: The Brown Derby (We LOVED it on our first trip), SOARIN' (We never got to go last trip)
Everything else is just getting planned...lots of time!!
Question for everyone: What are the crowds going to be like during this time? Weather? How awesome is the MNSSHP?!? I'm excited to watch time slowly tick by with you all!!! At least I have the wedding planning to keep me occupied!!

Who: My fiance and I (both 25) and a bunch of our 20-something friends
When: Probably the first week of October for 7 nights.
Where: A grand villa. We've narrowed it down to OKW or AKL.
We've been talking for some time about getting a big group of our friends together so that we could fly down to Disney for a week. Now, we just have to get some people to confirm they are going and start taking deposits :)
Wow!! Sounds like a blast. Keep us posted.:thumbsup2

Crowds are very nice at that time. Weather is typically gorgeous. Last year we hit a fluke tropical storm and had rain for 5 days and sun for the remainder.

Hi everyone, hope no-one minds a UKer hijacking your board!
I've just booked our holiday for October 09!
I've been twice before, but not since 2000. :( This will be a first for my children which makes it even more exciting.
We're going from the 6th till the 20th and staying at POP!
I could have written this! I've not been since 2000 so, although I can remember the magic and good feelings, I can't really remember the specifics, and so much has changed since then so it'll be like my first time too.
I've never been the grown up one either lol. This is the first holiday I've ever booked and planned, hope I get it right!
I think POP is definitely the perfect resort for young children.
If it helps, this is the plan I've got so far, but with young children, this is just a guide, things could easily change when we get there for a million reasons. The ADR's I'm booking are mainly at Disney parks or resorts, so even f we don't go to that particular park that day, there'll still be the free disney buses to get there with ease.

I think we'll be happy there.
My dh and I agree that we didn't want to regreat not going delux.
I know we want to do the hoop dee doo and the lunch at the castle with the princesses.
Our anniversary is on October 4th and I would like to maybe do the living seas for dinner?
I would be open for suggestions, that is cute and family, but maybe a bit nicer then the regular run of the mill.
I think I would like to do at least one breakfast with the characters, i have read on here chef mickeys is great.
Do I need to have advance reservations for all my TS meals?

Some things I was thinking about disney...
What is the weather like in October normally?
Does it get cool at night that we should pack jackets and or sweatshirts?
And
Do they have water fountains around that we can refill water bottles?

YES!!!!!!! You will need to make advanced ADRs for all of your TS. Chef Mickey's (CM) is one of the most popular restaurants in all of Disney. We do dinner there to kick off our stay. It is so much fun and the buffet suits everyone and you can go at your own pace. Crystal Palace (CP) in the MK is wonderful for breakfast. Winiie the Pooh and friends are there. The food is really good and there is a lot of space. It is a buffet as well and you can go at your own pace.
We did lunch at the Castle with the princesses and we loved it. Our food was perfect despite what I had read from some posters. That is a ressie that you will need to count back like 180 days and dial at 7:00 am to get. It goes the fastest. Do not be to rigid about day and time for it, you will have to take what is available. It was just my daughter and I. The boys had a pool day. I had my TA call my ressies for me.
The Living Seas sounds like fun. I haven't eaten there.
My DH and I liked Le Cellier at Epcot in Canada. The kids like the special drinks and the pretzel bread sticks.
Ohana is fun, fun, fun for family. It is great if you are big meat eaters. Everything is grilled on skewers right there. the salad is awesome and they have kid friendly food. They do kid games right there like limbo and coconut races that are fun to watch. It is at the Poly which is not too far from you. You could boat to MK and boat to Poly or Monorail. Or leave MK and mono over to the Poly. We sat by the window and had a gorgeous view of the lagoon.
There is a TS at the WL that the kids will probably love. It is a kid place and I hear it is a blast.
You can go on www.allears.net and get all the restaurants and the menus... it is fun to look.
Are you doing the dining plan???? We always do tons of character meals because they are soooo much fun for all of us.

Sounds like you have planned a terrific vacation, madmumof2. I just wanted to add that the Animal Kingdom hours may not be long enough for you to take a break, and go back to the park. This year's October hours might be an indication of what to expect for this same time in 2009.
Boma is at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, not at the park. Although it would mean missing the afternoon parade, after your break, you could arrive at the lodge early for your dinner reservation to watch animals, visit their shop, or wander the resort.
Have a magical trip! pixiedust:

I am really hoping that Disney will allow us to swap TS for CS during this time frame. We love  alot of the CS places and not paying for the TS makes us feel like we are not losing our money or that we have to get every dollar out of the plan. I will book somthing to be safe.
Now, I really need to find a part time job by Jan. to pull this off. My DS will be a senior next year and hate to spend the money as I am sure we will need alot for him. I am hoping to have everything pd. for by start of school. I will plan and if the door opens we will go, if not we will stay home and plan for another time:thumbsup2.

Will be celebrating niece's graduation from high school :woohoo: next summer, but we are going to wait a couple of months until the temps and crowds are a little more manageable.
This will be her first trip since she was five. When it gets closer to ADR time in April, I am planning to let her pick many of our restaurants. On the "must do" list is 'Ohana, Boma, and either of the restaurants in France. She has taken three years of high school French, and should be able to at least greet the waiter, if not order our meal!

WooHoo -- an October thread!!
We're booked to be there October 13 (my birthday) through 17. I wanted to go for longer, but our stupid school district cut our fall break from a week to a long weekend. (I'm a teacher, and I'll have 2 kids in school next year -- 2nd grade and Kindergarten.)
Resort: Poly Club Level
I booked the basic DDP but I'm thinking that I'm going to upgrade to the deluxe. It makes sense for us because we're only spending 4 nights in the resort but we'll be there 5 days.
ADRs I'm thinking of :
Chef Mickey's
Le Cellier
50s Prime Time
Brown Derby
Plaza
California Grill
Kona
Ohana (repeat)
CRT (repeat)
(all still very tentative)

Sooooooo... All of my fellow travelers, what are you thinking will be the promotion for the second half of the year??? I am so hoping there is one. I would like the 4/3, but I am thinking that they may do something different.
We are still booked for the last week in October and I have thought out all of my ressies.
Do you think they will post that far in advance like they did this past 4/3?
Anyone out there care to guess or dream???

I'm really hoping to go Oct 09 but am not sure yet if this will work. We were just there in Aug (16-23) but thanks to TS Fay I felt that we missed a real lot. Don't get me wrong we had a great trip, but because of 5 straight days of rain we did not see Wishes, Illimunations, or Fantasmic. My DH is not a Disney nut like myself so he did not want to go back for three years. But even after this trip he was saying maybe two because we missed so much.
One of the things I really missed was the sitting on a bench & just soaking up the atmospere, kwim. This was kind of hard to do with all the rain. So of course my brain starts to thinking those crazy thoughts that maybe we can squeeze in another trip before summer 2010. My school district usually gives Columbus Day & the Friday before as a fall break so maybe we can squeeze in a long weekend trip. This is not always guaranteed (having the friday before off) so I kind of have to wait until next year's schedule is out, sometime in April, before I can really make any solid plans.
I'm not even sure if DH will want to go (me & the kids are off but he is not--so that would be a lot more time off for him). So that means it may just be me & the kids & I've never traveled that long &/or far with the kids by myself. There are a lot of things to consider before anything is booked. Right now I'm so excited about the possiblity of going that I know I'll figure something out. That's what we diser's love anyway right, the planning part. :rotfl: Wish me luck.

I really hope there's another great deal for the second half of the year. I'm hoping not the 3/4 because we can't go for 7 nights even if they give it to us. We're already pushing it to take off 2 extra days on our break (if I take another day off it will have to be without pay)
Another promotion deal would be great!!

Count me in! The plan as of now, is Oct 3-9 (a good deal could add a day or two) We'll be there to take advantage of the Birthday celebration offer for grandson (we'll take the gift card!)
CBR- always wanted too try it , and DD (28) and family are in agreement. Pirate room just may be a must.
At least 1 charactor meal (princesses or something with Mickey)- hoping they come up with a pirate pirate: meal-grandson would love it.
Not sure on dining (hope for dining plan)
Got to make it to Boma this time.
Hope to book soon. I get so nervous about making that commitment. I guess I just need to do it, and if a good deal comes out, maybe it will allow me to add nights, or add dining.
Crossing fingers that Visa or Disney make me an offer I can't refuse!

I am sooooo hoping for a great deal. I am thinking that they may do something different the second half of the year. Maybe extend free dining again??? I do not know, but I hope it is something we can all enjoy. I would just love a 5 off for each night stayed. Maybe increasing with each day. I might even extend my travel time a day if I can. When do you think they would announce something?

I just decided to seriously look into a short trip in October! It will be my sisters 24th birthday and i'm planning to do it as a surprise. I'm thinking of Oct 27-31st (her b-day is the 29th). My plan is to tell her we're going to the beach and just keep on driving. It should be so fun if I can get this to work. It's pushing my budget a bit since we're already going this January, but hey, the addiction has begun!!!

We're going 10/25 to 10/31 and will be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary. Has anyone ever had a great experience or suprise while celebrating their anniversary in Disney? I know there is no guaratee that they will do anything, but I an hoping something nice will happen especially since it's the "What will you celebrate" year. They asked me if I was celebrating anything when I made my reservation and the CM seemed very excited and glad I mentioned it was our anniversary.

Just booked SSP for Oct. 25-31st. 2bd villa. Wanted BC or BW but waited too long. Have never been to SSP or stayed in a villa so we are very excited. Also used PIN for 40% off room so...how much better can it get!!!
We usually stay at Swan or Dolphin, as we use points to help with cost but taking all 4 kids for first time so needed extra room and kitchen area, no point taking everyone out to eat all the time, they never eat everything.
Will we like SSP? Any thoughts?:cheer2:

Hi everyone! This is my first post and I am really glad to be here! I am booked for October 25-30with my mom. We have two rooms at YC. I got a 40% off code sent in my maiden name to my parents' address and it worked for this time frame. Doing 5 day passes with PH and Deluxe dining. We like to order room service for breakfast before heading out sometimes so with in-room taking two TS meals I think the Deluxe will pay-off. I went to MNSSHP for the first time ever in 2008 and can't wait to see it again. Our dates are Sunday through Friday, leaving early Friday morning. Any guesses on what nights MNSSHP would be from you guys with more time in? The dates should come out around May?

Hi. that is about the same dates as when I was there last year, 2008, and there were 2 parties during my stay. I think I was there 9/28-10/1. I remember we had a choice of 2 nights.

Hi. I replied to you yesterday but did not link it, sorry. As stated above, that is about the exact same week I went last year and there were 2 MNSSHP nights during my stay. I am sure you will see it when you are going.

:rotfl:
Wow! It's been nearly 200 days since my post. I know this because there are now only 238 days until my trip!
As of Saturday morning, we have reservations at POR. Each couple gets a standard view king room. We have room-only ressies right now, hoping for an extension of the great discounts we've been seeing lately or a PIN or some other money-saving offer.
Also as of Saturday morning, DH and I have our plane tickets! We are flying out the night before everyone else since it is 1) cheaper and 2) saves time on the first full day of our WDW adventure. As previously noted, we'll stay for free overnight at a hotel near the airport courtesy of my hotel points and then shuttle back to MCO in the morning to meet the rest of our clan.

Hi everyone! I wasn't planning on being an Oct 09er, but here I am!! My best friend and her FI decided to scrap their wedding locally and move the festivities down to WDW. :) They're getting married off property and for their reception they're buying everyone ticket for the Party For the Senses. :)
We're also planning on hitting up the Halloween party, as long as it's offered while we're down there.
Currently we're booking at Coronado, but hoping for AP rates to come out so that we can afford either the Yacht or Beach Club.

Woop, we booked our trip for Oct 13-19th last night!!!! We just finished our first trip to WDW and are so completely hooked. It will only be me and my younger sister this time, as my older sister has already used up most of her vacation time.
This will be a bday celebration for my sister. Her actual bday isn't till the 29th but I can't get those dates off work. So, it's an early celebration but we're okay with that. We'll also be tent camping this time at Fort Wilderness, which will be fun and will save money! While we'll miss the Pop, it just doesn't fit within the budget.
We're planning for MNSSHP; if you've been, what do you think? Is it worth the money?
Also, since it's technically not Jamie's "real" bday, do you think we'll still be able to get some perks? If not, do you have any suggestions on how to make this trip a little extra special?

We booked our October 09 trip today:cool1: We are staying at SSR from Oct 10-17!! This is our first F&W trip!! We cannot wait!!!!!!!!!
We are going in mid october . Booking next week ( I hope). We will stay one night at either POFQ or POP then on to BC!! Yeah, first time in awhile at an EPCOT area resort. My DS11 wants to eat every meal at Beaches and Cream. Hoping to go to a MNSSHP (can't wait until dates are ammounced!) planning on eating at Cape May and Crystal Palace. Doing the Magical Milestones Tour. (did Family Magic Tour last year)
Want to try figaro fries and check out American Idol. Maybe try some new food at Food and Wine Festival. Kind of worried about Columbus Day weekend crowds but hey we'll be at WDW - got to love that no matter when you go!

I am not sure about the crowd levels at that time of the year----this will be the first time for me going at that time---October 4- October 9th and we will be going to MNSSHP. From my understanding there is a special parade, fireworks, and a lot of the kids dress up for Halloween (my niece will be 13 and she is excited to attend:thumbsup2 .) A big draw for me is the limited attendance for the night and the hopeful ability for short lines on rides.:yay:
We did the Pirate and Princess party a few years ago and liked that despite the nonstop rain for the whole night! :sad2:

Wow! How our thread has grown!!! We have 7 months to go. That is just enough time to figure out dining, buying tickets for the MNSSHP, coordinating clothing for zip lock bags for each day, airline tickets (I have one way at Jet Blue for 76.00), arrangements for the house and dog, making my treasure hunt for the kids, planning an alnost perfect trip for my parents who never vacation and haven't been to Disney since '76, and whatever else that comes up! I am sooooo excited!
Thanks for coming on board.:thumbsup2
Anything different you do to get ready??

You can count us in as (repeat) October goers! It will be myself, DH, DD's 13 and 9. We will be staying at BWV (hoping to get switched to BCV). We will be there October 10-17. When will they "officially" release dates for MNSSHP? I can't remember from the last time we went. We are traveling to Orlando tomorrow (not going to WDW  ...we are going to Wide World of Sports for a Braves game, though), so we are going to spend "road time" planning our October trip. I want to get our ADR's nailed down so when my window opens up, I can make our ressies. When we went to DW last year, we thought it would be our last trip for at least a couple of years. But, here we come again!

I hope the original OP doesn't mind. Just trying to help as many DIS'ers as I can :)
I manage several stroller swaps over on the budget board. I thought I would extend an invitation to you to join the swap. A stroller swap is a group of DISers who will be staying at WDW and would like to use a stroller without paying $31/day for a WDW stroller. A stroller is purchased and passed from one vacationing DISer to the next on the list.

I'll be there Oct 24th - Nov 1st
Right now staying at POR but hoping for some type of discount to upgrade to AKL Club Level. If not, we will be doing the Dining Plan for the 1st time. We will be celebrating our 15 year wedding anniversary. We got married in WDW in September 1994 and didn't realize it was hurricane/rainy season. I have always wanted to go back for our anniversary but just don't want to risk having bad weather the whole time like we did for our wedding/honeymoon so we are just celebrating a month later.
Plans (if we get Dinning Plan):
Sat - get in late, dinner at DTD
Sun - AK, Dinner - Hoop De Doo Review
Mon - DHS, EP, Dinner -Le Collier
Tues - MK, Dinner -Jinko
Wed - Universal, Lunch -Mythos; Dinner - Checkers (don't have any here in Vegas)
Thurs - EP, Breakfast - Boma, Dinner - Food and Wine
Fri - DS/Force ourselves to relax:eek:, Dinner - California Grill
Sat - EP/MK (MNSSHP) - Lunch - Food and Wine, Dinner - Ohana
Sun - Leave:sad2:

We actually scored huge as it just so happens that WDW announced the free dining as we were booking, so we will go to the CAA TA on Monday to have our reservations booked into that plan!
I am gonna go back thru this thread :surfweb: now and read everyones plans for October.

We booked the bounceback promotion for Oct. 25-31 at the WL in a woods view bunkbed room. Rate is $234.50 per night. Rack rate is $335, so that's almost exactly $100 off per night. Not a huge deal, but pretty good. We might cancel this though and book thru DVC points again, it will depend on if we can get a 1 bedroom villa for cheaper than the WL bouceback rate. It might turn out to be exactly the same price.
The kids actually get out for Fall Break on Oct. 23 so we are thinking we'll do Universal the first three days! :thumbsup2 We haven't been there in years so I've already started research.

11th-18th at CSR with free dining, just booked a couple of days ago so i'm currently bouncing off the walls! Boma is a definite (bf's favourite restaurant anywhere so we'll probably eat there for dinner and pay OOP for breakfast too) aswell as 50s Primetime, Le Cellier and Beaches and cream (paying OOP). Also considering Ohana breakfast, Whispering canyon cafe, one of the GF signatures, 1900 Park fare, Coral Reef (loved this last time but just wondering if we should try somewhere different, plenty of time to decide I guess!) I want to do a tour aswell, did KTTK in 2005 and loved it so probably will do one in another park this time :)

Hi everybody!
My family (DH, DD6, DD4) will be heading to WDW for the first time. When we heard about the free dining we booked right away. I asked the WDW reservations person about checking in on Oct 3 and if FD would still be granted for the rest of the stay (I had read someone's post regarding that) and she said absolutely! So, we're going down Oct 3-10. To save money we're staying at the POP. Both of our mother's are going, too, and will be staying in a room together near us.
It's a bit overwhelming trying to figure out ADR's and such. I guess which ever ADR's I'm able to get will determine where we go that day! I'll be trying for
CRT B
CM D
Crystal Palace L/D
T-Rex (yes, I know it's not on the DDP, but CRT will use up 2TS and we'll need to eat somewhere!)
O'hana D
Hmm..couple others but I can't think of them right now. I think I'm going to aim for booking MNSSHP for Oct 8th. or 6th. Haven't made up my mind I guess!
We plan on taking a break everyday back at the resort, either for napping or pool time. I guess we'll take it day by day and see what everyone wants to do w/ their downtime. We'll visit AK one day, Epcot one day, HS one day and the rest will probably be dedicated to MK. We'll get to our resort around 1pm or so that first day.....not quite sure what to do w/ that time. Book an ADR in MK? Go shopping in DtD and go to T-Rex that night? Any suggestions?
I read on another forum about making a custom planning/journal for our trip. I'm a scrapbooker and am thoroughly enjoying doing this. It's my planning guide for getting ready and I'll bring it down to WDW w/ me and also use it for my journal everynight to jot down what we did every day....that'll be my big souvenier from this trip. If anyone is into doing that kind of stuff, it's really fun!
Well, that's my scoop.

Well I have not found a job as of yet but I will not give up hope. My son has a great job for this summer and he wants to pay for most of it. I just got off the phone with Disney and added 3 more teens to our party and we will celebrate them in their last year of high school. They do not take senior trips here and my son can not swing band next year so this is his chance to travel with his friends.Getting excited all over again and can not wait to see what 4 17 year olds dress up like at MNSSHP.

We have 181 1/2 days till we're at Disney again. Last time we were there ( last Oct.) we bought into DVC so we'll be staying at BLT from 10/25-11/01. We're so exciting to be going back. We're planning on buying our NSSHP tickets on 05/01/ for the 31st. And of course we need to figure out our costumes. I have no idea about dining yet since DH won't sit down and go over menus.
Can you tell I'm a little excited for our trip? :yay:

Changed my trip plans this past Monday. :wizard: After reading this thread and learned that I could get free dining for my dates of October 3-10, I convinced the others in our travel party to cancel our house at WH and stay on property. We are now booked at All Star Sports (kids choice) for free dining AND MNSSHP. It doesn't get much better than that!!! I am so excited to be staying on property now and starting to plan my dining reservations. I already have my park days figured out. I wish I knew how to make a spread sheet to record my information.

Great minds think alike, don't they;) We have requested the touchdown building, as I did not pay for preferred rooms in the surfs up building, but want to be close to the main areas (food court, bus stop). On the ASSP thread, they let me know that none of the buildings are far from the main building, but touchdown is obviously closer by looking at the map. I have started working on my ADR's since I am planning for a Grand Gathering I have to make sure they are agreeable with everyone. I am exctied about MNSSHP and now have to decide what we are going to dress up as. Lots to do! Have fun planning.

We too just bought our tickets for the MNSSHP......we were able to buy them on April 30th........wooohooo. We are going on Tuesday the 27th. We wanted to go on Thursdays, the 29th, but the only night that our group could do the mickeys back yard barbecue. The only draw back about going on that tuesday is that we will have just gotten to the fort that monday afternoon. Friends of ours had gone two years ago on Halloween night and said that it was absolutely mobbed and not much fun because of all the chaos. We had gone in 2006 but not on halloween, and we had a great time....crowds, but nothing crazy. We just cant wait to go!

We had booked last Oct for 2 weeks at POP with the bounce back offer (free dining). But when I checked the price now it was less with the new offer so we rebooked and now we can't wait to start making ADR.
We are hoping to try a number of new places this trip*
Narcoossees*
LeCellier
Sanaa*
Marakesh*
Hoop-De-Doo *
Cinderela's Royal Table
San Angel Inn
Mama Melrose
Akerhaus
Kona Cafe'*

I can't get the people in my party to figure out if they want to go to MNSSHP so if they don't answer me by tomorrow I will just get tickets for DD14 and I.

Anyway...right now we are staying at SOG b/c my girlfriend is a navy vet unless we can get any other deals. Kind-of excited to stay at SOG though bc I'd never get the opportunity to try it otherwise.
Planning on MNSSHP on the 15th. Also, planning on hitting the food and wine festival. Never been to either so I'm super excited to try something new at Disney. No ADRs yet. Probably do Crystal Palace though, its a favorite...:goodvibes

We just booked this week for Oct 24-29 at BC. DS1's first visit!! We got a steal with a great pin code and I can't believe how quickly the rooms are booking up.
We've only been in November so we're excited to see the halloween decorations and experience October. What are the crowds like? We made it a point to avoid Columbus day but now I'm hearing about fall breaks! Please tell me that fall breaks are nothing like spring breaks. And how come we didn't have fall breaks way back when I went to school???
We have experienced a couple Jersey Weeks and really didn't find the crowds to be too bad at all so hopefully our dates in Oct will be similar, if not better. But I'd love to hear some confirmation of that!

I just changed my September trip to October 7th to 20th. :thumbsup2
13 Great days :cool1:
Too worried about September love bugs :scared1::scared1::scared1:
Even though they are harmless, I am not happy with swarms of bugs flying around (and landing) all over me.:scared::scared:
I just remembered that the last time we went in September was a few years back and there were zillions of them all over that year.
They are not ususally that bad but I'm not taking any chance.
Couldn't even go in the pool because when you got out, there was no where to sit since they covered all the lounge chairs. We cut our trip short and came home 3 days early that year since I was practically having panic attacks.:sad2::sad2:

Hi All!
Thought I would join the October thread as well.
Right now our plans are:
Me and DH
CSR-10/1-10/5
DLXDP
Park Hopping
We are on the free dining promo so DLXDP was an additional upgrade. I am having 2nd thoughts about it though. The number of credits is daunting. We are really not 3 meal a day people but we do like the signature restaurants. We could do one each night plus another meal plus 2 snacks Phew!! still seems like a lot of food. Also, I am not really set on CSR. We have stayed there before and really like it, but I am trying hard not to rent a car this time and am afraid if I have to rely solely on the buses (which I hate) I will cave and rent a car. If we switch resorts and stay BW/BC/YC (all still have availability) then I know I would not rent a car. This would be about a $600 dollar upgrade which I don't mind too much but is it worth that much money? SO while we have a reservation right now I still feel our plans are very up inthe air. Anyone care to comment??..... Please!!

I have stayed at both Boardwalk and Beach Club....I liked Boardwalk a bit better for the rooms and the location. You wouldn't have to rely on the buses as much because of the water transportation. I would save the money from the DDXP and put it towards the room b/c like you said it is a lot of food! popcorn::
I was thinking of getting the QS dining plan this time around ( I stay on points with DVC so I can't do the dining plan) but even with that it might be too much. But if it was free...... :rotfl:
It would also be extra convenient to stay at either Boardwalk/Beach Club because of the Food and Wine Festival and being closer to there. :confused3

We are staying CL with a 40% code and yet there are so many great restaurants, we are also doing the DDP. When I priced it out it still will save us money. I went on allears and did the math one night and it just seemed to work out that we should include it.
As far as the upgrade, it sounds like you would like to upgrade to BC, so I say go for it. Now is the time with the deals going round. You could always drop back to the DDP and drop the car and upgrade. The balance should be closer.:thumbsup2
Good luck!

Hi everyone!
Everyone sounds like their plans are coming along and many have great deals. I am sure more good deals will come along in August as in years past.
I thought I would update my own plans, because sometimes plans change.:rotfl:
We are doing a 7 night package from the October 24- Nov 1. We added a night at rack rate on the 23rd.:scared1: We still are booked for the Poly GVCL. We are also doing the DDP. It will be me, my DH, DS 12, DS 9, and DD7. My parents are also coming along. They never go on vacation. They will be soooo surprised about the CL part. They have no clue.:rolleyes1
We plan to do...
Chef Mickeys
Le Cellier
Nine Dragons
Cinderella's Round Table
Afternoon Tea at the GF
Crystal Palace
Hollywood and Vine (for Daughter)
Ohannas
Kona
1900 Park Fare GF (I think that is what it is called)
Illuminations Cruise (another surprise for my parents)
I think we have decided against the Fantasmic. We did it last time and did enjoy it, but I think we will pass this time. DH and I want a couple hours out together instead.:lovestruc
We plan to do a couple of pool days and MNSSHP on the 27th. I am still excited and just want to get my parents there and let the magic begin.:wizard:

Must eats? Golly, that is a daunting task, isn't it? The must eats already listed here, though, are certainly good ones for my research. DS has requested Mickey at his birthday breakfast, for it's Chef Mickey for sure. Other than that, I'm particularly excited about the F&W Festival! :cool1:

I'm trying to decide if I want to go on the 27th or not...it's my birthday and trying to figure out what I want to do on my birthday. My guess, we'll be there, get a 4:30 or so for CRT for dinner....I'm trying to figure out what to have kids dressed as. Anything disney i've suggested to my oldest to try and get all 3 boys to go together, he hasn't wanted to do. Of course I have a buzz costume that would fit my middle DS.
i actually had another idea, but I need to find the babies costume. I was thinking red sox players. I have seen a Wally (their mascot) costume..so I need to find that for my youngest and make sure it isn't too hot and have my other 2 sons in their jerseys and we can go as boston red sox. I can always have hubby and I in shirts/hats as red sox fans. trying to think of something a little different and I have everything already for this, except the Wally costume.

So far, (depending on what they do with Fantasmic and park hours), this is what I have, including my tentative ADRs:
10/23: Arrival Day
We plan to go to DTD after we check in, see Cirque du Soleil and eat dinner at Planet Hollywood.
10/24: DHS, dinner at Mama Melrose's
10/25: MK, breakfast at Ohana, dinner at The Plaza
10/26: AK, breakfast at Boma
10/27: Epcot, dinner probably at San Angel Inn. MNSSHP at night
10/28: AK, dinner at Yak & Yeti
10/29: MK, breakfast at Kona Cafe
10/30: Epcot, I want to go back to Coral Reef for dinner but my boyfriend doesn't like seafood so we'll see what happens with this one...
10/31: DHS, not sure yet...I was thinking about trying out the Brown Derby or H & V for dinner...but we are going to MNSSHP again tonight so maybe we'll leave DHS a little earlier and have dinner at Crystal Palace instead....
ETA: Boyfriend decided he wants to try Brown Derby so that's where we are at for now!

Me & my wife are all booked up for 7 nights at the Wilderness Lodge 11-18 Oct.! Wooooo Food & Wine Fest here we come!! This is our fourth time at WL - we love the place. Have stayed in Port Orleans, the Poly & Beach Club Villas and while both had things going for them (price and location, respectively) we find WL is the bomb diggity shizzle and checks all the boxes for us. Have stayed off Disney property and it really can't compare.
We're gonna book reservations for lunch / dinner (only for the latter on the days we're in Epcot, since from experience we know we'll stuff ourselves stupid for lunch visiting all the stalls on the world showcase) at the following -
Definite:
* Ohana (bring on the wings cousin)
* Le Cellier
* Brown Derby
* Teppan Edo (or as my wife calls it, 'Teppan YUM')
* Raglan Rd.
* Whispering Canyon Cafe (breakfast skillet FTW)
* Big River Grille & Brewing Works (I love beer)
* Rose & Crown (for the beer & the fireworks!)
* Coral Reef
* Casey's Corner (hot dogs++)
* Boulangerie Patisserie
& Possibly:
* Yak and Yeti (not been here yet but interested to try it out)
* Biergarten
* San Angel Inn (bring back Queso Fundido & El Rio del Tiempo!!)
139 days and counting....

We'll be @ CSR from the 2nd til the 10th...unless we get the "resortitius" changing thing that sometimes goes around (from what I've heard, that is);) We haven't changed resorts yet, but sometimes I still look into some of the others. This is our 1st trip to Disney so I'm just trying to get my mice in a row to go. We're also doing the water parks + so it should be quite an adventure!:goodvibes

Sounds like a lot of disers are going the week of Halloween.
Have any of you been there that week in previous years.? We have a ressie for Oct 23-31.
I posted a thread a while back and had just a small handful of responders; all with positive comments on how low crowds were then the past two years. But then, I have read on some other threads that Halloween crowds were crazy. I know that Halloween night will be mobbed, but how is Disney the week of Halloween? We went 2 years ago the week before halloween and that was good. Does halloween actually attract crowds like other "Holidays"?

Booked my airfare this morning! This will be our first time flying on an airline other than Delta! I booked Southwest because the flight itself was a little more expensive but they don't charge for checked bags. We normally only check one each on the way down, but I usually check at least one more on the way back for souvenirs and stuff and I didn't want to have to pay an additional fee. I can't believe Delta charges $15 for the first bag and the $25 for each additional! :confused3 So we booked Southwest for like $540 R/T for the both of us! Now if my ticker would just move a little faster!

We are spending 10/1-10/4 at Pop for free dining then moving over to the BCV from 10/4-10/7 and staying on our DVC points. I'm dreading making ADR's under the new system and dealing with:
1) we have a split stay so I have to go thru the process 2 times
2) the second stay is on DVC points and the system isn't recognizing DVC reservation numbers
3) I can start making reservations this Friday and the lack of a calendar is driving me crazy
4) I've been playing with the online ADR system and no matter what day/time I select I cannot get a single Le Cellier reservation to display as being available -- it is a MUST DO for by DH

Hours have been posted! Check on the Official October 2009 thread for the link.
Here is what I have planned:
The party includes me (33), DH (34), DS (will turn 7 on our trip), DD (3 1/2), my mom, my in-laws, my BIL (32), and my SIL (30-ish).
Our flight arrives at noon on Friday the 16th. Our in-laws are driving and will arrive the 15th, so they will open up the house for us.
Fri., 16th: Arrive, grocery shop, go to Epcot for Illuminations
Sa., 17th: CRT Breakfast, MK
Sun., 18th: DHS, MNSSHP
Mo., 19th: Epcot World Showcase
Tu., 20th: AK, late dinner for DH & I at Cali Grill
W., 21st: Epcot Future World
Th., 22nd: MK, DS's bday dinner at Chef Mickey's, DTD for birthday shopping
Fri., 23rd: Depart on 8am flight
We do plan on taking midday breaks back at the house. I know the 22nd is not optimal for MK because of AM EMH, but it is DS's birthday, and I can't imagine spending it at any other park (especially since it will be our last day!)

cant answer you on the party, not doing it. however dh and i ate at cp in 05 with no kids and had a blast!!! im a huge pooh fanatic! for you wifes bday why dont you check out the cake chatter thread on here? did you know disney will custom make cakes? i didnt and will be surprising dh wiht an anniversary cake(our tenth) on our last nite. the cakes start at 6 inch which i think are a generic premade one with no extras or you can go up to 8 inches to start to customize it.

You will love the Pop if you have kids. They have a splash area, a kiddie pool and a regular pool. The oversized "toys"....Mr. Potato head and Playdough cans are great.........my kids loved them, as well as the big wheel. It is very spread out, and the rooms are smaller than most, but its still a great resort. We had stayed at the Coronado, but decided it wasnt very kid friendly for us. But I think that may have had to do with the fact that we were in what seemed like the last room, of the last building, all the way in the far back corner......LOL I am sure we will pass you guys at some point at MNSSHP! Very close to our 99 day mark....whooo whoooo
Simba22
07-15-2009, 09:19 AM
nope, no kids for us! We thought about staying at a moderate again this year, but for the amount of time we actually spend in the room, it doesn't make sense to spend the extra money.
See you at the party! Counting today (since it's only 20 after 9 in the morning) we have 100 days to go!

have you made your ADR's (Advanced Dining Reservations)yet? Your staying onsite so you can book your Adr's for your trip when you hit the 90 day mark and for the Character Breakfasts and Boma you are going to want to do ASAP. And I think the Mickey,Chip and Dale one you are looking at is Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary Resort.

:confused3:confused3
We've been there the first week of Oct. and it was mid 80's everyday at least!! The last two years we've gone the first two weeks of Nov. and we still wore shorts. I did get colder when the sun went down (60's). This will be our first time there at the end of Oct. so we're hoping for warm but not HOT weather.:wizard:
Also, when we go inNov it's usually right after the daylight saving time. So it gets dark earlier which also means it's colder earlier too.

I just booked our trip for 10/01/09 at the Poly. This is our first rip since 2007I'm so excited I can't sleep! But I will say I have sticker shock after booking the airfare today. $19. for first bag, $25. for second! Then we had to pay $20. for each of us (only 2 but ...) to reserve 2 seats together on the plane.
What a rip off!!!! I thought I was doing well with a reduced air fare but after all these add ons! But we're going to Disney so I'll celebrate! :yay:

Delta tried that nonsense too! I have always flown Delta and switched to Southwest for our upcoming trip. No luggage fees! It still cost $500 for 2 roundtrip tickets, but we're leaving on a Friday and coming back on a Sunday so that automatically jacks up the price. I'll rethink our travel days for the next trip...

2 years ago we stayed at CSR and they had some tables setup outside and was giving out candy, stickers and little toys. DTD has a lot going on BUT it is packed, because a lot of locals take their kids there. Each store gives out candy or other stuff and there will be lines, I would suggest to try and get there early if you are going to do it.
We will also be at WDW during halloween, staying at CSR from 10/24 - 11/1. We have not made any ADRs, we learned our lesson 5 years ago when we took our 1st DD when she was 3 months old that it was very hard to keep to any type of plans. Our 2nd DD will be 3-1/2 months old when we go, so we are just going to go with the flow, relax and take our time enjoying just being at WDW:)
