We have reservations for our trip but wanted to add a 1 day on at the start. Howevre our TA said there was no room available :confused3 at the values in begin of Dec. But i think it may have been the CAA packages that are not available as the website showed availablity. Anyways, what she did was add on a room only (no discount) but no dining plan that night. However, the next day is when our package kicks in, so wondering what time that next day i could use the dining plan. I would like to do a BF that morning, but if i can't use the DDP then i will have to pay out of pocket?

The DDP starts as soon as you check-in. So if you go and check-in in the morning you will be able to use the DDP for breakfast.

I can't say for absolutely certain, but I would say that your DP should be available to you for breakfast that morning. Last year we added the DP for out Aug trip. We arrived at the resort before noon, checked in (couldn't go to our room as it wasn't ready) but our DP credits were available (unfortunately dumb us we didn't realize that and we paid OOP for lunch at DTD). I would verify with the CM's when you check in the day before everything kicks in..

Hope you have a good time.. i'm jealous.. love to go in Dec.

They are available right after checking in. Our last trip we checked in and then trotted right over to the Pepper Market for lunch and the credits were available then.

Since we live about 9-10 hours away and drive to WDW, we often say off-site the first night. Last year we got to the Resort at about 7:30 am; got checked in, picked up our cards and left for the park. We used the card to get a snack at the MK at about 8:45. This year we'll be coming from a cruise at Port Canaveral so will we check in and immediately go for dinner at La Boma. I'm not sure if the cards would be good if you checked in one minute after midnight, but for normal times they are ready when you are.

thanks for replies, but the first day is room only without dining being able to add on. So technically day 2 is when i get the dining plan. I just wondered if it starts as of 12:01 am or would it be as of check in time of 3pm? We arrive around dinner on Friday and will pay OOP for dinner, but would like to book a BF the next morning. Hopefully i can use it first thing in the morning?:confused3

My understanding is that you need to go in the morning and "recheck in" (ask to be in the same room), in order for your package to start. DDP credits and theme park tickets are then added onto your card then.

We are also doing a one night room only stay, then starting our package the next day, so we have 2 separate reservations. Since travel takes most of one day we wouldn't go into a theme park anyways, we did it that way, then the next day starts free dining :thumbsup2

The dining plan will kick in on the second day after you check into the resort. Even though you might not get into the room until 3pm, you can check in first thing in the morning on the 2nd day to get your room keys with dining credits attached. I think you can check in as early as 6am but I am not sure.

When we've had to use two reservations at Fort Wilderness, they "connected our reservations" so that they put us down for the same spot/room for the length of time of both reservations .... but then I had to go to the front desk to check-out of the first reservation (on check-out day) and check-in (getting new cards) for the second reservation.

You will want to make sure now that your reservations are connected just in case whoever schedules the rooms does not see the two together. That way they will just be planning on you staying in the same room for the full length of time. I wouldn't wait until you get there, but do it in advance.

Again, you will need to check-out and then check-in, getting new cards, for the second reservation.

You will check in for your one night room-only reservation any time that first day/night.
You will check OUT from that reservation and IN for your package reservation any time after 7 AM following your one night room-only reservation. Even if your room is not ready, your Dining Plan credits will start THEN: Once you have checked in for your package reservation. You cannot do that before the hotel registration system rolls over to the new business day - around 7 AM.

I'm glad someone posted this question, as I was wondering how to do this too. I am checking in August 3 with a room only because we are driving and will be getting in late. I have a package for August 4-10, I made a reservation for Chef Mickey's at 9:30 for breakfast the morning after we get it. If I go and check in for our package with DDP around 8:00 AM August 4th I guess my credits will be able to be used then right?

Yep, but I would go even earlier in case the Front Desk is busy. You can check in (well, pre-register, but chances are you will keep that room) as early as 7 AM. Just one adult will need to go handle the transaction (the one who gets ready fastest in the morning and has already agreed - or at least conceded - to bring the refillable mugs along, and bring back drinks for everyone else).

Well it's not really agreeing or "conceding", it's more like told to go do it and don't you dare forget Mommy's caffeine........ I'm ugly without it. :rotfl2:

:rotfl: I, on the other hand, am usually the one volunteering, er, demanding to get out of the room where the kids are fighting over the tv remote and who hit who first.

Also, tossing on some flannel pajama pants and a baseball cap count as "ready" in my dictionary. ;)

To the OP: the room keys you get that first night will "expire" when you check out and check in again. Your new keys will have your DDP credits on them, and you will be able to use those credits anytime between when you pick them up the second morning and midnight on your checkout day. We always do a room only night before our package begins because we get in so late, flying in from the left coast. Have fun!

Now I thought for free dining at least, they need to have everyone on the reservation at the check-in time ... this verifies that you do have the number of people you say are in the room.

I would assume that this is only for the free dining, correct? Otherwise, you could say that you had two children with you .. not get charged extra for their room, but would get more CS and Snack credits that could be used by an adult.
