Universal Studios to SNA airport

Can anyone guess how long it might take to get back to SNA from Universal on a Sunday afternoon? Our rental car is due back at 1:30 and our only day to use the Universal tickets in our City Pass would be the day we leave or the day we arrive SNA at 10:00 AM but have hotel reservations for LaJolla that evening (the Saturday before).

Depending on what day your leaving it will take you probably 1 1/2 hrs.

101 to the 110 fwy to the 405 fwy. the most direct route.
shouldn't be to much traffic on a weekend (just pockets of traffic)
but you should always plan for the worse. and give yourself time to return the rental car, and and deal with the slow checkin people LOL, not to mention actually getting to the gate.

On a Sunday it should be about an hour driving time from Universal Studios to SNA. The drive from Universal to La Jolla is about 2-1/2 hours without traffic. That is a lot of driving. Either way, you are not giving yourself any time to see Universal.

Did it recently and it took an hour. Of course, you're gambling because an accident can slow the freeway to a crawl.

Most car rentals come with a 29 minute grace period these days, then about $10 if you're up to an hour late.
