How are the resort pools in December? I know most pools are heated in the cooler months, but is it still good swimming weather?

There's no way to answer your question. It could easily be 30 degrees or 75 degrees in December. Sure, the water will be heated if it's cold. But it's no fun (for me at least) freezing when you get in and out!
We have been 4 times in December and have been able to swim every time, although one year it was only a couple of days. I think it also depends on where you are from. I don't know about TN but in MI in Dec its pretty cold so 60 feels warm to us.

I've had luck with being able to swim for about 1/2 of my December visits .....

We had a terrific pre-christmas trip to Boardwalk last December, and our boys swam every NIGHT after getting back from the parks. It was chllly out (mid 50's) but the pool was pretty warm, and the jacuzzi was hot and steamy for a periodic temperature recharge...

When we arrived in Disney this past December it was warm and sunny - nice swimming weather. 2 days later the cold front hit and the temperature during the daytime was in the 40's! No one was in the pools, but the hot tubs were full every night! I'll bet that was one cold shock to the system getting out of the hot tub! :) I'd definitely plan for swimming because the weather swings like a pendulum.

also the pool location is important! At cr, poly volcano pool or gf new pool the, the pool is coming right off the lake and can get very breezy, at poly & gf there is another alternative but at cr nippy is the word. An enclosed area is warmer and blocks some of the strong winds.

I think it may also depend on where you stay. We were at CBR 12/20-12/26 and while it was warm enough during the day to where shorts the water temps were freezing. We heard from people staying at other resorts that the water was great.

we were there the first 2 weeks of Dec 2001 and stayed the first 8 nights at HIFS and that pool was like bathwater when we swam at night after the parks all day.. then we switched to CBR and the water was way cooler - altho they said it was heated surely didn't feel it to this body - however it didn't detur my kids at all.. LOL !! Just mom.. i sat in the lounge chairs at night covered by a towel.. and with a sweatshirt while the kids whooped it up in the pool with their new friends.. i am heading back the day after Thanksgiving for a week and will bring our suits and sweatshirts.. In 2000, it was a lot more comfortable swimming at the All Star Sports than at CR, just felt warmer to me. Probably big part of why I love All Star Sports so much - if I ever get rich enough I want my pool to be that warm.
