Discount for Annual Passholders?

Can anyone tell me if WDW offers a discount for tent campers who have annual passports?

They are offered, but there is limited availability. Also, the discounts may be restricted to slower times of the years. I've been an AP holder since 1989, and have NEVER gotten a discount on my campsite. Always a day too late, it seems.

I just booked my campsite last week and got in on the AP discount. My dates are 7/5 - 7/13. Also was able to get a good AP discount for a couple of nights in September.

When I made the ressie I mentioned tha Annual pass, the gave me the discount but you need to show the annual pass at check-in.

I think both are limited and I can't make any rhyme or reason out of it. We tried for both back in Jan 2008 when we made ressies for 10/20/2008 to 12/1/2008 and have both AAA and AP. Neither were available at that time. About 6 weeks ago when DW was making some dinner ressies she checked again and we could only get one day for the AAA, but that would mean splitting up a ressie and prepaying another day's cost, so we passed. About two weeks later when DW was finishing up the dinner ressies she checked again and low and behold we got 30 days AAA discount ($12.69/day discount) for the first 30 day ressie from 10/20 till 11/21. Since the dates after that are running into the higher cost Thanksgiving time frame that makes sense.

I think I would probably check every mo or so to see if anything is available and I doubt any are available during holiday season and probably very few during peak seasons.

No, I booked a partial site for both of my upcoming trips. Plus had a partial hook-up site for the trip I just took at the beginning of June. When I called in they originally quoted me for a full hookup site and when I said I only needed the partial, they gave it to me at the discounted AP rate.

Larry....Disney must not like you & me! Like you, I can never seem to get the discount. I've got some ressies for Sept & Oct. I'm going to call back and "bully" them into giving it to me. Keep your fingers crossed!

I have found the AAA discount to be better than the AP discount at the campsites in Value and Pre-Holiday season.

We bought our AP at the disney store, we have just the plastic card and the receipt and when we booked the CM told me that we need it to go to Downtown Disney, get our permanent AP cards and then check-in. :confused3

I talked to FW directly and verified the voucher is sufficient upon check-in.

to avoid confusion, the voucher is not sufficient to get into a park and can be exchanged at any park entrance into an actual ticket, the actual ticket is not required for the check-in, just the voucher. hope this helps

Last trip we had only the AP voucher (used AP discount to reserve and was instructed to activate AP at DTD before check-in) but didn't have time so I was certainly nervous but as it turns out they didn't ask to see anything. I think official policy is that they can ask to see the actual pass but...

Well, this is all as clear as mud:sad2: It kind of sounds like it all depends on which representative you speak to on the phone. Or perhaps their discounts really depend on a roll of the dice or something. Oh, well.

And now I wish I hadn't let my AAA membership lapse, but I didn't think I had a need for it anymore (company car, insurance is paid for).

You've got it about right. Annual pass discounts are released a few months ahead of time for a limited amount of rooms/sites at whatever resorts they decide. Also, depending on the knowledge of the reservations agent you get, you may have more success than at other times. The rule with Disney reservations is to be very specific with what you want, and call back if an agent seems to be clueless.

As far as AAA, I keep a single AAA membership STRICTLY for the discounts at Disney. It is only $45 a year and pays for itself. We cover our cars and the camper with Good Sam ERS, so it may pay to get you another AAA membership.

I hear you and right now I have the AAA RV plus for the two of us and it runs close to $180/yr. I also got one year free of COACHNET with our new trailer and based on the good reviews of it I will renew it in Oct (approx $90/yr) and next Apr when my AAA expires, I'll drop that down to the basic membership just for me so my total costs for both will be less than $140 for both.
