not on your cruise.. but we are on the double dip right after... so we will be watching your thread. SInce you all will be on after the dry dock.. you will have to spill the dirt.. maybe a couple LIVE trip reports since we get on when you all get off :)
Enjoy!

Wow! I wish we were doing the 10 nights on the Magic!
Last year I did my first "Disney" cruise on the Wonder and I am excited to see the Magic!
anewmac-- We will have to see about getting the info for you! Can't wait to see for myself how nice and spiffy the ship should be after dry dock! :rotfl:

I will be there - this is my 10 cruise but first on DCL so I'm really looking forward to it.
I haven't decided if I'm going down early and hitting the parks before the cruise or staying after. Guess I better hurry up and decide so I can book room and some flights.

We might be joining you. I started a thread on this and had no replies so I'm glad I saw this one. My DD 21st bday is on the 26th and 3 years ago we said we were going on DCL every year for our bdays. Mine is the 23rd. Checking the prices of other cruise lines :confused3 that are less $$$$ but I feel like I'd be throwing out the money on the other cruise because "it isn't Disney". Just trying to get all the little things planned :surfweb: like the airfare and doing MNSSH Happening on the 23rd. If it works out, we'll be joining you.

:dance3: :dance3: We are officially doing this cruise. I booked it earlier today. No excursions for us. This will be our 8th Disney Cruise. My daughter will be 21 on the 26th; her boyfriend's bday is on the 11th; my boyfriend's bday is the 19th and mine is the 23rd. I'll be 21 again along with my daughter. :lmao: Lots of celebrating :drinking1 :rainbow: party: :bday: :bday: :bday: I figured we'd go to The Atlantic for a little while to see the aquarium and gamble. We'll enjoy Serenity Bay. We want to celebrate her 21st birthday with the mouse. As of now, there's 6 of us going.
We did MNSSH 2 years ago. It was awesome. We're flying into Orlando on the 23rd to do it before the cruise and on the 27th , after the cruise, we'll probably do Universal's Halloween :scared1: Horror Nights.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Bev,
We are also from the Phila area. We live about 5 minutes from DE. We will be flying down on the 23rd also, but late in the day. We are doing a B2B on the Magic so we will be doing MNSSH on Oct 5th.
We are also thinking about doing Atlantis.

The Atlantis is a beautiful resort. They have the aquarium that is interesting and I know my son enjoyed playing poker when we were there 4 years ago - when he was 18. The 4 of us have been there but the other 2 haven't so I figured we'd check it out. I purchased our MNSSH tickets today. Booked accommodations for the 23rd but not the 27th yet. Booked the airfare so slowly it's coming together.

Hi everyone,
Was going to start a thread - but glad I found this one!!!!!
We'll be sailing with you too. DH, DD21 and I had already been booked on the first Magic cruise out of dry-dock, the 7-night Cruise to Costa Maya with two stops at Castaway Cay which was then changed from Costa Maya to Grand Cayman. When the new 3-night special cruise was announced, we booked immediately, but since DD has recently started her first job and can't get more time off the 3-night cruise will be DH and I on our own - our first cruise as a couple - Yippee!!! Will be strange only the two of us - but we're really looking forward to cruising alone. DD will still be joining us aboard for the 7-night cruise on the 27th.
Did anyone manage to book anything above a Cat 6?
Have flights booked as well as pre-stay in WDW from the 20th. Will also be staying one night after the 7-night too.
Looking forward to sailing with everyone.

Oh Bev how wonderful to be celebrating so much - Congratulations to all. My DD celebrated her 21st last year on the Magic, we celebrated 25 years of marriage 20 days later also aboard the Magic and a month belated graduation for DD snuck in between too. We had a wonderful or should I say "Magical" time aboard. DCL and all the CM were phenomenal and really made our celebrations extra special.
Congrats again,

Which Atlantis excursion are you thinking of doing? I did the Discover Atlantis in 2006 with my DBF and really enjoyed it. DH hasn't done this yet. We have Scuba Diving booked at the moment but may change to Discover Atlantis since we're diving on 7-night.
We're also thinking of doing the MNSSHP on the 23rd! Need to look at booking that soon.

DVC offers a discounted price on the MNSSH tickets. We're staying at SSR the night before and I guess Pop Century on the 27th. I don't have enough points for 2 studios on the 27th.
We live in Northeast Philly. It's not that far from Delaware. Can't wait.

My DBF that is going is planning it. We aren't actually doing an excursion. She has been many times and loves to plan our trips so I am letting her handle this! I think we are just going to take the water taxi over, have a look around, maybe play a few machines and then head over to senior frogs! :woohoo:

I had the same fear, and I have not found any way to know ahead of time. I went ahead and booked my palo dinner early, so I could enjoy the view. Then if that happens to be my Animators Palate night, my first choice will be to try to change it and if I can't change it, since I have the late dinner seating, I'll just go to the dinning room after Palo's and have a drink and watch the show.

The MNSSH is awesome. It's at the Magic Kingdom. It's a separate admission and I think definitely worth it. DD and I went last year and had a blast. They empty out the park by 7 but we were allowed in at 5. They give you a wristband and we were able to go on all the attractions without any waiting lines. The parade, fireworks etc were fantastic.:yay: Not to mention all the chocolate candies we received. 5 of us are going on the 23rd (my bday) then driving to the ship early on the 24th. If you are a DVC member, you receive a discount on the tickets. Doing either Universal or MGM after the cruise. DD wants to go to Universal's Halloween Horror Night the day we get off the ship. I'm a chicken and don't want to go. :scared1:
I can't wait to do the cruise. Although for us it'll be a tease after doing the Transatlantic one for 14 days last year. My feeling - 3 days on a Disney Cruise is better than no days on a Disney cruise:thumbsup2
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I want to go, but I'm not sure if I want to go alone. I went a long time ago, with my mom and she really did not like all the "scary characters" coming up to you. I don't like that either but I was okay with it with my mother there (and I'm not a kid - at the time I was in my 30's and she was in her 50's :rotfl: )
I don't like the haunted houses - but I do like the shows, I have a feeling I will chicken out.

My DD has no idea that we are all going on this cruise. We were originally booked on 9/1/08 but things came up. In the past, we've started a tradition of doing the Disney Cruise for our birthdays (9/23 and 9/26). She knew the Magic was in dry dock and the Wonder was too much $$. She thinks she's only :rotfl2: going to DisneyWorld with her boyfriend :love2: and doesn't know the Magic is doing this 3 day cruise and so are we. Boy will she be surprised.

we have reservations for this cruise too! we HAD reservations for the 9/27 sailing, but my parents bailed on us and so we cancelled....then i saw this and have a tentative ressie! this would be our 4th or 5th cruise.
we are a family of 5....me, DH, DD8, DS6, DD4 (9/16 b-day) from Long Island, NY.
we also have ressies for SSR 9/27-9/30 and AKV 9/30-10/4. We are doing MNSSHP on 9/30 or 10/2 (we are DVC members).
the only "issue" we have is.....I broke my ankle (in 3 places!) on 6/29 and I am still in a boot and can't walk (yet!/still!). so i am very concerned about the WDW part of our trip. sure wish i hadn't cancelled the 9/27 sailing!
anyway, count us in for the fish extenders....it is alot of fun!

We are doing a B2B with the 27th double dip it is a shame you had to cancel. We are going to do the FE on the 27th cruise just couldn't fit all that stuff in our luggage for two FE exchanges.

we have reservations for this cruise too! we HAD reservations for the 9/27 sailing, but my parents bailed on us and so we cancelled....then i saw this and have a tentative ressie! this would be our 4th or 5th cruise.
we are a family of 5....me, DH, DD8, DS6, DD4 (9/16 b-day) from Long Island, NY.
we also have ressies for SSR 9/27-9/30 and AKV 9/30-10/4.
So sorry to hear about your ankle. Hope it's better in a few weeks. I am doing the opposite of your trip, I am at AKV 9/27 - 28 and then to SSR through Oct 3. I am also planning on doing MNSSHP on the 30th or 2nd. I'm waiting until it gets closer to decide - want to see how the weather is. Both are DVC discount dates so that's good. I'm heading down on Monday but I haven't booked a room yet, I can't decide if I want to stay on site or stay closer to Universal, I'm planning on doing Universal / Island of Adventures on Mon and Tues before the cruise.
I haven't booked my flight yet either, I guess I need to get on the ball.

I am glad to have an extra day at disney and I am hoping to be able to get off the ship with out that sad heavy feeling in my heart! :rotfl:

I was wondering why the Magic was doing a 3 day cruise. Now I know why because it's in drydock and we will be the first ones to experience the new upgrades! I just read that the adult pool will be getting waterfalls that cascade from the hottubs and cushy deck chairs. Also, each stateroom will be given 22 inch flatscreen tv's on rotatable arms for easier viewing. Awesome. I have been on the Wonder twice and this will be my fourth time on the Magic. See you all there! Oh and are any of you Cast Members? I am!:) :) :) :)

i'm not a cast member, but i am a travel agent....and a house builder (apparently). i just got finished building my own home ( i was the GC). wow is it a lot of work! actually, that's how i broke my ankle!
physical therapy is helping alot and i am now able to stand and "bear weight with some forward motion", so i am hopeful that i can "walk" by cruisetime.
we are also going to WDW for a week after the cruise- 3 nights at BCV and 4 nights at AKV. we are going to do MNSSHP on 9/30 or 10/2. don't even ask how i am going to get thru the parks!
we are a family of five...me, DH and DD 8, DS 6.5 and DD 4 (9/16 b-day). we are on a GTY verandah status...so 2 cabins....cat 7,or 6,or 5 for us! when we find out, i'll let you know!
anyone know the shows on board? i was told we would see toy story, twice charmed and the golden mickeys. but i posted this on another thread and was told i was misinformed. i really wanted to see toy story!

Oh I'm sorry to hear about your ankle. But I'm sure you know how accomidating Disney is if you have to use a Wheelchair. You'll have fun no matter what! Your trip sounds awesome! This is justa quick one for us. We are flying in and just doing one day at the parks before the cruise. My best friend is getting married so this is kind of a bachlorette party at sea. Plus, the 25th is my sister's 35th birthday! It's going to be a blast. We don't know what are stateroom number is yet either.
From what I was reading, Toy Story is only on the Wonder. The Magic never does 3 day sailings so they don't really have a normal itinerary for the shows. Just another excuse to go again To see Toy Story!

Ashley have you looked at any of the other boards, why are people so negative!! They are saying that they most likely will have to cancel this cruise because the ship won't be ready. I don't believe it, we have to think positive thoughts so we will be on the ship on 9/24!!

My parents, myself and my younger sister will most likely be on this cruise.
I only say "most likely" because we haven't booked it yet...i think my mom is while i'm writing this....lol.
anyways my mom and I were watching "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" together when we realized the new spin-off series "The Suite Life on Deck" would be premiering this month. I jokingly mentioned that the cruise would probably have some sort of celebration since it is an Original Series (OS) and the first OS on a cruise ship... when i looked up the premier date its set for September 24th!
We'd already been looking at this cruise because it's fresh out of dry-dock, its in an impossibly perfect time period for our family... I was wondering why noone's brought it up already and what anyone else thought might happen in regards to it..

ok so not to sound mean or anything but 1. nobody cares about The suite life thats why nobodys brought it up.. and no there wont be any celebration for it. 1. it doesnt take place on a REAL cruise ship. 2. yes it is an original series but that doesnt mean anything. the only thing that they might do is show it on the big screen by the pool like they do with everything else.. since they keep the disney channel on just like they have the disney channel in the cabins.. and same thing with HSM and Cheetah girls. they dont do anything special cuz theres no reason to.
so i hope you dont have your hopes up expecting something thats not happening.

well, that's a little harsh....
I know my kids would care about something like that....although we are sailing solo this time.
However, Kphelps16, they actually did do something on a previous sailing of the Wonder....so you are right, the did do something!...just on an earlier sailing. I have included the press release:
It’s a “Suite Life” on the Disney Wonder with Disney Channel World-Premiere Event
CELEBRATION, Fla. (Aug. 26, 2008) – Disney Cruise Line will host a red-carpet, world-premiere event for the new Disney Channel original series “The Suite Life on Deck,” a spin-off of the Emmy-nominated “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” on the Disney Wonder cruise ship Aug. 28-31.
During this special premiere at sea, guests sailing will experience a Hollywood-style, red-carpet arrival of some of Disney Channel’s hottest stars, an exclusive sneak-peek of the first episode of “The Suite Life on Deck” and an opportunity to participate in a Question & Answer session with stars of the show. Cast members from “The Suite Life on Deck” scheduled to appear include Cole Sprouse (Cody Martin), Dylan Sprouse (Zack Martin), Brenda Song (London Tipton), Phill Lewis (Mr. Moseby) and Debby Ryan (Bailey Pickett). All events will take place on decks 9 and 10 of the Disney Wonder on Friday, Aug. 29, at the family-friendly Goofy Pool.
“The popularity of Disney Channel shows and stars are at an all-time high,” said Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin. “We’re pleased to partner with Disney Channel for this world-premiere event and share some of the red-carpet excitement with our guests, showcasing that Disney difference only Disney Cruise Line can offer.”
“We’re thrilled to give “The Suite Life on Deck” a fabulous bon voyage celebration aboard the Disney Wonder. The cruise ship setting of the series made the Disney Wonder a great fit to host this event,” said Adam Sanderson, Senior Vice President, Brand Marketing, Disney ABC Networks Group. A day after the world-premiere, and following a day of fun-and-sun on Disney’s private island Castaway Cay, another Disney Channel star will take the stage. Mitchel Musso, star of Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” and “Phineas and Ferb” will perform a mini-concert at the Goofy Pool. At the concert’s end, Musso will spend a few minutes answering questions from the audience.
This marks the first time Disney Cruise Line and Disney Channel have partnered together to develop a multi-day event. It should prove to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for fans of the Disney Channel sailing on the sold-out voyage.

I also agree that was a little harsh. Although this time is a "Girls Only" trip my children love "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and if they were saililng and something was taking place they would make that a must see for us! :yay:
Not much longer guys! Oh, and I looked on Ebay and the fish extenders I saw were being sold for around $45.00. I can't sew my own but don't see spending that money on one either. Any other ideas on something we could us?

I haven't gotten a fish extender yet either. I'm still looking - I may make an attempt at making one. I saw the instructions on a thread, I'm not one to sew but it looked like you could use iron-on interfacing to put it together. Or I may find some thing else to hang out - I heard someone mention finding something in the children's area - a closet organizer type thing.
I'm going shopping this week - I'm on a mission :rotfl:

Thanks for the info about the premiere thing. I just couldn't believe that Disney wouldn't do something to take advantage of a money op....lol.
it would've been great to be on that one too, huh?
Edit:
I also just remembered that I figured out how to make these pretty cool name-plate type things. They'd be great for door decorations.

my mom is now beginning to rock back and forth between this one and the thanksgiving one....
the rest of my family just wants to be on the boat!
i really want to do this one so that i can meet all of you guys and feel like a cruise reviewer...it'll be good practice writing a trip report about this one since its fresh out of dry-dock! everyone on the next one will want a day-by-day update...starting with the initial refurbishments that are most appealing!
plus we've only been on the Magic once...not that they're much different but the Magic always feels more...dare i say it...MAGICal than the WONDERful Wonder....lol
klsdisney
09-08-2008, 03:17 PM
I couldn't agree more! I really love the Wonder but there is something really special about the Magic. Maybe because it's the first one or something. I really can't wait for the two new ships. I wonder what they'll name them. They should do a contest or something. That would be fun.
Kphelps16
09-08-2008, 03:31 PM
lol.
i think that started some intense discussion in my family when they first announced it.
i thought thay'd come up with a new "theme", magic and wonder seem to go together to me now... but i think pretty much everyone else thought it'd be something similar...i guess we'll just have to wait and see.
The one thing that there is absolutely no doubt about is that they will be some of the best ships on the sea...hands down.

Well we finally got our all our docs today!! and Hurricane Ike is just a couple hundred miles off the coast of Houston. We are hoping that we don't have any damage since we leave next Sat for our vacation. The news is making it sounds like there could be some major damage in Houston. We are crossing our fingers!

Brad - Our prayers are with you and your family during this storm. Hope you escape with no damage to your home and neighborhood! Best of luck! :scared: :grouphug: Keep us posted when you can! My sister-in-law lives in Houston and she just emailed us and said she was staying put in her home and was not worried about the storm :confused3 Hopefully, everything will be fine!

Thank you. Definitely ready for Ike to come and go. :yay: I appreciate the thoughts. We are lucky since we are not near the water or a bayou here in Houston. It is already getting windy and there is reports on the news of water coming over the roads in Galveston and other parts of Houston and the storm is 15-20+ hours away. Will keep you updated!

Hello! We are sailing on the 9/27 Magic cruise. Since we are flying in from quite a distance, we are trying to limit how much stuff we bring. So, I just thought that I would check and see if any of you guys are planning to leave behind sand toys when you debark. If so, could you let me know? Thanks so much!

Hi everyone,
4 of us (Bev & Lou, and Lindsay & Brian) were upgraded to balconies (gty) so we do not have our cabin assignments yet. I was told we would get them when we get to the port. If we get them ahead of time, I will post it here. If not, I'll let people know at our DIS meet on the secret deck 7 at 3 pm.
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I know our ship doesn't leave until Wed but we are leaving SC on Tuesday so one more week! :rotfl: We have decided with gas prices that we are going to fly and we booked our flights yesterday. This actually will cost us less than driving! :cool1:
Mariatia3 flew last year to Europe but she is still a little nervous. I flew once when I was five and don't really remember so I am very excited but also very nervous. Our flight down has a stop so for the first leg we are flying on a very small plane. A crop duster they called it! :upsidedow But I am still excited!
Hope everyone is getting in the "Disney Mood" :wizard: as we don't have much longer left!

You will be fine on the small plane and if you get nervous, just picture yourself on the beach at CC with the drink of the day in your hand and it will all seem worth it! :beach:

That very thought is what is getting me through the days this week! Last time I was on CC I discovered a drink at Heads Up called "Under the Sea".. I can just taste it now!!

I leave for the airport in 12 hours - yes, I was stupid enough to book a 6am flight - which I am now regretting, but I wanted to have plenty of time to go to Universal tomorrow.
Oh well, I've been upgraded on both flights, so hopefully I can sleep the entire time down to Orlando. I'm all packed except for my "purse" which is really a big tote back which will have some of my fish extender gifts since they wouldn't all fit in the luggage and what seems like 10K charger cords - who would have thought that you had to carry so much electrical equipment for a vacation.:confused3
I think I have everything I need - except for markers for my pillowcases to get signed - which I figure I will pick up when I get to Orlando.

Hope everyone made it home safely. Thank you everyone for the great F.E. gifts. It was great meeting people on deck 7 and around the ship. We had a fantastic time but it was way tooooo short. Going from a 14 day Disney Cruise to a 3 day Disney Cruise was definitely not long enough. Can't wait until May for my wedding on the Wonder.
