Does anyone know how often the overnight castle stay is awarded? Is it nightly? Also, are they still giving out the extra hour in the park after closing like one of the other threads mentioned, or is that just during slower months?

Don't know about the extra hour, but I'm pretty sure the castle suite is given away every night. :)

Yes, the castle is given away every day.

Well...yes and no. The castle stay isn't awarded to park guests every night. From the official rules:
Three hundred ten (310) ONE-NIGHT STAYS AT CINDERELLA CASTLE SUITE are available: Each prize consists of a ONE-NIGHT STAY ON THE NIGHT PRIZE IS AWARDED for winner and up to five (5) guests at the Cinderella Castle Suite in the Magic KingdomŪ Park. Prize includes: dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table, photos with Cinderella, VIP viewing for SpectroMagic and/or Wishes shows (subject to availability) and select snacks and non-alcoholic beverages in the room. Each winner may also be celebrated in the Magic KingdomŪ Park daytime parade (at Sponsor's sole discretion). ARV of each prize: US$587.
The remaining nights are awarded in other ways, such as for newspaper and radio contests, etc. And then there's the Ultimate New Year's Eve Trip prize, where the winner will spend the night of December 31, 2008, in the suite. :)

Do you really think it will end though? It was extended this year from last year!
I think it has been a very sucessful marketing campaign for Disney... I could see it sticking around!

I agree with you-it's been successful for Disney & wonderful for all of its winners-but they did extend it an additional year, and with the economy today it might help to keep numbers up, but who knows! They seem to come up with lots of ideas maybe they have something even better in store:wizard:

How do they make sure the winners stay in the suite and not sneak out and run around? I'm sure they prob. have guards stationed outside the door.

I'm sure they prob. have guards stationed outside the door. They have a butler and others who wait on them the entire time they're there. If they want to go somewhere (other than just wandering around the park, I presume, which wouldn't be permitted), they'll make it happen.

My neighbors won and were told that if they tried to open a certain window, an alarm would go off. There is someone stationed outside the suite all night, and if they open the doors, this person will ask what he can do to help.
