Toppers & Tags due September 29
This is a simple swap. For each group you're in, you will make an 8-inch title topper and one element choice.

1. Due date is September 29, 2008. That is when I need to receive your package. Mail by date is September 22, 2008, to make sure your package arrives to me.
NOTE: I will be gone from August 16 through August 30th. I will be in Walt Disney World with my family. I don’t know yet if my DH will pay for internet access.
Please pm me your name, DIS name, mailing address, email address and phone number when you sign up (I will only use these in an emergency).
2. You pick your topic when you sign-up
3. Please limit yourself to 2 groups when signing up if I have not swapped with you before.
4. Required: You will make ONE Topper and ONE element choice from the list below for each person in your group. There will be a different number people per group so please double check your amounts.
5. Packing Instructions - use a Ziploc for each person and put everything for that person into their bag. Please label each bag with your DISname, real name and group. Enclose those in the larger (gallon size) Ziploc bag. Please use a gallon sized bag. Your items may fit in a quart, but others may not- be sure to include your name, your DIS name and group. In the larger Ziploc bag please put your mailing address and include return postage.
6. Mailing Instructions- Mail in Priority Mailer & include $4.80 or $9.80 for postage (stamps, cash, check) to return your items. Delivery Confirmation is $0.65.
Please don’t send metered or click-it/ship-it postage – some hostesses have had issues with these. On the outside of your box/envelope please include your DIS name and Swap name in the bottom corner!
7. PM me with your name and address even if you have swapped with me before. If you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help if needed.
8. Most importantly HAVE FUN!! I know we all get worried about our stuff sometimes. I know everything will be GREAT! Just make something you would be proud to have in your own albums, and everyone will love it!!
Ok - here are the elements to choose from (if you have another idea for an element, let me know and I will add it). If you have questions about any of these elements, you can look at the swap glossary link at the top of the swaps board, the swap photo gallery link at the top of the swaps board, or pm me! I'll be happy to help!!
Each item will need to be embellished a minimum of 2 different ways.
NO hand written lettering ANY items. Please use computer fonts, rub-ons, stickers or stamps.
NOTE: Embellished means using brads, eyelets, charms, primas, stickles, ribbon/fiber, 3D stickers (matted stickers/clipart are okay too) or embossing (dry/heat).


The title topper should be 8 inches wide, be double/triple matted, and contain no handwriting. Computer-generated, stickers, or die-cut is fine. Extra embellishments would be great!

The element is to be chosen from the list below:
Photo Mat: 1 PP first/top layer no smaller than 6-1/4 x 4-1/4, double matted and embellished two ways
Journaling Box: 2PP at least a 3x3 writing area, double matted with actual journal area placed on top of the two mats and embellished two ways
Tag: 1 PP for medium or large tags, 2 pp for 2x3 tags, double matted and embellished two ways, include either ribbon/fiber or eyelet/brad in the hole. May include both....the fiber and or eyelet does not count as part of the 2 embellishments.
Embellished Shapes: 3PP 1-1/2x1-1/2 or larger if you wish, double matted and embellished. These can be circles, squares, flowers, etc. be creative. If it is a shape that would not look right double matted please use your best judgment.....Just make up for it in another way. Maybe make a few extra or throw in something extra.
Slide Mounts: 2PP be creative here please
File Folders or Matchbooks: 1 PP if medium size or lager, 2 pp if mini sized. Please make sure to enclose a blank page in the matchbook if this is the element you choose to do.
Bottle Caps: 2PP if metal, 4PP if paper
Library Pocket and Tag: 1PP embellished, no smaller than to hold 2x3 a tag that should have ribbon/fiber or eyelet in the hole
Shaker Box: 1PP be creative please
Paper Piecing: 1PP be creative please
License Plate: 1PP be creative please
Signage/Bookmark: 1PP 2x6, double matted and embellished
Song/Lyric/Poem: 1PP, double matted and embellished
Altered CD cover: 1PP be creative please
Altered letter: matted at least 4 inches
Altered Paper Clips: 3 large size ones

Where is Big River Grille and Brewery(sp?)? I dont think I noticed it on the DDP
and have never heard of it before. What type of resturant is it?

The Big River Grille & Brewing Works is a working micro brewery. Freshly made specialty beers are among the offerings. There are large glass enclosures where you can watch the brewing process. Indoor and outdoor seating. The latter offers limited views of the Illuminations fireworks.

In addition to the house brewed beer, there is a full service bar.

ADRs are not accepted at this Boardwalk restaurant.

Nope. Don't need the choice. Everyone is doing something different in regards to topic/theme. It doesn't matter to me if you do all tags or all lyrics. Everything will most likely be on different pages when we scrap them. Besides, when you start to make them, you might get inspired to do something different and I don't want anyone to wait on me for the okay.

if we don't have enough kids to fill the groups, maybe you could consider making the kid groups 5 each instead of 6?

question about the kiddo stuff.....should it look just like something we grown-ups (wait, we're grown-ups?? ;) ) would hand in (in other words, we help a TON) or will they look (at least a little bit) like a kid did it. I'm fine either way, I just want to know! :)

PirateBoy will need tons of help. I will help him type his title on the computer by writing it out for him to copy. I will help him adjust font. I will place paper in cutter for him to cut. I don't know if he will be able to ink edges or not. I know the QK pirate ship we are going to use, I already have assembled. It will probably go on a journal box which again will be straight cuts. We will probably make tags. He can help me put the paper on the mat and I will show him what buttons to press.

Do you think that is independent enough for him?

This will totally depend upon the child. WyFy can do it all on his own. It'll probably have some crooked pieces when he assembles the paper piecing, but mine have crooked pieces too. :lmao: Those things can be hard to line up. Little Bit however, will need lots of help but won't accept it. Meaning Mommy here will be making an extra element to put in the group to make up for him not letting me help.

That sounds like it is the perfect partnership.

I use glue dots to hold on your buttons and ribbons too...
I use a tape runner, xyron, adhesive squares.. just make sure they are acid free... I've used double stick tape before too...

When do we find time to use these works of art.. LOL You are so funny.. actually if you ask the girls most of us are collectors who will one day use these works of art!!! I've started to put a dent into my collection...but I still have a LONG way to go before I run out of items!!!

I use double-sided tape for adhering layers (photo mats etc.) otherwise Xyron, glue dodts and photo squares. Or precision point glue.

We do run a regular "scrapping with swapped items" competition - once you've got some swaps backsign up for the next round. :goodvibes:

I use a tape runner or double sided tapes for many layers (photo mats, toppers, ect. For adhering things like buttons and other shaped items I generally use glue dots. For things like layers in paper piecings I use pop dots or my xyron. I also use glue dots or glue lines for ribbon.
