Quick question: What's the best place to stay in Buffalo the night before our flight leaves?
Holiday Inn? Comfort Inn? DaysInn?
Would love to include a park and fly. Not too expensive but preferably no cockroaches that will carry you off either. Thanks in advance!

We stayed at the Best Western right by the Sleep Inn. Free breakfast, park for up to two weeks, car stays at the hotel, not driven to an off site lot, shuttle to and from the airport all for $119 (I think). Highly recommended.

The best price for a decent hotel I have found is at the Sleep Inn ~ it is behind Denny's just past the airport off Genessee Street.

Thanks for the tip! Do you know if these rates include parking? Can you book online or do you have to phone? When I tried booking online, I couldn't find any info on park & fly, but I may have missed it?

When are you traveling? I usually book it on my agency computer ~ I can check our rates for you if I have the date.

We stayed at the Millenium last month -- none of us slept well, the bathroom was a little gross and we were glad that we had an early flight out the next morning.

We did see a brandnew hotel right across the street from the airport, but I can't remember what kind. I just know we said we'd stay there next time!

Thank you!!! Am I able to book that Sleep Inn rate online (or phone), or do I need to go through a local travel agent? I asked my travel agent about a hotel about a month ago, and she couldn't find anything for less than $175. Thanks again for your assistance!! :goodvibes

Your travel agent should be able to get the rate through their airline computer system (I am on Sabre).....if not just PM and I can book it for you at no cost.

Before I book a hotel I always check out tripadvisor dot com. The reports come from people who have stayed there and rate them. A few years ago we stayed overnight (can't remember where) and it worked out great. If you have an early flight ask how early the breakfast is. We had to leave at 6am and they had some breakfast stuff out...yogurt, cereal, fruit, coffee and tea. It was a god send.

Happy planning!!

Does anyone know if these hotels that allow you to park for up to two weeks have a secure lot or is your vehicle just in the regular parking lot for that amount of time? I've read that the Airport Lot is secured, I wonder if I should be concerned about parking at a hotel that doesn't offer that?

No the lots are not secure. They are just open air parking lots like any hotel around here, and anyone could see them. We wondered that also in March as we stayed at the comfort in across from the airport but we just took the lowest rate (89 i think) and then drove across to the airport and parked...it was under 60.00 for 10nights. Its so easy to park and fly at the airport there and I wouldn't want to leave my car at the hotel and then wait for a shuttle etc to get over and get it.
I prefer to park at the airport .... JMO though.

We stayed at the Sleep Inn and were happy. Beds weren't the most comfortable - but the staff were wonderful.

We used the Sleep Inn a few weeks ago. We paid $122 and parked the car for 1 week. Don't recall if they let you park it for 2 weeks but I'm sure you can arrange it. I had to call for the reservation. You can do regular reservations online but if you want the park and fly option, you must call them.

The hotel itself is directly across the street. Shuttle took about 2-3 minutes to drive to the airport and most of that was spent at a red light waiting to turn right. Breakfast was included and it included make your own waffles. They were delicious.

When we came back, we used the courtesy phone at the baggage area and they were there to pick us up within minutes. They took us directly to the car which was parked in their lot about 30 seconds away from the hotel. And... they made sure our car would start before they drove off. All staff were pretty friendly.

Room itself was pretty ordinary. Washroom was...well, it was clean...but kinda small. You're only there for 1 night so it's not a big deal. It was clean and that's what counts.

As for the security of the lot. We wondered about it too. When we were through using the car the night before, we told them we were ready to park the car. We followed their shuttle bus to the parking lot which was down the street and in this rather dark lot (with huge pot holes) and parked under one bright light. There were other cars in the lot too...most from Ontario. We really wondered about the security but the shuttle driver, sensing our paranoia, assured us that the lot was safe. When we returned from our trip, we noticed that the lot was next to a business that was operating during the day (we didn't see this during the cover of night) which meant that during the day, the lot wasn't deserted.

I'd use them again.

Hi there, I just booked the Sleep Inn by calling the hotel directly. It was $109.00 for parking, breakfast, and shuttle to airport. I believe their phone number is on the hotel home page.

It did state on the website to call for park, sleep and fly rates. I thought $109.00 for up to 4 people wasn't bad at all!!

Good luck!!:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. I did end up using Sleep Inn and received 2 weeks parking. No problems at all. In fact, the shuttle was waiting for us at the airport when we arrived back to Buffalo and we were driven directly to our car. From the time we got off the plane, got our luggage, and got driven to our car - the whole process took 25 minutes! I'll definitely use them again.

I honestly don't think you'd have a problem in the hotel's private lot but then again, we didn't drive a brand new car with us. LOL We drove my friend's car and it had to be over 10 years old. The shuttle driver who took us to our car from the airport said that the lot was pretty safe but she she made a point of saying that people do prefer to park in the airport lot (the one directly across the street from the hotel.... and she did drop somebody off in that lot before dropping us off at the hotel's lot down the street) but that they have no control over that lot whereas they do over their private lot. Dunno how that makes it safer but she seemed to think it did.

What I liked about them was that she made sure the car started before she drove off. The people that were dropped off in the airport lot couldn't start their car. She radioed that in, told them she was coming back after she dropped the rest of us off. That's pretty nice and comforting to know.

Ask them if they have two lots too. The people she dropped off were in a gated lot but I don't know if they paid extra for it. or not.
