I don't think this is required.... but I wanted to start this for anyone who wants to utilize it.. if you are like me... I'm trying some different things and want input before I finalize..

Here is my American Adventure Completed Page 12x12..
http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t24/PrincessNancy96/000_0099.jpg

Does it look okay? Need something more? Suggestions?

I think under the 4x6 portrait photo mat.. I may put.. USA in 2 tone letters...

TFL!!!

Great Nancy! I agree -- the letters USA or even stars in the open spot would be good. (I'm not even in this group!)

Do you have the Dreams Come True cartridge? You could make a flying carpet or a genie lamp or a Moroccan type castle with the Jasmine/Aladdin stuff.

PN96- The pages look great. I think adding the stars would make the page pop.

Ok, all this flock is making me wonder what in the world is flock? Should I go google it?

BTW, the dishes do not talk at my house, but the kids sure do a lot of it while I'm disboarding....

Isn't it funny the kids can find everything to discuss as soon as we hit the DIS... :confused3
Flock.. is a new (to us) embellishment thingy like glitter.. google fun flock.. it's almost like a fuzzy texture for elements... I almost won 15 bottles on ebay but somebody came in and stole it out from under me in the last minute.. I went nuts.. flockin' nuts! I was so bummed...haven't been back on ebay since...

Very cool... I'm going to finish the sports swap tonight and get to work on this one.
I have lots of ideas but I have been suffering from Pixie Dust hang-over this week. I snapped right out today when DH booked our next trip- adults only in December to see the decorations, candle light processional and so some christmas shopping!

I went to the LSS and picked up some bottles of flock - the doodlbug ones. $4.99 for the bottle. Gosh I hope a little goes a long way. I got two bottles of white because WyFy is going to make paper piecings of Donald and one of red, maybe to use on the Christmas complete pages.

A little DOES go a long way. I have Fun Flock, which is about the size of a film canister. I made 15 Sulley's and maybe 1/5 of the turquoise is gone. Less of the purple, and the white I used for the Santa hats barely looks touched.

I told you, you have 5 years to plan my 40th birthday party. We can all go the second week in Dec, I'll wait. ;)

That should be enough time for everyone to get their plans in gear enough to go! The boards will be so dead. LOL

I feel like a kid here! I am almost a year older than DBF and he reminds me of it everyday! I've got 8.5 years until 40, but I plan on stopping at 35. I decided that a long time ago because I knew that I wanted to at least be old enough to become the President some day.

I'm glad you guys created this page. I was beginning to feel nervous about my 12x12 pages. I'll see how much I can get done tonight and hopefully post a prototype for France later. The letters are almost all cut out.

It's funny you all are discussing ages - I was wondering about that since it looks like most of you have kids (and I don't, which sometimes makes me feel still like a kid). But it looks like I am (barely) the baby in this group - that depends when mla1977's birthday is. I am 31, and will be turning 32 this year. I always tell those younger than me to stop at 26 - that was a good year, and a turning point in my life. So I wish I would have stopped counting then!

Oh, and if when you all are planning your Dismeet, I am still in Tampa, FL - I would LOVE to meet with you all to celebrate too!

All these old people...:rotfl: I'm 32, until December.

The two slowest times to visit WDW are September and Jan/Feb up until President's Day. But September is flocking hot. And January can be on the cold side, but sometimes you get lucky and it's warm, and it's not as wet. The first two weeks of December are pretty slow too, but less so as they keep booking pop warner/cheerleading stuff at that time.

Having young children helps. I had my first right before I turned 30. If I would have had him right before 20, he would be 20 this year instead of 10.:faint: I could've been on my way to being a grandma.

I'm 31. My b-day is in January. DBF is 30 with a November b-day, but he immigrated here from Asia, so that isn't his real b-day. He always tries to claim that he was born in the year of the dragon. I tell him it is impossible unless he wants to admit to being older than me. I was born at the end of the year of the dragon. He is a snake. :)

My BFF and partner in cropping crime is 36 hours younger than me. I keep bugging her to come over to these boards, but she is active on two peas.

Mickeyteacher

Ok, so I celebrated the 3rd anniversary of turning 30 this year.
I vote for an early November celebration- it is not to cold, decorated for the hoildays and not to crowded. On the home front fall sports are almost over, play-off have not begun, winter sports have not started yet, before the hoildays and we can all slip away to do some holiday shopping that weekend.

Here is my swap items - a little late for them to be prototypes (since they are already packed and ready to go Monday morning...

These are for the Elements Only, Group 3: Anything Epcot - Food & Wine Festival. There is a photomat with the chef hat & utensil popped, title (chef writing on chalk board), and shaker box (champagne glass with clear beads and a "bubbly" tag). Then i didn't feel the photo mat was fancy enough, so I added the journalling box. The inner sticker on the journalling box may be different for yours (3 different types).

Here is my Character Spot

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm92/SwappinDISer/GEDC0537-1.jpg

I made two mats that are triple layered and inked since I didn't double layer the topper.

The topper was hand cut and then the title and Mickey flash were colored using glaze markers - it gives it a shiny embossed looked. It is about 5 by 5

The monogram C is machine stitched and inked in red on the bottom mat.

Hope the topper is okay.

This group is done.

I'm sure I am safe in saying that most of us hostess appreciate creativity. You made up for any deficiences that someone might perceive by making the extra photo mat.
Personally, I like odd toppers. But not everyone can make them, I'm included in this group, so the minimum requirements of double matting help make those boring ones a little bit more substancial than just a rectangle of paper.

Ok, so I celebrated the 3rd anniversary of turning 30 this year.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

In my exhausted and getting sick state, when I first read this I multiplied 30 times 3 instead of adding them! For a second I thought there was a very spry 90 year old out there swapping! Then I got my wits about me and figured it out. Good thing for that accounting degree!

I'm 38 myself!

Ok. I am embarrassed to admit that I just used the calculator on my computer to figure out my age. (Remember: I am a dork...). It turns out that I am 37, not 38, as I was about to type. Imagine that...They say the mind the is third thing to go...:rolleyes1

lol I have to use a calculater the other day. Since my birthday is Tuesday someone asked me how old I am going to be and i couldn't remember if i was turning 36 or 37.. I'm turning 36 just for the record.. http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm204/tkevey/old.gif

Well -- you are looking good then. I had you pegged as my sister's age -- 33 or 34.

Susie, can you tell me more about these pens?

I used the souffle ones on the Zebra cut out for the zoo tags. They make a shiny raised area. Not as raised as a real heat embossing, but they also don't leave any spider dirt either.

The metallic glazed ones I've only used a little bit. They don't look as obviouse as the souffle ones, but then I might not be doing it right.

I got my on ebay because they were way too expensive from Hobby Lobby for just experimenting with. But I do think you could use a 40% off coupon on them and that would make them more reasonable.

I got mine at ACM -- 14.99 but I used a coupon. The packaging: Glaze 3D ink, by Sakura. THere is a website listed -- sakuraofamerica.com. The package has white, black, blue, red (although it is a little on the pink side), green, yellow, paech, pink and light pink, light purple. I noticed that scrapbookpal.com sells the pens individually. 25$ free shipping, super fast too. When the assortment pack of flock is back in stock I will order from them again.

AWM -- you have metallic colors? Is it also sakura?

::yes::
Same brand, less pens inside. Red, lt & dk blue, green, silverish, white. I don't like this white at all. It's very see thru. They are called glossy, but they look metallic to me.

I know why you don't like the white. I read the back of my package -- it's not white! It is supposed to be clear. Good news -- I asked scrapbookpal when they were getting the assortment pack of Flock -- they had 2 left, so I got one!!! Should be here by the end of the week. Along with a Sepia colored glossy pen, pink glimmer mist? don't know what it is, but I hope it works well. Thinking about using it for Princess topper. and two chalk ink cat's eye pads

Think spray on shimmery see-thru colored chalk.
You can use it as an all-over effect or use it with stencils, either as negative space or as the inner space.

I have something like the glimmer mist - I got it before glimmer mist came out. It works better on darker paper but it adds a sparkle of glitter in the color all over. Since you spray it can be heavier in areas. I have used it on some of my elements. I don't remember which ones though- I know I used it on last summer abc but other than that I am not sure.

This is my first shaker box, very exciting!

I got the shaker box today.

It is even cuter than the picture. She wrapped ribbon all around the outside, so there are NO unfinished edges showing.

I can't wait to put this to paper. Hoping for good photos from our ADR at Cali Grill. :thumbsup2

Thank you!

buffy i love all three pages. a couple of questions for you...

the morocco letters? where are they from????

and the soarin' topper? how did you make it? i love it!

BernardandMissBianca
07-20-2008, 08:54 PM
The Morocco title is from Stone Script, one of the solutions cart.

And the Soarin' title is the cloud from Mickey and friends (the sun key). I cut those out, then printed the Soarin' image on it. Then just inked the edges. I tried to find a font that looked like Soarin' but I couldn't so I went with clip art.

thanks i love them both! i don't know how in the world you lined up the clip art but it looks perfect!

BernardandMissBianca
07-20-2008, 09:11 PM
I cut the clouds out first. Printed the clip art on a piece of paper, taped the clouds over the clip art (used a light box or a window to line it up) then printed again.

well i just love it!!! i think that was one of our favorites from last year. i don't know why but epcot was our best day last trip. 10 days- we did the mk, dak, mgm, epcot, seaworld, downtown disney, resort hopping, pirate party...i mean we did a lot and epcot was our fav day. we spent quite a bit of time in the land pavilion because my little man was having an asthma issue so we chilled out there so he could do his puffer and relax for a little bit and we enjoyed that down time. (not enjoying his asthma attack mind you :scared1: )
it was really a nice quiet spot.and we had reservations at the garden grill so we then had dinner and after dinner we went and took pictures at the "pretty waters" as bubba calls it. if you ask him his fav day he will tell you "fcot"!

*something i never want to forget*

thanks for the memory bamb. i needed it today!

I've never been either, but I sure do love the way the dinos match the paper.
