Since it's been over a month now since VMK has been closed, I'm curious where everyone is spending their most time. I have signed up for several games like Gaia, SmallWorlds, VFK etc. but at the moment the majority of my time is spent on Gaia. So which game do you spend the most time on?

None but I am glad not to be addicted to anything in particular

Smallworlds.

Although, I spend more of my time playing on the xbox with friends than online.

I'm having a great time over at Gaia with you guys!! I am also keeping an eye on Elf Island and may check out their Beta when it opens.

Been tinkering in many, but SmallWorlds is pulling me more than any others. (Although it saddens me that VFK has not captured me - I really wanted that to be home.)

I definitely agree with that last part.

Though I haven't tried many games, I'm really enjoying SmallWorlds and I expect to stick with that one. However, I might move to FusionFall if its beta is good (once the beta goes public).

POTC (but at level 39 and almost mastered in everything my time there has dwindled to nothing) and Wizard101 Beta. I tried SmallWorlds but I don't like the social celebrity aspects of it. Wizard101 is really nice and I love playing it along side Alias (Will). VFK - well, umm, I'm wondering now if there are any ppl at Devry just starting in the Games program who can volunteer to help them out. I wanted that to be my home, but the bugs...the BUGS....well, annoy me to no end.

SmallWorlds, but I'm considering it to be more of a 3D webpage/display than a game. I enjoy fiddling around with the decor and the widgets. I'm not into arcade games and tournaments though, so I may not be spending a whole lot of time there.

Other games with good graphics all seem to be "level up", which just doesn't have any magic for me.

Which leaves.........really nothing else. :(

Smallworlds has the most appeal to me at the moment. I go to VFK every so often to bird hunt but the graphics there are poor compared to smallworlds and I love the pets at SW. I also love how I could customize my room to make it a Disney room.

I've tried several, most only once. Smallworlds holds the most interest for me and will probably be my main 'home'. I just started on Gaia a couple of days ago - it's interesting enough to keep me going back, but I'm not going to spend real money on it. I still pop in to VFK every couple of days, because I really want it to succeed.

A lot of my time has been spent on a different type of game - griddlers. Griddlers are logic art puzzles, where you use number clues around a grid to figure out what color each square should be, and you end up wiht a picture when you're done.

I, too, had high hopes for VFK, but have been drifting from there... Smallworlds' graphics are great... but I wish there were some other way to earn credits besides missions. I'm terrible at games and was stuck at the first game (Popaloon?) for the longest time. Frustrating, not fun.

I've just today logged in to Wizard 101... but I think all the chat is canned, so there's a down side for me.

Maybe my garden will actually get the attention it deserves this summer. :)

Right now for me it's Ravenwood, Smallworlds, and some VFK.
I've definitely gotten sucked into Ravenwood! Even Smallworlds has taken a bit of a backseat for me at the moment. ;)

I'd love to try Wizard101 but I haven't gotten a beta invite. I split my time between PotCO and SW. I love Pirates but I can't do that at work so I log into SW there for an occasional chat break between projects.

I log into SocioTown, VFK and Gaia regularly. I do that mainly because I know that there are a lot of VMK people in all of those places not really because I find the games themselves very engaging. I want to be where you guys are. Could we make up our collective minds please?

Aww!
Unfortunately, no one game will give us all what each of us wants out of it. That's why VMK was so perfect. It provided each of us with what we are looking for in a game.

I spend most of my time on Gaia. I can at least play the games and earn gold at all times. I also frequent SW. But it's emphasis on social climbing and the fact that I have to wait on missions to earn any tokens is kind of a turn off for me. Plus, while the graphics are great, my computer is too slow and it's causing a lot of lag for me. :( Also, it seems that I'm never really on when there's many people on. And when I am on, I spend most of it alone in my room. :(

VFK I haven't been on much. It' just not enough for me to really enjoy. It's hit or miss meeting up with friends right now.

In essence, no one game is going to give me what I want. Also, what I really want is that Disney Park magic. And no games will provide that unless they are done by Disney. Unfortunately, none of their current games gives that to me.

I'm only playing VFK now. Then again I'm only playing when I don't have to fight with my boyfriend for my computer so I can get the game. He is playing VFK at least ten times more than he did VMK.

We checked out the other games that are popular with DISers, but weren't drawn to any of them. We are looking forward to checking out Elf Island when it opens. The home page looks nice and hopefully the game graphics have a similar look.

I also don't really like games where you have to "level up" so for me, Small Worlds is the best option. You can design rooms and chat freely with your friends. However, it's not really a "family" game" if that's what you are looking for.

I totally agree with everything you said (except for Gaia). I don't know if Disney really knows/cares how much this game meant to all of us. It's unbelieveable that a game can suck us in so much that we can't find a game to replace it. Some may want VFK or another game to be just like VMK, well not me. VMK was a special part of family time that was so unique that I don't want a copycat site.

For some reason they don't bother me nearly as much as VMK's infamous "You'll be the envy of the kingdom!"

I'm having the same experience as far as running into others when I'm on; it doesn't seem to happen very often. I'm surprised it would make that much difference, but perhaps the fact that it's open 24/7 and there are no scheduled events decreases our chances of catching each other.

I'll be sure to stop and say hi if I see you; please feel free to do the same! I get lonely in my room sometimes too.

No place to call home yet .. but I've dabbled in all of the games that everyone else has tried. All the games have a little of something that I like.

I enjoy the social atmosphere of SW and the freedom to chat with friends, but it's all a little too real-life and I miss the fantasy aspect. Build a bear has alot of the same atmosphere as vmk, and I enjoy the collecting aspect of it, but the games kinda suck.

I check out vfk once in a while but the graphics in the game are basic and boring. Ravenwood is really cool and I love the faire games but I have a feeling I'm over my head on this one, I also feel alone in the game, everyone is rushing by doing something, and hardly any chatting is going on. However, it is challenging, and seems like the only game I keep going back to.

Loving POTCO! I consider that my home since I can't seem to stay off it :teeth:

I'll go on SmallWorlds or VFK, but don't spend much time on them since I have nothing to do in either game (hate those arcade games in SW and am too lazy to find my way to the bird game in VFK) :rotfl2:

I've been playing Gaia, VFK, and SW. I also have a very neglected webkinz pet. It has been about a 40-40-20 split of my gaming time. SW gets the short end only because they were the last game I joined.

The thing I like most about Gaia is I can list items in the Marketplace and earn gold while I am not even playing. :thumbsup2 There are also great items for the avatars. The thing I like least about Gaia, there is no jump to friend option. Also, having only one room is a big adjustment.

I've learned some of the birds, so that aspect of VFK isn't too bad for me. It's also nice to see some familiar faces there. I love the new guest room with the fireplace. I'm curious to see how this game pans out in the next few months. I was not much of a gamer until I joined VMK, so seeing the development of a game interests me.

Although I have not spent much time in SW, I do like it. They have some great items and public rooms. I can see where the appeal of the photo frame, stereo and pets. If you happen to see me in SW, please stop by. I still need to get 3 people to my room for that mission. One thing I feel they could do to give more "tokens" would be add a feature like similar to Webkinz. In Webkinz if you play and win a game in a public or private room, you earn cash. These games includes air hockey, bowling and checkers. Wouldn't it be great to play pool or arcade games in your own room and earn tokens?

Over the next few months I will revisit my choices and hopefully narrow things down. Three online games is too much for me. ;)

My home now is Wizards 101. My character's majoring in Storm and minoring in Ice. Fire elf hunters are currently driving me mad, they are so persistant and hardly ever get fizzles.

Tried SmallWorld and Gaia. A bit boring for my taste even if the Gaia avatars are brilliant.

:rotfl2: LOVE IT!! :rotfl2:

Anyway sorry I have been away.

Right now I am waffling between SocioTown and Wizards 101.

SocioTown provides me with a open chat and the ability to just sit and talk with friends in a low pressure environment. I don't feel the need to do something to move forward in the game, because for me it is more about the chilling with friends.

Wizard 101 on the other hand gives me some action and adventure when i need a game. For me it is more of a game than a chat. Your always on the move always trying to complete that next quest. Its like the complete opposite of SocioTown. When they reset the game tonight I will definatly go back.

Smallworlds has a lot of that Disney feel. You have the ability to build and play. The chat is free and open which I like. Waiting till they reset the game before I go back. When is this happening?

VFK has been a huge disappointment to me, not sure if I will go back.

Gaia I never gave a fair shot to because of time constraints

And any online Disney game will never see my face for quite some time. :snooty:

Did you know you *can* chat in Wizard? (I couldn't figure this out myself :rolleyes1 ) If you hit the "Enter" key, a chat line opens on the bottom of your screen. It's still hard to chat though, I'll agree. Ppl are running alot and the chat screens aren't always easy to read. (overlapping and vanishing quickly)

I can't really get into smallworlds, although I like going and meeting with the dis people, my webkinz keeps getting sick, and vfk.............. well. I'm not sure what to say about vfk. I had such high hopes and it has been a big let down. I realize that even for my kids it is a let down. When I mentioned the pay option, the kids said for what? So, no we didn't pay and I think we log on for quest and that's about all.

Well it's not really a game. But me and my friends have been on IMVU alot since VMK closed. Sorta like Instant Messaging only with live-like avatars. I really like it. It's not for younger kids though. It's for ages 13 and up. :thumbsup2 Also, you have a choice to pay or not. If you don't pay you have Guest_ in front of the game you picked out if you don't pay, can't design anything on there (like clothes, avatar heads, furniture, pets, ect.).

So far, I've tried VFK, Build-a-bearville and SocioTown.

I play a little of those each day but the majority of my time is on Build-a-Bearville. When I get bored of one game there, I just try another because they have plenty to pick from. Build-a-Bearville is really good about supplying us with new toys to keep us busy there and I love the VMK feel it has to it. Last night, I met Maxine Clark (the CEB of Build-a-Bear) playing online and she was super friendly. The game is still in beta, but it is nice to see the all the support this game has so far from the company owner, the development of new games/items and the super quick response to bugs.

If I need to chat easier, I log into SocioTown but have reached a plateau as far as new stuff to do there in the Free mode. At this point, it is not much more than a fancy chat room to me.

VFK has really added a lot in the short time so far, but the aggrevation from bugs and lack of appealing games hasn't drawn me in much.

I might try SmallWorlds if I ever get bored.

Sigh, I can't seem to find a place to be a new home. SocioTown was too hard on my vision, and well, the tasks they want you to do didn't interest me much (especially those that reguire you to be chose between being mean to one computer person or the other). SmallWorld I was enjoying, but it ran out of things to do. Without a way to get more credits unless I do mules, I can't even finish my room. I'm not much into arcade games, music and youtube videos. And it has, well, a "party in the bar" type atmosphere that just doesn't fit me. I do enjoy connecting with so many friends. VFK just makes me sad. Its bugs and imcomplete infrastructure makes it really annoying. It being set up to really push with the have-versus-the-have-nots divide makes me sad to watch, I hated that in VMK too. Build-a-bear, well, it really should be for the kids, and I'll not ever be spending real money on it so it would always be limited for me. Same with Webkinz. I put in a request for Wizards, but haven't received it yet. I don't hold out much hope though, sounds like it will be too much fighting and too much to understand for poor simple little me. Just like Pirates OnLIne, just too much fighting and too difficult to learn before you can settle in and just play. And once again, I don't have the real money to spend, so I'll always be limited in the subscription-option games to the lower access free level. After a brief check on some of the games like SW and VFK, I'm learning to just turn off the computer and walk away. Which probably is a good thing.

Ahhh...don't give up yet. I have been bouncing around too trying to find the right game. I thought it was going to be Smallworlds until I got the Popaloon mission. Being arcade game challenged, I simply cannot do that. I hope you get your e-mail for Wizard 101 soon. Believe me, if I can do it, anyone can do it. :wizard:

I don't care for arcade games or tournaments either. Perhaps I'm missing the fantasy element.I put in a request for Wizards, but haven't received it yet. I don't hold out much hope though, sounds like it will be too much fighting and too much to understand for poor simple little me. Just like Pirates OnLIne, just too much fighting and too difficult to learn before you can settle in and just play.I put a request in for Wizards today; somewhat out of desperation. I like fantasy but I'm not a big fan of combat-based play. Maybe someone can tell me if there's more to do than just that? I'm also wondering how long it's been taking players to get accepted. After a brief check on some of the games like SW and VFK, I'm learning to just turn off the computer and walk away. Which probably is a good thing.I'm spending time with other projects too, but oh, how I miss that shared experience. I keep wondering if there's something else out there, but the last thing I need is to get sucked in by something that I have to schedule my time around.

I have seen it posted a few times so I just thought it might be beneficial to be seen here. Wizards combat is a card game. The beta does not permit us to post pictures or you would see it, but I just thought people who dont play would like to know its not really a combat game. combat is more chance and strategy with cards.

Runescape is easy enough.

Click the sword.
You have equipped a sword!

Click a devil
You have killed an imp! You get one experience point. If you kill 13,019 more, you might gain a new level!

Click a man
You have killed a man. Yay?

Click the axe.
You have equipped an axe.

Click a tree.
You have chopped down a tree and are contributing to global warming. If you chop down 13,019 more, Al Gore will come to your house and punch you in the face.

Click a devil.
You have killed an imp, but this time you did it with an axe! Way to shake things up, you crazy cat.

Click a bow.
Sorry, you have no arrows. How about you spend the next three hours mining copper and then selling it so that you can buy some?

Mine copper.
You have mined 13,019 copper ores. Isn't that enough?

Sell copper.
OK, 1 h@s 13019 c0pp3r 0r3s 10k @ut0!

1 st1ll h@s 13017 c0pp3r 0r3s 10k @ut0!

Use money acquired to buy arrows.
You have bought five arrows.

Equip bow and arrows.
You have equipped a bow, and you have arrows too! We're making some progress.

Click a devil.
You do not have sufficient arrows to kill the imp. You may now watch the imp kill you.

Die.
You just lost everything in your inventory except for your sword, axe, and bow.

Rinse
Lather for two minutes. Massage the scalp.

Repeat.

I enjoy both games. Right now I am playing Gaia a lot more than vfk. I think vfk will improve as they go. So willing to wait. I am excited to get my horse. I hope the wait won't be much longer. :) I spend real cash on both games. But I spent real cash on vmk too. Those code cards were not free :)

Oh and about Gaia. I tend to stay away from the general forums and places where the avatars meet up like the rally. Some real trashy things are on those. My daughter plays. But has been told to stay away from those areas. She stays busy will the games and dressing her avatar, etc. I also watch her really close. So not a kid friendly site unless monitored. In fact a girl posted a graphic photo of herself on one of the forums yesterday. :(

For those of you that play POTC I have a couple of questions. I really love the game and was wondering if most of you have the unlimited access and if it is worth it?

Also can more than one person be on an account? For instance can my son and I both play on each computer on the one account? This is probably a no but it doesn't hurt to ask. :)

That's even true for neopets, but only like 50,000 of them are actually playing.

I can answer your questions. I play pirates a LOT... probably too much ;)

I find unlimited well worth it. On basic membership, you run out of quests and ability to level up very quickly.

Most of us in our guild have unlimited. I find that those who have basic get bored and don't sign in as often :(

We've doubled up our memberships in our guild - meaning one person pays and another plays free. You actually can have 4 characters so 4 people could play on one paid account (however, we find we each like to have 2 characters). There's a little secret to it though - you and your son have to link your two accounts together so that you each have your own individual log-ins. PM KrazyPete or Iris here on the DIS and either one can explain how it's done. (I'm obviously one who is playing on an unlimited account for free so not quite sure how they did it, but yay, thanks Petez! :woohoo: )

Thank you very much, I appreciate the quick answer. It really would be worth it if we can both play on one account at the same time, I will PM those you suggested. Thanks again!! :thumbsup2

I clicked on the ad at the bottom of one of the Dis board pages and went to this site. I thought it was going to be Gaia based on the pictures in the ad but it is something different. Is anyone familiar with this game?
