NEWS: Reservations begin for Kidani Village 8/10/08 for AKV Owners

Members who call Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas "home" may call Member Services beginning on Aug. 10, 2008, to make vacation reservations for stays beginning on May 1, 2009, at the resort's Kidani Village accommodations, pictured above under construction. Those reservations become available to all Members within the 7-month booking window.

Membership at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas includes accommodations both at Jambo House (the existing resort building) and Kidani Village.

Kidani Village will feature dedicated Disney Vacation Club accommodations, a new pool and water-recreation area, a new African spice routes-inspired restaurant called Sanaa (Swahili for artwork) and other amenities.

So existing AKV owners will get about a 2 month window ahead of the other resorts to book Kidani. (everyone else could do October 1 for a May 1 check-in).

We have just got 2 weeks booked in AKV Jambo and from 26th April to 8th May but would be nervous about being among the first there if we moved our second week. Has anyone got experience for the early days for opening what could we expect or are we better off staying in Jambo and going over to use the pool? Would we be allowed to even?

I'm with you. People always love to be the first, not me...

I'll wait until the rush and wet paint smell is over. The DW can't stand the smell of fresh carpet glue and we would rather wait until everything is completed and the contractors are gone.

We also want to wait until the Founders Tapestry is put on display. :thumbsup2

I'm in a concierge in May, too, and I'm not switching....who knows when I'll ever win the concierge lottery again? I'm planning on Kidani in Nov 09...

Good to hear that the opening is on schedule! We're planning an Aug 09 trip and are really hoping for a 2BR--either Jambo or Kidani will do, as long as we can stay at AKV. We own at SSR and this news makes it look like we don't need to worry about not having the 11 month advantage.

We are booked for March '09 hoping the Kidani would open early. We may have to cancel and go in May for the Flower and Garden festival.

I'm hoping for a Kidani 1br later in May....wish me luck as I'll have to book at 7 months. We would be fine in Jambo House, but I'd really love the extra bathroom in the 1br.

We too have a concierge studio for a week in May and am not switching...but we plan to stay about a month, so I may possibly use some more AKV points to book during that month in Kidani. We plan to resort hop, going from AKV to BWV to BCV and back to AKV.

Looks like I may have to cancel my concierge studio that I had from Dec 14-19 though.

We will have to kick the tires and check it out in Aug. 09. We are going to do a three night stay in a 2-bedroom villa before heading down to Vero Beach. I am looking forward to checking out the dedicated 2-bedroom vs. the 2-bedroom at Jamba House. We stayed in the 2-bedroom in May and loved the space, and at Kindani I hear they are bigger.

I asked, and as far as they know, all of the resort services (bar/pool/food) will be open at that time and it is expected that half of the rooms will be available but that is uncertain. They did not know which wing (horn?) would be completed first, but he guessed that it was NOT the new savana section.

My DH and I became DVC members yesterday. We are so excited we are giong to stay at the new Animal Kingdom Villas ,Kidani Village can't we will be home in Sept 09.
