I am making some pillowcases for our trip. I am planning on using the iron on transfers. I was hoping for tips before I do it. Any suggestions or recommendations? TIA!

I would love to know this also. We want to use the photo transfer paper to decorate a pillowcase for the girls on my DD's team.

I made 2 several years ago for my son to take to school for naptime.
I just bought travel size pillows for Bed, Bath & B or was it Linen & Things, and I bought the ready made cases they had there to fit them.
Then I scanned his blanket, which was a gift from his Aunt. C
I printed it out using an inkjet onto transfer paper, then followed the directions for ironing.
My mistake was using regular transfer paper on a navy blue pillowcase. So I had to go buy the dark transfer kind & it worked.
After a school year of washings it began to crack and fade though.
This was 6 years ago so the transfer papers may have improved. I just bought some for laser printers at Hobby Lobby and I want to try it agin for this trip. I'll let you know how it goes.

Right now i am working on two cross stitch pillowcases one is Tink and the other is Cinderella. I got them on ebay but i have also seen them at craft stores. I have seen them with other characters like nemo, eeyore, ariel and more. They are pretty easy to do they are just time consuming. Hope this helps.

I had never thought of making pillowcases. Just looked up the cross-stitch ones ... they are adorable! I may have to check the craft store out. I also know that the craft stores carry the Disney pillowcases that can be colored.

Well, no cross-stitch pillowcases at Michael's. I knew there was no way I could be that lucky. I even had a 40% off coupon in hand. In fact their needle craft section is desperately in need of improvement.

I've gotten a couple at A C Moore and have seen them in Michaels as well. If you want to see what they look like you can find them on www.janlynn.com ... just search "Disney pillow cases".
They also have a lot of other cute Disney stuff on that site.
I just picked up our Disney color-on pillow cases at Michaels - they are regular price 9.99 but our store is moving so I go them for $3.00. I am going to have each of us color one and then use them for autographs while we're in the parks!

Since the beds will be made when you get there she won't see the pillows ...maybe you can have DH take her out for a few minutes and you can sneak them on. Or you could run ahead to the room while DH shows her around the resort a bit.

Yeah, maybe you need to run on to use the bathroom while they walk by the pool or giftshop! lol.

I'll have to enlist some help from DH . . . oh boy, he's not good @ secrets!;)

Well, I've found the cross-stitch pillowcases ... they really are cute. After not finding them at Michael's I ordered and Ariel one from Everythingcrossstitch.com. Wouldn't you know I went into ACM 2 days later and they had a whole display of them ... picked up Tinker Bell. I'm working on Tink now.

I love the idea of doing an iron on transfer onto a pillowcase to make the trip a little more special. I have some great designs that I have gotten customized from here and from the TGM site, so I just might have to do that. It is super easy to do, but yes you need to use the transfer paper for dark paper. I have already started making shirt for our trip. I washed the shirts before doing the transfers and then I have been putting them into a ziploc bag. Since they are already washed I am not planning on washing them again before they are worn. Now I think it would be neat to do pillowcases for each person going. They have some great ones that are Mickey heads with characters ont he side and then you can get them customized with the person's name in the center of the Mickey head. My MIL and FIL are going on the next trip and I think I will do this even for them!! Everyone is a kid at Disney!!!

This is similar to what I'm doing . . . I pre-washed the pillowcases and ironed them . . . i'm going to work on these today . . .

I just had autographs done with Marvy Markers. Does anyone know how these markers wash? I am afraid to wash the pillow case, but it will soon need cleaning.

I have never seen the cross stitch pillow cases and will have to check them out. I have been making disney pillow cases the past several years out of disney fabric I find on sale or with coupons. Walmart is also a good place to find fabric. I use 3/4 yard per pillowcase. I am not really a sewer, but these are just a couple of straight seams and a turned under opening.

Wow too many ideas here. Staying off sight this might be extra fun.
I need some "boy" ideas or basic Mickey. Looks like most the cross stitch ones are girl (tink, princess) or younger (pooh).
any one know where I can find some for boys like basic Mikey?
Maybe I can do the iron on thing like the Mickey head w/ their name like I have seen created on another thread. That would be cute to do that and shirts.

We did autographs on a pillowcase too! If anyone is planning this, run them through the dryer after you get home, before you wash them for the first time. It sets the sharpie. (We didn't know this, and our blue signatures ran a little bit.)
