Yes it's that time of the year again ~ It's time to drive you all bonkers with my 'Countdown to Christmas'. I can't believe that it's only 6 months since my last Christmas thread was closed, and once again, the year is flying by ~ so that in only 6 months time it will be Christmas again.

So, has anyone started their Christmas shopping ? worked out what you're getting everyone ? or do your kids already know what they want this year ?

Any idea what the big 'must haves' are for this year ? I haven't got a clue what my girls will be after this year, at 17 & 15 they'll probably want the dosh.

I will refresh this thread each month to drive you mad and to remind you to start your shopping early ~ even though you'll prefer to be shopping for suntan lotion and bikinis :rotfl:

If you see any bargains or 3 for 2's etc. then please post on here and share them with us

Can I take this opportunity to be the first to wish you all a very ...

Excellent news I love Christmas :goodvibes

we have Christmas Snowman and santas up already on the cabinet in my dining room as they dont come down until Pompey are out of the FA cup and as we won it this year they stay up until we get knocked out next season. Our neighbours and friends think we have totally lost the plot. :santa:

This post made me laugh!

I LOVE Christmas so it was lovely to be reminded it's only 6 months away. I usually start getting excited at the beginning of September but June's fine by me! :dance3:

I'm thinking a DS for my eldest who will be 6 as I'm hoping she will be able to play with this on our flight to Orlando next year. Not sure about the youngest who will be 5. See I'm already worrying about it :rotfl2:

Look forward to your monthly posts.

WOOO HOO!!! I love Christmas too! It won't be nearly as exciting this year as it was last year though - we flew to WDW on Christmas day so anything is going to be a come down! :worried: DH and I are planning on getting away hopefully as our pressie to ourselves we are expecting this year to be extremeley busy in the shop in the run up to Christmas so we will be in need of a holiday!

I said to DH that I would like my own mini laptop :surfweb: and maybe a DS - we were only talking about it last night. We are planning on getting the kids a wooden play centre and wendy house thing for the garden, they will love that. DH is notoriously hard to buy for - what man isn't so I shall probably just fill a stocking with lots of little things for him. He likes gadgets so we shall see what is out there at the time.

It seems that Shelby has inherited our love of Christmas too as there is a car dealership by where we live who had a life sized santa in their window and whenever we drive by it she asks "where's Santa gone?" we have to go through the rigmaroll of explaining that he is in the north pole making the toys etc! :rotfl2:

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I am pretty sure 5 months to wrap him round your finger will work:rotfl: .We have a tiny house,so we only have the tree in the living room-which is a humungous tree,as where we used to live,we had a huge living/dining room+bought it for there-but we could'nt bear to throw it out when we moved here. You have to fix it branch for branch+it takes ages, but because it's so big we have to leave the branches off of the back and push it up flush against the wall+window-we don't see daylight form the end of Nov to the beginning of Jan:lmao: .
The girls also have a tree in there room+we decorate the bunk beds with lights.x.

Woohoo I can't believe that there are people out there who love Christmas as much as me!!

I have brought my cads, I got them in the sales. I also have started my list of things to buy everyone. I am getting a few personalised presents from a work colleague who does painting. She is going to paint a portrait of my dads dog onto a piece of slate and a watercolour of the church where my best friend got married. I will start buying presents in September after DD's birthday at the end of August.

As we are going to Disney in February the girls will get holiday related pressies. We are thinking digital cameras and possible a DS for the plane.

Can't wait to chat more about Christmas with you guys :santa:

Merry Christmas I cant wait, our tree will be courtesy of Walmart, and we have Pegs decorations to take back with us, we will decorate the balcony and Ian is determined we will have a five foot inflatable Santa on the balcony as we have our Owners Locker to leave him in. Christmas Eve dinner at Narcoossees and then Christmas Day open pressies, chill out and dinner upstairs at Pucks. I hope we can join in the Christmas Card exchange and take our DIS cards with us like we did last year. The only things I will miss is my tree with all my Disney ornaments, my dad, and my cats, I won't miss my fellow Disers *** I will have the laptop with me xx

Every time we go to WDW I could spend a fortune in the christmas shop at DTD, but DH always says we arent buying anything, christmas is months away and every year come christmas he always says I wish we had bought something from Disney now. Well this year we are going to whether DH likes it or not and as we are staying at Allstar sports Im going to try to get some of those Mickey lights(even if I have to sneek then into the suit case to bring home), Mandy I think they are great.

Oh Grumpy John it can't be that bad, surely.
I love the dark mornings-means my girls are'nt wide awake by 5am  .
I love the dark afternoons-not necessarily the rain part though. But what i do love is being out Christmas shopping for the day, coming home in the dark afternoon, putting on the central heating, putting the tree lights on+sitting down with a mug of hot chocolate with squirty cream on top, watching anything Christmassy on the telly.
Also love the evenings when the girls have gone to bed+me+Dh snuggle up on the sofa under our WDW throw, hot chocolate+a Christmas film on the tv/dvd+our Christmas lights slowly twinkling.x.

I ordered them online a few weeks back but can't remember exactly where as I collect the Disney Traditions ornaments and always get them from a couple of different websites as they can vary in price, so I shop around. :)

One of the sites I use is castlechina.co.uk - I may have got them from there. Sorry to be so vague but I can't find my email order confirmation. If I track it down then I will let you know for sure.

Goodness me, with over 16 weeks till Christmas, I saw Christmas Decorations in Debenhams today  That has got to be the earliest I've seen Crimbo stuff out in the High Street

Once our Girly Weekend to Cardiff is out of the way, I'm going to get stuck into Christmas. With going away on Boxing Day, we're keeping presents simple and cheap this year. Part of Kerry's Christmas/18th birthday present is bringing her friend along with us, and Becky is after a TV, so the rest of their presents will be made up of $$ and bits and bobs

When I was away I bought a couple of cute tree decorations and I've also got my Autumn/Hallowe'en, Christmas Decoration and Secret Santa pressies bought

Has anyone else made a start on their presents ? http://bestsmileys.com/christmas4/16.gif

I have got quite a few of my presents already. :thumbsup2 Funnily enough I was just talking to my mum about sorting out a day to go shopping with her towards the end of this month.

I want to get all my presents brought and wrapped by the first week of November this year as we go to WDW on 1st December, then when I've got all the presents done I can write all the cards, put the decorations up and start the food shopping all before we go. :santa: :santa: :santa:

We all went to our local town centre last Thursday and also in our Debenhams are Christmas Decs. Also in Card Factory-they have all there christmas cards out on display, boxed cards, sacks+christmas bags, and yes i did buy some.I got some great rolls of paper for the girls presents saying Love From Santa printed all over it-also with Reindeer,Santa etc..on it.

Well dd7 has asked for Interactive Wall-E,and dd3 has asked for remote control Wall-E from Father Christmas.x.

I've been very busy getting stuff for my three kids. The boys love Disney Cars and DD loves Princesses and HSM so I've been on the lookout from these things. I got a pile of things in our Disney store about a month ago which was having a HUGE sale. :cool1: I got Cars sandals for £2.00 and wallets for about a quid.
Then we had a new homewares shop open and it sells Disney things really cheap. I got big Cars canvasses for £2.99 each. Princess pictures for 99p in glass frameless frames. Their HSM duvet cover was £7.99. It was 17.99 in Argos. I have seen loads more I want to get them too, like mats for their bedrooms Cars and Princess again for £3.99 each.
I got loads more things too but I can't remember as I took it to my mum's. :rotfl:
It doesn't help DS2's birthday is 16th December though!!!! I have to start early.

I can't say I've ever noticed the porcelain one's before....probably as my DH tries to get me out of that shop asap as I would spend all day in it! :rotfl2: I will be looking out for it in Dec, the xmas pot pourri inside sounds lovely.

They're at the front of the shop, Claire - there's a little section with lots of Victorian-style cream decorations... :thumbsup2

Cool - when are you going? I'll be there in October so I could always pick one up for you if you like...

As far as boxers go, I'm on a waiting list for a bobtail baby boy. :woohoo: Turns out a friend of mine's two lady dogs are both expecting!!! If I'm lucky, I should be a proud mama in early December... :cloud9:

I got a couple of small presents today and I've already bought for my friend's baby in Lincolnshire.

We were in Debenhams a couple of weeks ago and they had a few decs out. Myself and the children were looking (and we bought a couple) and DH walked off, absolutely refused to even browse at anything Christmassy in August. Then spent the next ten minutes moaning how soon they won't bother putting them away in the shops, they'll be available all year round.

Some people just don't get it do they?

Normally i put our tree up on the 1st of december but it falls on a monday so i will have to put it up on the 30th November ;)

Girls,

I'm getting really excited about Christmas now.

I've already written my cards and bought pressies :thumbsup2

Kids want money for WDW in June so I'll get $ if the exchange rate is good, that way they can't spend it till we go.

Or is that just horrible ?

We leave for Manchester Airport on Christmas Day, so all my Crimbo stuff will go up the last weekend of November, then a few days before Christmas I will take everything down, except for the main tree, and that will be put away once we've opened our pressies http://bestsmileys.com/christmas1/17.gif

Hi all

We really should post on here more often...

Anyway we fly out on the 15th December from Manchester, for 2 weeks and its going to be our first Christmas away from home, but can't think of a more magical place to spend it right now.

Good old Tesco clubcard points got a us a free holiday after 2 years of saving so have paid extra direct to disney to book us in the Grand Floridian for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Doubt we will get this opportunity again as out little boy will be in proper school from next year and we are loathed to take him out (plus the school aren't keen on it).

Twelve weeks on Friday until we fly to Santa Mickey. I must say that other than my father and my cats the only thing I missed last year was the putting up of the tree, it didnt seem worth it for ten days before we went. I had a little wooden tree from Habitat that I put out, and I made Ian put the lights in the window so the neigbours wouldnt think I was a Scrooge LOL. This year we will be hitting Walmart again so we can decorate our room and balcony, and we want some of those lovely Mickey lights that you had last year Mand..

am driving my work mates mad going on about Christmas!!! I work in a school and you cant beat all the plays, glitter and excited children to get you in the christmas mood.
This year we are having our christmas fete early, so November we will be holding our winter wonderland fete so everyone can grab some homemade chrimbo pressies.
I generally have to help the man in the red suit so I will be a christmas fairy donned with lot's of netting, pink cheeks and a very oversized wand!!!
( That doesn't sound rude does it ?) :confused3
Anyway 13 weeks for us before we are over in Florida:goodvibes

:lmao: -i can't stand Christmas Pudding  .I'll never forget when i first met hubby's nan+grandad. It was near Christmas+we went down there for Crimbo dinner+she had made this christmas pudding,i never had the heart to tell her i did'nt like it.I ate every bit while heaving+was ill throwing up all night when i got home  .

Yes so glad Emily was happy,Chloe was the complete opposite, cried+cried solid for 2 weeks.x.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I was like that with my DH's mum - she used to give me earl grey tea and I hated it.....I was only young and hadn't heard of it before so one day I said to my DH 'your mum doesn't wash the cups properly, you can still taste the washing up liquid'. :rotfl: :rotfl: We still laugh about it now! :lmao:

Emily is loving it,she played with the 'play-day' today(play doh :lmao: ),and done some painting, she did fall over and scrapped her knee, but she said she was a brave girl+did'nt cry for long :cutie: .x.

Those decorations looked fantastic.

I love Christmas and it's always been a big thing in my family. Luckily I married somebody who feels the same and if anything he's worse than me. How this happened I'm not sure as the one and only time I spent Christmas at his house as soon as the dinner was over his mum was washing and ironing!!!! She then just sat and watched TV all night. :confused3

When I was growing up TV was banned on Christmas day apart from the Queens speech for the grandparents and great aunts and then Top of the Pops for "us youngs ones"!. The rest of the day was playing games etc and apart from not having the TV on at all now this is still what happens when all 18 of us meet up at our parents for 2 days!

ooohh I can't wait - I'm getting excited now thinking about it.

Lovely Decorations Rachel :thumbsup2 .x.
-------------------------------------------------

Janet,i always remember when living with my Nan+Grandad that the tv would'nt be on(Crimbo music playing)-only for the Queen's speech-we would sit at the dinner table+wait for her to talk before we ate.I also used to watch Top Of The Pop's on Christmas Day :thumbsup2 .

I am cooking Christmas Day this year for us 4,My Nan+Grandad,My Mum+her crabby husband :lmao: .x.

The next one I want is the huge "Magic is Everywhere" one - price around 180.00 from our local shop. Trouble is... I have no room for anything else :rotfl:

The personalised Christmas cards have arrived today at last. I have also decided to buy another tree this year - I'm a little bored with a white tree as our main one so I'm reverting to a more traditional green.

We'll make the most of our trees and decorations this year as we will be in WDW for Christmas and New Year so they will not get taken down until the at least the 9th of January so in total, they will be up for about two months:cool1: :cool1:
