Well.. I'm down about a pound this week,, but my biggest thing isn't the weight, it's the inches... and I'm not sure exactly how much i've lost there, but i can tell SUCH a difference:cool1: I've been running since march.. did my first 4 mile run/walk this weekend and i feel great. I've decided i'm no longer doing any "diet" or "lifestyle change" instead i'm going to stop living to eat and start eating to live:yay: It worked great last week.. didn't beat myself up when i had sugar... just went on with eating healthy foods and cut out things that I know i overeat on... Goal for this week...run the whole 5k race (my first) on Saturday:banana:

I think I'm going to have to re-join this group. I tried to start the first week, but I just didn't have the motivation to do it. After attempting to wear some shorts that I love, I realised maybe I should shift some pounds. OK, it might take me a little while to get into it, but hopefully, in the end, I'll get there.

I really want to try jogging, but I don't want to embarrase myself with the fact that I probably can't run to the end of the road, let alone a longer distance.

Well, i've been going to the gym faithfully now for almost 3 weeks. According to my scale this morning, I am down 4.5 lbs!! :cool1:

My trainer will only weigh me in once a month or so...so i'm not sure of my measurements. I should have measured myself though at home when this all started.

I've been at the gym every weekday after work. I've finally got my program together...Mondays and Thursdays will be weight/strength training. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will be cardio. On Tuesdays, i'm going to give the Zumba class a try. It happens to be right before my yoga class, so the timing is perfect. The other cardio days that I don't have a class of some kind, I just get on the elliptical and go for 30 minutes. I am slowly upping my time on the elliptical. When I first started, I could barely survive 10 minutes. I finally pushed myself one night to go for 30 minutes and I truly surprised myself! I didn't keel over!! :yay:

I truly am starting to notice a difference, not in the way that I look or how my clothes fit yet, but in how I feel. I'm not nearly as run down as I was before. I can go up a flight of stairs and not feel like I need a nap afterwards. My legs still hurt when climbing the stairs, but I think that's from the muscles being worked in ways they haven't been worked in a lonnnnnnnnnng time. My posture is 1000 times better since i've been really making an effort to keep my back straight. And I love yoga. Who'd have thought?? My Tuesday (and sometimes Friday) night yoga classes are the highlight of my week! I feel so good afterwards...i'm even doing yoga at home. I've got a nice 30 minute yoga workout DVD...I feel so much more relaxed and I sleep so much better now.

So for those of you on the podcast cruise...who's going to join me for yoga on the beach at Castaway Cay?? :hippie: Can you imagine doing yoga with the ocean right in front of you...what a way to relax...

Zumba is the devil...

Has anyone ever done one of those classes? :faint: I lasted about 45 minutes before I was about to drop. I didn't realize hips were supposed to move like that! :rotfl: It was fun, but much harder than I thought. I had to tone down some of the stuff the instructor (Miss Perky-and-waaaaay-too-skinny-oh-where-does-she-find-the-energy!) was doing because I wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes at her rate. My muscles thanked me for going into my yoga class afterwards...ahhhhhh...nice stretching...

I'm back. I took a diet vacation into the land of ice cream, doughnuts, and potato chips. But the vacation ended and I am back to reality and lost 2 pounds this week.

Although I keep thinking of taking a vacation to the land of bread and butter. UGH!!! Why can't you buy just one slice of bread and be done with it?!?!?!

I went to WW early this week. Got rid of 4 lbs of the 4.6 lbs I gained last week. I will be back at WW on Saturday the 5th (if they are open) So here is hoping I hit 20lbs net loss next time.

Hi, Wonders, after about 4 months of not running at all, I just started Couch to 5K, a 9 week plan to get from, well, your couch to being able to run 3 miles comfortably.

I am now 2/3 the way through week 2, so far so good.

I successfully did Couch to 5K (aka: C25K) two years ago, after having our second child, and I ran several 5Ks, an 8K, and even a Half Marathon! I never ever ran before, so that was amazing to me. And when I was running I ate basically what I wanted and didn't gain an ounce!

The party is over, the clothes are getting tight, and school is out (I teach) so I have recommitted to C25K.

The free 9 week program is here (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml), if anyone wants to take a look.

Best of luck to all of you! I will check in here more frequently this summer to see all our progress!

i haven't been around since the wonders started...
since then (when i started a very serious diet/exercise regimen), i've lost about 25 pounds...

i'd still like to lose another 15 pounds, but i don't know if i can manage that (or maintain it)...but i'm pretty good with this weight..

i've gone from a size 16/18 to a size 10/12....i'm pretty happy about that..

as a reward to myself i actually bought something that i would never have thought i would.....
a gorgeous prada jacket....truly stunning....and i can't believe it fits....
so just call me the devil.....which is perfect, since the jacket's red...

As you may be able to tell, I still need to get my fat rear end into gear, so bear with me.

I've started to use the exercise bike again once in a while, so I need to start doing it regularly and I'm actually quite interested in trying the couch to 5K running programme you guys are suggesting, but don't know whether I'll fit it in.

I think the one thing that will probably help me the most at the moment is that I'm starting my first paid job on Monday, so that should help as it will keep me busy and I can't snack on bad things during the day, and as long as I have a healthy lunch (bonus point for the only shop to run a healthy meal deal being a fair distance to walk from where I work, but I'll try not to eat sandwich meal deals all the time), I'm fine.

I'm starting at a horendous (to me) 15 stone 1, (211 pounds) and about a size 14-20 depending on what clothing.

To fit into the normal weight catagory, I need to lose at least 47 pounds so that is my target and heres hoping that I can do it!

Also, sorry for the late introduction, I did intend to start when the threads started, but for some reason it just didn't work.

you've taken the first step and that's GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
one important thing - if you have a bad day - or week - don't give up...
pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep going...
and come in here for encouragement!!

Okay, I'm in....again.

I'm finally past the weird and wild part of my summer, and can finally focus on business again. Back to the gym, back away from the potato salad.

Sorry I deserted you guys for a while. I just couldn't get it together enough to join in. But I think I'm back. I'm setting my goal smaller for now, since it's a big amount I have to lose. I just want to lose 25 lbs by my Dec. trip.

You guys are all doing SOOO well! Couch to 5K? Fantastic! 25 lbs lost? Amazing! Back on the cycle? Darn, you're halfway there! All I need to do is get back to the A/C gym, and I can join you in the celebration.

i have an idea....how about a little get together of the wonders on the podcast cruise....
how many wonders are there?
if there aren't too many, i could host us in my cabin (i'll be in one of the midship cat 3 staterooms).......
of course, if there are lots and lots of people we won't fit...even as our new svelte selves...
how many calories in a mogeetoe?

I know I haven't posted here yet this week - the song remains the same here...not going up or down.

I have been a little more busy than usual so I haven't gotten all my workouts in. I have been dancing more - and perfroming (ick! in the shape I'm in!) but I am also not getting my meals proper.

Ok NO MORE EXCUSES! Time to take some action! (does weed pulling count??? I pulled the muscles in my forearms last week spraying round up and still have to let the rain stop so I can get out to pull the wilted crap out)

Point blank - I need to be kick started to get off this weight plateau. Summer recipes, lunch suggestions...anything!!!!!!!!!!! (lunch is my big downfall - I never know what to have and will eat junk out of simplicity's sake)

HELP!

Is blenderized watermelon with a shot of rum considered diet food?

Have you tried Weight Watchers? It gives you a number of points per day based on your current weight and activity level. You choose how you want to spend those points. I currently weigh (yes I'm going to tell you how much I weigh) 237lbs. I have 27 base points. I generally earn 4 more points per exercise day and I have 35 points per week to use as well. I hate packing my lunch so I usually have a go wrap from Wendy's or a sandwich from Subway for lunch. 6 or 7 points each.

I lost 90 lbs on WW the first time and I am up to 17 lbs net this time so it really works. Just a thought.

Besides doing the Couch to 5K (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml) (I'm about to start Week 3, woo hoo), I also just found the 100 Pushup Challenge (http://hundredpushups.com). It is what the name describes, a 6 week (3 days/week, 10 min/day) plan at the end of which the goal is to do...100 Pushups!

GoofyMom, that might be a good challenge for you--it is sure challenging me! I only did 8 pushups the first time I tried. And I'm sore to boot!

GL, I am always in danger of falling off the wagon, always looking for motivation. I seem to do best with a plan to follow. GL!:thumbsup2

Thanks.

I have done diet plans and not done well. I looked at the exercise links - no running allowed for me...arthritis. Push ups fall into the same category. BUT that does give me an idea - someone had talked about distances in and around WDW for walking. Walking I am allowed & encouraged to do. I have my treadmill. I wonder if I could stick with it enough to "walk" from here (Canada) to WDW before the cruise? My goal is still 15 pounds. I know that doesn't sound like much, but I am in pain daily with just this little amount of extra weight. My knees have been suffering arthritis for 28 years already, and a good portion of those, I was heavier than I am now. One little slip & here I am. :sad2: I have already been told that it is "when" not "if" I will need a knee replacement. The more I exercise & keep my weight down, the more I can delay it. One would think that is enough incentive. Sometimes potato chips & ice cream are "louder" in my head. I had a joint replacement in my hand at 15, so I already have an idea of what to expect.

Ok so according to Google maps I can leave my house and be at the Poly in 1,294 miles. (I think my treadmill operates in miles so let's go with that.) If I can figure out my pedometer (which is still in it's box..) I can add outdoor workouts to it.

Off to find something relatively healthy for lunch.

as for the watermelon & rum - I think vodka is a better choice ;)

Hmmm.... I'd like to try this out, but will it let me walk on water????

I think I need to find a good pedometer that tells me how far I've walked, not just how many steps, I'm thinking of investing in My Health Coach for the DS...

Absolutely you can walk on water girl!

Let me know if you do the health coach for the DS - I was looking at that last night but didn't go for it yet...mostly cuz I spent too much on Muppet DVDs!

I think I'm going to wait until a copy comes into the games shop I work in, staff discount and all, I just have to wait for a used one to be brought in.
