Hi! Most of you will most likely be coming over from our other weight loss thread! This thread is to talk about losing weight before our Disney Weddings (or after them). Since we have been kicked off the Wedding Boards....
Lets each post how much we have lost, what method we are using & when our big day is.

Hi,
I brought my dress a while ago and was worried when a few months ago it wouldn't fit how i wanted it too. I cut out all crisps (chips for Americans), fatty foods and pop. I was using a lateral thigh trainer twice a week and the beginning and doing yoga as well as 20 sit ups a day.
About 6 weeks in i'd lost 12lb but that also made me feel like i could relax. When my weight stayed the same for a few weeks i kick started it again and now i do a trim and tone class once a week (thinking about doing it twice a week), yoga once a week, 25 sit ups a day and i walk two miles a day at lunch time at work.
After week 6 i could fit nicely in my dress again, but i still could do with losing another 12lb in just over 4 months. As this is what i weighed two years ago. I still allow myself treats-i'm a chocoholic.
I tell myself it will all be worth it, its going to be difficlt to keep my weigh the same inFlorida with all the all you can eat buffets . Lol :rotfl:
Do you like i can do 12lb in 4 months? I seems hard to keep losing weight after the first 6 weeks. What exercise is everyone else doing?

You can do it. That is less then one pound a week. Just cut out carbs, increase your water. It will be okay.

My WI day is Wednesday. I definitely need to start exercising too! And yes, I said START exercising. I figure it's pretty good I've lost all my weight with just the "diet" portion of it...but I'm definitely slowing down. I know I'll need to start working out regularly to keep losing..and especially to maintain.
Any suggestions for a girl that hates to exercise??
When I lived at home right after college, I'd use my parents' treadmill. To get myself to actually USE it, I bought a DVD set of an addictive TV show (Nip/Tuck...ironic, no?). I'd only let myself watch it if I was on the treadmill. That worked GREAT...until I moved away from the treadmill. :rotfl:

Yeah - you'll get there...I was slow to start, and it seems like every other week I gain, but it's been a general downward trend so I try not to think about it... it's always -5, +3, -4, +2...it's really annoying, but I just try to think, oK, next week I'll lose!! :hyper:

I love Jenny and I have three little ones to chase after on a daily basis, so my only "excercise" is my Wii Fit! I've only tried Yoga, but looking to branch out... :rotfl:

Yay I am here. As I said on the locked down thread I lost 8 pounds and I am on my 6th week in weight watchers. My DF and I play with the Wii Fit. Doing the Hula Hoops on there really gets you sweating so that seems to be working. Plus, luckily, my DF cooks low fat meals for us during the week then, on saturday after we get weighed in, we have our cheat day!

Hey girls :) Glad we found a new home...still can't believe the thread got locked.
I'm in the beginning of my weight loss. I actually used to work at Jenny Craig (I was the lady that you met with on your first day that explained everything). I went from 170 to 150 on Jenny while I was there. Then left and lost access to the foods. Slowly over the last 5 months (and one week long cruise later) I've gone back to 162 (as of this morning). I want to be at 150 by my Bachelorette cruis Sept 18th, and 140 by our wedding in December. I have a lot of time, so I don't want to do it in a drastic way, rather a sensible slow way.
I'm doing the WW points on my own (no meetings too close by, and my BMI is healthy, so they won't really help me out too much). I'm loving it so far, and love the whole point system.
No exercise yet..we have a new elliptical DF got me specifically to get in shape for the wedding. I've used it 3 times in 2 months lol! I'm going to start this week with 3 - 15min sessions! (hold me to that!!!) and one weight training session (20-30 min) focusing on my arms/chest/back (since my dress is strapless!).
My weigh in days are going to be Mondays (since I'm starting on a Monday!) so you can harrass me :thumbsup2
I can't wait to see everyone's progress!!!!
(btw..I have no prob telling everyone my actual weight versus 'how much weight i want to/have lost'. But I totally understand everyone has their personal preference...so please don't feel obligated to tell me your actual numbers on the scale! :) )

Have you noticed much difference with water aerobics? I thought about doing it. My trim and tone class is very intense. It's hard to cut out carbs when most meals have carbs as the filler with them. I have increased my water intake though:thumbsup2

Lisa -- Thank you so much for telling me where to find you!
As I said on the other thread, I am a long-time Weight Watcher. Here is a picture of me in July 2004, before I gained another 20 pounds or so, right before my 4th heart surgery in January 2005:
http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b7ce10b3127ccec22afc2e9a3300000010O00Ibt3DRs2cMQ e3nw4/cC/f%3D0/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D560/ry%3D300/
After my heart condition was cured, I started on a journey to lose weight and get fit. Most importantly, I started and have kept up a journal here on the WISH forum of the DISBoards. My WISH journal is here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=720698
I have been right around 70 pounds lost for a while, though I continue to lose inches as I tone, even if I am not dropping pounds. I work out 5-7x/week, running, doing the recumbent bike & elliptical. Last week, I started working on upper body strength training with a personal trainer. Here is a picture of me from about 7 weeks ago. My clothes have gotten looser on me since then, so hopefully the pix from our PS will show a smaller Cam ;)

I still follow WW and I go to meetings on Thursday mornings. My goal is to fit into the gown that I ordered 2 sizes smaller by the time it arrives in October. LOL!

I have noticed a big differance. I lost less weight the two weeks the pool was closed. My friend goes with me and she only weighs like 170 pounds and has lost about 10 pounds since we started going! It is intense, we even sweat in the water!

I'm not in Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig or anything like that, but I have been trying to lose weight and tone up before our wedding (in 11 days! :hyper: ) I have cut out most junk food like potato chips, although I still need my first love, chocolate, sometimes.
I have a DVD that I do every night, called Buff Brides. I have been doing the arm workout religiously, and I have definitely noticed a difference! It only takes like 10 minutes, so I really don't have any excuse to skip it (anything much longer than that and I'll find a way to weasel out of it. :rotfl2: ) The exercises are nice because while working your arms, they also work your abs. I've even got DF doing it with me!
I've lost about 9 pounds since last November, and I want to lose 5 more. I initially lost weight by doing the Couch to 5K running program: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
This worked really well for, so far I've done three 5Ks. I also do power yoga once a week. I want to step things up by running faster and for longer periods, and also by taking up another form of exercise to change things up...but I really don't like gyms, and I don't have a bike. I do have a weights at home, I just need to use them more... (I want to strengthen and tone my arms up). So maybe I'll get a bike or join a gym or pool, not sure yet. I have a pretty busy work schedule, so it's hard to fit things in, but lately I've really liked running in the morning before work - it's too hot here (and stormy) in the evenings to run!
As far as diet, I already eat pretty healthy - I'm vegetarian and eat a lot of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and drink a lot of water. But I am trying to cut down on carbs and increase the protein. And also cut down on alcohol!:drinking1
Good luck to everyone! My WI is Fridays.

I got mine at Borders. Here is a link to it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Buff-Brides-Count-Down-Workout/dp/B000JU8HKG/ref=pd_sim_b_1
I also recommend Cardio Pilates...you will definitely feel it when you are finished! The great thing about this DVD is the pilates come first, followed by the cardio, so if you are short on time you can just do one or the other. It really, really works your abs, without doing crunches. Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Cardio-Pilates-Ana-Caban/dp/B0001DHSFG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1214263277&sr=1-1

Yeah, I heard about her! Really sad and scary. I live and run in a pretty well-populated area (there are a lot of people out and about at 6am!) but I know that you never know...I am going to get pepper spray. I have friends who live near UCF and used to always run on that trail, but now have had to stop. It stinks.

There are three separate workouts on the DVD. One is a cardio segment, one is back/arms, and one is abs/legs. The back/arms is the one I do everyday and it takes 10 minutes. :thumbsup2 If I have extra time, I'll add the others in too, but how can you really say no to just 10 minutes?? That's why it works for me! I do push-ups after the arm workout but that only takes like one or two minutes, tops.

Thanks! I started in early 2005 just walking on a treadmill and late that summer started following John Bingham's Marathoning for Mortals "Walk a Half Marathon" plan to walk the WDW 1/2 Marathon in January 2006, exactly one year and one day to the day of my 4th heart surgery. After the half, I trained to do several more races that year and walked and finished the WDW Full Marathon in 2007, and again in 2008. This year, starting in April I started following the Couch to 5k plan and trained with my friend Patty (pjstevens). Now, I do short runs 3 mornings a week 1-3 miles and a longer run on Saturdays. The other mornings I either bike or use the elliptical. I get up at 5:30 every weekday morning to go to the Y. On Saturdays, I get up at 6:00 or 6:15 to go. On Sundays, I tend to go late afternoon, and just typically ride the bike for up to an hour while I browse the latest bridal magazines. :goodvibes
Cam you look great!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, sweetie! It is really hard to stay motivated when I look at the scale, but I realize it is more important to be fit than to be thin. Now, I really have to kick in the weight loss efforts so that the gown will fit.
I have to check out that Buff Brides workout DVD and the plan on the WW board, too! Thanks for all the advice everyone! It is great to hear what is working for everyone. I am much older than almost everyone here, so it is MUCH harder to lose. :(

Portion control was my biggest accomplicement
I can't believe the amount of food I use to eat...when I first started WW Online..I would eat about 6 small meals a day so I wouldn't be hungry...I started to notice that I would get full quicker and when I got full..I stopped..
Also, when I would go out, I would cut my meal in half and put it on another plate..so I wasn't tempted to eat it all..I would take it to work the next day for lunch!

Hey all. I am new to your little pack, so I hope that is ok. Our wedding was supposed to be in September, but for multiple reasons, it looks like we are going to have to postpone. We are thinking about eloping in early 2009. It is really upsetting how it has worked out, but we deal with it. We have been together nearly 7 years and engaged for 4, so technically in some states we are nearly married already! ;)
Anyway, I have about 40lbs to lose. I start vacation number 1 on Saturday. I then come back and start vacation number 2, 3 days later (come home Sunday and go to the beach Thursday for 10 days). So pretty much I have decided to back off from the restrictions I have put on myself for the next few weeks. I want to enjoy these trips, so July 21 I will be back on track.

I too love steak Lisa..I use to make a whole NY Strip just for me along with shrimp, potato, bread, salad..now, I still eat steak every week, but I split the steak in half and my DH eats half and my DD and I share the other half and if I have bread..i have a half a piece..just to taste it
I have also learned to cook with 2% cheese

Anyway, I have about 40lbs to lose. I start vacation number 1 on Saturday. I then come back and start vacation number 2, 3 days later (come home Sunday and go to the beach Thursday for 10 days). So pretty much I have decided to back off from the restrictions I have put on myself for the next few weeks. I want to enjoy these trips, so July 21 I will be back on track.
sorry about the delay!
We got married last August (because I needed surgery and my COBRA was going to expire) but already had this cruise booked with a large group of DIS'rs..so instead of a wedding, we booked a VR on the cruise where all our best friends will be
Last August, I tried on the dress I will wear to the VR and it wouldn't even zip!! I pick it up this Friday after they have taken in 2 inches!!!
You CAN diet on vacation..last June, I went to Disney with the same friends we are cruising with..I had only lost about 15lbs at the time and didn't want to gain anything at all the restaurants we were eating at...I was very careful and shared a lot of meals with my mother or my daughter...If I ordered a cheese burger, I cut it in half..not only did I not gain weight (and we ate ALOT) i saved money because we were only ordering one thing...Disney was also GREAT about splitting meals...they sliced the burger and brought each half out ...they divided chicken dishes ...I was VERY impressed!

:thumbsup2 This is great news! We'll be on our disneymoon and eating out A LOT, and I'm worried I won't be able to fit back into my wedding dress two months later for our at home reception. :worried: DF and I are going to have to work extra hard, while still maintaining a "it's our honeymoon" vacation attitude...::yes::

i am trying to do a big push these last few weeks...my VR is on Friday the 25th of July...after 5 days of cruising..I don't want to not be able to fit in my dress so I am going to be very very good until Friday..then, ITS ON!!! WEDDING CAKE AND PALO CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE!!

LOL...yum...Palo Chocolate Sauce! I can not wait to hear all about your wedding. I am glad Disney is good with Splitting meals. We are on the Deluxe Dining plan, but have a bunch of 2 meal dinners planned so this will help for lunches etc.

You CAN diet on vacation
My WW leader always says this!! She says she makes it like a game when she goes on vacation...trying to find the best food options. Yea...that sounds like a blast. :rotfl2: Luckily, with Disney, you do soooo much walking, so if you control your portions, you should at least maintain your weight (this is what I'm hoping happens for me!).
Portion control is so difficult for me when I eat out! I know how much I should eat, but the taste buds don't always agree.

Yeah I figure the walking will help balence it out. LOL :rotfl2:

Whoops! That doesn't sound right...:rotfl: Anyway, I have been lurking over on the wedding and honeymoon board...you girls are all going to have beautiful wedding days. The wedding will take place at Jekyll Island then we're honeymooning at Disney. I am an older bride (46) - this is the second time around but this time it is magical! :lovestruc :lovestruc
Last year I took off 75 pounds but put back on 40 due a life crisis. BUT I am back and going strong. After days of arguing with the TM we have made peace and I am walking 1 mile twice a day. As for a diet I am following the DASH plan for lowering blood pressure. So far, after a week I have lost 5 pounds....water weight I am sure but a loss no less!!
We are going to Disney Nov. 28 - Dec. 7 and I want to be 145!!

lol..thats what I always say..but still come home weighing more! ugh
Truth is, you come home from vaca with TONS of water weight!! Vaca food (even Disney) is usually extra heavy on the salt..so you balloon up. I came back from our cruise thinking I gained 10lbs in 7 days, luckily a week later I had lost most of it, now I'm stuck with 3 lbs of it lol!

yes...the salt is bad

ok, question for those who have done WW. I haven't gone to a single meeting, not really wanting to do the whole group thing. Besides, the closest one is a far distance. But I found a point calculator online and it says I should consume aprox 25 pts / day. I'm 5'8", 22yrs old, and 160lbs. Does that sound right?? I started yesterday and ended up being stuffed and having 2 pts left over! Also, don't you get 35 extra pts/week? Thanks girls/guys!! :)

You SHOULD use them! That's why thery're there! My WW leader always says "you don't win some award for NOT using them!" It really depends on the person for how many to use... sometimes people gain if they don't use them all, sometimes people gain when they use even a few. Experiment for awhile! I've learned that my body does best when I have around 15 weekly points left. But I've also had plenty of losses when I've used them all!
You should ALWAYS use ALL of your daily points! :thumbsup2

My DF and I weigh in on Wed. (we skip the meetings) After Weigh ins we go out to dinner....we eat whatever we want we call it
"Cheat Night", here lately we have been splitting "cheat Night" dinners cause one of the rules of "Cheat Night" is you can not take left overs home and we are both eating so much less. LOL We alternate week by week as to who picks the place. Oh and we can on;y go if we both lose. Anyway we count this one night as all of our 35 extra points!

In my mind if I am paying $35 a month for someone else to take my weight then I will stick to it more. We can't handle the meetings though. Alissa -- Congrats on NOT gaining this week! :woohoo:
Lisa -- I attended a particular meeting for almost 2 years and then started just weighing in and heading to the gym, figuring an hour of exercise was more worth my time. Then I decided I needed the meetings so I tried a different one. I now go on Thursday mornings between the gym and work. The leader is absolutely awesome! Every single week, I walk out of there committing to memory ONE significant piece of information that I took from the meeting. I often find myself thinking during the week of something I learned. It has made a big difference in my mindset. The lesson I learned was that if the leader wasn't the right fit, I had to take the initiative to find a different meeting that would be edifying. I hope that helps!

I'm glad I came over here, girls! It's good to hear how well other people are doing - very motivating!
I started back on WW online earlier this week after a shocking weight on the scale. First time I weighed myself since I got home from working 8 months on a cruise ship + 6 days of Disney and Vacation Food, and now it's go time. I've got to get to the grocery store and stock up on 'success food', so it'll be easier to eat properly.
I'm looking to lose 20 lbs, but I'll take what I can get in the next 2.75 months.

I am dreading stepping on the scale Thursday morning. And I am having all sorts of nightmares about my gown not zipping when it arrives in October. :faint: Now I am working with a personal trainer 2 days a week, too, to tone and strengthen my upper body.

Mind if I crash?
My BF and I aren't engaged yet, but we pretty much know what date we want to get married; 12-8-2010. We were going to do 2009, but decided we could use the extra year to save money. Plus that date is exactly 70 years after my grandparents were married! That gives me 2 1/2 years to lose the weight I need to. I want to lose 150 pounds, but I'm nervous about it.
See last time I tried to lose weight, I went extreme a bit. I was eating 200 calories a day and 6 hoodia pills a meal. Obviously that didn't turn out well, I had a stroke December 23rd 2006. I fully recovered though, and I'm very lucky :) but I didn't really lose any weight that way just a few brain cells lol.
So anyway. This time, I think maybe trying WW would help keep me on track to make sure I didn't go to extreme again. How much does the meetings cost? (am I allowed to ask that?). How does it work?
I know 150 pounds is possible in 2 1/2 years, I think having a support system will make it easier :) So mind if I join? Lol.
Goldeelox9

Yeah Join us! I need to lose about 150 too.....Weight Watchers is $39.99 a month and gives all the online tools and the meetings. It is WONDERFUL! My DF and I are both doing it and have had great success in the 18 or so weeks we have been doing it. I wish I would have started 2 years out, then I would be skinny skinny by November!
I am so sorry about the stroke....I hope you are doing well now. So we welcome you!!!!!!!!!

I buy the Prepackaged Ham and for only 2 points you get like 6 slices. Hilshire Farms is good and so is Oscar Mayer. The new Olive Oil Mayo by kraft only has one point per tablespoon. You do not need to NOT eat anything, you just need to alter it. Fiber is a big part. Look for stiuff with as much fiber as possinle. New Splenda came out..has 1 g of fiber in every pack!
What ham are you eating Lisa? Generally, deli meat is 2pts per slice unless it is fat free...I like Boar's Head..the turkey is 1 pt per slice
I am 8lbs from the goal I set back in April 2007..that was what I was before my daughter was born in 1998..i am very happy where I am now and if I can stay somewhere around this point, I will be very happy!

I am buying the Oscar Mayer Lunch Meat already sliced in the Prepackaged Tubs. I fyou go by the serving size on the back, like 3 slices and punch it into the WW calculator it is one point a serving. I double it and usually count it as 3 points for like 6 slices. They are small. I also have got the HealthyOnes Lunch meat and that is good too.

I am getting married this November at WDW and have been trying to lose some weight before the big day. I have been a member of WW on and off and never seem to be able to stick with it.
I joined NutriSystems and today was my third weigh in and I am now down 9.2 pounds. I weigh in on Friday's and have 7 more weigh-ins before I go for my dress fitting.
I purchased my gown in April of this year and it came in the first week of July. Of course I ran right over to try it on and guess what - it fits like a glove - no alterations needed. I would love to lose 20 pounds before my fitting in October and will gladly pay for alterations.
I love these boards and am looking forward to talking to other Disney brides (and non Disney brides) about weight loss.

Well, I'm down 0.2 lbs on a week where I usually might show a gain, so I'm happy. I'm hoping next week's even better.
I'm loving my new Wii Fit and working out with a trainer once a week. Starting the week after next, we're going to bump it up to twice a week to try and really 'bring it home' for the wedding on Sept 30th.
Now, off to the gym!

We (DF & I) on the other hand did not not do very good. I gained 1.4 pounds and DF gained 3.6 pounds!!!!!!!!
We had out of town guests for 4 days and we ate out alot and had birthday cake and other bad things. We are on hardcore lock down this week though...No cheating AT ALL!

Aw, well you two will bounce back Lisa! Think of all the weight you already lost!
It is pretty easy, I thought eating ALL that food would make me fatter, I didn't get it lol. I guess that's why I felt like I gained.
Now any idea how you can go to a fondue resturant and still stick to WW?

I know... Iam not sweating it...We cheated our tails off this week. As for the Melting Pot....I would just save up your weekly points and declare it a cheat dinner eat what you want (we do this the night we weigh in...we go out for cheat night) and just count that as all of your weekly points!

It is how we have been doing it with great results. You can not deprive yourself of everything or you will burn out. My thoughts are if you are eating right 95% of the time then a slurge once a week isn't going to derail the rest of your hard work.

Hey all!
Well, I'm almost a year out now, so it's nearly time to try and lose a little weight and tone up a bit over the next 12 months!
My problem is, I can be a bit of a fussy eater, and I'm not especially into fruit and vegetables, I only like a limited few...
I don't really want to join Weight Watchers or Slimming World meaning I have to fork out more money every week/month, as that would cut into the wedding savings! Perhaps I could buy / get a friend to buy any relevant recipe / points books for me?
I have a Wii Fit which is a bit redundant already, but I have been dancing 4 nights a week in a summer season show, which ends this week, so I think I'll revist the Wii Fit then. How often do you girls use it?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the best diet plan for me? I know that different things suit different people, but to be honest I've never really tried a proper diet before, I've always just assumed I wouldn't be able to stick to it! So, where do I start??
Goldeelox9
08-26-2008, 09:37 AM
If I were you I would sign up for atleast a month of a program to learn all the ins and outs. I know Weight Watchers has a pay as you go program so if you only want to go once a month to weigh in or whatnot you can. I wish I would have started a year out! But I am down 36 pounds in 20 weeks so I am pretty happy!

The going out to eat is the reason we picked WW. We are able to eat all normal food and then just work out points around it.
Let us know how you did....just think that even if you cheated two nights, that is still eating good 5 nights and that is better then what you were doing (well better then what I was doing...LOL)

I have done WW before and would really work food into the program - the problem for me was I "worked" it too much. For the last two months before the wedding I need to be more focused.
I am a firm believer in WW and hope to continue that after the wedding. I am just looking for some "faster" results for now. I know this is not the best way but so far it is working.

As for me -- I was down .8 this week after following core religiously, exercising 7 days, including running 3 days. That makes up for the .8 I gained last week. 2 weeks = no net loss. :sad1: I have resigned myself to the prospect of my gown not fitting when it comes in ~ 5 weeks from now. Hi!! I'dlove to join your group! I'm getting married on May 16th (We are bride twins PrincessNewsie!) at Margaritaville, Citywalk, and Disneymooning at the Disney Sarasota Springs Resort.
I don't know how many pounds I want to lose, but I have a goal dress in a size 10...which taking into account my ****age, is probably more like a size 8. I'm currently a size 14....a snug 14. Our wedding is going to be very informal, but I found this really pretty formal white sundress on sale at Macy's for only $39! (Sounds cheap, but it's really beautiful!), so if I can't fit into it by May, it won't be any huge monetary loss.
Anyway after reading all your reviews, I'm going to start Weight Watchers online tomorrow...my lifestyle isn't really conducive to meetings. Wish me luck, I look forward to reading everyones sucesses...and can't wait to see all of you as beautiful brides!
My biggest problem will be giving up my Pepsi's. :sad2: I :lovestruc Pepsi, and hate diet anything (except Red Diamond Sweet Tea)

I can't believe they ****'d out B double O B! :lmao: I really didn't think it was a dirty or curse word. Anyway, are any of you guys frustrated about being able to find sexy bras in your size? I hate those stupid wide straps. I guess they have to be that way to keep from cutting into me, but ug! I have to have something prettier for my honeymoon! I love Victoria's Secret, but all the prettier bras don't go over 36C! So I guess that's another one of my goals....to be a 36C! :goodvibes
keenercam
09-05-2008, 04:26 PM
Tink Kel -- I was just in Lane Bryant the other day (returning some items that I ordered on line that were too big!! :woohoo: ) and I saw some gorgeous, gorgeous bras there. I think the brand is Cacique and they are so feminine and pretty. You might want to look there.
As for me, I had my biggest loss at my WW weigh in yesterday since the 2nd week of December 2006. 2.8 pounds down. :yay: I was so excited until I realized that my net loss since July 31 was some negligible amount. UGH! I think down 1.8 since that date, but I guess down is better than up.
On a scarier note -- I got a call Wednesday that my gown is in! :faint: I am not going to go see it until at least 9/20 -- this weekend is a trunk show at that salon and I don't want to deal with the crowds and I want more privacy when I try it on. And next weekend I'll be in WDW!! :) So, I guess my objective is just NOT to gain anything at all until I go, and then depending on how much too small it is, I'll decide whether to have a corset back added to it now, or to wait a bit longer to see if I can get a losing streak going.
Anyway, I started counting WW points religiously again yesterday and am really going to try to eat all of my daily points and all of my activity points every day. SOOOOOO many people by now have told me that I am working out too much and eating too little that I figure I should at least respect their advice enough to try this new approach for one full week. We'll see where I am at next week's WI, but it will likely show a "cyclical" gain. :sad1: Hoping for the best anyway, and more importantly, to be disciplined enough to follow the new suggested plan for one week.
Good luck, everyone!

My biggest issue is eating all my points though. Lately it'd be 8pm and I'd still have 13-20 points to eat...
DisneyDmbNut
09-06-2008, 11:16 AM
don't eat past 7pm!! not if you can help it!
You should not have so many points left during the day..you need to eat the points for your breakfast and lunch because you need that consistent insulin level to keep you from getting a spike and being hungry!
I would eat :
4 pts for breakfast
maybe 2 for a snack
6 or 7 for lunch
3 for an afternoon snack
7 or 8 for dinner
3 or 4 for a dessert (love the WW Smart one ice cream!)
Now..this was when I started and had 28 pts per day..Once my points lowered and I no longer needed the snacks to sustain me, I cut those out or made them lower points like celery or handful of grapes
13 points after all your meals is too many!! and eating a few hours before bed isn't good either!
ETA - For the newbies..I am Betsy 5'7" and in April 2007 I was 226 and a size 22W. I have had a lot of abdominal surgery (5 in 7 years) and gained due to lack of exercise and love of cooking. I joined WW first to lose weight for a Disney trip in June 2007 and continued it to lose for our DCL VR that was on July 25, 2008. I managed to buy the size 16 dress and then had to have it taken in 2" on each side..
Today I am 156 and a size 12! People who haven't seen me in months tell me it has taken years off my face too. That is my biggest motivation..more than all the clothes I get to buy in the regular section now..that my face looks thinner!
I don't log into WW everyday and maybe I should drop my membership because it HAS taught me how to cut my portions and eat better.
I have 6lbs to my goal if 150 (which is my pre pregnancy weight from 1998) but I have managed to remain the same since we got back from the cruise, so I am very happy!
I didn't mean to run on and on..just to give everyone some inspiration. I use to hear people say "i lost 40lbs" and try to extract every bit of information to learn how..

Great job on the loss, but I agree with Betsy. I am making the same adjustment you are. I was eating only 1-2 points for breakfast and a very light lunch and found myself eating volumes of food in the evenings (like last night). I am really trying to adjust that today.

Do y'all mind if a man joins in on your weight loss thread.
I know I've met some of you on the wedding boards and today I started on my journey to lose some weight before our wedding which is on May 24, 2009, so I am giving myself plenty of time to lose this in a healthy and controlled fashion.
So how about a little of my weight history? Sometime around 5 years old I got a little pudgy, and I was never a small kid. The most I ever weighed was about 245 lbs. at the end of my college freshman year. This was causing me knee pain so I had to lose weight, and I managed to lose 25 lbs pretty easily simply by cutting out the midnight fast food trips and soda. For the rest of my college career I was around 220, but my senior year I decided it was time to slim down and try to get cute while I was still young enough to be cute.
Anyway through the slim fast diet, healthy eating, and exercise I was able to bring myself down to the 180 range. For the next couple of years I was in really great shape, running 6 miles two or three times a week. Then I met my future husband and the bad habits started. I mean do I want to go for a six mile run, or spend time with this really great guy I just met? And then we ate dinner out all the time, and at first I was good, but after a while it was "I'll have the fries just this one time." Next thing you know I'm 210 lbs (which is just unacceptable. I mean to weigh 15 lbs. more than this man who is nearly 6 inches taller than me, no bueno). So my weight yo-yo'd down to 190, and currently I weigh 203.6 lbs (if we are going to get really specific).
My goal is to weigh 180 again and wear the t-shirt I was wearing the night I met DF to our rehearsal dinner which also happens to be our anniversary, but my super secret goal is to weigh 165 to 170. I've only been 170 once in my adult life, after my monthlong European backpacking trip.
So I'm starting with the Abs Diet online plan which worked really well for me last time I went on it for 4 months. The plan combines diet and exercise, so you eat six times a day. Portions are dictated and you can only eat whole grain wheats, and no trans fats. The exercise part involves weight training three times a week, one cardio workout, and two brisk 45 minute walks or another form of not too strenuous exercise.
I figure this is like quitting smoking. Every time I try it takes hold a little bit deeper and for a longer period of time. One of these days, it's going to stick for good :rotfl:
Oh, and I weigh in on Fridays.

Congratulations! I find losing weight to be so inspirational, people who don't have to don't realize what a sense of accomplishment it can bring.
By the way MWF are weight days, Tuesday is spin day, so on any given day feel free to ask about my workout so I can't weasel out of it.

Congratulations! I find losing weight to be so inspirational, people who don't have to don't realize what a sense of accomplishment it can bring.
By the way MWF are weight days, Tuesday is spin day, so on any given day feel free to ask about my workout so I can't weasel out of it.
Welcome!!!!!! We love new members!

Tink Kel -- I was just in Lane Bryant the other day (returning some items that I ordered on line that were too big!! ) and I saw some gorgeous, gorgeous bras there. I think the brand is Cacique and they are so feminine and pretty. You might want to look there.
As for me, I had my biggest loss at my WW weigh in yesterday since the 2nd week of December 2006. 2.8 pounds down. I was so excited until I realized that my net loss since July 31 was some negligible amount. UGH! I think down 1.8 since that date, but I guess down is better than up.
Thanks Keenercam! I'll definitely check them out. I can fit into some VS, but they have humongeous straps on them!
CONGRATULATIONS on the weight loss...you deserve a dancing banana! :goodvibes Anytime that needle is down instead of up is a reason to celebrate!!
gained .6 pounds this week! Boo Hiss! DF lost 1.6 so I am cheering for him!
Hang in there Goldeelox9, there's always time when no matter how good we are, something creeps up on us! You'll probably lose that plus some next week!!
I lost 3.2 pounds this week! Making me at 9.4 total.
My biggest issue is eating all my points though. Lately it'd be 8pm and I'd still have 13-20 points to eat...
CONGRATULATIONS!! I can't imagine having all those points left at the end of the day! I do some creative math as it is to stretch my points out as far as I can as I do! Not cheating though!
Thanks for the intro Disneydmbnut! It's nice hearing your history, you are truely an inspiration!
I lost 4.2 pounds this week. I learned that the more what I drink the more I lose
 Wow, we are a bunch of losers! Congratulations!!
Do y'all mind if a man joins in on your weight loss thread.
Welcome KingLouie! I'm sure with your motivation, you'll make your goal!
As for me...I lost 5 Pounds this week!! :woohoo: I know it will go a lot slower, I always lose quickly at the beginning of a weight loss regiment, and then as the pounds get harder to get off, I start slipping  I need to keep focused this time. I really want to be a beautiful bride, and have a fun honeymoon, not trying to dodge having my pic taken. I HATE PICTURES!! I think I have the opposite of anorexia, I see a thin person in the mirror, but when I see pictures of myself, I'm in denial...THAT. IS. NOT. ME.
Here's to us, keeping strength this week, and reaching our goals...and to looking fabulous on our wedding day!!
Good luck girls (and guy!)

Glad to hear feedback from everyone. I am still plugging away with NutriSystems. My first 4 weeks were great and then it slowed down a bit after that. I also started running out of the food I really like and it was a struggle not to eat other things (along with the fact that there were just too many end of summer parties).
I just got a new shipment of NS food that I love (well at least like) so I am back on track. Only 4 more weeks to my first fitting. Hopefully I will lose a few more between now and then. I am not looking for miracles in 4 week just alittle less water weight so my face loses that bloated look.
Congrats to everyone. DisneyDmbNut - I saw some of your before and after photos and I will say you look amazing.

Linda, I hate the bloated face look. I would rather lose the weight in my face then my behind....LOL
You are doing good and I can't wait to see the pictures from your fitting!
I weigh in tonight. I have been really good this week minus Sunday...LOL :rotfl: So hopefully I have lost that pesky weight from last week and then a few more pounds!

I just wanted to let you know that I am very sore from two days of weights and on day of spin. Why does beauty have to be so painful
On the bright side tomorrow I get a break from the gym.

Linda, have you thought of seeing if your doctor will perscribe you some water pills? I have them, and boy do I notice a difference in my face if I don't take them religiously! Water retention in a B**ch!!

Way to go! What is that saying? No pain, no gain? Don't you feel like causing pain to the people that say that?
Keep up the great work, you'll see results before you know it!

Yes yes I know, but tomorrow is not a prescribed gym day. All I have to do tomorrow is go on a walk.

I'm back again - it was a tuff week and a half but I am actually down .4 - I didn't weigh in last Friday so I am not sure what happened in between but there you have it. Only 3 more weeks to my first fitting and then 2 more after that till I am supposed to pick up the dress. Not sure how much I can accomplish in the amount of time but would love another 5 pounds.
Thanks for all the support.

So I weighed in yesterday (yes I know it's suppose to be Wednesday, but I didn't get there that day..) and I gained .4 pounds. I felt so gross lol. I know it's not a big deal, but it took a lot of willpower not to slip into my old ways.
So now I'm working on getting that off, plus more! That plus school is going to kill me! (How I LOATHE Macroeconomics! Lol)

I'm hovering at 166 and i don't know why... i need to commit better to working out, i think i have to join a gym other than my one at work. it's 30 miles away so it only works when i work a 12.5 hour shift and it's SO hard to have a quality exercise after working allllll night and being pooped and just wanting to go home.
i was thinking of switching to nutrisystems in march for two months to lose the last few pounds. any opinions?
