I-77 Woes

I just heard that there are major delays on I-77 in N. Caroilina. We will be travelling that route on our way to GA and then HH. Any suggestions? We are staying in Statesville, NC the first night. Thanks.

Hi Walter-
Where are you hearing the delays are? I live in NC and travel from Huntersville (between Statesville and Charlotte) to the NC/SC state line via I-77 every day to work. There is construction through the north part of Charlotte, but no lanes closed. I go during rush hour daily and never encounter construction delays (regular rush hour delays, but nothing new since they started construction). We are leaving next week and driving down, so if the problem is further south, I'd like to know what other have to say too.

According to this individual, it is north of Charlotte at mile marker 82 in each direction (down to one lane). Does anyone have an alternate route to bypass this area? Thanks.
