has broken down last friday and is still in the garage, its something to do with the cambelt and the pistons etc.. looks like its going to cost mega bucks to get it fixed...:worried: its a ford escort and i've had it a few years and its been a great car.
couldnt of happened at a worse time really- with dd expecting her first baby last saturday and me being the transport to the hospital.. the garage doesnt think it will be fixed until thurs or fri and of course this depends on the price to get it fixed though.. well it looks like i will have to look for a cheap runaround for now:(

Oh no! I hope it gets sorted for you! I'd be lost without my little car... (A Ford Ka named Kat...).... Really hope it can be fixed soon!

And good luck to your DD with a baby on the way!

I hope you get it sorted soon. I know what you mean about escorts, we are on our 3rd and love it.

cars are just money pits. I hate spending money having repairs done. especially when you get the bill and the part is £3.13 and the labour is £200+.

That's how I ended up with my little Ka Jeanette. My Espace cost me hundreds in repairs over a couple of months, and in the end hubby suggested getting a little run-around, and I love it :thumbsup2

I know it's already been mentioned, but can you not have a word about a courtesy car+explain to them about dd needing you as her taxi as such.x.

well the cost is going to be around the £760 mark
its the cambelt and the valves and guys or something like that..
last time it broke down it was the day before our holiday to florida and it was the clutch pedal then.
thanks for suggesting the courtesy car i think i'll go and ring our breakdown services about that one.

cambelts are a nightmare, once they go its always an expensive job, and they can go on any car at any time it seems.
i always get mine changed now when i get my car serviced after a nightmare breakdown years ago being stuck in themiddle of nowhere on my own with no phone

Hope DD hangs onto that baby until its fixed:)I'm hoping so, but she's been having a few niggly pains through the night

no-i'm not entitled to a courtesy car through my breakdown cover, which i'm really peeved off about as i pay the full whack, so i will be changing to a different company now.

What a pain to happen now. Cars are so expensive. Hope you get it sorted. For peace of mind with the baby etc could you rent a car for a week?
