Care to join me?

I've been reading the W.I.S.H forum lately this summer.
I've lost 14 pounds since January and even if that's not much for months, I figured it was from our gym workouts at school and it really pushed me to go along with it.
Last year I exercised like crazy and it did seem to drop me a couple pounds, though I was too afraid to step on the scale. xD

I decided on Monday that trip to sonic would be my last soda.
I was drinking 2-3 diet soda everday, and then cut it down to one every other day.
I then figured I could do it, and now haven't had one soda for a week and have been drinking around 3 water bottles a day and milk from my cereal and I feel great! I haven't had any headaches yet, and even without the caffine I'm doing good. I have no plans to touch another soda and I don't even crave any.
I've been drinking green tea occasionally and juice along with other less sugary drinks.

Right now I want to lose 10 pounds by the time school starts back up in August or more, and I think it'd be fun if I had friends that were also trying to get healthy and exercise! Like an extra motivation. I know we had a thread like this before I went to disney last summer and I hope this one sticks.
Then I eventually want to lose another 10 by next summer. 20 pounds in a year sounds good to me. :thumbsup2
I'm far from fat, but it's more of being at a healthy weight and healthy altogether.
I seem to have more problems with my thighs and my stomach.

I went through my closet yesterday and most of my clothes were way too big, which made me even more eager to start eating better and exercise.
As of right now my main goal is more of getting rid of my junk foods, all the unhealthy stuff I eat and find new healthier foods that I can eat.
I'm working on portion control and not overeating and snacking when I'm bored. It's my main concern more than exercising but I will be getting to that this month.

I plan on dragging out my moms exercise bike and riding it everyday along with pilates or yoga.
I also want to start running everyday in the morning. I hope to start my exercising by the end of this week.
We don't have a gym around here to go to, so I'll be doing whatever I can at home.

Anyways if anybody wants to join me, talk about your progress and goals, whatever you'd like. Or if anyone has advice or tips feel free to share.
You don't have to post your weight, you can just post your goals if you don't feel comfortable with saying.
Have fun, and I hope this helps motivate others! :goodvibes

Goal for the week: Get off my butt and away from this computer so I can exercise. :D

ETA: Also reminded by Rachel (I believe) if anyone needs to gain pounds you're welcome to join. It's all about being healthy, wether it's gaining or losing. :)

At my house we have a treadmill, and i never use it,cause i am always on the computer.I also have a pool in my backyard that i never go in.

I would like to lose up 20 pounds as soon as possible so i can wear a bathing suit and not be embarresed by my weight.

I need to start getting a lot healthier

I'm planning on doing two school sports when I go back to school and one of them starts off in the summer so I need to start to be more fit earlier.

I don't just want to do a sport in the fall then be lazy all through the rest of the year so I decided to try to do a spring sport too.
I'm doing tennis in the fall and lacrosse in the spring. I'm really excited for that. I used to be really active and I don't really know what happened, I got caught up in school and my music and everything really just sat on the back burner.
I'm not too sure how to start but I want to cut back on soda, I usually have like 3 a day.

I'll post more plans when I have them.

I have to get healthier... Whenever I say to myself something like "I'll go up to the park and do something" I end up ignoring it... just today, I said "I'll only drink today whenever I feel hungry up until dinner" then about 2 hours later, i've eaten 3 slices of toast with jam on, and a pack of crisps...
I have a skipping rope somewhere in the house, but I don't know where it is now.

So my goal for the week, actually getting up from the computer and do something.

On Monday I'm adding the Special K Challenge to my regular workouts. I have been basically on vacation from working out and eating well (have been going out a lot due to trips and family) and I'm starting to feel the effects of it.

Basically I alternate cardio and strength training with balance from the stability ball and some really fun dancing videos, the treadmill, etc.

I'm normally in really good shape and it feels excellent when you are, you should if anything aim to be fit so you feel more energetic and confident. At a young age you shouldn't be so concerned about weight because you are still growing and shaping into the adult body you will have.
I can say that because I'm a legal adult now, haha.

But I'd more than love to join and help you!

My current problem is when to exercise, I either wake up my mother at 5 am or have to workout at night to avoid sweating so excessively, even with fans. I wish I could go outside to work out but it's not safe where I live.

I'm with ya......I am not unhealthy, but I'm not in the best shape either. I don't drink much coke (sorry, I call sodas cokes) I can probably excersise more...We installed a pool this spring....and that's great excersise. Unfortunately, I have swimmer's ear right now, so I really can't exercise. But walk nightly and swim....I think that's great for me.

My goal, I guess is to feel better about myself. Not weight or inches, but self-esteem.

Thanks for the support everyone! (Ugh, sorry for the long posts, another one comin'.)

As for the computer, basically that's my problem too.
I have a hard time parting from my music I play on my computer and when I try to exercise with my zune my earbuds always fall out and my zune is a little too big to carry around.
I do have a CD player but I haven't gotton around to putting all my songs on a disc, so I guess I'm just making excuses. xD
I usually just shut my computer (Since I have a laptop) and when I get the urge to open it, think about how I can get on later when I exercise.

I also have a pool, but I'm not really fond of swimming. I hate getting wet (Even though I'm ok after I'm in) and it's a pain having to dry my hair and it being all curly afterwards. I think I'll start going everyday and swimming a lot.

I don't play sports in school really only because I'm not good at sports.
For the soda thing, I'd always wanted to quit drinking it. Maybe one week try and cut down to 2 sodas a day, then the next week go to 1. Then one every other day until you feel like you can completely quit. Warning you will most likely have severe headaches from lack of caffine, but they will go away.
The first time I just stopped drinking my pop and the headaches were horrible, so I'd go get one and get hooked again. After awhile of quitting and coming back, I decided to take it slow and drink 1 a day. Then 1 every other day and now none. I haven't had any headaches since I gave it up.
Good luck! I know it's hard. Make sure to drink lots of water so you don't get dehydrated!

I always had a problem with snacking when I was bored and I'm still working on it. Usually I'll just get a water and drink some of it and I'll feel better and not hungry.

I've always ate Frosted Flakes for breakfast. :headache:
After they are gone I'm not putting them on the grocery list anymore, I think I'm going with honey bunches of oats, cheerios, or try Special K.

All we have is an exercise bike and a yoga mat. I wish we had a treadmill, but I guess I'll just have to go walking instead. I wish we had a treadmill so I could see how far I've walked or ran though. We don't have videos or anything so it's sort of hard for me to figure out what I want to do.
My room is pretty small and we don't have any extra room for treadmills anywhere which is why we don't really have anything.

I love getting up early in the mornings, so I think I'm going to start getting up earlier now and working out.
Also I always hear that you shouldn't work out at night? Can anyone clarify why for me?
I read it somewhere but seem to have forgotton and I think I'd like working out during the later evening and early morning more than I would during the day. Those are the times I feel most energized.

Oh it doesn't matter I call it soda, coke, pop, I just call it soda on here though. :p

I would love to join you as well. This past week I have been working on portion controls, not eating when I am bored and what I eat. I have also been doing exercise videos since I don't really have the money or the want to join a gym.

Make a diary or a journal about your eating habits, and your exercise habits every day, if you eat something, or exercise, even walk to school, write it down.

Try and be as active as you can, while you wait for the computer to start, or if there's a commercial on TV, do jumping jacks while you wait. Even cleaning house is good, especially raking leaves, it burns almost 300 calories in an hour.
If you have a dog, walk it, and if you don't but there's an animal shelter near by, volunteer to walk those dogs. If the temperature is over 90, then you should just do a moderate, casual walk and bring a lot of water to keep you hydrated, if you're near water, or are going somewhere near water, go canoing, swimming, kayaking, fishing, or go waterskiing.
If you want to be slimmer, but not muscular, yoga is the best to do. Invest in a good yoga video, it's usually better if it's longer. If you can, go to the library and test out some. The one I have that is my favourite is called Essential Yoga, I bought it the last time I was in Canada, and I don't know where you can buy it other than online here, http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6651342
It's a really good video, it has beginner and advanced poses, and breathing exercises, and it's two hours of different styles, so you have variety.

Instead of eating three large meals every day, eat 5 or 6 smaller ones.
Have cereal, toast, or something smaller to eat for breakfast, then sometime between that and lunch, have a snack like a handful of cereal, trail mix, nuts, air popped popcorn(if you look inside a bag of microwave popcorn, you'll realize why you should use air popped), yogurt, fresh fruit or vegetables(green pepper is AMAZING, it's got a ton of Vitamin C). then for lunch, have smaller portions, then in between lunch and dinner, have another snack. When you choose fruit and vegetables, choose brighter coloured ones because they have more nutrients.
And for desert if you want, make a fruit smoothie. I have smoothies for a full meal sometimes. You don't need a recipe, just throw whatever fruit you have in your house in it, blend it, and drink it.
Don't forget about your dairy and grains, switch to whole wheat foods, drink a lot of milk and eat a lot of cheese and yogurt. Snacks should be around 100-200 calories, try not to eat any snacks over 300.
For protein, you don't have to always eat meat, tofu, nuts, and eggs are amazing. Eat leaner meats like chicken and fish more often than steak and hamburgers.
Plan your bigger meals about three hours apart, with a snack between each one, it's better for your energy.

Ideas for great snacks are...
tuna or cheese and crackers
vegetables and hummus or another dip
fruit
nuts, or trail mix
seeds
peanut butter, or any other nut butter and fruit
a slice of whole grain break, and peanut butter or a fruity jam
a muffin
multigrain tortilla chips and vegetable salsa
a handful of pretzels(less salty is better)
switch to frozen yogurt instead of ice cream,
dried fruit instead of candy,
green tea instead of any coffee drink, actually... just drink green tea, it's really healthy,
granola bars instead of chocolate bars.
And don't forget to drink a ton of water!

Sorry my post is so big, but it should be really helpful.

If you don't want headphones, there are small portable speakers that you can get to plug into the headphone thing, they're usually less that $30.
Eat either cheerios or special K(the regular kind has less calories), the original ones are 100 for Cheerios and 110 for Special K, well I'm pretty sure.
If you can't get a yoga video, go on youtube and search for yoga videos. Sun salutations are easy, and there's a ton of videos on them, there's only a few steps so it's easy to remember too.

And the times you work out are up to you, I work out best at night, but you have to test it out yourself and see what your body loves best. If you work out at night, make sure you get plenty of rest earlier in the day so that you aren't tired when you do. And working out in the heat is worse for your body, so try and keep the place you work out to a cooler temperature.
I have these bandana-type things that have something inside that expands when wet, you soak it in cool water, and it stays cool for almost 5 hours, you just put it around your neck and you stay really cool in hot temperatures.

I do Billy Blanks tae bo too.
http://www.billyblanks.com/
He's really motivational, and it's something that actually works as long as you continue using it, that's the problem with a lot of people, they start using it, then as soon as they get to where they want, they stop doing it, so once you get to your goal, set new ones and just keep on working.

We don't have videos or anything so it's sort of hard for me to figure out what I want to do.
My room is pretty small and we don't have any extra room for treadmills anywhere which is why we don't really have anything.

I have that same problem.
We transform our guest room into a home gym (bowflex, treadmill, equipment, etc) when no one is staying in it. But I can suggest a couple of DVDs you can get that will not require a whole lot of room or equipment.

Most of my videos are from theFIRM and they are excellent videos, though a bit fast paced. I was a dancer for several years so I catch on fast, but if you watch them enough you can get everything down pat and it's a lot more fun. You might even be a better dancer by the end of it. My favorite is Cardio Party which doesn't require any equipment, but it's a bonus DVD you get with a set so I don't know if you'll be able to find it by itself.

Basically if you buy a set of 2 or 3 pairs of light dumbbells and a stability ball, you can find a lot of videos to work with, that's the majority of what I do. But also there are Walk Away the Pounds DVDs that you can get and basically you march in place and it really does give you a workout! Haha.
Swimming is my favorite for summertime but I can't always do it.

Find stuff that is fun and you can mix up your routine with so you won't give up! I always type too much, lol.

i too am trying to get healthier.

i've cut way down on my calorie intake, and i am exercising more. i've already slimmed down a good bit, but i'm far from my goal. i don't have a weight goal, because i don't wanna get caught up in the numbers. i just wanna be happy with the overall appearance of my body, which, day by day, i am closer to. i love my legs and my arms, so only a little farther to go until i'm at a place i want to be.

i think i've lost about 20lbs since i started.

Ally,
THANK YOU!
That was all very helpful.
I definately will start writing down everything I eat, starting tomorrow morning.
I need to start walking home from school everyday instead of having my mom pick me up. She comes by my school everyday to pick up my brother so she gets me too, but I should just walk for exercise because my house isn't that far away.

I never thought about the speaker idea, I'll have to look into it!
We did tae bo in gym this year. It was hard work, but you could definately feel that your muscles were working.
I'm pretty sure we have some of those tapes around here I'll have to dig up.

Walking is great for the environment and yourself, and with the gas prices it's the best way to travel right now.You should be able to find speakers at any electronics store, or anywhere with an electronics section. If you do tae bo, try and get exercise bands too, even though you can do the workout with out them, it's better to use them.

i technically am not "overweight" because i'm so into sports that I have so much muscle. I do, however, want to slim down a little.
only about ten pounds or so.

i'm not really built to be the like 5'7 130 lb girl.
so i'm just trying to get healthier.
i'm not that out of shape since i do bball/tennis but i do need to get into better shape.

over the past couple years i've gotten a lot better on my food intake but i still need to work on it.

good to know there are others with the same goals!

I'm gonna join y'all.
I probably will be a little bit more of a slacker, because I find it difficult to eat healthy, I'm just not used to it. I'll have to start going to get the groceries with my dad when he does so I have control over what I do eat.

But this week, I'm giving up my my pop. The minute that the last bottle Pepsi is gone, I'm done. The reason I waited for this, is I hate Presidents Choice version of Coke, and refuse to drink it. I can give it up, and I have before.

I need to get to work on the exercise. I cannot go to a gym, I do not have the time or the money, so I'm going to stick to using my Gazelle (you know those exercise machines that kind of look like a set of skis hanging in the air and you pull yourself forward with them?) and walking almost anywhere I can. I don't always find the time to do it, I prefer to exercise when weight loss shows are on, it inspires me to work harder and actually exercise. Otherwise, if I'm just standing there, I end up swinging my legs back and forth.

I'm not happy with the way I look right now. I'm aware that I've gained weight in the past couple of years, and I'm getting tired of always seeing my pants size go up. Especially because I don't look that big, I look tiny, but I'm not. The area's that bug me the most are:

The area around my armpit. You know armpit flab? I had my bikini top on briefly this morning, and it was so tight. I need to go get a bigger sized one (this is not only due to armpit flab, I seem have gotten bigger in the bust).

Underneath my bust. When I have a bra on it pushes on the fat near my ribcage and you can totally see it. The same kind of happens in the back. This bothers me a lot.

My stomach in general. When I sit down at school or somewhere, I always have my arms around my stomach because it looks fatter when I sit down. The only time I don't do this is if I have a hoodie on.

I also hate my hips and my thighs. It's impossible for me to find pants, they fit my hips but don't fit my legs. And I have to make sure that my pants are pulled up at the right spot, or it looks like I have fat rolls hanging over. And my thighs, they rub together when I walk, thus destroying my pants and making it uncomfortable to wear dresses.

Those are the main things I would really like to fix. One of the weight loss shows I watch is called Bulging Brides. In each episode there's a woman who can't fit into the wedding dress she bought, and she wants to look her best on her wedding day. She goes on a fitness and healthy diet for 6 weeks with a personal trainer to help her. This show basically has me starting to worry right now, that if I don't start getting healthy now, that in the future, I could end up in the same place as they are. Also, at the beginning of each episode, they tell the women what is in their favorite food that they eat all the time. And the amount of calories is crazy.

I want to slim down a little this summer, too.

From last summer, I've lost 15 or so pounds.
Some of that was probably just "losing baby fat," but I also lost a lot from running insane amounts for lacrosse.

I'm at a healthy weight range now (I'm obsessed with looking up my BMI) but I want to lose another 10 or so pounds over the summer.
Honestly, it's because I want to get into doing commercials and things, so that I can work my way up into an acting career, and I have to get a little bit skinnier for that to be an option.

I want to run after work everyday, and maybe do SlimFast.
Has anyone used SLimFast before? Is it unhealthy?

I've HEARD that Slimfast is unhealthy. But I don't honestly know.

I've calculated my calories for the day, and I'm about 500 under what I should be eating. I'm in the middle of exercise (watching tv while I do it, sometimes taking breaks on commercials), and after I'm going to have water and cucumber.
Cucumber has like no calories =)

Same with celery, both are negative calorie foods. So they burn more calories to digest than the calories in the food.
There's a ton of other fruits and vegetables that are like that too...

How many calories are you suppose to have a day?
I always read different things and I'm confused.

So far I've got around 900 calories today.

Because I was stupid and took some chocolate. -_-
But I wrote it down. And I won't do it again. xD

ETA:
It's hard to get rid of some of the junk food too, because I'm not the only one living here.
Even though I'm giving up all the chocolate (I will succeed with that) and soda, it'll all still be there because everyone else eats it.
The soda, isn't so hard, but the chocolate like draws me, and it's hard to not take some.

i would like to join as well. this is my first summer of not going to camp, so i will be at home alone a lot of the time. i am not aloud to leave my property, so i have to be indoors. i cant excercise much in my house. i feel that i will eat a lot so i will slow down. dance classes are over for the summer, so i wont get a lot of excersise, besides swimming. i will do 12 laps a day. so i will eat a lot better and maybe go in the celler with my dads excercise equipment. i cant really use my knees harshly, because i have a knee problem. so, i will do as much as i can.

goal: loose 5 pounds. my friends used to be able to pick me up... but i am too heavy now. so it wont hurt loosing 5 pounds.
:wishfive
^ i think this is for loosing weight... but i am not sure.

My gosh Kayla, don't beat yourself up over chocolate. 900 isn't even close to what you need. For most teens, it's 1500 calories. If you go to Self.com they actually have a thing to find your healthy weight, and calorie intake. I have no idea how accurate it is, because you're supposed to be like 25 to use it, so I always have a fake age in there...

I'm sure there are others.
I've had around 1039 today because I don't eat lunch on Sundays because I usually have a good big meal at supper. So I just snack at random intervals.

Anyhoo, I hope to lose 7 pounds. I'm not setting a time interval, because then I'll stress. I'm hoping I can get exercise in everyday. I'm not sure if I will have time tomorrow, I may do it in the morning. I prefer to exercise at night, but I have to work tomorrow night. I'm now a bit more motivated to exercise because my friend put up a bunch of pictures of me on Facebook that so sick. You can see my armpit flab, and my stomach sticking out a bit. I've been aware that I had this problem, but I never knew it was so noticeable.

Oh, I know. We always have a bigger dinner (Which I'm eating now), that'll bring me up to around there.

It's just everytime I usually give into something, I like completely lose it, and end up back on it.
It's what happened to me with soda. I quit then one day I gave in and went exactly back to square one. And it annoys me, so I figure if I give in, I'll completely lose it.

Thanks.

Those Walk Away the Pounds videos are pretty good. I used to have the VHS of one but it broke. You don't need much room at all...as someone said before me, you just pretty much march in place. They have different ones like one mile, two mile and fat burner I think. The woman's name is Leslie Sansone. I think that I will look into buying a new one.

Don't worry, if you focus, you can do it. And if you can do it once, you can do it again.
I've given up pop before. Once for lent, even though it's not a part of my religion, and then again last year to get off the caffeine because I'm pretty much addicted to it. Each time I went for MONTHS without it, I was fine. I went cold turkey, I just stopped. If I have something once, I want it more. It's easier for me to not drink it at all, than to never drink it. The last time, the reason I gave up was because I was constantly going camping and stuff, so I'd be eating a lot of McDonalds, so I'd just get pop with it. And after that, I just kept drinking it.
I think I may have tried again in March, but the caffeine withdrawal was AWFUL. Hopefully this time it won't be. I'm done with pop for a while now.

Tonight I used my skii machine or whatever it is for an hour, and did some exercise with my exercise ball.

Easy way to lose weight - Chemo. ;)
Seriously, you get so nauseated you vomit 24/7 and won't eat for 3+ days. I'm down 40 pounds in 9 months.

My body build is naturally large. I used to be very muscley and I still have a large frame. The weight I'm at now, I'm totally comfy with, but it's not proportionate to my frame. In the 3 months, almost, since I've finished chemo, I've gained around 3.5 pounds... ALL muscle. I'm trying to gain weight, but make it as much muscle and as less fat as possible.

Portion Control. Eat smaller meals more often. IE breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack.
Personally, I find Honey Nut Cheerios, granola bars, trail mix, sugar free/fat free stuff, and baked/smart choice stuff yummier. IE Baked Cheetos/Doritos, Honey Wheat Pretzles, Sugar Free/Fat Free pudding/jello, and Fat Free Popcorn.
For days you don't want to eat, or just want nutrients, go for an Ensure drink. They're like Pedialyte for adults, and come in chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry.

Since I can't really walk long distances, I stick to stretches, weights, and the bike. All good muscle builders.

Good Luck everyone!

I'm going to join in.

I am not fat by any means, but I just want to start eating healthier and lose a few pounds. I'm hoping to lose 10 pounds by the time school starts, and be down 20 pounds by next May for my trip to Disney World.

My problem is eating too much and not exercising at all. I was doing pretty good with the exercising earlier this year, but then I just got too lazy and stopped. I also want to give up the pop, because I have a slight obsession with caffeine.

The areas I'm most self conscious about are my thighs and my stomach, so I'm going to be working on those a bit more. I own the Walk Away The Pounds videos that someone above mentioned, and they are pretty fun and really easy to do, so I'm going to start up with those again.

wow that post was way longer than I wanted it to be. xD

Hey! I'll join ya! I want to lose a few pounds but I want to tone up my stomach and lose some other stuff on my body. lol I too have been drinking more and more water. I've been cutting down on what I eat a lot...not intentionally I don't think. I just haven't been hungry. I've been running a lot and I'm going to start a vertical exercise plan for volleyball tomorrow to improve my veritcal and speed. I'm ok with my body, I'm just a little self conscience about my stomach area. I have been toning up a lot and losing weight though so I'm happy. My goal is to feel good in a bikini by the end of summer and at the rate I'm going now, I should be able to soon. =)

I too have been getting healthier. I hate the numbers on the scale so my goal was to be happy in summer clothes by disney. well my trip is at the end of this week and I'm pretty close to my goal. Even family members are noticing and saying how good I look! Its not like I was uber heavy or anything, i just wanted to tone up and with a vigorous workout every day, watching calorie intake, special k, and LOTS of water I really notice a difference. Here's to being healthier! :thumbsup2

First of all, I want to say congratulations on trying to be healthy! It's something more teens should definitely do!

I've had a hard time with my weight because I had an undiagnosed thyroid problem for years! They finally found it a couple months ago and now I'm on medicine so I'll be able to start losing weight (yeah, I'm overweight, but I eat a balanced diet and I don't drink soda or sugary drinks and I play softball) so I'll definitely join this.

Here are a few DVD's I recommend:
Turbo Jam: It's a fast paced workout with great music. All the workouts on the DVD are fun, and you can do it at your own pace, and Chalene Johnson does a good job leading it.
Yoga Booty Ballet: It's a fun dance, strength, and cardio workout. You can do it a few times a week and slim down.
Slim in 6: It's a six week workout plan that you'll definitely tone up on (I've done it for a few weeks and the scale doesn't move much, but you can definitely tell you have strengthened and gained muscle)

Some tips:
1. Complaining about yourself is going to make you feel worse so don't go around telling yourself that you're fat. Find something you like about yourself everyday like your smile, or your eyes, and then remind yourself that you want to become healthy. When you wake up, stretch and plan your meals and exercise time - even if it’s just a walk. The stretch will help you wake up and get the blood flowing and feel positive, great way to start your morning!

2. Also be sure to drink a cup of water within 30 minutes of waking up, as you lose some water while you sleep, and just a 2% drop of the water in your body can cause you to feel bad.

3. Make diet and exercise changes slowly. Just starting into a vigorous workout schedule can make you tired and less motivated when you expect big changes. Just start out trying to walk 30 minutes a day for a few weeks, and then add something else. You'll still get the same benefit. For the diet change: slowly add healthy foods such as whole grain bread products (it takes a while to get used to, but once you've eaten for a month, you'll find it more satisfying) and adding more fruits and vegetables in with you meals or as snacks. Making sudden drastic diet changes will cause cravings.

4. Invest in a magazine subscription to a fitness and health magazine such as Women's or Men's Fitness, Prevention, Self, I'm sure you can find others looking through the magazine section of your store.

Hope you don't mind my huge post, and find the tips I've provided helpful!

I'll join in.
I can't promise many updates but I'll be sure to read to keep motivated.

Since I got my Wii Fit I've lost about 4 lbs! I'm actually surprised that I lost any weight at all!!! My goal is to have a BMI of 22.50, I'm currently at 23.77. (It changes everyday according to my Wii Fit, goes up a bit if I gained, down a bit if I lose) My goal is to achieve this by the time I go to Florida which is August 11. So I think a month and a half is a fair amount of time to lose about 7-8 lbs.
I weigh about 148lbs right now and my goal is to weigh 140lbs by Disney and to look good in a bikini again!!!

A couple yrs ago I weighed about 130lbs (but i didn't have b**bs, hips or a butt back then) so I realize that I won't be able to get back down to 130lbs without losing my favourite body parts!! SO I think 140lbs is a safe and healthy weight for me.

I'm REALLY not into calorie counting or limiting my food intake, I eat relativley healthily, so I'm not too worried about the eating part it's just the working out part that I hope works for me! I'll have to try and limit my ice cream intake though!!! I've bought a ton of popsicles to tide me over because I NEED my fix of something sweet!!!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! Stay motivated, stay healthy and STAY POSITIVE!!

I'm so in on trying this...

My one problome is when i start trying to lose weight i end up getting anorexic tendencys...So i can't chart food intake or i freak out and won't eat for a day or if i do i have to exersize until i pass out.

I think i'll try adding swimming in...and maybe walking but hte fires around here are making the air near immpossible to breath...i weight 150ish...i wanna lose 10lbs before school and 20-30 by next summer...I want to be able to wear a bikini for once!

I have what people describe as child bearing hips...Sooo they make me seem a little off...And all i ever lose is my chest which i really don't need to lose anymore of...Sooooooooooo lets hope this works for me...

CosmoGirl and seventeen have good workouts in them too...

See, my problem is staying hydrated. Going thru chemo, I would constantly be dehydrated. Doctors would encourage me to drink, but I was just too nauseated. I would then get hooked up to an IV and have bags of fluids pumped into me. (Nevermind the going pee every 20 minutes, even tho I have an abnormally large bladder)

It's still hard for me to drink what I need. Some days I'll be on a water kick and it's all I'll drink, and others I won't even touch it. I'm cutting out soda, as is my whole family. Know those small little Smuckers Jelly glass jars?
http://images.wikia.com/muppet/images/b/b3/WelchsMuppetsInSpace.jpg

I have 1 of those a day, 2 at the most, with soda. Other than that it's apple juice (in moderation, gives me bowel problems) OJ, iced tea, or milk. During chemo I was on a BIG milk kick, it was all I would drink for days on end.

I was 160 pounds when I started chemo. I finished at around 126ish. I'm now at 130 pounds. I like this weight, so once I can exercise more once my knee gets better, I'm going to try to keep this weight. Gain as much muscle as possible, but still maintain a healthy weight. Before I was "at risk for being oveweight" and now I'm "healthy".

Oh, and just because you don't drop sizes, doesn't mean you aren't losing weight. I stayed the same size in tops, and lost 1-2 pant sizes. Focus on the numbers, not the sizes.

Oh do I ever hear you!

I think a good rule is just to eat half of everything on your plate except fruits and veggies, unless you are truly ravenously hungry, then chow down! XD Drink only water and iced tea. That way you won't have to write down everything and you won't feel bad when you realize later that you ate too much, just remind yourself that it'll be ok if you get back on track. C:
And hey, having varied amounts of calories throughout the days makes your metabolism work better. It's how nature works.

As for the wide hips, no worries - most guys I have met like mine.
And they give you shape.
It's unfortunate that pear shaped people always lose weight in the bra area fastest, but it'll even out eventually.

Well breakfast went good. I had some watermelon and one slice of toast. I used to eat two, but I really don't need the extra butter. Two TEASPOONS has enough fat there to kill someone. It's not actually butter, it's like margerine? I'm not sure, but it's not good for me.

Later I'll probably have and ice cream sandwich for a snack, and then around 4 I'm having supper and then I'm off to work. So I won't have a lot of food with me, I might have to have a small snack when I get off work.

I'm starting to write everything down today.
Eating breakfast now, had this container thing of honey nut cheerios and a cup of milk. Which actually turns out to be a lot of milk.
Near lunch I'll probably have this mixed berry granola bar.
Then around 3 I'll find another snack.
We'll eat dinner around 6 or 7, and I'm not sure what I'll be having.

Friday I'm gonna drag out the exercise bike again, find some tae bo videos, and this one pilates one I know we have.
I'll just take it slow though, exercise bike a half mile on day, and then start adding on different things.
I haven't worked out since school was out a month ago, so I don't want to suddenly start working.

Good Luck everyone!

Sure, I'll join. Yesterday was a good day to get all my junk food out of the way. Baseball games can be the end of a good diet. You just get so bored, all you do is eat xD

Well, I really don't like my body. I don't mind my weight, it's just my shape. I just found out what my body shape is called. I'm pear shaped.

http://www.4woman.gov/faq/pix/weight01.gif

I hate being pear shaped. I researched about it last night, and all the fat goes to our hips, butt, and thighs.

People with a Pear Body Shape have hips wider than their shoulders because their bodies store fat there and on the thighs. Pear shaped bodies carry their extra weight below the waistline, and do not seem to have as high a risk of developing health problems like diabetes, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, ... than people with an Apple Body Shape.

Pear shaped people usually lose fat in the upper body, so their overall shape doesn't change much when they lose weight.

I'm fine with above my waist, but once ya get to below the waistline...:worried:

I'm more of an apple shape or banana/ruler shape.
I have very little curves (banana/ruler) and most of my weight goes to my upper body or backside (banana/ruler and apple) The only exception is my thighs, muscley in the front, flabby in the back.

Hm.
I've written everything down and dinner is in about 4 hours.
I haven't had many calories today. Only around 500.
I could sneak some more chocolate, but I don't really feel like it.
I'm not hungry since I just ate an apple. I'll see what we have for dinner.
I don't want it to end up being too low...but I don't want to eat when I'm not hungry either. Hmm.

I think tomorrow I'll go for a walk around the block for awhile.
Unless I can find someone who wants to go to like sonic and maybe I'll get a strawberry smoothie or water or something.

Books are starting to intrest me more today so I might get the bicycle out tomorrow and read while I cycle for awhile.

500 is WAY too little!
You're gonna starve yourself!
2000 is the normal amount of calories you should have, but if you're trying to lose weight, it should be about 1600-1800.

I haven't hit 1000 yet, as I've been snacking on things with next to no calories all day.

HI! I am not looking to loose weight and I am a healthy person. I'm looking to condition my body for soccer in the fall (it's my first time playing) and to tone up my muscles. But for those looking to loose weight and become healthy here is my opinion:
Back in January I was having extreme stomach issues. I was back and forth to the hospital and always sick. It was insane. Long story short my doctors found out I had an allergy. They found I was allergic to milk as well as artificial sugar. The doctor told me that our bodies weren't meant to digest artifical sugars that are put in so many things. And essentially while those sugars aren't deadly, they are not good for you. So I began looking at the ingrediant labels on every package and found that almost every snack food and even healthier foods had artifical sugar. High Fructose Corn Syrup is the killer. It is used as a perservative, which is why the things found in your kitchen pantry or closet have a longer shelf life than the things in the refridgerator do. My advice is to try and eliminate it from your diet. Now trust me it's not going to be easy but as I have been doing it for about 6 months now, it is possible. I have a harder restriction though because i can't have dairy, so i'm sure it will be a bit easier for you. My typical menu goes as follows:
Breakfast ~
Life Cereal (now you can have any cereal but life is the only one without milk)
2 Slices of Bacon (you may want to stay away from it if you are trying to loose weight but it can provide protein and a good treat every once and while)
Fruit
Orange Juice

Morning Snack ~
Fruit
Nature Valley Granola Bars
Pretzals (only certain kinds)
Totilla Chips
Peanut Butter
Water

Lunch ~
Any lunch meat on a tortilla wrap
Fruit/Veggies
Water
Cereal/Nuts

Afternoon Snack~
same as above

Dinner ~
Any Meat
Rice or Potato (stay away from boxed potatoes they are more fattening)
Vegetable
Water

Dessert ~
Bakery Goods (have no artifiical sugar but should be precautioned and eaten as a treat)
Popsicles (check the labels)
Fruit and whipped cream (check labels)
Fruit Smoothies

Now remember I have a milk allergy as well so i'm sure you will have more options as to other things. Also, make sure you portion size and watch your fat and calorie content. Like other posters said you can have up to 1500 calories a day (about), and don't forget to drink lots of water and excercise as well!! Good luck in achieveing your goals!!!

this is a great idea! i started a thread like this last year and people were really into it (or so it seemed. haha) but i couldnt keep up with keeping it updated. mine was more of ways you could become healthier.

i am a cheerleader 24/7 and gymnast and last year i got very sick from not getting enough calories to go along with my lifestyle. i went to a nutritionist and he found out that i have a very high metabolism and the normal calorie intake for someone my age is to little for me so i have to eat more...but healthy at the same time.

so in response to that i eat an all natural diet. i don't eat steak...but am not vegitarian. if i am going to eat meat i make sure it is chicken or fish. plus i rarely eat fast food. if i am going to eat fast food it is subway.

i really hope people stick with this with kayla!! in the long run eating right and exercising is so rewarding and gives you self confidence!

I'm joining you! I just got a new swimsuit to use as inspiration. My goal is to look good in it (in my opinion) in time for my end-of-August trip to WDW.

I'd like to lost 20 lbs of fat or more and gain 10 lbs of muscle, so I hope to end at around 135/140 lbs or slightly over.

Today I ran 2.005 miles during a 32:17 minute workout that consisted of 10 minutes running at 5 mph, 10 minutes walking at 3 and 3.5 mph, and 10 minutes running at 4, 4.5, and 5 mph. I burnt off just over 300 calories.

and incase anybody wants to use it (I haven't read the thread through yet so I don't know if anybody has mentioned it), Nike has a fitness tracker at http://www.nike.com/trainingtool/v3/web/training_shell.html .

Okay, I kind of killed myself on my breakfast. I had THREE homemade rolls. Two would have been enough, but I have a headache this morning and if I eat a large breakfast it goes away. I'm not sure if it's time for a headache or if it's the caffeine withdrawl setting in.
Anyhoo, I'm going to try to get some exercise this morning or tonight. Thing is I worked till close last night and it was a lot of bending over to wash the bins, sweep under and then a lot of strength to mop the floors (what?! a wet mop is heavy). So I'm tired, and I didn't sleep as long as I wanted because it was so hot in my room last night that I sweated like a pig.
I think working at my job is going to help me build some upper arm strength, I do a lot of lifting of product.

Maybe I'll go for a walk today, that may be less intense than what I planned on doing.

As far as food goes today, I'll have lunch when it comes around, a snack between then and supper and then I'll have supper. And that should be it.

So far today I've not done much. I woke up around 8:00 and drove into school to say goodbye to my friends for the summer. I didn't eat breakfast because I was in a hurry, but I'm in the middle of a salad for an early lunch/late breakfast.

And tacking on to yesterday's workout for me: I did 3 sets of 15 crunches/sit ups (I alternate between a crunch and a sit up).

Today is gravity resisitance workouts! YAY! The things I do for volleyball.

I'm going to be walking to my friends...
But that's probably the extent of my during the day exercise. We'll be going inside to play Super Smash Bros Brawl.
Because we're cool like that.

Breakfast was ok.
I ate more because I'll be playing on the Wii today so I didn't want a huge dinner.
So I'll eat lunch later, maybe a snack in the afternoon and a small dinner.

I can't find anyone to walk with me to the library so I guess I'll just ride with my mom.
I'll go and find some pilates or yoga tapes that I think we have and I'll be playing Wii for awhile today.
Mostly boxing, because that is a nice workout. My arms are so sore the next day. :faint:

I've been doing pretty well as far as eating goes, except for yesterday when I had a piece of apple pie. Darn it, it was sooo good. xD
And I've been drinking a lot of water.

I've also started on my Walk Away the Pounds videos. I did the 2 mile one both yesterday and today, so that's going pretty well.

I just hope I keep up with eating well, because that's where I'll have the most trouble.

I had a buttered roll for breakfast, w/orange juice and a multi-vitamin :thumbsup2

then for lunch, I had a salad with plain grilled chicken, and a little bit of cheese.

as a snack I had some grapes, pineapple, and apple, and some wheat thins.

I just worked out for a long time, I do 300 crunches and other ab and leg workouts everyday, its intense! :scared1: lol

As for ruining a diet because of sweets, well, ya know you can't deprive yourself of something you like. Portion control is key in high calorie/sugary foods. Just cut a square of pie, cake, chocolate, or whatever you want.
Some people also reserve a day in the week (or month) for their favorite treat that they don't normally have when dieting. A piece of something sweet once in a while won't make you mess up your diet in the long run and just a little will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth.
If you like chocolate, dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants like green tea. But eating just a small amount, of course.

I probably will today, walking and then work later (the mopping is exercise to me xD).

I'm gonna mow this morning, maybe it'll be cooler than it usually it.

I just did another 2 mile circuit. My volleyball workout asks for 10 min. running, 10 min. walking, and then another 10 min. running and that gets me to like...1.879miles, so I figure why not go the extra step and I finish out at 2.

It took me 31.47 minutes and my total distance was 2.003 miles. I burnt about 347 calories. And later on tonight, after a dinner of rotisserie chicken some sort of potato, I have 3 sets of 15 crunches/sit ups to do.

I feel so much better and today is only my second day doing this.

I've learned you can't keep me away from my chocolate. xD
But, I'm not worried about it anymore. My mom is gonna buy me dark chocolate from now on, since I like it.

Again, reading the WISH board. And they had a really cool idea. They set goals and when they reach them, they reward themselves. Some of them write down what they get when they lose so many pounds.
So now I'm just writing away everything I will buy myself once I lose so and so pounds.

Like when I lose 2 pounds, I get to buy myself this zune cover I have been wanting.
I've got things written down for every few pounds, until my ultimate goal, so I'll be motivated.
Because I want this stuff on my list. Lol.

Anyways, today was alright. Mowing was so tiring.
I was boxing on the Wii and it was killer on my arm, which is good.
So, I'll definately be boxing quite a bit from now on.
Along with some other more physical movement games on there.
Tomorrow I'm going to start using the workout bike my mom has.
And I'm gonna start doing sit ups, push ups, stretches, etc. in the morning when I wake up and in the evening.
We'll also be getting a Wii Fit if we can ever find one.

You should actually eat in small increments, not in 3 large meals a day. It should be a medium breakfast (like toast and cereal and milk) early in the morning, then a small snack around 10:30, then lunch (like a sandwich or a salad) at noon, then a snack again at 2:30, then a good dinner.

I have like....so much ambition today, but no energy. I don't know why.

On the bright side, my ankles don't hurt nearly as much as I feared they would after that run yesterday. Usually long, hard runs like that are really bad for my ankles/feet.

perfect body for me

Cute and little.
I'm short, so it'd be nice to not feel as chunky through my thighs and the top of my arms.

I'd actually prefer to be smaller in the chest. I can't find shirts that fit me because of it.

I'm probably going to exercise because I'm in a bad mood, and exercising releases endorphins right?

I want my stomach to be flatter too.

I can't raise my arms above my head after playing Mario and Sonic at the Olympics yesterday.
My arms still hurt, I'm still debating on wether I will play again today or not.

An hour in the morning and then during the evening.

Did my week 2 rotation of the volleyball workout today. Run 15 min, walk 5, run 10. Hit 1.906 miles in 30.03 minutes. I could have gone for that extra .1 mile, but I was beat. I ran a steady 4mph for all of the running and walked at 3 mph for the 5. My treadmill tells me I burnt just over 300 calories. After that I did 3 sets of 25 crunches.

I didn't eat breakfast (woke up too late) or lunch (I ran through that), but I did have a smoothie around 2 and a good dinner, then another smoothie, so I'll call it close to even for the day.

I'm feeling good today. The only thing I'm upset about is that my skin is so oily right now and I don't know why.

Sorry, I would, but I can't post pictures.
I kinda slipped Sunday and today, not horribly bad, but tomorrow I'm back on track and exercising again.
I just hate the feeling of being hot and sweaty which is mostly my problem with exercising. -_-
Usually because when I decide to exercise I had already taken a shower and fixed my hair and all. Tomorrow I might just stay in my pajamas all day because I'm not going anywhere.
That way I won't feel so bad about feeling gross since I'll take a shower later.

Still haven't had a soda, I'm doing good with that. :)

I'll definitely be joining this. I've always been overweight and I hate it. I'm so ready for a change. I'm not so worried about how much I weigh as I am about how I feel/look.

I gave soda up in January and I've been doing good to stay off of it. I have had a few sips since then, but that's about it. Well, I have had one soda while at an amusement park, but it made me sick, so I stopped drinking it.

A great tip if you get sick of just plain water - go to your local grocery store and get some crystal light packets. You just pour one into a bottle of water and instant flavor! They taste great and they're healthy. They have a variety of flavors and I'm sure you'll find one that you like. My favorite is the Iced Tea and Peach Tea.

I haven't done anything in the past week to benefit me.
I probably won't get any exercise until tomorrow at the earliest. I don't like to exercise on work days because I don't want to be completely exhausted.

the 4th killed me. Ugh. I was sooooo bad food wise. And I didn't run at all over the weekend because I had company and my cousin never leaves me along and I hate people watching/talking to me while I run- I need my music to take my mind off the fact that my leg starts hurting after about a mile.

Anyway. Today I did an easy 2.25 mile jog. 15 min running @ 4mph, 2.5 min walking @ 2mph, 2 min walking @ 3mph, .5 min walking @ 3.5mph, 15 min running. It's a 35 minute run total.

After I get off of here, it's going to be 4 sets of 15 crunches.

I am also trying to eat healthier.
I find that when I am hungry I eat junk food. I never eat apples or anything healthy.
I decided tomorrow I am going to start and eat healthier.
Three cookies a day, 1 soda that's it thats all.

I'm with you! I'm not overweight, or anything, though. :| I'm trying to cut down on the junkfood, and the computer. ( Which is why I haven't been on DIS for so long ) I've been drinking at least 2-3 bottle of water a day. In the morning after I walk my dog, I usually talk a jog, or ride my bike. I have also been spending a lot of time outdoors, and I have been trying to cut down on the junkfood. I've also bought vitamen water. My mom has a yoga book, so I've been do that also. I've lost about 2 pounds or more, I think, over this month and a half. ( Yes, that's only a little xD ) The junkfood part isn't working out. xD But I was trying to force myself away from it.

I have the exact same problem. If I want to go running I either have to go super early (around 7am) or late at night when the bugs are all out. I just stick with the treadmill in the summer. Right now it's about 5pm at my house and it's still in the 100's. Ugh.

I also have a pool in my backyard, so that makes things easy.

KitKat_Tink

pools are much easier!

I just did 30 laps (starting in one point going across and coming back to the same point counts as one) And then played in the water

for a total of an hour!

Which i went to a calorie counter and the amount i did means i burnt anywhere from 400 to 700 calories!! where as jogging doesn't even burn 300!

Swimming it is the rest of summer!!

I went for a 10 minute walk today.
Food wise, wasn't all that great, but it's alright.

I finally decided to do one of these yoga video things.
30 minutes in, and I decided to take a break.
It's actually very nice! I thought it was going to be horrible, but it's not.
Some of the things you are like swinging around though so you get cool air swishing around you. xD
Anyways, I don't know that's only 1 section of the 7, I'll finish this one up and then do another tomorrow.

35:08 minutes and 2.288 miles gone from my life.

I did my 30 laps in the pool. Tommorow i'll add 5 more.

And then i played in the pool with my brother and sister. We were like wrestling. It was intense.

Today i'm not sure i've eaten the best because swimming makes me sooooo hungry...

I had:
a handful of chips and salsa for breakfast (i was craving it i don't know why)
A half a quesidilla and another hand ful of chips and salsa for lunch(i'm in a mexican food mood)
a banana after my 30 laps
and saltine crakers and salami and cheese after the hour of play time
and a small chocolate star.

It seems like ALOT but i'm still hungry...:confused3

I'm going to my friends house tomorrow. It's actually unlikely I'm going to really hardcore swim, she has one of those round out of ground pools. There's like no length.

I only have my .. ski machine? Lol, it's just this thing that you push your legs back and forth with your arms..

One word:

D A N C E

It's a sport, seriously. (and to all you people who claim it isn't...grrrr!) A 2.5 hour recital? Totally wears you out. Especially the Company girls who have literally one number to change shoes, costume, and hairpiece. And then get back onstage and do a complicated piece of choreography. And they do this all night.

Between the running around on- and off-stage, it's very tiring. I'm used to it after 11 years (going into my 12 season) but it's still a LOT of work, bewteen class, dress rehersal, and recital.

And. It. Feels. Wonderful.

Dancing is the answer :-P

It relieves stress for me. I can go and just let myself...go.

I can hang out with people who are well...nice. I tend to find 2 or 3, maybe 4 or 5 people who I click with, and I hang with them. I can be myself and not worry about what the "Popular Girls" think.

Yeah, pretty much. The person who does it is great and time passes very quickly. I've heard a lot of people say they've had success using them, so I'm trying it out. They have different dvds for different lengths - 1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles & 4 miles (they probably go higher than that, but I'm not sure). There are also different moves you do while walking, but they aren't complicated. The dvd I bought has 5 work-outs on it (all walking, 1 & 2 miles at various paces), and it was $15 from Target.

I'm really not good at explaining it, but there are samples of the videos on Youtube to give you an idea about what you do. You can also try searching on google or something to find out more about it.

You're welcome. Glad it helped :D They're great for days that I don't really feel like doing anything (like running), so I just put one on and before I know it I've walked a mile (or two)! The one mile walk takes 18 minutes and the 2 mile walk takes 30. And as I said, time passes by VERY quickly. They're nicely done.

As far as the dvds go, for how much you get on one dvd they're very much worth the price (in my opinion). They didn't have a large selection at the Target I went to, but I went to Barnes & Noble the other day and they had a TON of Walk Away the Pounds dvds. I'll probably go back there once I have more money :rotfl:

I have a problem. I can't stick to anything I do and it really upsets me! I am 16 years old, I am 5ft7 and I weigh 170. THERE I SAID IT.:lmao: And the truth is that I don't want to be. During the last semester of my sophomore year I took an Individual Sports class that had me running up to two miles every other day, and I HAD to stick with it for my grade. Now that it is summer I have really just been lax about exercising. I think that the only way I stick with something is if I HAVE to or else I quit. I want to loose 20 pounds by our trip in Sept. I have a treadmill but I can never find the right time to do it. I am wanting to start running with my dog starting Monday for and hour I and I got to the pool for two hours three times a week. I have a problem with hunger control and portion control, I just like food I guess. Just wanted to join for the support, I will start reporting on my food and work out on Monday. Thanks,

Ally, How long have you been doing yoga?
And can you do like Bakasana and things like that?

Just wondering, I was looking on yogajournal and at poses, thought they cool, and wondered if you could do them.

Anyways, the video is Gaiam, Yoga for beginners.
I'm attached to it, and I'm gonna make sure I still do it when I go to school.
I'm gonna get another one in a couple weeks after I get used to this one.
The food lately, hasn't been so good, but today was much better.
I ate a little bit all day, and we're having dinner later.

Last night I was working at a concession stand and got some mountain dew, before I realized that's not what the person ordered.
So I picked it up and just drank a couple sips of it, before I noticed it was soda.
So I gave it to my friend and got some water. I would've been fine drinking it, but the water was much better.
I think in about a week or 2, it'll be two months since I've had a but a few sips of soda. I'm happy. (:

So I gave it to my friend and got some water. I would've been fine drinking it, but the water was much better.
I think in about a week or 2, it'll be two months since I've had a but a few sips of soda. I'm happy. (:

Oh, and Hilary, you said you were giving up soda too I believe.
I can't exactly remember, but how is that going?

It's going good I guess.
I'm not giving it up completely, but I'm limiting myself.
I've had my soda for the week, a bit too much I think.
So starting tomorrow, no more for a few more weeks.

That's good.

Blah, I need to start running, but I really don't like running out in my neighborhood and we don't have a treadmill.
I think I just need to start biking again.
I'm just doing yoga really and eating better.
I need to start doing pushups and stuff.

I wish i could say that...I had to have a few sodas to kill a migraine. Diet Coke is the only thing other then pills that knock me out that works...Today i was lazy. I woke up not feeling to hot so i just relaxed all day

That's awesome! :cool1:
I gave up soda back in January and I can honestly say I've only had a few sips since then. I've gotten soda in two places, but after a few sips I threw it away. It was the only thing to drink, I tried it, and the carbonation was just too much for me. It burned my throat/upset my stomach. So now I definitely don't have a problem not drinking soda. I'll have a sip or two if I'm in the car with my parents and they have a soda and I'm thirsty and it's the only thing to drink. For almost 7 months without soda, I'd say that it's pretty good!
So yeah. Going without soda it totally possible. After a while it just becomes second nature to get something else to drink.

I used to get horrible headaches when I tried quitting, so I gave up.
I'd go for about a week or two and I couldn't handle the headaches so I get back on it.
I tried quitting a couple times and eventually when I quit again back in June I guess my body got used to be not having it for long periods of time and I never got a headache again.

It's great you're only having a few though!
I hope your headaches go away.

That's almost the same as me, now when I try to drink soda it'll burn my mouth and I won't feel very good.
Usually I'll just have a few sips without even realizing I'm drinking it but when I do, I throw it away and find water.
Wow! Yeah that's really good! :goodvibes

But I feel a lot better than I used to.
I haven't been exercising much until this week so I'm hoping that'll help me lose some of this fat.

And you might be gaining muscle.

I've been doing yoga for about 4 years.
And yes, I can do bakasana!
I looooovveee it, it's really amazing and pretty easy once you learn it.
I can do scorpion too, but that took a while to do, just cause I was really nervous about falling on my face and like.. breaking my neck and stuff.

I never knew Gaiam had videos!
I have a few clothes from there though, and a yoga mat.

I've been eating deffiently not enough food.

Breakfast usually is consisting of half a bagel or half a piece of fruit and soymilk.
Lunch is either a granola bar or half a pb&j sandwhich
and dinner is well the same.

If any of you gets one, I wouldn't count too much on the BMI and weight.
The first time it was off 10 pounds on my weight and told me my fit age was 18, then I worked out with it for an hour and took the test again just for fun.
And it told me I gained 5.17 pounds, and my BMI went up 1 point and that my fit age was 31!?
xD

So yeah, but it's still a really good workout.
And it's fun.
I like the running.

I just finished my morning yoga and decided to take a break from my wii fit today. So far I only need 5 more pounds until I'm at my weight goal!
I think I hurt my ankle last week while running, so I'm laying off that for a bit.

If anybody wants some peaceful music definately get play and pause music. (I might have posted this already, I don't know.)

I still have about 10lbs until my ultimiate goal...

I lost the first 10 which was my goal by the new year. Another 10 is by next school year.

I want to be in the 130's...120's would be good too but 130 is more reachable and probably more healthy with my bone structure.

Lol. You're welcome.
I bought a couple at Target one day when they were on sale and fell in love with them.
I have the Yoga Glow one which is pretty nice.
I want the Yoga/Om, World/African Journey, and nature ones most of all.

I have the beethoven/love one, it's pretty cool.
The escape mexico and Hawaii are kinda funny. Karma looks cool. The espresso/Midnight Jazz one is almost the same song every track though.
I wish I could find some more, but I can't find them at Target, I might put some more on my Christmas list.

Ohh...Those are neat. I like the sound. I'll have to remember to get some of the songs off itunes.

If you go on www.live365.com and make an account you can search for yoga or meditation or stuff like that and it has a radio that plays music sort of like a mix between all these things. It's really cool.

I also like to listen to nature sounds sometimes. So I'll either listen to ecocasts or www.wildsanctuary.com and click on The Wild Store. They have soundscape albums and I think I'm getting distant thunder. I like to listen to the radio because they have a few tracks from each album to listen to.

Is it late to really join?

You might think I'm a little too young to want to lose weight, but my weight makes me feel very uncomfortable. Especially when all of my friends are toothpicks.

I have a full body problem. I use to swim, but I got sick of my coach, and made a stupid decision to quit. I really wish I didn't. But it's a little too late for that.

I'm REALLY now comfortable expressing these things to my parents. My mom and my sister just recently called me fat, and it really got to me. But I know I'm not fat. I'm just a little thick for my age.

My stomach, and my legs are the worst features on my body. My thighs are so huge, they rub together when I walk, and that makes it impossible to be comfortable in any type of swimsuit, boardshorts or not.
It's also EXTREMELY hard to find pants that fit me right! I can fit into a size one in juniors, but somes there so lose around my calves, but WAY to tight around my thighs, and I can't wear a three because me waist isn't that big, and they kinda fall down. And I've tried belts and stuff, but it just makes it look weird.

Also, my stomach. It's disgustingly huge. I suck in, alot. because I don't feel comfortable unless I do that. I have to wear two tanktops under my shirts so nobody notices. When I sit, I cross my arms around my stomach so nobody can notice it.

I want to lose 10 pounds by 2009. But I kinda figured that's not possible for me. My parents don't let me run around the neighborhood, but I figured, since my parents are lazy, I could wake up around five in the morning, run around the neighborhood a few times (it's really small.) and hopefully get back in about a half hour, take a shower, and just start getting ready for school by six. But if I get caught, I'm dead.

---

I LOVE healthy food! I love fruit, vegetables, milk, water, tea, whatever, you name it. But my mom always buys crap like chips, soda, ect. She WONT STOP. She recently lost ten pounds, so she thinks its alright to binge EVERY day.

Well, she's wrong. And I said to her just yesterday,

"If you keep eating all that crap, your gonna get huge."

She said,

"I just lost ten pounds!"

and then I said..

"Well, your gonna gain it back if you dont keep your mouth shut. You keep putting crap like this into it!"

Since thanksgiving, she made three pumpkin pies, and a HUGE cranberry desert.

She eats a piece of pie EVERY DAY, and three slices of the cranberry stuff.
And her portions are huge.

I keep asking my dad if we can go into the gym, he always says yes. But we never go.

---

Tomorrow is monday, and starting tomorrow: (since today is almost over..)

No junk.

NOTHING.
No chips, soda, chocolate, nasty fries, pizza, no nothing.

Honestly, I probably eat WAY more than 4000 calories a day.

According to this online thing, I'm only supposed to eat 1,672 calories every day.
So I'm gonna start eating less junk, and more healthy foods.
And maybe look on the back to make sure it doesn't have that many calories. -.- :)

I'm also saving to buy a Wii Fit because 'Santa' :p got us a Wii last year. :)

I lost 50 lbs about a year and a half ago, I weigh 155 now. Trust me you can easily lose 10 lbs. by 2009 if you want to bad enough. You really don't even need to run or do any cardio whatsoever if you diet right. Sure can help cut your body but I've learned that it's about 85% diet and 15% cardio. The important thing is not to starve yourself. If you go long periods without eating and starve yourself you will NOT lose weight. You will at first but all you're doing is permanently messing up your metabolism and as soon as you start eating normally again you'll put even more weight back on.

I'll suggest to you what I do......5 meals a day. You probably want to intake less calories than me since I'm a guy and I lift weights daily, in-taking my weight in grams of protein but it's the same general idea.

You basically want to be eating every three hours throughout the day, healthy meals for you I'd say in between 200-300 calories per meal. Of course during dinner you'll probably be eating more calories than any other meal, that's fine just take that into account. If your able to I'd suggest not eating anything after dinner, it makes a huge difference. If you have to eat something make that your 5th meal and I'd suggest fruit and/or yogurt. You can have some thing with carbs but just make sure you eat 2 hours before you go to bed, never eat right before bed.

sorry if that was too much lol basically eat healthy meals, 5 meals a day eating every 3 hours and you'll lose weight....if you want even more detail lemme know lol

Cassidy, I'm not going to tell you, you don't need to lose weight, because I don't know you and I used to hate when people told me that when I knew otherwise.

BUT, I think if you're a size one in juniors there is probably absolutely no problem with your weight whatsoever.
And how old are you? 12/13? I remember I had the hardest time finding jeans and I wore a size probably 16 at that time. I really think it's just a certain point in your life where you're body is growing and it's hard to find the right size clothes at all. I think you'll grow out of that. For them being too tight around your thighs, I have a feeling you go for skinny jeans maybe? All of my jeans are flare and are bigger near my calves, maybe if you do go for a 2 size (If they make those...) you might like that they are bigger around your calves?

I still have problems with it right now. I wear a size 6. But all the jeans that they have I like are sizes 5's and 7s. 7's are fine until you start moving around and they stretch out. Too big. 5's I can barely button but I'm afraid it'll rip. And no 6's. -_-

If you want to run, try running in place? Do you have a yard? Maybe run the outside of your yard a few times every morning.
As for your thighs I noticed yoga did me a whole lot of good for that and for my calves. Mine hardly rub together at all anymore.

This is the hardest part for me. While I'm trying to stay healthy and eat great and exercise, my family buys not so great stuff. And it's tempting, but you have to get past it. We have tons of pop, but after I just got water a few times, it was just natural for me to skip the soda in the fridge.

Binging is never good, but I've also tried talking to my mom, because instead of exercising she hardly eats anything during the day and then eats a meal with us for dinner. I try to tell her that she's not eating enough, but she doesn't listen. I'm still trying to figure out how to talk her out of it. Good Luck.

Maybe talk to your dad and set up a day of the week and time where you two can go. Keep reminding him, and tell him it's really important to you. Maybe you can make it a weekly activity, and if he doesn't take you, talk to him about it.

Good Luck! Wii fits are fun!

Also I hope everyone remembers if you have a hard day and or week, don't give up! It happened this week. No exercise, junk food all week and I feel terrible. But you can't give up, start over again and try hard!

I see that you need a size 6. Your not going to find a 6 in juniors if you want a 6 you'll have to go to womens which generaly are the same styles they just sit up higher on the hips...Try old navy jeans...

Okay,i never really expressed this before.

I really think i need to lose weight,
i weight about 160 pound.
I want to be about 120 by the summer.
i know that is like impossible, but i fell so uncomfortable wearing bathsuits.
i just want to be skinnier.

i try to eat healthy, like when i am hungary after school i eat carrots and dip.
the bad thing is that i don't eat my lunch alot.
i thought that would help but it really didn't.
i am eating cheesies right now which arn't helping.
like does anyone have any ideas of what i can do too help lose SOME weight.
i stay at school for lunch so i am kind of limited to certin lunches.
what kind of lunches could i have?
and i have a treadmill,i take dance class,and i am on a basketball team.
should i use my treadmill everyday?

I really just need help and someone to guied me,
because i tried this before and it lasted for like 2 days.

Thanks, I'll have to look there. :goodvibes

Alex, I don't think it's impossible. I think you can do it, if you put your mind to it. What I hear is it's most healthy to lose 2 pounds a week. 2x4 is 8 lbs a month and in 5 months that's 40lbs. Which would be near May. I'm sure since you do a lot of exercising you have muscle which does weigh more, so even if you don't make it that weight I'm sure you'll have muscle and look absolutely great.

Do you eat breakfast?

It's better to eat a bigger breakfast if you do eat 3-4 meals a day because it gives you time to work it off while after you eat a larger dinner you usually don't do much. (Although I'm guilty of always eating more at dinner)

Could you possibly take your lunch? Maybe make a sandwhich which an apple, or mix up a salad and put it in a rubbermaid container which some dressing that you like? Carrots and all. I love broccoli so I eat as much as I can of it. Maybe take yogurt, or fruit like strawberries and things.

Running on a treadmill is great exercise! Even walking for awhile is good, I'd definately reccomend it. I also notice if I exercise I don't feel as hungry and if I drink a lot of fluids it helps curb my hunger.

(Still encouraging all of you to join the month exercise goal on WISH. It makes you work harder if you have it written, I think!)
