Hi group! Am new to DIS board posting although have been lurking for a bit. I have been to WDW countless times over the years and as a FL annual pass holder we discovered Fort Wilderness about four years ago and just love it. Only place we stay! We've camped a handful of times in our TT and just this month tried out the cabins for the first time. We will be back for the 4th of July in a cabin (family of six) and then back at Thanksgiving in the Pioneer (TT...ressie previously secured yea!) We have some work to do to ready the camper as it's been two years since we've used it. Anyway, I would take any suggestions on planning for Thanksgiving at the Fort as it will be our first. Also, I guess it will be the first Fourth of July for us too. I imagine the fireworks will be great! Let us know if there is any other "special" events to see/attend over the Fourth! I guess a golf cart parade? By the way, I called and attempted to update our cabin accomodations for 7/4 with our AP discount but was unsuccessful. Should I try at check-in?
Lastly, I haven't reserved yet for spring break and we'll be coming for a week, first week of April, 2009. Unable to reserve online yet so I guess I'm forced to call, right? Should I be able to reserve at the AP rate? Will we be required to reserve for >seven nights or is that just a rumor?
Thanks and sorry it got so long.

PS. I've got a pict. of our family and TT although I am unskilled in posting yet so I'll try to get it in my signature later.

Welcome to the Dis camping forum!:wave2: I think most discounts are given out several months before arrival--so if you can't get one before, I doubt they'd give you one at check-in. 2009 rates aren't out yet--so they obviously can't give you a discount on those yet either. I'd call for 2009 ressies now instead of waiting till they become available online. I have not heard anything about a mim. 7 nights?:confused3 Sometimes in order to get the days you want its necessary to book a longer stay....then simply cancel any extra days. ( example: Disney reservations like to book longer stays---instead of 3 day weekends)

Thanks. About booking longer stay to get your timeframe: now that makes sense versus a min. stay requirement. I'm prepared to book a premium site if necessary (doubt preferred is available...seems to be my luck as far as always have to spend the most $ when reserving!) I'm not sure why I'm procrastinating in this although honestly I've been looking at adding 2008 stay dates still instead. Also, living in southwest FL, I'm waiting to see how this Hurricane season will play out! :goodvibes

Lived in Sarasota for 13 years before moving a bit south. We aren't that far from you in Zeph. My oldest is at USF in Tampa, even closer I guess. Last trip over to WDW took about three hours or so. It seemed like an eternity! :)

I'm in Polk City (Lakeland) by way of Sarasota & then Bradenton. We just keep getting closer and closer to FtW!!! If I win lotto, I'm gonna buy the 900 loop and just have an ongoing GG for all the Fort Fiends!!

Oh wouldn't that be great! A few years ago when we moved from Sarasota south we actually considered that it was putting us a bit farther from WDW but obviously it didn't deter us! It's still just a few hours driving time.
