I was thinking about all the great pictures of Animation Bldg that I saw in the old thread, in the first page of this thread, in some trip reports... I guess I'll have to find some time to visit Animation Bldg!! Never been to DL, I'll be there for just one day in July... But I should start thinking about the next trip! :rotfl2:

Don't forget your "magic eye". That is the main ingredient I seem to be missing and I can't find it anywhere to buy!! ;)

I really love your pics NostalgicDad and I get a lot of inspiration from them. Your night shots just drop my jaw!!

The D40 is certainly a sufficient camera. I know people with the D40x that are very satisfied and their pictures are great. However, I believe the D40x has been discontinued. It was a couple of hundred dollars more than the D40. The added features being 10mp vs. 6mp among a couple of other things. For the money you spend, the D40 is a very good camera indeed.

And, thanks for the comment! :thumbsup2

Thanks stacymomof2! Very nice of you to say those things. I think everyone has their own "magic eye" as everyone sees things just a little differently. And, you hit the nail on the head.......it's fun to look at DL through the eye's of everyone. There is so much detail that we all miss something here and there. I really enjoy showing folks how I see DL through the pictures I post on this board. And, I don't think it's hard to tell how much I love DL at night. ;)

Hi Danny,
I have the Nikon D40X and I have been thrilled with the results that I have had with minimal knowledge or effort. That being said, your night shots have inspired me to book a longer trip to DL, and to study up on night shooting, so that I can go to the park alone a few evenings and try some shots. Your shots are simply inspiring, and I have your alone in the park shot up mainstreet to the castle as my desktop. It makes going to work so much easier!

Well, I'm glad to be helping DL's bottom line! ;)

Thank you for sharing those very kind thoughts. I very much appreciate that. You know, that shot of an empty Main Street looking towards the castle is also my desktop background. Last week I got to thinking it was missing something. So, I took one of my recent fireworks shots and merged it using Photoshop. Although you can't tell, it's obviously a fake picture but looks REALLY cool. :cool2: I may post it at some point but I really only like to post authentic shots on this thread.

I'm glad to hear you plan on spending some time at night with the camera in the parks. If you're carrying a tripod, don't worry about people looking at you funny. Just act like you're on a mission! One point of advice......take your time. One note of caution......it's a lot of fun! :hyper:

Nostalgic Dad, was the shot of Main Street really late after closing? Or did you happen to be leaving at just the right time that there were no other guests?

And, if it is really late, how did you manage not being asked to leave while waiting for the crowds to thin out?

The park closed at 8pm that night. This was taken very close to 9:30pm. Ok, so how was I there at that time you might ask? Well, I was lucky enough to get dreamed with an After-Hours event that day. After they cleared the park between 8-8:30pm, they gave all of us who got the dream free reign of the park for an hour! It was fabulous being in an almost virtually empty DL. There was 1 person walking on the sidewalk but their image is blurred due to the long exposure. :cool2:

Well........Actually just me. This was a solo trip since I was in very close proximity to DL for business. It wasn't easy 'splainin' to the family what dear old dad had done. And, when I dropped the tidbit of getting dreamed.......well, let's just say that I owe them big time!

I'm breaking the rules today and posting more than one so that you can get the full effect...

After I took this shot while waiting for the Indiana Jones show to start:
http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/84/27/D0/i8427D009-12E6-4AD9-B8A9-FA8ED91ECBCF.jpg

My dad pointed out that it looked like there was something perched on top of the building:
http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/97/C4/7C/i97C47C17-5113-4A16-9A7C-A7688D6E0602.jpg

There sure was ~ it was a big dragonfly taking a break!! I don't think I've ever seen a dragonfly just hanging out like this!

Wow, that's a big dragonfly. And so well themed to be in Adventureland, his home must be in the Jungle Cruise area.

You mentioned the Indiana Jones Show...how was it? any photos?

We sould really make a "Where is this?" game out of this.....

Start a new thread and post a zoomed in or cropped picture like PryncessChrysty's picture:

http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/8B/CB/14/i8BCB14BD-4E8B-4580-BC86-9F08AF25EACA.jpg

Then let people try and guess where it is in the park.
If someone guesses correct you can then post the zoomed out or uncropped version:

http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/84/27/D0/i8427D009-12E6-4AD9-B8A9-FA8ED91ECBCF.jpg

Now wouldn't that be fun? :thumbsup2

The show was, um.........not great :confused3 It was good for kids (which we don't have right now), but not nearly as good as the show with Cap'n Jack on Pirate's Lair. I did take a few pictures of the show, but ended up deleting most of them. I have a few of the scenery, and this 1 shot of Indy:
