Canyon girl, I LOVE Asimo. I'm a Honda nut :P
My ds LOVES Asimo, too. He loves to watch the videos online. He even says he wants to be an engineer so that he can build Asimo.
eym, I've been loving your photoshop pics. Keep up the great work!
KCmike, I really like the queen shot. She sure is hard to get.

The one I posted earlier was taken with my D80 before I got the D300. I wish I could give it another go at a much higher ISO like you did with your D3 in this one. ISO 6400 at f/1.4 on that camera can do just about anything!

WoW! That completely freaked me out when I looked at that picture! My first thought was why can I see Star Tours and Astro Orbiter at the same time! Then I thought, that's not where Star Tours is! And finally, DUH! That's DL, Not WDW. I think I'm in for a lot of little shocks when I get there. :lmao:

Oh my goodness! It is so funny to me that you posted this picture, Danny! I must have had a sixth sense about it! This banner/sign was something that my friends and I noticed in 2007 and thought was a cute and silly take on the typical holiday greeting. It became a running joke throughout the Dec. 2007 trip. On this past Dec. 2008 trip, we seemed to walk all over the place but we either passed right by this sign or we didn't walk in that specific area where it was. Somehow we missed it. JUST LAST NIGHT, I was thinking, 'Oh, gee, it's too bad we missed seeing that Merry Critters... sign. I wonder how we overlooked it.' And I was thinking of e-mailing my friend with a Merry Critters and Happy Pooh Year greeting this morning. And then I come on here and see your picture!!! Wow! What great timing! You must have felt the vibes that some DIS'er out there was pondering over that Merry Critters sign and reached into your vast archives of magical, wonderful photos and - poof!! Pulled it out just like that!!! I am going to have to show my friend this picture, as I think she will get a hoot out of it!:goodvibes

By the way, just out of curiosity, did anyone happen to get any good pictures - especially nighttime shots - of the oversized Christmas ornaments and decorations in A Bug's Land in 2008? We saw them, and I had intended to go back and take some pictures at night, but there was not enough time to get back there. I wanted to see what all those giant Christmas bulbs looked like lit up at night. Not being able to get back over to A Bug's Land and also my camera dying in ToonTown while I was trying to take pictures of the Christmas stuff (the big tree, Mickey's tree and Minnie's tree, etc., etc.) are the two big annoyances of the December 2008 DLR trip! Grrrrrrrrrr.......

That's a beautiful pic eym! Love the colors.
Sherry: Don't worry about missing the Pooh sign, you're not going crazy. They didn't put it up this year. The first time I went into Critter Country & didn't see the sign, I was complaining about how easily it could've been put up. Maybe I should've done it myself. ;)

Oh goodness! I was thinking we just didn't hit the 'right' part of Critter Country to see the sign, or somehow had overlooked it when we walked through to get to the place with the candy apples!! I even asked my friend at one point, "Where is the Merry Critters and Happy Pooh Year sign?" And she kind of motioned off in the distance, "Oh, I think it is somewhere off that way." But thanks to your update, Disneylvrforever, now I realize it wasn't up and we wouldn't have seen it anyway!! You are right - it WOULD have been so easy for them to just hang it up again. It doesn't seem like it would interfere with anything or take too much work. It's that darn economy again - they couldn't hire enough help to hang the 'Happy Pooh Year' sign!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: (I am kidding, of course!)
I think we will have to sneak in there in late November and hang the sign ourselves, Disneylvrforever!!!:lmao:

Sounds good to me!
At the same time, maybe we can also have the little heffalump bees hang the garland again. Can you believe they weren't there this season?
If we dress up like Christmas trees, no one will ever know we were there.

That's true - since they pull out the 700 Christmas trees from the Disneyland warehouse down the street every November, if we just put on tree costumes, we will blend right in!:rotfl: The heffalump bees were gone too!?:scared1: It did seem to be kind of bare in that area in terms of really cute holiday decor, now that I think of it, but I guess I didn't realize what exactly was missing other than the Pooh Year sign, and I assumed I overlooked that. It seems like DLR decks out certain areas - like ToonTown and A Bug's Land get a good holiday treatment - but a cute area like Critter Country gets (sort of) ignored. Oh well, maybe in 2009 they will decorate CC again and ignore one of the other places instead!! I like ALL the lands in DL and DCA to have their own special holiday decorations. Like NOS has unique stuff that is specific to that theme, and ToonTown and ABL's decorations are unique to their themes.

Oh thank you so much, Disneygrl36!!! That is exactly the sort of thing I wanted to see! Something with the giant lights and ornaments! As it is, DCA is open for a limited time in the nighttime hours anyway, so there is only a brief window of opportunity to see what the ABL holiday stuff looks like lit up at night, and we just didn't make it over there in that brief window. I only saw the decorations in the daytime, and while they were cute, I had a feeling it would look even better at night! Thank you again!!!:goodvibes

Yep! We have traveled it often. I thought so! I just wanted to make sure I was in the right geographical area of DLR, and that I didn't say, "That's at the GCH," and you say, "NO! It's actually in ToonTown, you fool!":rotfl: The whole GCH property including the restaurants and surrounding paths has that very distinctive art and design, so I would have been shocked if had been any other location!!

Ooooh! Tell me about it! The two times I have stayed at GCH, honestly, I am not sure how I pulled it off! I know I shouldn't have. Talk about a wallet saying "NO!!!" My wallet was physically restraining me from entering the GCH lobby!:rotfl: I truly do like all 3 DLR hotels for different reasons at different times of year, and I like how they can all be enjoyed by everyone even if you are not a guest there. So it may be a loooooong time before my wallet allows me back as a guest at GCH, but we will always travel that DTD path to GCH and go through the lobby for some reason or other, just to get a taste of it!!

A lower shutter speed would have been nice but this was the best I could do. The second time I went to see Believe I had an awesome spot picked out right beside a light pole and could've used my gorillapod but "due to high winds"...you get the idea. I hope no one minds me posting this here as it's part photography and part graphic design.
I took what turned out to be not-such-a-great photo from the Christmas Parade, so I decided to have some fun playing with it in PhotoShop. I ended up creating something I really like and would love to share it with everyone. Hope you like it, too.
The only thing I 'shop'd was the gray scaling, not the actual imagery in the photo, and of course I added the border and dreamed up the caption.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i181/disneydreams/freedom.jpg
If you have a better caption, I would love to hear it!

Wow, the clarity and the depth of this picture is so amazing! The juxtaposition of the blue sky against the mountain is fantastic. Is that shot from 2008 or some other year? I ask because I don't recall seeing that snowman in December, but then again, whenever I went near the IASW Holiday building at night, there were tons of people around so it would have been easy to miss something. Anyway, that's really cool! It's a new spin on a shot/location that is already beautiful and picturesque anyway!:thumbsup2

It's kind of hard to explain, but there is a little nook if you are walking from Nemo and just stay all the way to your right as you go under the Monorail track and running into the railing where part of Autopia runs. I'm pretty sure I didn't explain that very well.

Glad you liked my photo. Like I happen to mention in my trip report thread, I think the BTMRR pic with the moss hanging down is one of my favorites from the whole trip. What really ticks me off though was it could have been even better! One of the days that the sky was filled with smoke I sat down on the bench where I shot that picture and the sun was glowing red. It was the most beautiful image but I didn't have my camera, any memory card or something. So I got this shot when I went back to try to recreate it but it is nothing compared to what it could have looked like.

We went on IASW and was there when the park officially closed and did not get on the way out of the park until about 30 minutes after closing and I took a quick snap of the tea cups then. The security is VERY nice about herding people outside. I think the next time you make it over here you should walk around close to park closing. Its so magical at night time !

It looks like what you're doing is clicking the link instead of the picture button (its the yellow square with a mountain and moon). Once you click that you can input the link on that window and click okay. That should do it !

Honestly, I used to click on the yellow box to insert images, but I don't have to now. Now, when I am in Photobucket, what I do is just click on the IMG code under the photo (the very last code out of like 3 or 4 of them), copy it (the full code - don't delete any part of it) and paste it right into the text of my post. I don't even use the mountain/sun box icon anymore (bypass it totally), but it seems to work differently for different people!

Great vantage point, being able to get those three DL icons in the same photo. You probably had to make sure you were standing in exactly the right spot to fit them all in. That has to be very precise. It's not like an accidental shot, just walking along and randomly snapping a photo quickly. You have to actually try to frame that very specifically, I assume.

Great vantage point, being able to get those three DL icons in the same photo. You probably had to make sure you were standing in exactly the right spot to fit them all in. That has to be very precise. It's not like an accidental shot, just walking along and randomly snapping a photo quickly. You have to actually try frame that very specifically, I assume.
Thank you! I saw Danny post a picture JUST LIKE THIS, and I wanted to try for myself. It was funny when I was taking this picture because I was walking backwards with my tripod on Main Street and I bet people thought I was crazy when they were looking at me ;)

Thank you :) Its my cousin's favorite (TheAXIOM). The CMs were not bothering me at all on Main Street. On that same night, they were politely guiding us from Adventureland and New Orleans Square to Main Street. They were very nice about it !

Well, if anyone DID think you were crazy for walking backwards on Main Street then they don't understand what it takes to get great picture! That's why so many professional photographers have to get up in the middle of the night, or can only shoot models when the light is just right outside, or have to climb up rocks so they get exactly the right vantage point, wait for an ocean wave to roll in that's a little higher than the last one - all for the sake of getting a perfect picture!
I am still trying to figure out how to draw my name onto my pictures (Jasmine, don't know if you saw but I posted more Bret stuff on my TR thread last week, and someone from DIS suggested that I 'protect' those pictures in some sort of way, which I may do). I have to rely on Photobucket for my photo editing at the moment, and I know how to use the draw feature to scribble on my initials or my name, but the lines are so jagged they look like they were scribbled by a 3-year-old!! I don't know if there is a way to smooth them out on Photobucket or if I just have to deal with pre-school penmanship!! Or maybe it is just my shaky hand!!

You know, I'm fortunate enough to have parents who buy everything I need for graphic design. I have a graphics tablet (which works like a mouse, except you use a pen). I used it in Adobe Illustrator and drew my name out. It smooths out the strokes on the program!

I don't sign any of my pictures because, well, I guess I just don't see the need to do so. I share them for people to enjoy. If someone likes it enough to save it, what a compliment! However, I know it has become the thing to do as it is showing up in a lot of places now. And yes, they are artwork, so I get that part.
If you want to create a signature without PhotoShop, I have two suggestions:
1. Sign your name on a piece of white paper with a black medium-thick felt-tip Sharpie. Scan it. Crop. Voila!
2. Sign your name on a piece of white paper with a black medium-thick felt-tip Sharpie. Place it on a low height table. Take a digital photo of it using a flash. Upload it. Crop. Voila!

Yeah, it's not a really big deal to me to go all out to protect pictures - or I just wouldn't post any photos at all anywhere, if I were that concerned about it. I don't have super-nifty pictures like Jasmine's and Danny's, etc. do, so it's not too big of an issue. But it got me thinking the other day, when someone made the suggestion to me, how in the heck can I get the signature on this photo (If I ever want to) without looking like a 3-year-old signed it? I could do the crop methods you explained, and somehow try to overlay them onto the photo! I will try experimenting with that later! Thanks for the suggestion, Disney Dreams!:goodvibes

Once you get it scanned in, you will need to remove the white background. Without some form of photo editing software, that's the tricky part. If you can get that far - let me know. I can tweak it for you a bit in PhotoShop if you want.

Here is one of my favorite shots that I took from my April 13th, 2008 trip. The temp was 105 degrees during the daytime. My next trip will be May 10th, 2009 as I fly from my hometown of Worcester, Ma to Los Angeles in May for a special Mothers day.
The special occasion is that it will be the first Mothers Day where my mom has all of her three sons together since We were very little. That is over 30 years.

Thanks, Danny! Only trouble is - I don't have Photoshop!!!:rotfl: And I wouldn't dare try loading it on to my current decrepit computer or it would crash the whole thing. But when I finally get a new computer, I want to get Photoshop because I do enjoy playing around with pictures and editing them quite a bit (not that mine would ever look as good as yours, Jasmine's, Eym's, etc., etc.). So if I can't find this tutorial link that you posted when I get a new PC and get Photoshop loaded on, then I may return here and ask for it again!! But thanks again!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes Anything that has worked for you and your photographic endeavors has GOT to be priceless!

They say "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" in the background of that song. They have a couple Disney song lyrics in it. I know they also sing "Some day I'll be, part of your world.." and "Tale as old as time..". They sing all that right after the part KCMike mentioned.. I think it's just in the POD music, not the Phil Collins version...

I just wanted to go back to where everyone was talking about signing or copywriting their photos.
I would love to see more of this done. Not so much because I worry about your photos being "stolen" more because if I see a great photo, and I'm dieing to have it as my back ground, chances are I'll save it, and use it. however - as is the problem now - I've forgotten who took my back ground photo, and it's going to take a lot of looking through these pages to find out... :rotfl: I like to know who did it, so when I see another great photo, I can look at it and think "that's who took that other great photo!"
Ok, back to your regularly scheduled photos...

Thanks, Robert. The ones I've posted lately were taken during a couple of 1 day trips I had in early '08. One was a business trip in which I went solo for a day and the other day was just me and my wife. We were actually celebrating our anniversary in Vegas and decided to make the 4+ hour drive to DL on one of those days.

Great shot Mayra! How'd you like DL compared to WDW?

We loved DLR especially DL! DS was a little surprised by the size compared to WDW, but we were more relaxed in DLR
We liked Pirates, Autopia, Fantasmic and Innoventions better in DL
and Indiana Jones and Pirates Liar were his favorites, and Toy Story Midway Mania in DCA
Low Light, a moving Train and just a ponit and shoot... But you get the idea.... I love this part of the Train Ride.

Lol that picture gives me memories of my boyfriends hurt ankle. Last time we were at DLR he hurt his ankle and we took the train everywhere I must have seen the grand canyon only a 30 or so times :joker:
