Since it's been so long, can I be indulgent with another?

The carver had just finished his first wheel and then took a break... I have some shots of her other amazing pumpkins, if anyone wants to see more.

Pictures from F! water/lighting effects don't typically look that great since they seem out of focus. I have tons of them but none of them really jump out at me. I thought I'd share one anyway just so I could say I've posted one. ;)
NostalgicDad, that's one of the best water projection photos that I've ever seen, I thought I had some good shots of the water projections, but I don't have anything as clear as yours. Fantastic job!!!
I decided to focus on pumpkins last weekend....YellowMickeyPonchos, those are great pumpkin photos!!! I can't believe they did a Wall-E pumpkin. I LOVE it!
Armadillo4,
That was a great Indiana Jones shot! I didn't see any action this summer and that's actually the first photo evidence I've ever seen of the summer of Indiana Jones stuff. THanks! You're too kind travelmel. Thank you! Here's a closeup shot of Indy from the Secret of Stone Tiger show. He's just emerged from the mouth of the Tiger with the help of an archaeologist and her "assistants" from the audience.

The reason the images are not clear is that the projection isn't clear....it is a screen made of water
Thanks for posting that photo. I don't have a photo of that part of the show and any photo helps me remember the fun.
Photos don't have to be perfect to give me a memory blast of the feeling I had when viewing the show.
Like this one... This scene sends shivers down my back when I remember seeing it "live".

Cool picture! Just as a side note, I was looking at your pictures you posted on your website, and to my surprise, I saw my DW in one! It's a picture of the crowd standing in line for MM. What a small world. Or I should say "It's a Small World". That would be more appropriate for the DIS boards.

Thanks. I had read a thread the other day where someone was asking if all of the pumpkins that were decorating Main Street were real. Of course we all know they couldn't be, since a carved pumpkin only lasts for 2 days (at best) in this climate before it turns into a gooey rotten mess. Let me tell you, when I went down Main Street, OMG - I had to really look twice! They did such a phenomenal job and those pumpkins were of such high quality that they really did look real! Here are a couple photos to prove it!

I also wanted to post, that somewhere I had read that the real carved pumpkins, have diluted white glue over them to make them last longer. Has anyone else ever heard of that?

I hadn't heard that, but there are several of the same carved pumpkins in the Woody's Halloween Roundup (Big Thunder Ranch) area that are right there for you to touch. They aren't real. They are just a much higher grade of carvable pumpkin (kind of like what you get at Michaels) that are hollow with consistent wall thickness.
I touched. I had to!

There are real carved pumpkins @ Woody's Halloween Roundup. Are you sure you touched the right ones? There was one of the Queen of Hearts that they carved on Monday. I went on Thursday and since it had been a couple of days, bugs started to hang around it. So there are real pumpkins, you just have to find the right ones.

I know about those - I posted the Wall-E a couple pages back. I even have another one today. The thread that asked if the pumpkins were real referred to all of the ones on Main Street and some of the ones around the Round-Up stage. They do look more real than your average "fake pumpkin". The technology to mold those things has gotten way better. Those even have "growth dents" like real pumpkins.
Today's photo is one of the cooler real pumpkins from the carver. She does a lot of her carving by cutting into the flesh and not exposing the main cavity. Slows the rot down and allows the flesh to dry out. Not exposing them to candle heat, helps too.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3188/2926880517_bc84794aaa.jpg
Looking at this photo and seeing this up close, not sure how they kept the squash feet so "fresh" looking. They didn't look like they had a coat of anything on them. You can touch these as well. I would think the glue would add somewhat of a shelac feel. I'll have to ask when we are down there next weekend.

My husband moved out here before we started dating. He's a promo editor for televison. Currently works for TLC, doing spots to let you know what is coming the next week for their main shows. He also does the montage type stuff, like the "Night of Home Improvement shows" one that is on air now - with the little boxes of show clips flying around the screen to touchy-feely music.
The cost of living issue is more based on housing and some food pricing and such, but a lot of it is still the same. Biggest thing is the change in environment and lifestyle. That's why so many Midwesterners have a hard time and have to go back. They just can't hack the cultural diversity, the amazing mass of people crammed in together, and the hectic pace. Cost of living is a small thing compared to that! My BIL tried to move his family out here and his wife visited and freaked out. As a result, they still live in KC.
I like it here - we tell each other that the kids would shoot us if they didn't have the ability to wake up on a Sunday morning and hear us say "Let's go to Mickey Mouse today!"

Nice HM shot Jazz! Love the bonus of the moon shining right over it! Is it me, or does the HM seem a bit sparse on decoration this year? It didn't seem like there was as many pumpkins as in years past. Or is the sleigh missing????

Yes, This Picture is from the Fantasmic show.
The Character is from the Movie "Fantasia"...
He is the Demon Chenabog who, using the power of darkness, summons restless souls (skeletons, dragons, ghosts, etc) from their graves. Quite scary really...I'm glad it's in Mickey's dream and not mine.

I saw the moon out and was like "ooo, I SOO need a shot of HM with the moon in the sky." As for HM, this is the second time seeing the overlay and I can't really compare TOO much. I think it was a little bare outside. My cousin TheAXIOM said that the pumpkins up on that viny hill stretched all the way across it starting from where the wall starts. It was completely enjoyable inside though !

I agree, I felt like it was a little less decorated on the outside. I felt like there was more pumpkins on the hill by the side hill last year. Also, I noticed that during our trip there were a few candles and pumpkins on the roof that weren't lit up... Boo :(.

Not only a nice shot, but I was looking at it, sort of getting a 3D effect from it at certain angles. I am sure that was unintentional, but a cool effect nonetheless. Maybe it's just my crazy glasses!

Yes It in the queue when you enter the lobby in front of the checkin desk. I also found that if you go into the line on the right(the one that goes downstairs in the boiler room) there is the same newspaper on the work bech right before you get lined up to enter ther service elevator. The rest of the article is in the right column. I have a theory of why they would have picked that particular issue. The murderess' name was Winnie Ruth Judd. :teacher: "Winnie":teacher:

Winnie the Pooh? I knew a girl in high school and her name was Winnie, funny!
So I guess according to an article in google the newspaper article is supposed to be the same night (in 1939) that the people from the TOT story "disappeared". How crazy! I would have flipped if I saw that and I was you!! Thanks for sharing!!! :thumbsup2 I'm going to look for them next time!!!

No, they're big rubber gooshy eyes! The kind that has liquid that moves around in them. They had them at Disneyland last year (that's where the photo was taken). You could buy a skull and fill it with creepy stuff. I just bought a bunch of the eye balls and put them in a dish on my coffee table for Halloween!

Joe this is a really nice shot! Did you do any noise reduction or post processing on it? I assume you used the 30mm 1.4lens? Nice one!
How do you like your D300 and your 30mm? Did you have to get the lens recalibrated, or did it work straight out of the box? I'm thinking of getting one for more creative ability...

Thanks, DisneySuiteFreak! Yes, Sigma 30mm f/1.4. I LOVE that lens.
Not a lot of post processing on this shot, well that is compared to all my other pictures. I'm always willing to admit that I do spend around 1/2 hour to an hour on every picture I post. It's fun for me to get the most that I can out of each picture, kind of a hobby of mine. This picture definitely received some help from NoiseNinja, as do almost all my pictures. NoiseNinja is my best friend. ISO was 3200 and it was underexposed (still is, technically) so I had to up the levels PP which, as you know, ups the noise as well. Especially color noise, it was horrific before NoiseNinja got a hold of it.
No lens calibration, I'm not that technical. Seems to focus right to me.
Good luck, and I hope this helps!
