I do try to keep track of it but it's basically a confusing little system I keep in my head and is based on my previous trip dates, time of year, etc.
As far as posting the EXIF, I'm happy to provide it to anyone who wants to know. But, since smugmug strips it from the jpegs resized from the originals, it's a few extra clicks to copy/paste I normally don't take. If I post a shot that is abnormal in the camera settings, I'll try to include the EXIF.
At least you have a system. :) I was just kidding in my post above. I know smugmug strips the EXIF 'cause I started using it recently too. It's a good photo hosting site though but losing the EXIF in the resized JPEGs is a PITR. :goodvibes

I'm sure the staff at DL is thrilled that there's a picture out there of one of their employees urinating on Main Street! :lmao: That is PRICELESS!!!! Give the poor horse a break...they have to go potty, too! :rotfl2: If only we could be so lucky to just be able to urinate while we're walking down the street. :rotfl: On second thought....:scared:
:laughing:I thought it was pretty funny and ironic at the same time...

Does anybody ever have any issues with your dslr and getting into DL? I know it says you can't bring in professional cameras. Just wondering how strict they are? Nostalgic have you ever had any issues with your Nikon and/or tripod?

Paradise Bay is Drained and under construction for the new "World of Color" water and light show which will open the Summer of 2010. But there is a lot more being done (in progress) and planned through 2012.

The "Blue Sky Cellar", near the Golden Vine Winery, has maps, plans and a short film of the changes happening to the park... including a new "Cars Land" with a new "E ticket" Cars ride. Cars Land look to me as it it replace the Timon Car Park which is behind A Bugs Land. This will make California Adventure quite a bit bigger.
They are redoing the enrty area... to look like the 1920's when Walt first arrived in LA. The front ticket gate looks like the "Hollywood Studio" ticket gate in WDW Florida.

Thanks for your kind comments. I get excited seeing what will be happening there. I hope everyone doesn't mind me posting more than one photo.
The Orange Stinger (which is such an icon of the park) will loose it's peel and have a Mickey Silly Symphony facelift. (They are planning a Goofy facelift for the Mulholland Madness.)

The new entrance to the park will be called "Buena Vista Street", This will reflect the 1920's Los Angeles as Walt Disney Experianced it.

No it wasn't a tour. I was leaving the park when the afternoon parade was going on. It was so crowded they were ushering people down the alley behind Main Street to get out of the park. I've only got to do this once before. There's not much to look at back there...some lockers, water meters, dumpsters, extra Jungle cruise boats and what not. It was still pretty cool though!

We got to go up into Walt's apartment with our Backstage Magic Adventures by Disney but we weren't allowed any cameras, so you picture gave me a nice memory of being back there getting ready to climb up those steps.

Oh my gosh!!! That would be my dream come true to get to go into Walt's apartment!!! You're so lucky! I was wondering as I was snapping photos if one of the cast members would tell me to put my camera away, but they didn't.

The "Red Car Trolly" will be running from the Entrance of California Adventure and down through Hollywood Blvd. to Near the Hollywood Tower Hotel (Tower of Terror) These Red Cars will be like the old Pacific Electric Red Cars that once traveled through Los Angles County.

Cars Land is a whole new land to be in finished in 2012.
There seems to be 3 main rides... Mater's Junkyard Jamboree.... Luigi's Flying Tires... and ... the "E" ticket ride "Radiator Springs Racers" which will have cars that travel five times faster than Autopia cars.

What is an E ticket ride??? Cool Pics everyone, it makes me want to go back and we just got home 2 weeks ago.:lmao:
When Disneyland first opened you paid for admission and a book of tickets. There were A tickets, B tickets, etc. Each attraction was given a rating (A thru E) and you used the corresponding ticket to go on the ride. E tickets were the premier rides (today they would be Splash Mtn., Space Mtn., California Screamin', etc.) When you were out of E tickets you were out of chances to ride those rides - although presumably you could buy more ticket books. I don't know when Disney stopped using the tickets - I know they were still in use during my first trip in about 1973. Anyway, the premier rides are still sometimes referred to as E-ticket rides - rides that would have taken an E ticket if they were still being used.

My thoughts went exactly to Test Track in WDW then faded away when I thought of the speeds of Autopia.
I saw all the coming attractions at "Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar". This building was "The Vineyard Room at the Golden Vine Winery" and looks like it will return to that some day. See the temporary signage in the first photo below.

Here they show a very informative 6 minute film which inspires the imagination about the future of the park then there is a 30 second break before the film runs again. Lots of Displays, Drawings, Information, etc... Definitely worth the visit.

I have to say I thought the same as you two. Then I wondered why they would basically waste the space, money and time on building another glorified Autopia. Isn't one enough? :confused3
I wish they were building Test Track.:wizard: :idea:Maybe they have plans to do away with Autopia? Those cars are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slooooooooooooooooooooowwwwww. And the queue is even slower! zzzzzzzzzz ;)

Hey Robert TG....how much actual disney music is played in the parade? Do they incorporate Walt's voice into the parade like parade of dreams? Did you like it? Now on with the Picture of the Day...
Did I like it? I loved it!!!
No, Walt's voice is not in this parade.
There is some origional music for this parade.
It starts with the Celebrate song with is catchy and new.
Then there is some short selections of songs.
Swing Music: "Jump and Jive" and "Jungle Book" music.
The next section is Rock and Roll: With "I love rock & roll" and "Twist again". On to Latin music: "Do you really want it", "Conga"
Party music: "You can't stop the beat"
and finishes with "Celebrate you". All within 15 minutes.
Then starts again.
There are 3 major floats, each with 8 Characters, who Dance along with the 24 dancers and about a dozen colorful stilt walkers and huge tricycles that circulate the characters around near the end of the show.
So, if you would like to see your favorite character, swing dance or do the twist or join them in the conga line, this is your chance.
The Characters dancing in the show are...
(just imagine them dancing)
Mickey and Minnie
Chip and Dale
Lilo and Stitch
Mary Poppins and Bert
Tigger and Pooh
Woody and Jess
Alice and the Mad Hatter
Donald and Daisy
Pluto and Clarice (The Female Chipmunk)
Goofy and Claribelle
Wendy and Peter Pan
Pinocchio and Geppetto
The guide Map shows where the dance party stops, and it is best to be in the area if you want to see the show...otherwise it passes very quickly.
Out the front of the Bakery on Main Street is a good location.
This parade starts either in Main Street going toward It's a small world or starts near It's a small world heading toward Main Street.... and it's important to know which way it is going otherwise you could have an extra half hour wait before it arrives at your location.
OK, Here is a picture of Alice doing the Twist

When I went for my birthday on March 31st, I saw it for the first time and was really excited about the new parade! And also about the confetti that was shaped like mickey heads all over the place.
I especially liked the music and dancing. :cheer2:

It is the Jumpin Jellyfish. The latest D23 stuff shows the Jumpin Jellyfish still intact but the SS Rustworthy gone and in its place a patio area for a large restaurant. It is in the way for expansion of the restaurant on the west side where McDonald's was located. It may stay as it can be rethemed and is a kid friendly ride.

Robert TG and PetitePixy - This sounds similar to how the Block Party Bash is...do you or anyone else happen to know if the parade in Magic Kingdom is the same? I thought it was still the same old parade, but with different decorations??? :confused3

Yea, the parade is pretty sweet. Short and sweet!
When I went for my birthday on March 31st, I saw it for the first time and was really excited about the new parade! And also about the confetti that was shaped like mickey heads all over the place.
I especially liked the music and dancing. :cheer2:
Here is some more Mickey confetti for you to enjoy :goodvibes

Thanks TahoeMom. I should have figured that out since I just bought some old Disneyland booklets on ebay to hang in our rec room (someday when we build). I just saw it posted about the soon to be coming Cars land and the new rides and wasn't sure what it meant. I hope the ride is good.

I'm posting 3 pictures today, because it is a mystery to me as to WHAT is being built. Is there anyone who has a clue to what sort of construction this is. The large black platform is not solid, but looks like a grid pattern. Perhaps its made of some form of plastic. I'm wondering if this is to let the water flow thru ... or if it is just a frame for a concrete pore. I also don't understand what the Black and Blue Boxes are about, that are attached to the bottom of the frame. All of this will be below water and I wonder if divers will swim underneath to access whatever they are doing ... or if this will be bone dry underneath with easy acess to all the workings and only a shallow layer of water above.
Can anyone shed any light upon what looks to me like some unusual construction?

the blue and black plastic boxes look like float boxes, the put them under boat docks when they build them so they'll float. That's my guess...

Fromthis article: http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/index.php/disney%E2%80%99s-wor-957/ Unlike Fantasmic, World of Color will feature no boats, performers or — most important — fireworks (lest visitors recall the ill-fated LuminAria water show whose smoke and ash choked and irritated the eyes of viewers along the shores of Paradise Pier in 2001).
I'm not quite sure I understand how bad the smoke was in 2001.:confused3 How could it be so bad? Illuminations at Epcot is on the water in the middle of the park and it wasn't like that at all. I never smelled smoke, even though you could see it. I do realize that Epcot is a lot bigger, but if the fireworks went off high in the air like the castle fireworks then wouldn't it simply dissipate or blow away w/ little to no impact? ...Have any of you ever seen the Luminaria show? Just curious... I was kind of hoping the new show would be like Illuminations...

Your work is so remarkable, Danny - I can always tell the photos that you have taken even before I see your name on the left hand side of the pic.; you capture the entire essence of Disneyland, etc., through the camera lens. I don't know how you do it! Another awesome shot, thanks for sharing!! :) I feel like I am right there in the moment, as I view the shot, and feel that I am seeing/sensing/feeling the same things that you did at the time. Amazing work!
Can I ask you something? How come when I take a photo sometimes, I look at it once taken, and am surprised that it didn't capture what our kids actually look like, etc.? Is it because we are working with people in the shots, OR is it because we need to focus on setting the right settings to capture the depth/dimensions, etc.? I have sometimes had to take numerous pics. to know that I caught the essence of a shot... for you, it seems to come naturally to you. A true gift, for sure. And, I imagine, a lot of hands on work as well.

As far as getting those shots you speak of......your last sentence kind of sums it up. Shoot and shoot some more! But, on the technical side, it can sometimes have to do with your settings with regards to making the subject "pop". People are not easy to get shots of but kids in particular are much harder as well. In a lot of situations, a larger aperture (smaller number) can mean the difference. That will allow some blurring of the background which will make the subject stand out. Another thing is just to have some patience when looking through the viewfinder. What their movements and sort of get in motion with them. I'm not sure if that made sense but might help a bit. Thanks again for the super nice comments! :)
