Will 17 days be enough??? My PTR! Lots of PICS!!*Updated 08/05-I'M BACK!!*

Yahoo! I can finally start a PTR now and since I have been planning this trip since we returned from our trip last April, I have it pretty much finished. Although, as well all know things get changed & shifted..so we will have to wait & see!! So, for the first part of the report I'll introduce the cast!:cool1:

Firstly, there's me, Jen! I just love everything disney, from movies to the parks to the music...EVERYTHING!!!I talk about disney world all the time :cool1: I am a substitute teacher, who was lucky enough to land a long term substitute position from March until the end of the year! This is my third year of subbing and am hoping for a term next year. Interviews are next week, so wish me luck:worship: Ok back to disney... I was never one of those lucky children that was able to go to disney as a child. Although, I can always remember wishing and praying and entering every contest to win a magical trip to visit Mickey!!:wizard: BUT, no such luck :sad2: I would have to keep dreaming....

The next wonderful person that will be joining the cast is my husband Matt. He's a lawyer with legal aid and gets 3 weeks of paid vacation a year, so he is pretty flexible when it comes to dates to pick for visiting. He was one of those lucky people that was able to visit disney as a child, with both of his parents being teachers, they went every year when he was growing up!!!:eek: :yay: He enjoys disney just as much as I do!!

Our History

Also joining us on our vacation will be my Inlaws (Matt's parents) Gail & F.X., both retired teachers. Although, they will not be going to disney with us...crazy, I know!!:rotfl2: They must be :sick: I do not understand how someone could be in Orlando and NOT go to disney!!! That is just silly!!

Matt & I met at university, he was in his 4th year and I was in my 1st. We met in January 2001 and have been together ever since :love: We went through school together, and when he got into law school I transfered so we could still be together! We were married on May 7th, 2005 and it was the best day of my life!!!

It was even better when his parents told us months before our wedding that they would pay for our honeymoon or give us money and before Matt finished saying honeymoon, I was jumping (literally...yes I starting jumping!!) on the bed, screaming.."I am going to DISNEY WORLD!!!!!":dance3: I was so excited..so the countdown began and on May 8th, 2005, I was finally able to say that I have been to WALT DISNEY WORLD!!! We went for a week and the crowds weren't too bad and I was able to see a lot!

Our next trip wouldn't be for another 2 years :( April 2007...we got a really good deal on tickets, hotel, car and flight and decided last minute that we would go for Easter! It was a lot of fun, but very busy! The trip was also only for a week, and I wasn't able to see/do everything that I wanted this time :(

NOW...onto this trip!! We decided this year that we would go for 17 days!! Yes, over 2 wonderful weeks full of disney. We are staying offsite :( but we couldn't pass up the good deal for a 3 bedroom townhouse ($1300)!! We already booked our airline tickets, [B]July 17-August 2nd we will be there!

We will be getting 10 day PH WP&More tickets.

Okay so where'd I leave off....right...

How the trip came to be

You already know that my 1st WDW trip was in 2005 for our honeymoon. We had a blast, and DH has always loved it there and well...I bet everyone can imangine how a disney crazy person would react...let's just put it this way that I cried (in a good way) when I reached WDW. So anyways, we didn't go in 2006...I really don't know why...probably the whole money thing...:confused3 :rotfl2:
So fastfoward to 2007, DH came across this awesome deal for air, hotel & car for $1300 for 2...whole trip about $2000....we grabbed that!! As soon as that trip was over, I told DH that "There is NO NO NO way I am waiting 2 years to go back, we are going next year" and he agreed. We couldn't go over a year without going to OUR favorite place in the whole world! So in October 2007 we had enough aeroplan miles to buy our flight and we did, so we booked a 2 week flight from July 5-19th. Again, fast foward past Halloween and Christmas. DH applied for a conference on Prince Edward Island and the dates were July 6th to 11th. He really wanted to go, so we decided that if he was accepted we would go and re-arrange our flight for disney. :surfweb: Well, he was accepted and I can tell you it was a scrammble to find a good flight to Orlando, :confused3 but I did find a good one and it was for an even longer period of time...July 17th to August 2nd! :cool1: 17 days, I can tell you I am okay with that!!

So if you are gonna be at WDW between those dates, we should have a dismeet!!

So, whre was I?! Ah..yes...well it is only 17 days until we leave for disney and my in-laws changed it all! We had offered to anyone that wanted to come to Orlando when we were down there, a place to stay. We have rented a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath townhouse and we figured we'd have plenty of room. Well no one was bitting and I went ahead and did my intinary....had it all down to a science (as I am sure you all know how it goes...working around those ADR's and such!) Well..my lovely MIL decides they are goping to come down for a week (RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of our trip!!:scared: ) AND to make maters worse- THEY ARE NOT GOING TO DISNEY!! [are they :sick: how can one come to Orlando and not go to disney world!!] Anyways, I had to scrammble and re-arrange ADR's, re-arrange disney days because we will have to o somethings with them...and luckly it all worked out and everything is fine...here's our plans...

SO, DH and I are on our trip before the BIG trip to the happiest place in the world! We are in Halifax now and will be heading to Prince Edward Island tomorrow for a week. Hubby surprised me and book a night before PEI in Halifax because they have a disney store and I wanted to buy some shirts for my up coming disney trip :dance3: Gosh- he surprises me sometimes!!:love: :flower3: Well, the planning for disney has been going well. I went on a major shopping trip yesterday for some last minute items, hand sanitizer, wet naps, small mini sun screen, etc (things to bring to the parks) Once we get back home, and before we leave for Orlando, I will post some of my pre-trip shopping and of my new disney tees (that I am going NOW to get) yahoo!!!:cool1:

So I am on my vacation before my BIG disney vacation!! :lovestruc I am having fun, but it's NO DISNEY!! :lmao: :goodvibes

So, I wanted to give everyone a little more info and pre-trip background!! I went shopping on Saturday at the disney store!! Well- they had 50% off the clerance items!! Tee shirts were 3.99!! It was too bad that they only had one tee that was my size. I am going to go ahead and post the pics from the disney shopping website!!

Well I thought I'd go through my intinary in a bit more detail:

July 17th- Arrive in Orlando around 8:30pm (give or take a few minutes) Of course I would love to go to disney on this day, it'd be a waste of a days ticket. So, once we pick up the rental car, find the town house, go to the super walmart and pick up a few grocery items we'll be ready to sleep and be well rested for tomorrow!!

July 18th- On this day we will be spending the full day at the Magic Kingdom- my favorite park! This is what disney world means to me, princesses, classic characters and the castle :lovestruc We will be trying to make it to rope drop and then stay until about 2pm. After that we will try and go for a rest back at the townhouse and then go back to the Magic Kingdom and watch WISHES!!!!:hug:

July 19th- On this day we are hoping to make it to rope drop at the Animal Kingdom. Stay at the park until 1:00 and then head over to DHS for a ADR at 1:30 at Sci-Fi. Stay at the park as long as we are able to. We don't wanna push ourselves!

July 20th-This is our full Epcot day and we also have an ADR at Le Cellier for lunch @ 2:10pm. We will be trying for rope drop and then leaving the park after our ADR. We will then be heading back to Epcot for a snack and Illuminations.


I will finish this up later tonight, I have to run and pick up hubby from his conference!!!

Hey Jen...just a 'lil tip....

Make sure you leave enough time between AK and DHS. Even with a rental car, the "tram times" in & out of the parks off peak hours take a lot longer. There are less trams running and the ones that are wait longer in the lots for people to get on. We did 1/2 day in AK to 1/2 day in DHS in December...it literally took 1 1/2 hrs for us..(we did run thru the on-property Mickey D's drive thru). Just wanted to give you a heads up!:thumbsup2

Although, I can't stop thinking about everything that I have to do for my WDW trip and I'll only have 4 days to get it done when we get home, and one of those days is my friends little boys 2nd birthday party and on July 15th is my birthday :banana:

Yes it is!! Although, it is very similar to home for me as I live in one of the 4 Maritime Provinces in Canada! (I live in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia) PEI is only a 5 hour drive from home. I'll post some pics once I arrive home :)

What part of Georgia are you in again? I think I recall reading somewhere that you are near downtown Atlanta? I worked at Camp Misty Mountain, the girl scout camp, located in Armuchee, GA as a camp counselor in 2001. I just loved that state :)

I know exactly where Camp Misty Mountain and Armuchee are -- I live in NW Georgia pretty close to there -- I got my Masters at Berry College in Rome! It's a beautiful part of the state.

Downtown Atlanta is about a 35-45 minute drive for us if traffic is moving the way it should.

So it is another beautiful day here in PEI. party: It is 30 degrees celsius (86 F) but feels like it is 35 C (95 F) So it is preparing me for those long walking disney days!! After I dropped Matt off at his conference, I went and did a little shopping! I bought 4 little mini notepads to bring to disney so I can jot down information for my TR, I don't want to forget anything (and I would if i didn't write it down!!:laughing: ) So while I am waiting to pick Matt up, I decided to continue with the detailed intinary!!

July 21st- On this day I decided that we would split our parks and go to the Magic Kingdom for rope drop, have lunch at the MK (probably Peco Bill's) and then after lunch, head over to DHS.

July 22nd-This is the day that my In laws are arriving for their week stay. I decided since we are going to want to spend the evening with them, we would forgo the parks and head to DTD in the morning. This way we can head back to the townhouse and have a swim before there flight arrives at 3pm. They are renting their own car so we are just meeting them at the townhouse. We'll probably have dinner somewhere in Orlando with them.

July 23rd-DH and I are going to try and talk his parents into getting a day ticket and coming to Animal Kingdom with us in the morning! They have never been there. If they do, we will be spending the whole day at AK. If not, then Matt & I will be there in the morning and then be doing DHS in the evening with a night showing of Fantasmic!!

July 24th- I am actually looking foward to this day, even though it has no disney involved. I love :lovestruc shopping and I have been deaming of going to ikea, pottery barn and the outlet malls!!:love: I am happy that my mother in law will be with us because she enjoys shopping as much as I do and we all know how shopping goes with husbands...:rotfl2:

July 25th-Universal Day (not nearly as fun as disney) Matt really wants to go on the Hulk ride at IOA...I would be happy skipping it altogether, but I think the inlaws wanna go there as well, so I will give it!

July 26th- This is a disney day for Matt and I. I am not sure of what park we will be going to..haven't decided that one yet! Although we have a 6:35 ADR at BOMA so we will be heading back from the park around 4:30-5:00 to get showered and dressed. The inlaws are coming for this meal as well.

July 27th- Day down in Indian Shores for a day at the beach, some shopping and some sightseeing!!

July 28th- My inlaws leave on this day in the morning. So we will say goodbye and then be heading to one of the lovely parks. :wizard:

July 29th-disney

July 30th-This day will be for sleeping in, heading over to DTD to do a little more shopping and playing some mini golf, any suggestions on what course to play at disney?? :banana:

July 31st- Unsure of the park. Suggestions welcomed!:confused3

Aug. 1st- This will be a 'do what we missed' disney day! If there is any ride that we want to do that we haven't had the chance, we will!!

Aug. 2nd- Leaving :idea: :sad2: :sad1: We can sleep in though, which will be nice :) Our flight doesn't leave until 11:40 am, so we don't have to be at the airport until 9:40am...so that means we can sleep until 6am!!:rotfl2: :lmao: :goodvibes

I like how you have some days with nothing planned except disney so you can be flexible. Thats what we plan on doing. lIke if we feel like going to a water park that day we might or if we feel like going on a bike ride at Ft Wilderness we might.

"This new disney update brought to you today by..." :rotfl2: (Can you tell I was just listening to Mike's podcast Episode 432 & 433) :cool1: DH & I listen to them whenever there is a new episode, we both really enjoy the guys!! (Matt, Mike, Mike & Len) :banana: So- this new disney update is actually about our tickets for the parks! We bought them TODAY!!! :banana: :dance3: We decided to get the tickets through CAA and since there is one here in Charlottetown (and no local offices in Sydney [where we live]) that we would pick them up today!! So we did, and we will also get the CAA/AAA diamond parking!! I am quite excited about that!! Our tickets are the 10 day MYW PH ones. Mine has a picture of Minnie ::MinnieMo and Matt has one of Mickey ::MickeyMo !

That is the latest disney info for our upcoming trip...'give us 5 minutes and we'll give you the world!!' :hug: :woohoo:

So did you ever get annoyed by packing? If you answered yes, then welcome to my world right now!! :scared1: I have been packing for the past 3 days and you would think that I would be finished, but no...sadly, I am not! :headache: :rolleyes1 I then decide that I am going to finish packing today because tomorrow is my 27th birthday :eek: :banana: and Matt & I are going out for dinner with my parents and I kinda wanna relax on my birthday!! So I am looking for my pack that I bought in December for this trip..it's perfect- small, looks like a purse, but can be a fanny pack around the waist for the rollercoaster rides, I just love it :love: But do you think I can find the dang thing?? :mad: You guessed it..no I have searched everywhere possible!! I just can't find it, so I decided to come on disboards to vent!! Thanks for listening!!

Did you ever find your bag? I hope so. I have my Disney specific bag and I would be lost without it.

for 17 days are you basically taking everything summery in your wardrobe? How many days are you planning laundry? (I'm debating this now for mine too)

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I can't believe that I am 27 years old today...wow!:rolleyes1 As for the packing, I had a hard time deciding what to bring so I ended up packing 11 pairs of shorts and about 20 tops...We have a washer/dryer unit in the townhouse, so I will probably end up doing laundry! I just brought all this stuff because I have no idea what I will feel like wearing each day! I have a hard time making up my mind!!

I still can't believe that I am leacing for the airport TOMORROW!!

Well today is the day!! :cool1: DH & I are leaving this afternoon to head to the airport, we have to spend the night there (in a hotel) but then we are 'leaving on a jet plane' and headin' to Orlando!!:dance3: I can't wait!! I will be writing up a TR once I arrive back!!:thumbsup2

Okay girls & guys, I am finally back from my 17 day adventure of Disney/ Orlando area and what can I say....DH & I had a blast!! I kept notes for my TR and will be starting it very soon I promise..as soon as I get all the pictures uploaded to this computer :) I hope everyone is having a fab summer & loads of fun planning for there trip...I've already started planning my 2009 trip...thinking a cruise maybe:dance3: We will have to wait and see :)
