Hey all! here is our new home.
DDA originally stood for Disney Design Addicts as most of the posters were addicted to making t-shirt designs. Those designers are still here and many many more people have joined our friendly community. We think that DDA still fits whether you be a Disney Design Addict, Dear Disney Addict, Disney Dream-aholics, Disney Dream Addicts or whatever other acronymn you'd like to throw in there.
Welcome to all the returning posters and welcome to any newcomers that might like to chat about design and all things Disney.
Copied from Deb and Theresa because they worded it so well.

I just wrote this on the other thread but I thought I would put it here in case no one sees it...
After much hemming & hawwing about my resort choice & saving some $ I have switched our ressie from BC to POR. I saved $1200 with the AP rate PLUS dining over my CM rate & OOP for dining. If we took only one trip this year I would have left it at the BC but since we already were lucky enough to go to the BWI this year I knew this was the better choice to make. Of course I will miss my BC but the savings will make up for it. My only peeve with POR was the buses but now we will have our own car so it should be fine.
We have to come in a day earlier so our trip dates are 8/17-8/29. Anyone still there on 8/17???
I am so excited!

So Stephanie and I were driving to lunch and I asked her if I could buy the plane tickets for the trip down when SW puts out the ding on June 26. Now, mind you, I am a little slow at times. I was born blonde. :lmao:
I guess I figured that the dates were only open to the beginning of our trip. Not for the whole month of December.
I could see that she was getting a little frustrated cause at one time she crossed herself and muttered, 'God she was born blonde' :lmao:
I kept thinking since I had the $$ now I would get tickets for the flight down if that was okay with her. She kept saying that I could do it and she would get them for the way home. Whatever time I wanted, coming or going was okay. Needless to say, I muttered under my breath something like witch while I was getting out of the car. :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
So, we are sitting at our favorite Sushi place and she asked me if the headrest worked out fine today. She was able to get it fixed.
We came in my car-----------
:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: not hers.
We figure there has to be some blonde in her too.:rotfl2:

We like POR, and that is a significant savings! I've been thinking about a moderate, but I'm leaving it at POP. This is supposed to be as low-budget as possible for me.
We're at WDW from 8/13-8/23, so we'll still be there!

My only worry was the buses as well, but we will make do & you have made me feel much better! I know you are saving a lot of money, but to leave BC for POR, says a lot :thumbsup2

I really think that I would have changed hotels by now if I had "control" of my own reservation. It really is best to just keep it, though, so I'm glad I don't. We'll see how Laura feels about it tomorrow! Though she is going to catch me if I keep typing about it now with her home. :rotfl:

I think that is a great decision. We have stayed at POR and POFQ and liked them both. POR was definitely roomier than POP, but not hard to navigate. We too had a car so no problems there.
Glad you're home safely Denise. Travelling with kids is oh so much fun. I can't wait to travel home from Florida with all 3 boys  I hope that more kids can come to the party. Are their any cousins or neighborhood kids that you could invite just to boost numbers?

We don't have one around here and don't get to Disney until the 28th
All this talk of resort changes is kind of funny. We typically go as least expensive as possible because really we are not in the room much at all. With the cost of living rising exponentially we just feel priveledged to be able to vacation as often and as long as we do. This trip is for 3 weeks and we have fun things planned, but it will definitely be a budget trip. We will eat in the camper as much as reasonable possible and limit souveniers. As long as we have fun that is all that matters. :woohoo:

This has been one interesting day to say the least. The kids have been as well behaved as 5 kids can be. I'm not sure how it happened, but I'm not going to question it. I worked in my bedroom while they watched Toy Story and Toy Story 2. Then I was looking for something in the master bedroom closet and the shelf and clothes bar on Chris' side ripped out of the wall. Everything hit the floor. What a mess. It made some nice holes in the wall too. I was able to use big wall anchors and longer screws to get it back up without much visible damage. When Chris gets home he needs to weed out about 2/3 of the crab he has in there. He wears uniforms for work so it's not like he needs tons of clothes. The problem is that he is a pack rack. Chances are he will not wear his high school football jersey again, but it was still hanging in the closet :confused3 I also managed to replace the thermostat in our room.
I think that other than a quick clean through next week I'm all set there. At least it will be after Chris does his part tonight.

Well, Chuck was going to go camping tonight and I was going to meet him tomorrow. While I was helping him get the camper ready, there was a very loud noise and smoke coming out from under the Denali. Thank goodness it looks like something to do with the air conditioning. A line came disconnected. Chuck is working on getting it in for service in the morning so we'll still be able to go for the rest of the week-end.
For a few minutes there, I thought I was going to have the house all to myself for a night. Oh well, maybe next time.

Anyone still there on 8/17???

does anyone have 2 teeshirt transfers i can have? i pay ya for them. You can get a small (like 3 sheets) package at JoAnn fabrics or Micheals and they always have like 40% off coupons. It would be less than it would cost to ship some to you and I'm not real good about making it to the PO when I need to.

It was really good and the portions were huge! I got Emma plain pasta one night but she wouldn't eat it because it was a high protein pasta and she didn't like the look of it. I think she's a tiny bit better this year but I'll enjoy having the microwave and I'm bringing a hot pot too so she can have soup or hot dogs or easymac.
Chuck and I enjoy the food court at POR so much that we took the boat from OKW to DTD. Then the boat from DTD to POR just for dinner. We needed a relaxing evening away from my sister and decided that riding the boat was just the ticket. Mom and the girls came with us. Chuck ordered a beef dinner and I ordered a turkey dinner. They were both really good. Katrina and Mom got two different kinds of pasta with sauce. We all shared and have some of everything. Yummy! And then we repeated the boat rides back to OKW. It was a wonderful evening. We also got some brownies and magic (7-layer) bars for when we got back to the resort. Piano Bob was at POR that night so we stayed to watch him for a while as well.

Hey all! here is our new home.

I think you made a wise choice, Anne Marie. For what it's worth, we love POR. It is one of our favorite moderate resorts! And we never had any bus problems.

She is doing well! Her lymph nodes were 6 positive out of 22. Not sure what to make of that exactly. I think it puts her at stage III instead of II. :worried: At any rate, she is doing fine. Diva is not as bad as she could be. ;)

GRRRR! :furious: If I had known that I would have WAITED! I have a call in to our guide to see if there is any way we can get the bonus but I am not the least bit hopeful.

Well we love it. I think we have been 5 times (1 time with the DDA) so far & never has it dissapointed us. My kids love the pretzel bread & the chocolate mousse.
ETA: Oh I just saw your note about the tables..
Chuck loves LeCellier. I didn't make reservations for this trip because I wasn't sure what was happening with all the family. We tried a couple of times to get in for 3 or 4 different nights and there was nothing available. We also tried to walk up one night. No go.

I'm saving those for the Dec. trip ::yes::
We went for dinner in 2006 & 2007 and it was great both times-we were on DDP both trips.
I've never been for breakfast but have always read good reviews for breakfast. Those pancakes sound good but not for me in August before heading to the parks.

I called Disney Dining and they did have availability for lunch. She gave me a bunch of times and then said that it would be separate tables :confused3 We would have a table of 2 and a table of 3. That doesn't work real well with the kids :rotfl2: I guess we'll save it for a different trip.
Deb - from eveything I've read......the CM's at disney dining always tell people their party will be split because they only show tables for 4 or 8 or 2 or whatever. But when you get to the restaurant, 95% of the time they are together, because the CMs at the actual restaurant can group you together. I've actually done this myself and not had a problem.

I agree, I can't imagine them separating you from your children. Of course if they want to do that & watch the boys for you, you & Chris could have a nice lunch together :rotfl:

We've never done Le Cellier. I wonder if we should see if they have any ADRs available while we are there :confused3 Do you think it would be worth it for us?
I was going to say that ther was nothing available during our Novembeer stay when I called, but I see you already called.
Anne Marie - I'm glad to see that Katie was feeling well enough for rehearsal, I've spent many hours watching dance rehearsals and competitions, my oldest DD teaches a tumbling class at a dance studio now so she got to know the other side of Recitals this year, she was one of the ones who stood in the wings and did the "babies" dances with them. Katie is a beautiful girl.
We leave on the 16th in August also.
Elizabeth - glad you made it there safely.
Tammie and Elin - Your town looks beautiful, enjoy your day tomorrow.
Deb - Glad you finally got the shirt to work. I used the stretchable iron ons for our cruise shirts, they came out good and felt great, but when I washed them afterwards they really faded. Sounds like your really making some great progress, you'll be there before you know it. Wave as you pass my way!

Mom is running a fever of 101.5 now.:worried: She claims it is because she hasn't had any pain meds since 7 AM, and that if she had been taking them as scheduled she wouldn't have a fever. She has those Tylenol 3 things with codeine, which would also reduce any fever. I am not very happy with that explanation. Her discharge papers say to call for fever over 100. I told her if she continues to be feverish we are going to call the surgeon's office or the hospital.
DH called earlier to tell me I got a ticket in the mail for running a red light a couple of weeks ago. $75 fine. :furious: I don't run red lights! It was when I was coming back from the salon. There is an intersection where there are 2 lights really close together. If the back one turns green before the front one you end up in the intersection, and apparently when the back one turned red my bumper was still in the intersection. It is a very congested area. (NW Hwy & the Tollway, for Marci & Lindsay.) So I didn't "run" the light in the sense of driving through it after it changed. I would have been at a dead STOP when it turned red. Red light cameras suck.
So there you have it!

Elizabeth, you need to call the doctor if her fever is 101.5. Does she have any redness near the incision site or drainage? Keep me posted!
Karen, your dad is in my prayers for his surgery!
Anne Marie and everyone planning trips, you are making me very jealous. You'll have so much fun.
Deb, we had split reservations in April/May, and they sat us together with no questions. I don't think they wanted 3 kids at a table by themselves.
We had to cancel December, but hopefully we'll go in April again before my AP expires. But I am really looking forward to our 1st cruise!

Hi all! Have we heard from Glynis? Someone please PM me!
As for us, we got home yesterday around 11:30am, and only that late because we took our time. We didn't turn the computers on once, because having these girls here (especially after sitting around staring at empty baby stuff for 10+ weeks) is way more fun. No offense! ;)
I'm REALLY hoping to get pictures started today, because I think it will be a several day project. I think a lot of things will have to wait until Kyle goes back to work though. Spending a fake paternity leave (4 measly days) in the hospital just isn't fair, so we're really feeling the crunch on our time before we don't have as much of it! :(
Peds appointment today, but I'll try to update more eventually. Everyone is doing well, the dog is fascinated with the girls and not at all phased by them, they continue to do well. I slept so well last night a) not pregnant and b) not in the worst hospital bed ever. I'm feeling pretty good, although nobody warned me about the post c-section swelling that is exponentially worse with multiples. I was so skinny after delivering, and I have gained about 8 pounds of fluid.... all in my legs. Yes, the entire length of my legs. It's so bizarre, and I also am shocked at how bad edema can hurt! It's making the surgery stuff (incision, uterine incision which I swear I can feel better than the skin incision!) worse, since I'm stretching out some, but we're getting through just fine. I continue to be up as much as possible, without making the swelling unbearable. In general, I can't remember whe n I felt so good!
I'll talk to you more soon, especially once it's just us girls here and they mostly just sleep! You know, when I'm not just watching them! :rotfl: :cloud9:

Mom says her fever has resolved. We'll see how she feels later this morning. Better to address it TODAY than going into the weekend when we won't be able to get ahold of anyone.
Denise - She still has a drain in the wound so there is fluid draining continuously. She said the incisions aren't red or hot or anything. She keeps arguing that she wouldn't have had a fever if she had been taking her meds on a regular schedule. Well, the meds would have masked the fever. I may call the surgeon's office when they open just to get their take on it. I also want some directions on what to do if the fever spikes over the weekend.
Good morning! :wave2:
Sorry Deb, yesterday was not a good day to have a baby, at least not for me! :teeth:

Put them in the dryer and get them hot. Then put them on your feet or pull on the areas that are tight. That should loosen them up. The other option is to get your feet good and stuck in the mud and try to pull your feet up. That does a good job of stretching them as well :thumbsup2

I've made sure that the boys rooms are all tidied up. I didn't make them vacuum or dust, but at least everything is put away and all the stuff that came home from school has found a home...much of it in the fire pit. I've also done 2 loads of laundry so that is caught up. Since we had to do a thourough cleaning last week we are in really good shape for next week. I took Mom to have some labs drawn. They want to make sure her white cell count isn't too high. She wasn't happy about that.
I want to go to the grocery store and buy some food, but she isn't feeling very well so I brought her home. I am going to have to draft Diva to come with me because I will never find my way back if I try to go out alone! I am STARVING, so Diva better hurry up with her shower!
Speaking of changes, we switched over to the Poly. :rolleyes1 It seems to me that DH has said before that he wants to try it sometime. So we'll try it! I have to move the fishing excursion to the Poly dock instead of WL, and I need to change an ADR for the day we move from SSR to Poly. Did you ask for Alligator Bayou or the Mansions when you go in August?
We will be staying at the AB section as thats the only rooms that fot 5. I was thinking of having the boys do the catch & release fishing trip..Dana is not a fisherman but Daniel has wanted to go for some time & this time would be good.
Our arrival plans are to check in on the 17th, take the boat to DTD, shop til we drop (resort change means more goodies to bring home!:woohoo: ) maybe eat at Wolfgang Puck's (haven't been there since 1998) & then take the bus to the BC & go to Epcot with dinner at Biergarten that night. Red light cameras suck.First did he really have to tell you about it? Second, can you fight it?
I'll talk to you more soon, especially once it's just us girls here and they mostly just sleep! You know, when I'm not just watching them! :rotfl: :cloud9::wizard: Hope your swelling goes down soon! It must be wonderful to be home! Can't wait to see more photos of your cuties!

They gave me an antibiotic and medicine to relax the bladder and relieve the irritation. Said to take 800mg of Advil and have a drink! So, I'm having a glass of wine, standing up (sitting really hurts), DISing and looking at cruises! I definitely need the surgery, so it's a go for July 8.
I've got to go make sure everything is packed for the b'day party, and I'll be back later.

We had a lot of fun. The tour was interesting, and we were the only 'locals' on board. I will upload and post some pictures later.Sounds like a fun outing!
So not only did I have a tick on me after doing my yard work, I've also learned that I've got poison ivy. Beings as though I've never had it, I had Elin confirm it. I was itchy afterwards but just thought it was because I had been out in the dirt and weeds. Little did I know what I was trimming down was poison ivy. It is getting progressively worse and I've broken out the cortizone cream.
Hope it clears up fast!
Jen (and everyone else)- I think you have to see this story on another set of twins born this week:

I do have to work tonight.
Hope you have a super busy night with lots of money or are you not serving?
Sounds like you are booked in your head...so am I!;) My mind is always working on the next Disney trip.:thumbsup2
Hope they have something besides ice cream & chips :rotfl:What time do you land in Orlando? Maybe you should get something at the airport before you go to ME?

Do you need to wear shoes? how about a pair of ballet slippers instead? http://www.advantagebridal.com/emhecubaslin.html
They still pinch in two spots. I just have really wide feet, and even these seem small in the arch area... Don't get me wrong, they are still comfortable, that's for sure, except for those two spots. I don't get it. I still have my back up pair. :rotfl:

Hope all is well with your mom & I am glad you took her in!
You are going to love the Poly! I keep eyeballing it for our last few nights, but I keep telling myself that I can't really afford it(& I can't). Hopefully it will show up unavailable & then I will quit thinking about it. Right now I can get it for the 12th - 16th. I need to quit checking the AP site, but that's not going to happen :rotfl:
What dates did you book?
Well, I actually ended up taking Mom BACK to the lab because her urine specimen was too small for them to test. While we were there she stopped in the surgeon's office and had the nurse look at her incision. Hopefully we'll hear back on the labs today. She just feels kind of icky overall, and that's making her grouchy, too.
We're at the Poly Aug. 11-14, then moving to AKV.
Call the 800 number.
There isn't one.
Glad you enjoyed your day with Daniel!
I agree, when Garrett & Riley are together they can drive me crazy lol Seperatly they are angels :goodvibes
Sounds like DH and DS! :rotfl2:

That sounds mighty unpleasant! Hope it heals quickly! :wizard:

Good luck with the party!
DVC members may now call 11 or 7 months from the date of check IN and book for the check in date plus up to 7 more nights! Policy changed this morning.
ALSO, the confirmation I got for my Poly ressie says I must cancel 45 days out to receive my full deposit back on my discounted room. I think it might just be for rooms booked online, though. At any rate, there is a policy about cancelling a discounted room, so beware.

Have fun with the Fig's party! They are getting so big!
Tammi, I have to go out and weed some today. I don't want poison ivy though, so I might use that as an excuse!:rolleyes1

Leighanna loved this ride. But this was her friend's first visit to any type of amusement park. She was a little unsure of this ride. Notice the tight grip on Leighanna's hand. She did that several times throughout the day!

We had a really nice time. Cedar Point has really changed alot over the last decade. Lots of kids areas in several areas of the park. New restaurants with table service. Leighanna would love to go back again. I think next time we will stay on site and do it in a couple of days. There was an awful lot to take in on one full day!
