We used to have the coolest button shop in the mall near my office years ago.

I just looked it up and they still have a retail location in Boston. I may have to go in someday.

I tried to do a search on black and white buttons and came up with this necklace. http://store.sawyerbrook.com/Merchant/buttons/distinctive/666stiletto.jpg

Maybe I should just use 2 stacked buttons.

I just got back from the health clinic. I'm still breaking out in allergic rashes so I got another steroid shot and a 3rd round of steroid pills. The nurse said that hot showers and stress aggravate the breakouts. How do I get rid of stress???

 I hope the third time is a charm, Tammi...

I had an allergic reaction to a piece of jewelry this week. I was luckily able to recognize the symptoms and got hydrocortisone cream on it right away. It is almost cleared up. I hope the same for you very soon.

I love love love this post!!
I think your bets are great incentive and predict that you will have much fun at CA Grill and the P&P Party!! :thumbsup2

Your excitement for the Wii and its Fit program has me thinking about buying one. Kristin and I would love to do something like that together. I need another "jump start" and she would like to take off about 10-15 pounds and get more toned. She hates doing yoga at our house so she has been sedentary since graduation. I think another purchase is in our future. Maybe as a combination birthday present for the two of us.Thanks Elin. I actually enjoy exercising on the Wii. It's fun. And I love looking at my standinds whenever I beat my daughter!! The grandkids kill me though...:)

Stephanie - I can already guarantee that I will be the child who loses the least weight, so you can go ahead and make my shirt now. I wear a Large. Can't wait to spend the day with you! :love:I wqould love having you go to a party with me! That would be so much fun. :cool1: :cool1:

Alright everyone, time to get personal. How old are you?

I am 41 and John will be 43 July 26th

I am 26. One of the people I graduated with has a 10 or 11 year old. I could not imagine. Then again I was often asked if my cousin was my baby when he was younger, as I watched him a lot he will be turning 10 in August.

So the picnic was very nice. The best part was getting to hold 2 month old twin boys Rees and Isaac. They are my neighbor's sister and brother in law's 10th and 11th kids.

Also if you could keep Don and his family in your prayers. This is the 7th time he has been in the hospital since December. He got pneumonia and has had on and off staph infections. He is currently in the hospital with a staph infection. His kids are 5 and 10.

Night everyone.

Love, love, love it all!!! The prizes are priceless! Can't wait to see how you all do.I just turned down sweet potato pie!!!! This my friends, is a first.:cool1: :cool1:

I forgot to tell you about my purchase the other day. I was strolling leisurely through Target and looked down in the video game case. To my surprise they had 2 Wii's in stock. It was a sign. Nicholas has been saving his money to buy one, so I got it. He wasn't with me. After I came home I asked him if he still wanted one, which he did. So I told him that I would pay for half of it, that way it would be a 'family' thing, and told him to go get me his money and I would go get the Wii. He did, and I got lots of thank yous and hugs for allowing this to happen. He went about his business and I went out to the van and brought the Wii in. He was thrilled, and so surprised! But the little guy is so smart. He says "well you didn't need my money to buy it, so can I have it back?" :lmao: Um, no, that's not the way this is going to work. So we got the Wii and the Wii Sports. I told him whatever other games he wants he will be buying himself.I honestly didn't think I would enjoy a vidoe game. I love the Wii. I love guitra hero. LOve the sports. Love Mario Karts. And really love the Wii fit!!!:cool1: :cool1: And also love that my bloated Mii stays in the Wii Fitt parlor. When she is playing other games she deflates back to normal. YAY:banana:

After walking around town yesterday afternoon in the heat, humidity and crowds, I said to Bob "I wonder how much it would be if I canceled our August flights." I'm really worried how I'm going to stand Florida in August.Tammi, it was hot enough for me in October. I would try the ice-in-the-bra trick like Anne Marie. :worship: :worship:

Tsk, tsk. But I suppose you can have a free pass this time. Packing for work isn't fun. And you don't really know what you are supposed to bring! At least the cruise box is taking shape!

I haven't started packing, but the closet is sectioned off according to what clothes I am taking to WDW. I would pack now, but the 29" suitcases have the smaller suitcases inside. When we pack we usually line up the luggage in the hallway, and I don't want to trip over suitcases for the next 26 days. Princess will be in camp every morning the week before the trip so I will have some extra time for trip prep. Of course I have to get her stuff ready to go, too, because she'll be with her grandparents while I am gone.

I knew you could do that, but we have only done it once. From AK to MGM, I think. We usually go back to the hotel after lunch, so it is rare for us to go from one park directly to another park. I can't remember now WHY we did that, either. :confused3

I had better post quickly while I can, my internet service has been driving me insane. It goes out every day and stays out all day long, they are sending a tech out tomorrow to check the lines.

Amy - Congratulations, Noah is beautiful. And yes, I would have to agree with Kevin, he is a very lucky man.

Jennifer - The girls are just precious, they look just alike, if I didn't know better I would think all the pictures wer of the same baby.

Theresa - We miss you, please let us know if there is anything we can do.

Tom - Glad to hear that mom is improving.

Elin - Welcome home

Tammi - :wizard: PD that this round of shots does the trick, I certainly hope you don't decide to cancel August.

Steffy - Loved the picture of your Wii family, we also have the Wii fit and I really enjoy it too, especially the step exercises. We'll have to come up with a really colorful design for your shirt!

Robyn - Hope you're enjoying your trip.

We're trying to come up with some unique and cute names for girls, any suggestions? I like Cheyenne, but I haven't talked to DD about that one yet.

Well I'm off to get the laundry started and scrub the bathroom, I'll check back in later if my internet cooperates.

I don't even know what the "Deadliest Catch" is! :rotfl: I don't think he does either. He was watching something about rats so I asked him to please change the channel or go back to our bedroom to watch it. BLECH!

It's a reality show about the crab fishermen in the Bering Sea. It's on the Discovery Channel. I LOVE that show! Captain Sig is going to be at Epcot next weekend - I am sad that I will miss him! He is a 4th generation crab fisherman. His family is from Norway, so he does promos at the Norway pavilion now and then. He and 2 of his brothers own their boat.
It's an interesting show. If the guys catch a lot their paychecks can be staggering (like $30,000 per crew member for 2 weeks of fishing) but it's so dangerous the money may not be worth it.
There is one boat where the dad has 2 of his sons on the crew. If that boat went down the poor mom would just be devastated! :guilty:

Captain Sig Hansen and his brothers Norman and Edgar from the Discovery Channel hit show "Deadliest Catch" will be at the Norway Pavilion July 10 -13.

Hansen is captain of the Northwestern. His crab-catching expeditions are featured on "Deadliest Catch" and also served as inspiration for the XBox 360 "Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm" video game.

The Hansens will sign autographs and take pix with visitors. In addition, they'll have Northwestern merchandise for sale

There you have it!
I haven't managed to see any of the new episodes, but I caught a piece of one where they were saying at least one boat went down this year and the entire crew died. :sad2:

Hi all...Just a quick check in from the road. We are on the Cross Bronx Expressway and hope to be home by 3pm.

We had a great time but we are all sick. I am horribly congested and cannot swallow. Molly has no voice and is congested. Emma is just stuffy. Lucy's teeth have been working their way in so is a snotty, congested mess. I think Eric is ok but I know he'll come down with something just so he isn't left out!

I have no idea when I'll get a chance to get back on. We have to get the dogs and gear up for tomorrow so I know I'll be busy. I can't wait to get into my own bed tonight. Lucy has her 1 year check up tomorrow. And Eric's sister, BIL and kids arrive tomorrow. I'll need some pixie dust to survive this next week or so.

I did read all 27 pages y'all posted since I was gone, nothing better to do in the car!

Congrats to Amy, Kevin, Alyssa & Matthew on Noah's safe arrival. He is an absolute gorgeous baby.

Debbie- Congrats on the soon to be newest addition to your family!

Jennifer- Avery and Elise are adorable.

Janet- Hope you are feeling better. Take it easy.

Glynis- Loving your trip report.

Steffy- Loved the Mii pics. We are on the hunt for one.

Karen- I am glad you dad is doing well.

Tammi- I hope the new drugs help.

I know there is way more that I missed but the battery is about to die.

Well, if Peanut doesn't cooperate, and comes out a pink fluffy, she'll be Isabelle Grace. If all goes as we are hoping, he will be Timothy Locke, or Alan Timothy.

After Janet posted her and Gary's age, I realized that the age question was asked before, as I commented on the older woman aspect.

Lets see if I can remember...

Janet, Debbie, Deb, Glynis & Beth are older then their hubby's. :goodvibes

Very good!!!

I have always loved the name Isabelle. Unfortunately, none of my girls looked like an Isabelle! Alan says, "no way on Isabelle, it sounds too much like Jezebel!" What a nut!

I'm hoping for a Timothy, myself! We'll find out on the 22nd!

So I was doing this survey online for Disney Movie Rewards, and found it funny (and slightly embarrassing?) that we could check all of these things. I told Kyle that we have absolutely reached a "point of no return" as a Disney family! :rotfl:

I'm not sure about the Disney game for the Nintendo (I'm sure we probably did but can't think of one) but otherwise, I can say yes to all of these as well. What's funny is that my kids had a lot of Disney stuff when they were kids and I had forgotten until I started going through pictures to scan them. :lmao: They even had Michigan Tech University sweatshirts with Mickey on them.

Thanks-it is more difficult than it should be to find good buttons. We used to have the coolest button shop in the mall near my office years ago.

You might check out Goodwill or St. Vincent's. Mom gets a lot of her notions by buying clothes with cool ones. Sometimes it is cheaper than buying brand new buttons. Lots of times they have some really cool ones as well.

Ive been flipping back and forth--im actually watching Deadliest Catch Marathon

Im so excited now! after i got the credit with airtran, i called to see if i could apply my credit towards the 75.00 changing fee and get on an earlier flight that would land the same time as my cousins. So when i called, the flight i wanted to switch to was 20.00 cheaper, so it was only 55.00 to change--and i had a 57.00 credit! I ended up paying 10.00 to choose my seats. I was planning on paying 25.00 at the airport on saturday to switch flights so i ended up saving money--i am thrilled and will land 5 minutes after my cousin!!!

I walked the 6K in Engadine this week-end. My dad and a high school teacher were responsible for building it into a race that people want to run every year. It was almost cancelled a couple of times. There were 2 full buses of 6K runners this year. Plus, there were some that came to the starting line on their own. There is also a 12K and I'm hoping that I'll be able to run that next year. I walked at a very steady pace this year as I wanted a starting point for my training. I am quite excited as I did 15.67 minute miles. At this point, I don't think I could maintain that for 13.1 miles but 6K is supposedly 3.7 miles.

I am sick....I was around a gaggle of kids on Saturday....and have been suffering from a sore throat since. I broke down and went to the doctor today. She didn't really diagnose me....but gave me drugs...so I am happy

I need to man up because we have plans tonight...so hopefully the meds kick in quick.

In other news...(and I am totally blaming Chanon)we booked that 3 day cruise on the Magic that she was talking about....and...it's only Bill & I! We will spend 2 days at Boardwalk...3 days on the cruise...and then 4 days at OKW (although we are wait listed at BW & BC.) I think Bill is more excited than I am.

GOOD LUCK tomorrow Amy!!!!

Sorry I have been MIA again.

I could use some extra prayers and pixie dust if you have any to spare. I know that the DDA is a powerful group, and I could use all the extra power that I can get.

Mom was admitted into the hospital last week because she fell. She also went into one of her episodes that she couldn't remember anything or anyone. We all thought that maybe she had a mini stroke. She was getting better and was due to be released on Monday morning. Around noon on Monday she took a turn for the worse, and isn't responding to anything. The doctors really don't know what is the problem. She is having another test run today. They think she might be having seizures, but are not sure. She sure doesn't look good. My brothers and I don't really want to remember mom this way.
Normally she perks back up within 24 hours or so, but she has shown no improvement. Actually she is falling deeper and deeper into a coma like state.
Sorry for the downer post. But I really need all the help I can get right now.

pixiedust: and prayers for your mother and your family. I hope to see an update as I finish catching up.

Thanks for all the support about my weight loss. My kids have decided to add a little incentive...:lmao: :lmao:

I do know my kids love me. We are in a 13 week challenge to lose weight by the time my DDil wants to hire a photographer for family pictures.

She decided to really sweeten the pot. If I win, the kids will take to me to California Grill in March, no whining allowed, their treat. They will hire Fairy Godmother to come and watch the kids. If I lose, ***I*** am the Fairy Godmother and get to watch the kids after they have amped them up on sugar and cafenine. They will go to the dining place of their choice.

And then the side bet. The child who loses the least has to accompany me on one of my "special days" no whining. They have to wear the matching t-shirt, lighted Mickey ears hats, watch teh parades, the shows and see the fireworks. Hopefully a late night. I showed my son the Pirate and Princess party. He said he was going to make Nicole Richie look like she needed liposuction.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

And so it's on!! We are going to use the starting weight last week from the Wii. All of our little bloated Miis. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

The shirt is going to say Making magical memories with my Mom....:rotfl:

I love this side bet. I agree with Elizabeth though. This wouldn't give me any incentive whatsoever to lose weight. I mean what could be better than wearing matching tshirts, lighted Mickey ear hats, watching parades, and shows with Stephanie.

I have to share this with you. While walking the 6K on Friday, a man walked up behind me and the lady I was walking with when we had about 1K left. I turned around and it was my high school crush. He was the most popular guy in the school. He was a fantastic athlete. He finished the race with us.

He recently had a hip replacement. He asked if I had any problems and I told him no. We are both surprised at that. Mind you, he was the best athlete to graduate from my high school for many years ahead of us and many behind us. We both beat our bodies in sports. We pushed harder than anyone else (we weren't just natural athletes).

I can't imagine what anyone thought watching the end of the race that knew the two of us. The two best athletes of our decade, "Walked" across the finish line. :lmao: He and I were very competitive in sports. Us walking at all is funny to think about - let alone not making that last kick to improve our time.

Mom let BT take the picture of me crossing the finish line. I'm very bummed because it didn't take so I have no picture of walking across the line with Roddy Joe.

Maybe he's matured a bit... From the time I was 16 through college I worked at the front desk and then concierge of a Marriott in my suburb. The tennis players, coaches, etc all stayed (and still stay) there -- they practically fill the hotel -- when they come to town for the WS Masters Series. Granted, that was whatever... almost 8 years ago? He could be a total saint now, he just left a bad taste in my mouth. I read this on several different forums..Including the Dis....It's not a 100%...but since it has been reported by numerous sources...I am guessing it is true :confused3

But the biggie appears to foreshadow a major policy change. As of July 16, you will not be able to make any Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) for any dates past January 15, 2009. ADRs needed for January 16, 2009 or later will not be able to be booked until October 15.

There are 3 exceptions: Chef Mickey's,Cinderella's Royal Table, and Victoria and Albert's.

It looks like Disney is preparing to move the reservations window from 180 days back to 90 days, with the exception of the three most-in-demand. While the days of walk-up, same-day reservations everywhere are probably gone forever, it'll be nice not to have to worry about what you want to eat half a year in advance.

That makes sense to me. Can you imagine what it must cost Disney to have people making changes over & over again for their ADR's especially when they haven't been able to post the schedule within 180 days? I know they had issues getting the dates up in time for November. People were waiting and waiting for the schedule. Plus, other than us overplanners - who knows where they want to eat 6 months before their trip. With the economy, I see more of these chanages coming everywhere.

After hearing me talk about all of your stories of the Wii and the Wii fit, Alan has decided he wants one for Christmas. What is the best way to get one: ebay, online store, keep checking at my local stores, etc? What is an average price for a complete system? What do the individual games cost?

Wii is $250
Wii Fit is $89.99
Games range from $20 to over $100 depending what accessories and things come with them. Most are probably $50 -$60

jackskellingtonsgirl

so when did they change ADR's back to the 90 days out rule?

I totally missed that

Well, depends on who you ask. Apparently they are changing over the reservation system and the window may be 90 days temporarily for things other than the Big 3. I don't think Disney has announced what the actual policy will be once the computers have been switched over. I guess 90 days is OK. Whatever. After the August trip we aren't going back until NEXT August. If the reservation gods are smiling on me we'll be in concierge, so THEY can worry with the ADRs. ;)

No problem! I figured we'd have to spend around 400 dollars for the Wii and the Wii fit. That will be our family gift. I can hopefully stuff the kids stockings with the accessories and games.
So thanks for talkaign about the airfare lately--it made me keep checking!

Last year we bought Band Aid brand from the Band Aid section at Target. It was a brand new product. It worked great! Now it has apparently been discontinued.

Fine. I figured we'll get Body Glide.

REI had a shelf tag for it but they didn't have any in stock. DH went to Academy Sports today to get propane for the grill and they didn't have any Body Glide, either. On the way home DH stopped at the bicycle shop near our house and they didn't have any, either. All 3 of those places are listed on the Body Glide website.

It comes with the sports pack of games that includes baseball, bowling, golf, boxing and tennis. We worked up quite a sweat and got our heart rates up decently just with those!! It also has a controller and a nunchuck.

There is also one with the Wii Play games, I believe. They are more "kid oriented" in my opinion. They were entertaining, but would not provide a lot of value in the long run for a family like yours. (again, my opinion)... I bought the Wii Play set additionally because it was a very reasonable way to get the second controller and 6 games (at least that is how Tammi described it to me :rotfl: )!

I also think that you can purchase just the console with the controller... and I know there are bundles (like Elizabeth's) with a lot more things included that might do better for your larger family. It is worth doing your homework on, that's for sure!

Chef Mickey's used to be called Chef Mickey's Village Restaurant it was located in Downtown Disney. But that does not seem like what I remember.

On our first trip DS and I both flew on vouchers that AA donated to a charity event, but I just had to call and give them the voucher ID #'s.

I booked our August tickets on miles, which got squirrelly because DS has his own flier account but no credit card in his name. To book online the CC name and the flier mile name have to match. Luckily I called when their system was down so they waived the $15 fee for booking by phone. I think it is asinine to charge a fee for booking a minor who doesn't have a credit card. There is literally no procedure to book DS EXCEPT by phone, but whatever.

Chef Mickey's used to be called Chef Mickey's Village Restaurant it was located in Downtown Disney. But that does not seem like what I remember.

I have a feeling it was the Soundstage restaurant. They had different movie set pieces and changed it and themed it to different movies. Had characters from Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Pocahontas. It had a buffet, but initially was quick service.

We are talking 1998 or so here... it has to be Chef Mickey's, I think. There are characters on the walls there and there are characters present at the meals. there is a "tram" right nearby too. ;) You always find the most interesting info, Becky!

I love this side bet. I agree with Elizabeth though. This wouldn't give me any incentive whatsoever to lose weight. I mean what could be better than wearing matching tshirts, lighted Mickey ear hats, watching parades, and shows with Stephanie. Thanks Vicki. What a sweet thing to say.

I'm supposed to be working. However, the medicine I took for my sinus infection has made me very light headed. Instead I'm DISing and watching Clean Sweep. It is the Dirtiest House in America episode. It is quite gross.I was watching the same episode. Came into my bedroom and mopped the floor and dusted my dresser. :lovestruc

That's because we are NEVER growing up!Here Here!!!:cool1:

We just got one today. As per Tammi's instructions we got a Wii Sports Console ($249 at Best Buy on sale). We added the Wii Play set ($40) which has a second controller and an extra nunchuck ($20). I would either keep checking your local stores or buy it online. Amazon.com and eBay are out of sight in costs! I got Kristin the latest Legend of Zelda game for Wii for $50. I saw others as cheaply as $30 so I think they vary. Still no luck finding a Wii Fit, though. :(

I called TRU and asked what day they received their deliveries. My DD was standing outside (along with a dozen other people, they wouldn't hold one) when they opened.

Kevin -- thanks for posting the pics of Amy and Baby Noah. What a cutie he is! Please post more pics when you get a chance.

Denise -- congrats on the race!

Jennifer -- cute pics of the girls!

Steffy -- congrats on the Wii challenge. You go, girl!

Elizabeth -- I hope your Mom is feeling better. When is it she goes to the oncologist?

Kristine -- I hope you are feeling better. I'm afraid that the service from airlines is only going to get worse. Congrats on booking the special Magic cruise. I'm glad Bill liked cruising enough for you guys to turn around and go again so quickly. Some friends we met on my 40th birthday cruise go by themselves fairly often. They love getting to know the staff and relaxing without kids.

Glynis -- I've really been enjoying your TR. What wonderful memories for Katie!

Life is as busy as usual, though we did get to slow down some over the weekend and visit with friends at their lakehouse on Lake LBJ. (outside of Austin)

Have a great day everyone! :)

Fighting with them about what?

It appears that Body Glide is plentiful online, but I will have to buy $25 worth of it to have it shipped for free. Hmm.

Do you have a Dick's sporting goods? That's where we get ours. They should definitely have it at the running stores you mentioned, too.... good luck!

OK, DIS sleuths... Kristin has a friend who went to WDW about 10 years ago. One of his favorite meals was a buffet in a "large, circular room with cartoon characters on the wall" and he believes there were characters at the meal too. Since we are not a character meal family, I am not able to think where this might be. I have eaten at CM, 1900 PF, and LTT and it does not sound like any of those. This is your mission if you choose to accept it... and will self destruct in 30 seconds....

Sounds like Chef Mickeys to me.

Tom, sending prayers for your mom and all your family. Hang in there and know we're all with you.

Marci, glad you got some down time this weekend. Go get those uniforms for 10% off!

Elizabeth, yea for ADRs being done. Sorry I can't help with the glide stuff. And prayers for your mom's appt on the 9th.

Steffi, you go girl! You're already beautiful. I can't imagine how gorgeous you'll be after the challenge.

Chanon, your wedding is so close! The excursions for your cruise sound great.

Glynis, love the TR!

Elin and Kristine, I think ALL the airlines are really hurting. My FIL worked for Delta for 40+ years, and he said it is awful for the employees now. They keep switching the flights as they are trying to streamline the company. Hang in there.

Tammi, I hope the shot helped with the itching.

Elin, the pics with your nephew were great. What fun stuff y'all did!

Jen, I'm sorry the job didn't work out for you. The right one will come along, and they will be so lucky to have you.

Deb and Chris, keep the reports coming via the DDA. Hope your trip is just wonderful!

Vicki, hope you feel better!

Bernadette, love all the new outfits. You and Tom should start a business!

Becky, your trip is coming up soon! Fun!

Jennifer, love the pics of the girls on the 4th!

Amy and Kevin, hope y'all are home safely and enjoying your family! 2 boys and a girl is a wonderful combination.

Sending :wizard: and  to everyone else that I might have missed!

We stopped at CVS on our way home from Target this morning, and they had a shelf tag for the Band Aid blister stick. There are 2 more CVS's near Princess's house so we hit both of those and managed to find one stick.

I realized I had been carrying the car payment around in my purse since Friday, so we went by the post office. There is an independent pharmacy in that shopping center and they had a whole peg full of blister sticks! I bought 2 more, so the 3 new ones combined with whatever is left of the one from last year should be fine.
