My Son Loves Halloween….so we celebrated a month early at Disney!!!
We took an early Halloween, mother and (almost teen) son trip to Disney in Sept so we could attend our first MNSSHP, and we took a ton of photos!
We spent a lot of time planning, shopping, and doing crafts to get ready. It's all in the pretrip!
The trip report starts on pg. 18!!!
Index with links is in the second post.
************************************************** ************************
This trip is just my son, Jacob and I.
He is twelve and we both love Disney and love to travel.
He also loves to decorate for Halloween. He likes Halloween more than Christmas.

We are heading down for an extended weekend at the end of September. Fri 9/26 to Tues 9/30. At the moment, our plans include MNSSHP, the four Disney theme parks, Food & Wine festival, and some character meals. This will be our first time staying on sight! We will probably stay at POP! We have a lot planned for this trip including a lot of rides, a few shows, and this trip we want to stop and pay attention to the little details, and take lots of photos.
I just had to start my pretrip today, so I could say...
100 DAYS till DISNEY!!!!

Who’s going….And who’s not…
Just Jacob
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/orlando%200208/magic%20kingdom/wdw08ppp22.jpg
And I are going
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/boston/boston065.jpg
My 10 year old daughter Hannah and my husband are staying home this time.
My Dad and step mom who often join us won’t be there either.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/orlando%200208/magic%20kingdom/wdw08ppp19.jpg
I have been going to the Magic Kingdom since I was 8 years old. From age 9-17, I lived in South Florida and was lucky enough to make many trips to Orlando over the years. About 25 years ago my family bought a couple of weeks at a time share in Orlando. We’ve been staying there ever since.
My Dad & step mom live in Ft. Lauderdale and in March 2002 while visiting them we drove up to Orlando for a few days. We visited MK, Chef Mickey's and Sea World. The kids were 4 and 6 on this first Disney trip. Even my husband went along.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/orlando%20march02/wdw2002.jpg
We didn’t make it back until Feb 2006. My husband is not a Disney fan. And I got tired of waiting for him to go with us and planned a trip without him. When I asked my Dad if we could get the timeshare for that week, he was happy to join us. My step mom spent the weekend with us too. We spent one day in each park, my first time visiting AK and DHS/MGM, plus Disney Quest, Downtown Disney, and Sea World, and a couple of days of “rest” at the time share. A few days into the trip I promised to take the kids back in 2008 for another full week.
So we went back in Feb 2008 and had a wonderful trip. My Dad met the kids and I in Orlando and we stayed at the time share again. One day in each park, DQ, DTD, chef Mickey’s, Sea World, and Universal. But there was just not enough time to do everything. The link to that trip report is in my signature.
I came back not wanting to wait another two years. But I had promised Hannah and my Dad & step mom that we would visit them in Ft Lauderdale next year. We get a week off in Feb & a week in April. We would go to FtL in Feb and April break was Easter week this year. Then my DH announced he wanted to visit FtL in April not Feb, because the water would be warmer and he freedives. OK. Then maybe we could go to Orlando in Feb. I came up with three options to go back to Disney---
The kids and I in Feb for a week
Jacob and I in Sept or Oct for a few days
A solo trip in April or May for Flower & garden Fest.
I talked to the kids and Hannah announced she would rather go to NYC in Feb for her Birthday. She wanted to have a family party at the Afternoon Tea at American Girl place. We had been there in April 2007 and she loved it!
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/nyc%20april07/nyc005.jpg
She is ok with the fact that we are going without her. She does not like to stay out too late and is afraid on many rides. She gave us two rules. 1- We need to buy her some things and 2- We are not allowed to go to Chef Mickey’s
Jacob’s first choice was September, the minute he heard Halloween at Disney that was all he wanted to do!

This trip will be different because -----
I’ve wanted to stay on site since I was a kid, and I am finally going to!!!
We usually go in Feb so Sept will be hotter and probably rainier than we are used to.
We usually arrive at park opening, but instead we are going to stay up as late as we can!
We will do (at least) one early morning though…We have 8:05 ADRs for Crystal Palace!!!! This will be our first time at a park before opening and we are super excited.
We are going to try some rides we have not been on yet…some of the thrill rides!
I am going to try a Dole Whip this time!!!! (I have said that the last two trips)
We are going to try to take lots of photopass photos
We are only going to Disney – Not sure that I’ve been to Orlando without visiting Sea World before
We are going to MNSSHP, which I’ve wanted to take Jacob to for years.
We are going to decorate our window for Halloween
I am going to finish all my trip “projects” on time

Its funny to see how little the kids looked on that trip.
We want to stay at POP, its our first choice, but I'd also love to get a discount. I have been waiting to see if they announce discounts for that time period. They have something new on the Dis updates today, dicounts through 9/27, we are there 9/26-9/30, so I have to check that out. I plugged my dates in on the Disney site, and it looks like the price went down $50.
Trying to decide if I should wait til August to see if there are better discounts, or try AAA or a travel agent now. I have the Disney Visa so I can book the discount early if one comes out.

Kathleen,
Just jumped over from my PTR!! Your son will LOVE MNSSHP!!! Mac was 6 the first year we took him and we were afraid he would out grow it but he loves halloween just as much as the rest of us and prefers to go to MNSSHP than go trick or treating. This year we are going a little early so he may get to do both.
And might I add he is one of the most handsome boys I have ever seen??? Hannah is beautiful as well, I bet she just loved the AG cafe, how much fun. I am looking forward to getting to have a mother/daughter trip w/ Liliana...I have a few years. We have something special planned for our pre-trip trip, but I don't want to spoil it.;)
I can't wait to hear more of your plans!

I think Jacob chose Sept over Oct for Disney, so he could have the full month of Oct to decorate the house.
Last year he thought about staying home to give out candy and show off his decorations, but Hannah and I convinced him to go trick or treating with us. He had fun and some of the neighbors complimented his decorations.
He is so excited about this trip!!!

We had a very Disney day June 27th.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/disney%20clip%20art/kt_walle-2.jpg
The Wall E movie came out and the kids had been dying to see it.
We had plans the rest of the weekend, so we went Friday afternoon.
At the end of the movie Hannah turned to me and said "I loved it!" :lovestruc
Jacob loved it too. He is a big pixar fan.
They were giving out free watches to the kids at the theater.
Probably equivalent to a happy meal toy, but a nice surprise.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/wallewatches.jpg
When we got home we had mail with a return address of Lake Buena Vista.
I couldn't figure out what it was at first. :confused3
Then I realized it was my MNSSHP tickets a week earlier than expected!!!
:cheer2: :yay: :cheer2: :yay:
We are going twice!!! Friday night and Sunday night!
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/tickets.jpg
There was a second piece of Disney mail as well.
Jacob gets very excited whenever we get a package. Then he's disappointed because they are usually addressed to his Dad.
So I had Secretly ordered the Wall E movie rewards poster and had it addressed to him.
He was so surprised. Since Hannah loved Wall E as well, they put it near the computer they share.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/walleposter.jpg
I had also gotten them Wall E June pins from Disney shopping, which I gave them that day as well.

The poster and the pins are so cute!
I'm so jealous you're going twice! I have decided I really want to go to MNSSHP.
The more time I spend on here the more things I really want to see and do--
Flower and Garden Festival
Star Wars Weekend
Christmas lights and decorations and MVMCP
We've wanted to go to MNSSHP for a few years. Its tough to schedule this time of year because of school, its just so early in the school year to miss, they start after Labor Day. Jacob has the Tuesday we return off, and will miss two days (Friday and Monday). Seemed like a good year to do it, because his school team is "looping" so he should have most of the same teachers as last year. Also its his last year of middle school.
There was so much we missed at the one Pirate & Princess Party that we would have loved to go two nights, but there was only one party during our stay. :headache: (Because of the President's day holiday weekend).
We are so excited there will be two parties in the five days we are there! There is even another the day we leave, but we will be home by the time it starts.

Thank you Jacob!!!:lovestruc
Because I want to see lots of the little magical details that are easily overlooked. And because I love all the background stories I bought the Complete Walt Disney World 2008 a couple of weeks ago. Its really good, and after flipping through a bit, I started at the begining and have read the first half of the book. A couple of days ago I was showing some info in it to Jacob, and he borrowed it for a couple of days. He read the MK section and brought me a list of all the MK attractions broken down into 3 categories. "Have to", "Want to", and "Don't care". Then he went back and starred the best of each category.
The Have to list:
* Philharmagic
Peter Pan
* Small World
Winnie the Pooh
* Tea Party
Dumbo
* Jungle Cruise
* POTC
* Haunted Mansion
* Splash Mountain
* Big Thunder Mountain
* Buzz Lightyear
* Space Mountain
* Indy Speedway
He has a couple on the Want list that I will bump up
Monsters Inc & TTA
I laughed that he has Small world on the must must list, and Jacob says its not a trip to disney if you don't ride its a small world. Then he started singing.
I'm glad he likes Disney so much!!!

Plans and ADRs—
OK, I’ve been putting off posting ADR’s cause I had to call and make some changes. Finally made that call yesterday!!! Really threw the previous plan off though. I think this is plan #4 so far. Hannah had asked us not to go to Chef Mickey’s without her, and Jacob suddenly decided he couldn’t survive missing Chef Mickey’s. Do you think they had breakfast openings??? Of course not, dinner ??? NO, just lunch on ONE day, because its not well known.
I like to have a lot of possible plans instead of a rigid plan. See what we feel like doing at the time. The big problem with this trip is it will be too short. I think every trip is too short, but this one is only five days/ four nights. Since it’s our second trip of the year though, we don't feel like we need to do everything. And at any time we need to sleep in or leave early or take a pool break, we will.
Friday 9/26
We arrive around 1:30pm at MCO
We'll take Magical Express for the first time.
Check in at POP.
We are going to MNSSHP this night!
No park tickets, we will go to MK after 4pm with our party tickets.
We have ADRs at Liberty Tree Tavern so we can see the characters in their Halloween costumes! I made this ADR 178 days out, and asked for 6:15 pm, they only had 5:15 pm. I thought this must be so popular, until I read somewhere that they will not take ADRS on the party nights unless you tell them you have party tickets. Sure enough when I called yesterday they were completely booked before the party, but had plenty of later openings. I was able to change the time to 6:20pm, with warnings that I would not be allowed in without party tickets.
The Rest of the trip we plan to have four day park hoppers.
Saturday 9/27
The previous plan was to go to AK when we get up and make it there, and stay until we see what we want or it gets too hot.
This is the last day of the new Chef Mickey’s lunch. The only day of our trip with any openings.
I booked the latest available time, which was 2pm.
So, we will see what time we get up, and what we feel like doing.
AK, or DTD, or hang out at the pool.
Then Chef Mickey’s at 2pm. ::MickeyMo
Maybe before or after Chef Mickey’s, take a walk around the Polynesian.
At some point we will head over to the MK. Since I want to see SpectoMagic one night, we will do it this night. I know we can walk from the Contemporary to MK, but maybe we will take a boat ride. We won’t be in a rush.
Sunday 9/28
8:05 AM ADRs for Crystal Palace! pooh:
I am so excited to go to the park before it opens. I love seeing everyone's pictures from this time!
I was planning on spending a little time at MK, but since we will be there earlier than planned the previous day, we may just head out after breakfast, we’ll decide that morning.
Then we will head over to DHS.
We have a 1:30 ADR at SciFi drive in, Jacob is really looking forward to this.
We’ll hang out DHS until we’ve had enough or until 6pm.
This night we are going to a second MNSSHP. Jacob has decided to dress up as Indiana Jones one night, probably this one, then he will wear/bring his costume to DHS as well and get a picture taken with Indiana Jones after the stunt show. He has an IJ’s hat from our last trip.
Monday 9/29
Epcot for the day – no ADR’s because Food & Wine fest is going on. Jacob is hoping to try Escargo.
Not sure if we will stay till closing or do something else in the evening. Possibly back to DHS to see Fantasmic. Or to DTD, or just walk around the Beach Club & Board walk.
Tuesday 9/30
We fly out at 4:40 pm. Guessing we will need to leave at 1:40pm.
I had planned to leave the park choice open for this day, but also wanted to do a late character meal. I made an ADR for 1900 PF/Supercalifragilistic breakfast at 10:55am. Made this yesterday. It was the latest they had. I wasn’t happy with the time, but I took it and figured we’d decide later if we would do it. Well it just doesn’t give us much time before or after. After I made the 1900 PF ADR, I made the Chef Mickey’s lunch, and through off my AK day and lengthened my MK night. So after I got off the phone I looked over everything and came up with a new plan for the last day. I just called back and made an 8:10 ADR for Tusker House in AK, so we will be at AK for opening. If we miss AK Sat no big deal, and if we go Sat and decide we’ve had enough AK its early enough we can do something else.
When I called tonight to make the ADR, I went through all the buttons then went into hold. They were playing a song from Jungle Book. Well that song ended, and the song Supercalifragilistic came on. :scared1:
I had a moment of panic that I shouldn’t cancel, this was a sign to keep the ADR. Then I just decided it was too funny, and I started laughing and could not stop. :lmao:
Luckily I was on hold through the whole song, and most of the way through Cruella Deville before they picked up, and I was able to compose myself.
So, that's the current plan. And for the moment I am happy with the ADR’s

Jacob has been reading trip reports this week, and has added a few things to our trip list.
Lots of photopass pictures, which I want to do as well. :thumbsup2
We did not use this enough last trip, but I loved the pictures we did get, so I bought the disc anyway. This time I will preorder and search out the photographers.
And he saw tie dye Mickey shirts he wants to make! That was not on my list!!! I have never tie dyed anything. I'm a little scared.
Though a yellow mickey with orange and green swirls might look cool for MNSSHP. But I think Jacob is dressing up both nights.
And he thinks the gray goose slushie looks good.
He is 12.
I think it looks good too, but I am um "over 21".

Thanks! The tie dye sounds like an outdoor project. I need to make a trip to the craft store. I have a long list. Its probably a good thing that store is not closer.

I just went and checked it out. They look great. There were definately spots I didn't know about. I will print those out for the trip!!! The photos we did get last time, mostly characters stops came out great.

Jacob and I have been talking about costumes for the parties. I think we are both going to dress up both nights! He has made a list of costume ideas.
We then started talking about making tie dye shirts and buying or making disney shirts. He thinks the photos of families in their matching Disney clothes are great!
We ended up pulling out the schedule and coming up with a clothing plan for the trip.
We decided we are going to tie dye mickey head shirts in "earth" tone colors for our AK day, the last day. Brown mickey heads, with green base with some blue and some white. We'll make one for Hannah too.
I explained what an iron on is, and he is going to see what he can come up with in photoshop. So we may end up with shirts he designed one day!

What a sweet son. I love the Hidden Mickey in the hat.
You're going to have so much fun at the Halloween party! That is the weekend I had contemplated taking a long weekend trip with a friend of mine, but neither of us are sure we'll have the money. I'll have to wait to see how things are when we get into the school year, and she's got to see if her husband will contribute to the cause. We'll either do a long weekend then, or if not, we can hopefully do a spring break trip for a little longer. As much as I'd like her to see Disney at Halloween, and especially see the parade, I'd also like to stay longer, so both options have their pros and cons.
If we don't end up going, I will be devouring your pictures, knowing that I might have been right there in that same crowd. If we do go, we'd like to go to the Sunday night party, if it isn't sold out.

I'm going to agree with Jacob on this one! Last time we went, it was shut down for a little while and we figured we would return later if we had the time. But we never did. And I know most people don't like IASW unless they have young children, but it's been 5 months since my trip and I'm still feeling empty that I missed it! What's an MK trip without it?!?

We are so excited about the Halloween party. Jacob is spending as much time as I am planning this trip! It would be great if you made it down to Disney that weekend. There are just so many wonderful things going on at Disney throughout the year, its hard to choose when to take those trips.
I have two months until this trip and I want to plan another. I started this one thinking we wouldn't go in 2009, but I am already trying to figure out a way to go back. Its going to be difficult with time and money though.

It probably would seem like something was missing without riding IASW.
It was funny to see it on the top musts of a 12 yr old boy though.
I don't think Jacob would like it if he actually tried it.
Its probably way too strong for me too.
It does look good though, and I hear a lot about it.
I am more of a dessert person. My one must try for this trip is some version of that Dole Whip!!!
I love Pineapple and I've never had one.

I am really excited about our CP adr. :yay:
Partly because its one of my favorites and partly because it will be our first time in the park before opening. We have had dinner here twice, but this will be our first breakfast.
Found our old photos from the kids first trip to MK. Predigital, so they are scanned in. We had dinner at CP. This is 2002, Jacob is 6 and Hannah is 4. I love that Jacob has his arm around everyone's arms and is holding on to them. They had just briefly met Mickey & Minnie from behind a rope, but other than that, this was there first character meet.

Next trip was 2006. Jacob is 10 and Hannah is 8. Back to CP for dinner. This was the first full day/ first park of our trip, and our first day collecting autographs. Hannah had brought a homemade autograph book, and Jacob had bought an autograph book that morning, and they both bought Disney pens.

OK I booked the room at Pop this morning!
Hearing rumors that ticket prices are going up this weekend,
so I wanted to buy those, and I went ahead and booked the room.
$69/nt AAA rate.
If they have some amazing discout later this month I don't want to know about it. :rolleyes1
Actually I booked at home this morning, then went to work, checked my e-mail, and found a pin code that had been emailed to me last night at 10pm. :headache:
But it appeared to be the same as the rate I got anyway. :sad2:
Then this afternoon I realized I did not book Magical Express, so now I have to call back and do that. :sad2:
I also bought tickets today for Disney on Ice!!!!
Worlds of Fantasy with Tinkerbell, Little Mermaid, Cars, and Lion King.
:cheer2: :cheer2:
Its the weekend Before our Disney trip!
Hannah takes ice skating so she is really excited to see it!!!
Instead of thinking about my credit card bill, I will think about all the Disney Visa rewards points I am earning.

Hooray for booking Pop! Any day you book a Disney trip is a good day!
We're going to the same Disney on Ice show, but we're going in Nashville in September. I'm definitely looking forward to it, since my next trip isn't until Thanksgiving.
I've been re-doing my bedroom and I just bought a new refrigerator, so lately I have been earning a few rewards points, too. Knowing you're getting a few Disney dollars takes the sting out of the purchases....a little.
Cute pictures of the kids at Crystal Palace. Thanks for sharing those. I'm glad we're getting in LTT before the characters leave, too. We'll be there the day before Thanksgiving.

Jacob is so excited to stay at Pop. He loves all the theming. I showed him your photos Thursday night before he went to orchestra. When I picked him up, he said he thought of nothing but Pop and Disney the whole time he was there. :rotfl:
We managed to miss the last few Disney on Ice shows. The last show was HSM and it was 7:30 on a school night, about 30min from my house. :sad1:
My kids have loved the ones we have seen though. I still remember attending special events like that as a kid, so I want them to have the same great memories.
I mainly use the Disney card, and I do convert every purchase over to Disney Dollars in my head. I was very lucky early this year to receive three months of bonus points!!! I used them for part of the party tickets. Whatever we earn between now & Sept will go to a meal or souveneirs.
LTT will be great the day before Thanksgiving! We had a great time with the characters when we were there. We met everyone twice!

That was the AAA rate. I haven't needed emergency road service in a while, I think 3 years ago, Hannah locked my keys in the car, in our driveway, DH was out of town with one spare, and I could not find another. I've gotten some discounts which make the membership worthwhile.
Thanks for the compliments on the kids & photos. I tell Hannah she's beautiful all the time. Last week she said I know. :lmao:
I checked this morning and I don't see the ticket increase yet. I kept putting it off, because I keep hoping we can go back next year, which would make APs a good deal. But I just don't know that we'll have the time or money. :sad2: I'll keep hoping, I can always upgrade them during the trip.
Good Luck on the discount. I think last year one came out Mid August. I had been going to wait for that, but its getting so close, and I was happy with the price.

I intended to post decoration and costume pictures on here, but have not gotten around to finding them all. I will just see what's on my computer, then add more later.
What a great way to spend your son's birthday!!! I would love to spend mine at Disney, in 2011 my birthday will be during school vacation, so maybe we will go then. Jacob loves decorating for Halloween. He has since he was very young. Years ago, my stepmother came to visit us in October. She brought a craft project to make ghosts with the kids. We still have those ghosts, and it started a tradition. Every October she schedules a special trip to visit us. She brings a few new decorations each year. Some years more than a few.
Some of Jacob’s decorations:
This is his “Spooky Tree”
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/Halloween%20photos/2007%20hwn/07jhalloween11.jpg
He made the two gravestones himself. I think he used Styrofoam.

We have an enclosed breezeway between our house and garage, which he completely covers in Halloween decorations.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/Halloween%20photos/2007%20hwn/07hwnspiderwall.jpg
We have a bit of a spider problem.
Jacob took a lot more photos this year, but I have to find the disc they are on. I know he took individual photos of many of his creations. He makes a lot of his own decorations. Plus I know he had one of his light up eyes. But maybe I’m thinking of the previous year.
My favorite Halloween decorations are the Jack-O-Lanterns. I started carving them in 2000, and I really enjoy this.

I enjoy hearing about your future kids. They are going to have adorable outfits, great vacations, and tons of pictures!!! You'll make a great parent when the time comes.
 I hope my future kids think I'm a great mom when the time comes! I know for sure there will be plenty of pictures! My parents took a TON of photos of my older brother (he's 2 years older). They would video him just in his carseat sitting there doing nothing. Then when I came along ... haha ... I guess they got bored of it. On the family video, I'm a baby-baby in my crib (but my brother's standing next to it so it's focused on him) and then there's a decent segment with me on my stomach on a table cracking up hysterically everytime my dad made a sound (very daddy's little girl) and then suddenly ... I'm 7 and riding my bike in the Poconos. Haha. So I will definitely be sure to capture every little moment of my kids! That's why I get so excited to see all of your pictures, to see Jacob and Hannah willing to take pictures and have all these memories preserved!
Great decorations! I like the pumpkin you carved on the lower step at the front entry. Haha, it looks so mischievous with those eyebrows!
Of course, Jacob's pumpkin is awesome as well! That kid's got more talent in his little pinky than most of us have in our entire body!
And Hannah looks so content with her candy! Is that a little white rabbit on the table that she pulled out of her magician's hat?

We will have Halloween decorating progress reports between updates! :rotfl:
Jacob likes to have those decorations up as long as possible, too.
What a great way to spend your son's birthday!!! I would love to spend mine at Disney, in 2011 my birthday will be during school vacation, so maybe we will go then. I would also love to go and see the Christmas decorations some year. I went once in December as a kid, but I only remember a little. Of course MK was the only park back then, and we stayed off site.
Jacob, your Halloween decorations are great! You are going to have so much fun seeing the Boo to You Parade and all of the many decorations and costumes.
Jill and I have a wish to spend every special event and holiday, or at least very close to the actual holiday, that Disney World offers.
So far, we've done:
Spring Break, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Flower and Garden Festival
Fourth of July, Star Wars
Jill's birthday, MNSSHP, Food and Wine Festival
Thanksgiving
Christmas, Candlelight Processional, Osborne Lights
my birthday (not a well-known event, but cool to be in WDW on a birthday)
We've still got a long list of things to do, but it's the best kind of to-do list.

And great job on all the Halloween decorations! I think you will love MNSSHP for sure! I think it is great that it is just the two of you. I really love doing special things one on one with my kids.
I love Pop, such a fun hotel! And yes try the Dole Whip! I find them so refreshing and yummy!

They're happy to have their pictures taken, usually. After a certain number they get that enough already look though.
I can't draw at all, but I carve pumpkins and decorate the kids birthday cakes, that's my only form of art. Jacob is an amazing artist. When he was 3 he could draw better than me.
Yes!! That is a little rabbit, she pulled him out of her hat, and he went trick or treating with her.

Disney makes everything so special, I am starting to come up with a long list too. Without intending too. Flower and Garden Festival is high on my list. Jacob and I would love to attend Star Wars weekends, they get out of school so late in June though! But the end of June is close to the 4th of July, so that could be two in one trip.

They have such different likes and abilities that it makes it easier sometimes to focus on one at a time. And they love it. Hannah is starting to ask about "her trip" to NYC, so I have to think about that soon.

We are really excited about the Halloween party as well.
I have heard comments about parties where lots of people were dressed up and comments that people were not. When we received our tickets, it said children are welcome to dress up. :confused3
We saw plenty of adults in pirate & princess costumes at the pirate and princess party we attended.
Jacob wants me to dress up too so I will. I haven't dressed up since I was a teen. I don't have a costume, yet. The Halloween stuff comes out earlier every year, so it shouldn't be long. We have a list of costume ideas, but I think availability will be a big deciding factor.

Joe, my husband, doesn't make it into a my tr/ptr very often, since he has not been to Disney the last two trips. He likes to be in the water, his sports are spearfishing and underwater hockey. Yep there is a sport called underwater hockey. Not well known in the US but more popular elsewhere. Its played at the bottom of a pool, with a special puck and very short plastic sticks. This summer he competed in the US Nationals for both sports.
The US Spearfishing Nationals was here in RI this year. (Last week).
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/summer%202008/spfnat02.jpg
The kids and I drove over to King's Beach, Newport to see the results. Got a nice pic of Joe and the kids out on the rocks.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/summer%202008/spfnat01.jpg
Travel during the competition is by kayak. The beach was full of kayaks, and I really wanted to take a picture, but my camera was missing. Wonder who had my camera.:rolleyes1
Jacob had it.

Joe placed 30 out of 61, and his team placed 10 out of 19. He enjoyed the experience, but it was a huge time committment. Next year's competition is in CA, and he is not going to try out. The competition location varies, locations include CA, HI, FL, RI, and Missouri (in a lake). He would like to do it again if he can the year its held in Missouri, and possibly again in RI.
He intends to continue competing with underwater hockey.
The next night we went to the awards banquet. It was fun, but ran very late!!! Dinner was served at 10pm!!! Late for us at least!
There were competitors from RI, Mass, CT, New York, Florida, Calif, Hawaii, and the Mid-west Dive club. The winners were from (team) Palm Beach, Florida, (men's indiv) Mass, and (women's indiv) Hawaii.

I do have Jacob to go along with all my trip planning. He wants to know our schedule and ADRs and would like to visit many many more times at all different times of year. I show him photos and he gets excited. He wants to tie dye mickey shirts, and make iron ons for matching shirts, and he's creating tip envelopes.
Funny thing is Hannah is always watching the movies and TV shows. She has lots of Princess stuff in her room, though lately Hannah Montana has been taking over. She just doesn't like to travel that much. She would like to go to Disney every other year and she insists she only likes MK & AK. And there are a lot of rides she won't go on.
Your pictures are beautiful. Is Jacob interested in pursuing the underwater hockey or the spearfishing?
Thanks! He has gone to underwater hockey a few times, usually when we know there will be someone else his age. Hannah even tried it once.
They haven't tried the spearfishing yet, though they've talked about it a little. There is a Jr. contest here every year, but that hasn't worked out timewise.

Something other than just reading it that is. :rotfl:
Disney shopping sent out an email for a sneak peek at the Halloween shop. Looked at the costumes, but only kids ones so far.
Still undecided what I will be. I figure if I wait a bit the Halloween stuff will be in the stores soon.
I have not dressed up for Halloween in many many years.
Jacob is certain he will be Indiana Jones one night, and it looks like he is going to be a skeleton pirate the other night. IJ should be easy, just shopping really. The skeleton is going to take some work.
Well I thought I would get some time to post more today, but my "free time" has been one interuption after another. Now Jacob wants to leave for his Basketball game a half hour early.

The catch phrase for underwater hockey is "Underwater what?"
It is on t-shirts, websites, and often heard in interviews.
Hannah once got into an argument with the boy across the street, because he refused to believe the game existed.
There are some videos and newsclips on the web & youtube.

So today I was looking for a photo and instead I found the pressed pennies from our last trip to Disney!!!
I wanted to use the older copper pennies last trip, but forgot the year they switched (1982), and was basically just using what I had with me at the time.
I decided to try a pressed penny cleaning tip! :rotfl:
Scrub them with ketchup and they clean up. Then shine them with a paste of baking soda and water. It worked pretty good on the pre 1982 copper pennies but on the post 1982 the ketchup turned the penny dark. :scared1: I got them back to normal by rubbing them with a pencil eraser. Problem is I can't see the year any more to tell which is which.

Lumiere & Cogsworth, Chip & Mrs. Potts, Epcot flags, and Randall all cleaned up nicely. The Belle & beast, Epcot globe, and Boo did NOT! The rest I havent' done.
So this trip I am going to be more organized! I have been saving quarters since we got back. I am putting together an m&m tube with a stack of quarter, quarter, penny. (Thanks Rachel Ninja for the awesome m&m tube idea!!!)
I went through all the pennies in our house and picked out a bunch of nice looking pre-1982 pennies. I shined a dozen so far, so I still have a lot to do.
I am glad Hannah and Joe were not home to see me scrubbing pennies with ketchup and an old toothbrush. :lmao:
Jacob said cool! Did you learn that on the internet?
We have an orange m&m tube since it is the Halloween trip.
Jacob needs to come up with something to decorate the tube now!

Hi Kathleen,
We have lots of the pressed pennies as well - DS is quite obsessed with them. We'll need to start another collection this trip as well!
Funny story with the cleaning - will need to try that! ;)

The kids get so excited when they see the penny machines!
Hoping to get a lot more this time.
We are going to buy a Disney book for just the Disney pennies.
The two (non Disney) books we have are almost full! We collect them everywhere we see them.

We have 2 full penny books - when we've been before everytime DS and DD saw a penny machine they were straight over! They were determined to get every penny WDW, US and IOA could make! :rolleyes1
Though DH just told me he tried cleaning them with HP (brown) sauce! :lmao: It didn't work too well!

OH NO!!!!
Here is the link to the site I got the tip from.
http://www.pennycollector.com/tips_clean.html
They have a whole list of cleaning methods. :lmao:
I just happened to have ketchup in the house.
I found the ketchup worked great on the copper pennies, but not on the zinc pennies. Its hard to tell the difference after they are pressed though, since you can't see the year.
The "serious" collectors use the copper pennies. I love using the shiny new ones, but here is the list of reasons not too---
http://www.pennycollector.com/tips_collecting.html
So I am thinking of "listening" and using the copper ones. But maybe we will do some of each. The shiny new ones are hard to resist.

I've been doing some shopping for the trip.
I am planning on leaving Hannah some surprises every day we are gone. That way she won't miss us. (And she'll be happy to send us on a trip without her anytime we want!)
So we ordered a few things from Disney shopping.
Jacob picked out a WallE polo for the trip. So I got Hannah a WallE & Eve shirt.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/walleshirts.jpg
From an earlier order- a fairies shirt for Hannah:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/fairyshirt.jpg
New bathing suit for Jacob, but it might be too big.
We may have to save this for a future trip!
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/mickeyswimtrunks.jpg
We were near an AC Moore last week, so we stopped in for a few things.
We got shirts for tie dye and iron on for Jacob, and we'll make them for Hannah too. I am going to order something online for myself. Double shirts for tie dye in case we need to try again. :rolleyes1
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/blankshirts.jpg
Jacob and I were discussing which day we would wear iron on shirts vs. the Wall E shirt he would wear. I slipped and said Chef Mickey's day, Hannah heard and she pouted. Then she asked if we would make her a tie dye shirt too. Jacob slipped and said she was getting a present everyday. Oops. He didn't know that was a surprise. No one can keep a secret in this house. :sad2:
So now Hannah can't wait for us to leave. :lmao:
We got Jacob a black t-shirt for the Pirate skeleton costume. We still need shorts or pants. He chose fluorescent green paint to make the bones. They didn't have any glow in the dark topcoat, and I only have one tube left. May need to find more.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/skeletonshirt.jpg
This is his model, and why he chose green bones.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/skelo.gif
The main reason I wanted to go to the craft store was for this:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/holepunch.jpg
I was looking for a smaller one, for some window decoration stuff we were thinking about, but I'm sure I can come up with plenty of uses for this!!!

I have never tie dyed before. So it should be interesting.
He will draw it, because he is the artist. By the time he was 3, he could draw better than me.
Not sure what we will do with the mickey cut outs. Our original idea was to use a bunch of orange ones to make a "pixillated" Mickey pumpkin. These are a bit bigger than I planned to get, so we'll see if that works. We'll use them for some kind of design for our window!

Your pre-trip report is great.
We love squished pennies too. I have several books from past trips and several other pressed penny books from other vacations. I have a special pocket in my purse that always has quarters and shiny pennies because one never knows when one is going to stumble across a penny machine.
My sister only uses pre-1982 pennies. I prefer the shiny new pennies. I figured all the pennies are going to tarnish eventually anyway. My sister uses the vinegar method to shine her pennies before her trips.
I do love the M&M containers for the quarters & pennies, one of the best tips I have learned from the disboards.
I am taking a hardcore approach to squished pennies this trip. I printed the checklist off of the internet and went through and marked off all the pennies I already have. I then made up index cards for each park on the pennies that I still need. In the past I have just got whatever penny design I liked (which resulted in several duplicates by accident). This time, I am going for whatever one I don't have in order to get a complete set from each park. I don't do the squished quarters, too expensive and they don't always squish flat.
Anyway, great trip report and I am off to read your son's report. ~Jenny

Whoops! I didn't know you updated your PTR because I was only looking at the title. Now I'll know to check :)
I was reading a trip report, when Hannah told me I like Disney too much. :scared1:
So, I told her she didn't like Disney enough. :headache:
She said she likes Disney like a "normal" person. :lmao:
I think she was not happy that I was on "MY" computer. She wanted to use it.
This exchange was hilarious to me! My mom thinks that because Weird and I like Disney so much, it's just a sign that we're still young (we're in our early 20s). I somehow can't convince her that Disney is for all ages! I mean, the majority of people on DIS writing TRs are adults, even those without kids! Haha, it's cute that Hannah thinks there's such a thing as liking Disney too much, as if that's possible~ ;) It's like the reverse of my mom because she still somehow believes Disney is more for kids!
So this trip I am going to be more organized! I have been saving quarters since we got back. I am putting together an m&m tube with a stack of quarter, quarter, penny. (Thanks Rachel Ninja for the awesome m&m tube idea!!!)

Jacob said cool! Did you learn that on the internet?
YW for the tip! Of course, I just learned it from someone else on DIS too! I love that tips and advice that seem so "common" are still new at the same time. It's like, you can never know it all!
The night before I left for WDW, I poured out all my pennies to search for the pre-1982 because that's what Weird told me to do. But I only found a few before I decided it was time to go to bed. I kind of just grabbed the shiny new ones because I didn't expect them to be bad, but I wish I had been better at following Weird's advice! I'm going to have to go through those cleaning methods to shine them up again.
Haha, Jacob's reaction is the best :thumbsup2
So I got Hannah a WallE & Eve shirt.

That Wall-E and Eve shirt is the best! I would definitely buy that if they had it in an adult size!
And I've always seen that hole punch and other Disney things at the craft store, but didn't think it would be "worth" investing in it. I use more stamps and stuff and try to go for more "general" things because not everyone likes Disney the way I do. But I always go to look at it everytime I go back ... haha. I think I'm going to give in to that hole punch though! Haha, it'll definitely make ME happy!

I try to think of things to do that Hannah or Joe would like for a future trip. But I don't know if it will change the way they feel. It was neat to see my Dad's feelings change. He really enjoyed Disney with the Grandkids. Though he was always really good about taking us to Disney & other fun places.
I want Hannah to sound happy on the phone when I talk to her. Not sad telling me she misses me. She is also looking forward to some time with Dad. He will take her to ice skating which he rarely does, so I'm sure that will be a treat for both of them.
I've done some neat crafts with other hole punches so I thought it would be cool. I enjoyed testing it on the scrap paper.

How are the costumes coming?
From 1962-1982 pennies were 95% copper and 5% zinc
In 1982 they switched to 99.2% zinc and 0.8% copper with an outer coating of copper.
so when you press a new penny sometimes you can see silver colored streaks. (I'll try to come back and post a picture. - since I have some of these). This is the zinc, and a lot of people don't like it.
This is pretty much from the pennycollector tips section.
pennycollector (http://www.pennycollector.com/tips_collecting.html)
They have a list of cleaning tips too:
http://www.pennycollector.com/tips_clean.html
The ketchup worked great on the copper (pre1982 pennies) but it made the zinc pennies look worse!!! They looked tarnished.
It cleans them, then you still need to "shine" them, I used a baking soda and water paste.
If you want to try out a cleaning technique, I would test it out on a regular penny not a pressed one.

I ordered plain shirts for myself from jiffyshirts to tie dye and use for iron ons, and they arrived today!!!
Jacob chose tie dye colors and ordered supplies.
They are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday.
There was a long list of colors and I couldn't see them on the same page, and couldn't tell if they would go together.
I tried copy and paste into word to see them next to each other and it wouldn't work.
So Jacob did some fancy stuff and pulled the page views into photoshop and used the eyedropper to put our colors in a sample design.
Here are Deep Yellow, Avocado, Peacock Blue, and Safari Gray.
The shirt will be for Animal Kingdom, so that's why he chose those colors.

I think these colors look great together, and perfect for AK. How creative of your DS to get them all together! I am so anxious to see how the tie dye turns out! I did it once in grade school and it was pretty easy.
Oh, also... I collected some pre 82 pennies today and they were all brown. I tried the ketsup thing but it didn't seem to work for me. I ended up soaking them in vinegar. As soon as I put them in the vinegar, they started to get clean! It was so cool. I barely had to scrub them. I recommend this method too! Here are before and after pics...

I can't wait to hear more about your trip!! :thumbsup2
Thanks!
We are so excited about the party! I saw photos of the Halloween decorations which are already up in the MK!!!!
That's a great idea for displaying the pennies!
I love seeing everyones creative displays of their different collections!
Those shirts will turn out fabulous!
Thanks for explaining the penny situation. Dh manages a restaurant so he can be on the lookout for pre 1982 pennies! I just thought we would get the year we went even though they would be squished. I'm so glad I caught that because I would have been disappointed with streaky pennies!!! :lmao:
Here are some "streaky" pennies. The manatee one has a lot of zinc showing but the Boston one barely has any. :confused3
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/pennies02.jpg
We have 85 pennies from different places, and a lot of them have streaks. (some are duplicates).
My husband "saves" all his change. He says he's saving it, but really he's too lazy to do anything with it. It comes in handy when the kids need 50 cents for popcorn day at school. And for finding old pennies. :cool1:
Every so often I deal with it, I haven't done it in a few years. Guess I am lazy too. :rolleyes1 But I recently learned coinstar is free if you get a gift card instead of cash. So I don't have to roll them and I can spend them at Disney shopping or Amazon.
Here are before and after pics...

http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa243/becnelsu/pennys010.jpg
They came out great!
What a difference! I think I will definately try the vinegar. The ketchup was a lot of work.
Glad to hear tie dye was easy. My kids have done it at half day nature camps. We have to decide if we want a spiral pattern or for the colors to go out in layers around the mickey head shape.

I am excited to see all the party decorations!!!
In the meantime here are some jack-o-lantern photos....
For a while there was a Jack-O-Lantern spectacular held at the Roger Williams Park Zoo. At some point the zoo stopped holding it and they moved it to McCoy stadium, home of the Pawtucket Red Sox. We attended at the zoo in 2004 and at McCoy in 2006.
At the zoo, the Jack-O-Lanterns were set up on a system of trails in their own area. They were open after hours only, with separate admission. We waited over 90 minutes to see them, but once we got in it was worth it. Actually it wasn't too bad, the weather was very nice and there was a huge TV screen playing a post season baseball game between the Red Sox and the Yankees.
Now, those might be lights hanging in the tree :confused3 , but the rest are actual pumpkins. They are amazing!!! A combination of scraping areas so thin light shines through and paint. They had all different areas set up with different themes, different music, and fog. My husband took these pictures with whatever camera we had back in 2004:confused: .

Those are fantastic!!!!
Last year was the first time we did a pumpkin for the house - good fun! In the UK we do Halloween but tend not to do all the decorations, though it is becoming more common - nothing like that though! :worship:
In Scotland the kids traditionally go out 'guising', but it's becoming more common to hear them say 'trick or treat'! :rolleyes1

I've never seen anything so incredible. How talented those pumpkin artists must be. Thats insane, and I mean the good kind of insane!
WOW! I bet Jacob was just going nuts over those. My kids were freaking out asking if we get to go. :lmao:

The first time I carved a pumpkin I was amazed at how much I liked it. There are so many unending tasks :laundy: that sometimes to see a finished product that is really fun is such a good feeling.
I don't remember anyone decorating as a kid, but the last ten years It is more common, at least in the neighborhoods we have lived in.
But then I have a neighbor with light up flashing St. Patricks day decorations. And anotherr neighbor who has so many Christmas decorations we refer to his house as "candy cane lane". He also has lots of Halloween decorations. Including huge inflatables for both holidays. Once he dressed as santa for Halloween. :lmao:
I've never heard of "guising". Is it basically the same concept or different? I'd love to hear about Halloween in other places.
Thanks for the penny example. Dh thought I was crazy when we have a perfectly good shiny penny roll waiting to go with us. Now he sees the light.....:lmao:

Yesterday Jacob asked if we could make muffins. When I pulled out the collection of muffin papers I found a package with pooh, tigger, and piglet on them. I didn't even remeber buying it till I saw it. I joked that we could pretend to have breakfast at CP.
This morning Jacob made a big breakfast for himself and his sister. He is good to her. He pretended it was CP. He made scrambled eggs, sausage, toaster waffles, and served grapes. His eggs were delicious.
We had a talk about costumes this morning. I still don't know what I will choose. Some of it will be based on availability and price.
Yesterday the Halloween edition of the oriental trading catalog came in the mail. Jacob has been anxiously checking the mailbox for its arrival, so he was really excited. Jacob's birthday is November 21st, and one year I asked him what theme he wanted for his birthday party and he said Halloween. I told him no, Halloween was over. Next year, same conversation. The following year, I asked if he would like to have a Halloween party in October instead of having a birthday party with his friends. He could still have a family party on his birthday.
He loved the idea. :yay:
And it works out well for me, because I don't have two parties within a week of each other. And he receives less gifts, (we have too many toys!!!)
He has had Halloween parties the last three years.
This year he said he just wanted to do something with a few friends near his birthday.
But one look at the catalog and he changed his mind. :lmao:
He already has "new" decorations and favors picked out, and a guest list. He was looking for crafts and "halloween food" online today.
He really liked these cupcakes that he found of photo of:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/Halloween%20photos/witchcupcake.jpg
Tonight Hannah and I watched Ariel's begining. It was cute, and it was nice to spend some girl time together. Hannah loved the movie. She also decided her first choice for a Halloween costume is Hannah Montana. The kids start school Tuesday and Hannah has her summer assignments done, her backpack ready, and her clothes picked out. I gave her a set of Hannah Montana erasers and she was very excited. She told me how cute she thought the cupcake papers were, and she had out her Disney charm bracelet asking if I would get her more charms. She has Marie (Aristocats), Dumbo, and Tinkerbell.
Yes, this is the same child that said I like Disney too much. :lmao:

I would love to go back to the Jack-o-lantern spectacular this year, but I looked it up today, and the spectacular is moving to the Maritime Aquarium in Nowalk, CT this year. That’s a two and a half hour trip for me.
They are selling timed tickets in advance only. And it is only running a week and a half.
So we will have to see what happens. Maybe we will go the day after Halloween. :confused3
Here is the info if anyone is interested:

More photos from the 2006 Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, at McCoy stadium. I will have to break it into multiple parts, cause I have a lot of photos.
In 2006, it was just the kids and I. My camera wasn’t working very well, so I borrowed Joe’s camera since it was better than mine, and Jacob used my camera. Three weeks later I ended up buying a new camera. I wasn’t familiar with the settings on Joe’s, and it was on a very high quality setting, so I filled the memory card quickly. I had to delete some blurry photos, and turn down the quality to take more. He could not believe it was possible to fill the memory with jack-o-lantern photos. :lmao:
It was freezing cold!!!! We were wearing hats and gloves and some of us had on winter coats. I was taking pictures at night, mainly without a flash, while wearing gloves, and feeling numb from cold. So we got some great photos and a lot of blurry photos.
We entered the stadium hallway where they had this display. Jacob took a picture of his favorite team.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/Halloween%20photos/2006%20spectacular/06jolspect01.jpg
On the other side they had a different display, Hannah asked me to take this picture of her favorite team.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/Halloween%20photos/2006%20spectacular/06jolspect02.jpg
We were able to head into the stands for a sneak peak at the field.
Sorry they all came out blurry.
But it gives you an idea of the number of pumpkins.
A whole ball park full.
The field was covered in jack-o-lanterns.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/Halloween%20photos/2006%20spectacular/06jolspect03.jpg
We were able to walk around the edge of the field, there were art carved pumpkins along the edge as well as in the dugouts. The displays were amazing and we stayed quite a long time, despite the cold.

That was even his Halloween costume one year.

I have been wondering if there would be Halloween balloons!
Maybe we will need to get one of those our first night! We will at least take photos of them.
Have a great bbq, and enjoy your family time.

Good luck to the kiddos in school.
I wish I could too.

Wow, those are great too! Love the unicorn and Bambi pumpkins!

I've never heard of "guising". Is it basically the same concept or different? I'd love to hear about Halloween in other places.
Yeah, pretty much the same - the kids dress up and go round the houses, saying rhymes/singing/poems etc and get sweeties. You always used to get loads of monkey nuts but not so much now - allergies! The ryhme most kids used to say when I was small was "The sky is blue, the grass is green, please may I have my Halloween". It must have got very repetitive for the adults! ;)
Cool muffins! :thumbsup2 Very artistic!

I've never been a fan of Halloween, but Jacob's enthusiasm is getting to me! Loved those Disney pumpkins!
And I was going to say that Jacob's going to make a great husband and father one day. Then I was thinking about why it always has to be something in the future. Because it's important that right now, he is a great brother and son!
Hope you guys have a great first week of school! Haha, I think I should buy some Disney school supplies to make my first week better too!

I wish I could take them on the plane home. I don't think putting them in the suitcase would work well.

I enjoy Halloween more as a parent, especially since Jacob loves it.
That's funny because last night the kids were talking about when they could drive, etc... Because they are going into new grades. Its amazing how fast they have grown. Jacob is almost as tall as me, only a few more inches. I have learned to enjoy each age, because they change so quickly.

Jacob was not very excited about the first day of school, he said it was just like another day of seventh grade. He has all the same teachers as last year, except for one. Which is great because he really liked his teachers last semester. Though I bet he would love to be in Irky or RachelNinja's class so he could talk about Disney. He already had homework! He was placed in honors Algebra. :thumbsup2 And he has art this semester, which I prefer, because art club is next semester.

Hannah was super excited about the first day of school!
She doesn't leave till an hour after Jacob.
:jumping1: :jumping1:
I told her she would be getting a surprise phone call at 7:30am. She was going crazy watching the clock. I had scheduled a Hannah Montana wake up call. She was stunned speechless, something that never happens.

Most of her friends are in her class, her best friend and her have been together since Kindergarten. She was also really excited to be in the highest grade in the school!

Thanks for your comments about Jacob. His teachers always have good things to say about him. His math teacher came up to us at a concert last spring to say how nice he looked (they wear tux shirts w/cumberbunds), and to comment on what a great kid he was. Its always nice to hear.

I am getting some stuff together, but not enough!
I really wanted to pull out at least one suitcase this morning.
It was so hard not to, but too much else going on right now.
We went shopping yesterday, so we picked up a few things.
I will try to post pictures later.
We got a shirt for Jacob to wear as Indiana Jones, and found a toy whip and satchel for the costume.
So that one is all set!!!
Got pants for the skeleton/pirate costume, so just need to paint it. And accessorize.
That's on next week's list. And he got a sword he liked. Had been going to wait & get one at POTC shop.
Could not find a hat he liked, so will keep looking, maybe get that at POTC shop. If not he has a pirate bandana.
Did not find any costumes for myself. :headache:
Will keep looking.
But I did buy myself a new Disney shirt.
And I got another little surprise for Hannah. :cutie:
I got my Magical Express envelope yesterday!!! :yay:
Not sure if I will check anything through ME, but we will take the bus to Pop at least.
We arrive on a Friday, and are going to the Halloween party that night. So anything we need for the party we need to carry on OR pick up at baggage (not send through ME). So I need to figure out what I can/cannot carry on. I am thinking I will just take two suitcases, one small, one large, for both of us to share.
Does anyone know if glow sticks can go in carry on??? :confused3
Or are they considered a liquid/gel ?
We also have green face makeup, but we purchased a solid type, so I think that is OK.
Think a toy sword would cause problems.
Its plastic, so it shouldn't even show up right?
My two main goals for this week are:
Start the tie dye shirts - get the Mickey head shape sewn on
Find/Order at least one costume for myself
I picked up three pumpkins at the grocery store today.
It was a nice surprise for Jacob when he got home from school today!!! :yay:
He is thrilled.

Yay for getting ME stuff! It's starting to get close!
I have put glow sticks in my carry on before and not had a problem at the Pittsburgh or Orlando airports. I can't say how strict other airports are about it, but I don't think there's enough liquid in them to show up on the scanner. I asked the same question a while ago and got answers form people here that they haven't had problems with glow sticks either.
I do think you might have a problem with the sword, though. I don't know for sure, but I'm just thinking about it from a school perspective - I know I just had the conversation with my students about kids getting suspended or expelled for bringing in fake plastic guns/swords/knives for any reason. :confused3 The airlines might have something on the web about it? I'm curious now.
I can't wait to see all your projects once they're done!

Good to know about the glowsticks, we will put one nights supply in the carry on!!! I didn't think to check the websites, I just now went to tsa.gov no mention of glow sticks specifically and they said "Toy Weapons - if not realistic replicas" yes for carry on and yes for checked. I was wondering because a passenger on our flight out of heathrow last year kept getting paged. Turned out it was a teenager with a replica musket in his checked luggage, and they needed him and a parent to open the luggage and show what it was. One reason it would have been easier to buy at MK, the other that we need to enter the park with it.
I worry about problems with whats allowed in carry on and about delays/losing checked luggage. I think I will make the ME decision the night before when I am packed.

We went shopping yesterday!!! We went to the mall, including a stop at the Disney store.
The kids went crazy in there. They wanted everything. :rolleyes1
Jacob loved the stuffed animals. :lmao:
He wanted to jump right into the big display of them.
He was having a great time.
He was playing with the Giant Nemo, Stitch, and Sully.
Hannah ended up getting some Hannah Montana items-- hat, book, CD.
But she did consider some princess items.
She also convinced me to replace our 12 yr old Aristocats VHS with a new DVD.
Jacob found a halloween stitch he had to have.
I was looking for a shirt for Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's. I ended up getting this one for CP.

I also got another surprise gift for Hannah. She has been saying how much she likes Pluto, he was fun to meet. So I got her a little Pluto, while Jacob kept her distracted. And a set of Aristocats stickers too.
Here are Stitch & Pluto. Those two look like they could get into some trouble. Stitch will be joining us on our trip, and Pluto will be keeping Hannah company at home.

It would make me feel better just to have everything "together" in one place. I have some stuff in a box. I don't know why I'm worried I will forget things. I have a packing spreadsheet in excel. I had a dream I forgot my party tickets.
I don't think our schedules matched up. I think there was a few "might" be in the same parks. I need to go back and look at everyone's schedules so I know who to look out for when. Of course we have never kept to our preplanned schedule yet. But with the party tickets and more ADR's than usual we will have to stick with a bit of it.

Aristocats is an old favorite of ours. Jacob loved it when he was little.
I think its Joe's favorite too.
Jacob was so excited to see the pumpkins!!!
We also have some gourds growing out of our compost bins!!!
One plant looks to have a lot of small orange/green gourds. They look a lot like pumpkins, we may actually carve some of them. The other started later, it has some yellow swan neck gourds.

I don't know what I was thinking, but I washed the new pants for Jacob's skeleton costume, and they shrunk! A lot!!!
He wore them this morning. I don't know why he was wearing them. :sad2:
He's supposed to paint them.
We have gotten some school scheduling info. We return on Tues evening around 7pm, and Jacob has a school field trip the next day - All day- 6:30AM to 5:30PM. It will be a long bus ride, they are going to NH, so maybe he will rest on the bus. He is going to be tired!
He also has open house/parent's night at school the night before we leave, and Hannah's is the night before that. So I better not leave too much till the last minute.
My Dad also has a business trip in the area during our trip, so he is visiting us that weekend. Jacob and I won't get to see him, but Hannah will. It will be a nice distraction for her, and it will help Joe out too.

I am so glad the glow stick on the plane issue has been addressed. Well, it has been my issue. I want to put these in the kids surprise bags but I was unsure about them being in the carryon. I wonder if glow necklaces would be too much and Do we need to put these in a ziplock bag? Hmmm
Cute finds at the Disney store. I saw stitch and I liked him but I wanted 2 different ones. I may have to go back in a week and see if they get something else. my kids are not fans of pooh so they wouldnt like the other costume plushes.
About the luggage, I leave 1 week after you and I'm so tempted to get mine out too! I have a bag in the corner of the room with all of our stuff and I would feel better somehow if it was in a suitcase! :lmao:
I say get them out and have everything packed this week that you wont need the following week. You could start gathering and checking off your purchases, extra toiletries etc. That way you have something fun to do as well!!!
Did you make copies of the back of your party tickets yet? I am going to do that RIGHT NOW!!! :lmao: I just reminded myself!

I had been thinking of the make-up, and had not even considered the glowsticks, unitl we were at the store the other day. They were next to each other and it suddenly clicked. I don't know about the bags. Actually I've never carried on any liquids since they created the rule. I usually check them so they won't slow me down at security. I have enough to keep track of with two kids, three backpacks, if my husband is with us, he always gets asked to open his stuff, between lap tops and underwater camera housings. :sad2:

My box of stuff is getting too full, and its not closing tight. :lmao:
I just want to finish some projects this weekend, then I'll pull out the smaller suitcase and starting filling that.
Did you make copies of the back of your party tickets yet? I am going to do that RIGHT NOW!!! :lmao: I just reminded myself!
:thumbsup2 I did it while reading your pretrip. :lmao:
And thanks to Di's pretrip, I have new rechargeable batteries! Though I still almost forgot, and had to get out of line and get them. :rolleyes1
Also bought rubberbands for the tie dying.
Now I have no excuse not to start that project.

I got home from work today, and Jacob had just gotten home from school. He had immediately changed to his Indiana Jones costume to see how it fit/looked. He was running around testing out the whip.
:rotfl2:
I took some pictures for him. I will let him post them on his report, since I know he wanted to do that.
Then Jacob got a big surprise. A package from his Grandfather.
Now on our last trip to Orlando, Jacob lost his camera at Universal, and ended up sharing mine. Since I did NOT want to share again, I had been looking at cameras and was going to buy him one. My Dad called and asked if he could get Jacob a camera as an early birthday present. He was looking at the same camera I was. So we found a good price at Dell.com and ordered it. Its a Canon 590 IS, nicer than the one he lost.

He was really excited!!!
Since he came home to find pumpkins yesterday, and a camera today, he wants to know how I will top that tomorrow. :sad2:
So now we can really take a lot of photos!!!

You sound like you're all organised!
Well, I'm all packed and I ain't unpacking now! :rotfl:
The suitcases will just have to sit out for the next few weeks! Will just have to make sure I don't trip over them! ;)
Am annoyed that we'll miss MNSSHP - it looks excellent! still, at least we're still getting to go to WDW. Could have been much worse!

I'm down to a week and a half!!! :cheer2:
Which is the point where I start to panic over all the things I want to do and when I am going to get them done.
I spent Sunday looking at costumes, and with the kids input I ordered two costumes off ebay.
Now the costume plans and ideas have changed constantly since Jacob came up with his original list of suggestions. I ended up with an Alice dress and a blue fairy dress. They were both shipped this morning. The Alice dress should be no problem, as it was shipped from a costume shop in New York.
The fairy dress on the other hand may or may not make it here in time. I found a seller in Australia (rainbow.fairies) with an assortment of fairy and princess dresses that I really liked. It was shipped this morning and should take 6 to 10 days to arrive. So I am keeping my fingers crossed on that one. They actually had the same dress in pink that I liked too, but the kids talked me into the blue. I guess because the fairy godmother wears blue. I liked the princess ones too, but I think they would be too hot.

That was one item on last weeks list checked off! :yay:
The other goal for last week was to start the tie dye shirts. :rolleyes1
That's still on the list. :lmao:

You are going to be worn out with all of that! Jacob will probably be a zombie on his field trip!
That's great that you're going to have two cameras going. I look forward to seeing the different viewpoints from which you take your pictures. He looks cute in his hat, but don't tell him he looks cute - tell him he looks cool or awesome or whatever the most popular middle school word is these days.

It ended up not being good timing with the field trip.
It will be a two and half to three hour bus ride though, so maybe he can rest on the bus.

Tie dye update: I got a Mickey shape sewn into one shirt!!! Took me two trys. Started it Monday night, and when I "finished" I realized there was a stitch outside the Mickey. I don't know how that happened. :sad2: Tried to cut it out, and keep the shape, but when I pulled it tight to bunch up the Mickey I pulled half of it out. :guilty:
So, Tues AM I redid the second half. And it is tightly bunched and ready for the next step!!! Now to sew Jacob's and I'd like to make Hannah one if I have time!!!!
The kids had a dentist appt yesterday, and its right near a home depot. We had some Mickey paint chips (39), but we stopped for some more!!!! We got a lot. Jacob did a great job collecting them this time. I haven't counted them yet, they are still in my purse. Hannah collected some colors for a room makeover she would like to do. That won't be anytime soon though.
Should have some time to do trip stuff after work today. :yay:
Will take some pics of the Mickey heads and maybe start some window decoration crafts.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that fairy dress. I hope it comes in in time. I know it will. Can't wait to see pics of you and Jacob all dressed up. And also can't wait to see those tie died shirts:rotfl:
They had some beautiful dresses. They have kids sizes too. And compared to everything else I was looking at they were reasonably priced. There is a really good chance it will get here.
I am hoping to dye the shirts on Friday, and let them sit overnight.

YAY! Finally had a moment to catch up!
Though I bet he would love to be in Irky or RachelNinja's class so he could talk about Disney.
She even made up a song and dance. :lmao:
It would be great to have Jacob as a student! If you saw on the Weird and Ninja thread, I posted a picture of the sign that's on my room door. One girl goes, "Only Miss -- would have penguins and words in the Disney writing on her sign." And then the big Disney fan out of all my students automatically noticed the Mickey ears I put on the penguins!
He also did his 2 ELA summer assignments on The Kingdom Keepers, books about kids who become holograms in Magic Kingdom. Well, at least that's what it says on the back of the book. His mom told me about it during the parent orientation before school even started. Then on the first day of school, the student brought it in for me because he knew I'd want to read it. He keeps asking me if I read it yet, but I'm so busy. He asked again today too! I told him that if he needed it back, he could take it since I wouldn't be reading it any time soon. Then his mom said, "I don't think he minds, he just really wants you to read it!" Haha, that's a great student to have ... encouraging me to read for pleasure ... especially for Disney pleasure!
Anyway, I was just letting you know because the books will be around Jacob's grade level if he needed a book or something. I had never heard about it before so it was new to me!
BTW, Hannah's song and dance were great!
He was running around testing out the whip.
Now on our last trip to Orlando, Jacob lost his camera at Universal, and ended up sharing mine. Since I did NOT want to share again, I had been looking at cameras and was going to buy him one. Reminds me of my older brother when he was in JHS! He dressed up as Indiana Jones for Literary Day. His whip was a long, white rope that we used as jump ropes! "Hi, I'm Indiana Jones and this is my trusty whip" ... that's how he introduced himself when his class went around to see the younger classes.
And YAY for the new camera! So excited to see the pictures you both take!
The fairy dress on the other hand may or may not make it here in time.
Very pretty! Can't wait to see you two in the costumes at WDW :)

I need the reminders! And that's the second time today you made me laugh. I tried to catch up on your tr this morning but I had to stop after a couple of lines about pennies. I was at work, and I did not want to have to explain what was so funny, since nothing I was supposed to be doing was that funny. :rolleyes1 I will catch up tomorrow, since everyone else here is asleep.
I finished sewing the shapes into the shirts!!!!
I did four total - I couldn't decide if I wanted a tshirt or tank top so I did both. One for Jacob. Two for Hannah - one with Mickey, and one with a heart. OK that's five. I can't count.
The rest went much better!!!
Tomorrow I will band them up.
And Friday we will dye them and let them soak overnight.

And I will definately look for those books.
Jacob loves to read (Hannah too!) I have trouble keeping them supplied with books. They give me all their favorite books so I can read them too. Then Jacob always wants to talk about them. We could have our own little book club.
I believe the third Eragon (Christopher Paolini) book comes out next week, and I am wondering how big it is, and if we will have to take it to Orlando with us.

  :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :cheer2:
Sunday I ordered the Alice costume and today it arrived!!!
I tried it on and it fits! I’m not sure how comfortable it will be, and its probably going to be hotter than I thought, but I like it anyway. I will bring something to change into in case at some point I’ve had enough.
The kids really liked it, especially Hannah. She said I should wear it on Halloween.
So we each have one costume ready to go!!!
I also ordered some pins on Sunday for trading, 20 unseen pins, so I didn’t know what they would be. They came today too. I only ordered 20, because I was not sure how into it Jacob will be. And I have to keep the cost somewhat under control. I really liked them, and I think I should have ordered more. Maybe I will later.

We will trade some and keep some.
This one is a keeper. I will give it to Hannah. She loves  Dumbo. She watched that movie all the time when she was little. And she would giggle giggle giggle during some parts. She also loves Soarin’.

I am wondering which we will be willing to trade.
I haven't actually done any trading yet, but I know there are lots of adults that do. Hannah traded a couple on our last trip (she got a lanyard with duplicate pins to start trading) and she really liked it.
There was no one at the paint counter when we arrived. Then someone was there for a bit. Then gone again. Jacob had them right in his hand. I use the hide them in the brochure method. We had Hannah with us, she didn't know what we were doing. She was choosing colors for her bedroom. She's always talking about a bedroom makeover.

Lucky for me it required the one stitch I know. :lmao:
I have been searching for costumes thinking if I could just sew I could make anything I wanted.
But can not draw or cut a straight line, so I probably could not sew one either. :sad2:

I can't wait to make more!!!
We love AG, too!!!!
Can't wait to go back to the store & cafe.
I saw a post of yours somewhere today and noticed your user name. I saw AG and my first thought was American Girl, then I reminded myself that AG could stand for many other things. Now I notice the dolls in your signature, too!

Also wanted to tell you something funny...
This morning I passed by one of my DD's coloring books and it has a picture of Belle on the cover. For some reason, I thought of you! I guess I associate you with Belle because of your picture! Isn't that funny. It reminded me that I wanted to say hi and check on you. Too funny.

Its so close now!!! And I feel like there is so much to do. I am so impatient waiting for the trip, then the last week I am panicing thinking I will never be ready in time. :lmao:
We still have a lot to do, but it will get done. We got the tie dye dyed today and it is soaking. Jacob is hopefully done painting his costume. Will have to check. It SOUNDS like he's playing video games. Hopefully he did the costume first. :rolleyes1
Beaches and Cream sounds good!!!
All day I kept thinking next week we will be at Epcot!!!

Thank you. That's so nice.
Its funny all the things that remind me of friends on here.
I love to read like Belle. And she is doing one of my favorite things in that picture. Reading in the flower garden.

Its been a busy week!!!
We went to Disney on Ice on Sunday and had a lot of fun.
I haven't even downloaded the photos onto the computer, yet!
If I have time I will post some.
My to do and in progress list:
1--We FINALLY dyed the tie dye shirts yesterday! :cool1:
It actually went ok.
I had originally planned to do it outside, but quickly realized I would need running water. So, I did the whole thing in the kitchen sink.
It worked out well, because I could keep rinsing things.
I had been worried about staining the counter, but no problems!
They are all wrapped up and the dye is soaking in.
I'll unwrap and rinse this afternoon or evening and we'll see how they look. I hope you can tell it is a Mickey shape. If not I will try to make it more obvious somehow.
2--Costumes!
Jacob has been painting neon green skeleton bones onto black pants & t-shirt. He finished last night!!! Tonight he is going to put a transparent "glow in the dark" topcoat on. Then he just needs to find all his pirate accessories! And some kind of belt for the sword. Hadn't thought about that.
I got my blue fairy dress in the mail yesterday!!!! :cheer2:
I'm so glad it made it in plenty of time!!! Yesterday was the EARLIEST it could have possibly arrived!!!
Great timing on that. One week to arrive from Australia!!!
I need to either borrow wings from Hannah's dress up box or pick up a new pair.
So costumes are going well!!!
3--Get a Haircut. Its in my eyes and driving me crazy.
4--I showed Jacob the pins and he liked them. He said we need to keep this one and this one. Should we keep this one too? :lmao:
I decided to order some more pins. The seller e-mailed me to ask what she had already sent, as she did not want to send me duplicates. So nice of her. And she mailed them yesterday. Hoping the post office is quick again!!! They SHOULD make it in time! I have a few other things I'm waiting for in the mail too!
5--We have not made iron on shirts yet. Though we have the shirts and the transfer paper. Just have to decide on the design and make them if we are going to do it.
6--Finish making window decorations. We have some printable clings, so I think Jacob is going to make something with them. And the mickey heads, and the hole punch. I need to take a quick look through the Halloween decorations and maybe bring a few small ones, and find our little Halloween Disney plush.
7--The one I'm dreading. Clear all my SD cards!!! So I can use them at Disney. But I have to back everything up first. I leave them on the card in case the computer were to crash. Got to put them on DVD and copy to the external drive.
8--Preorder photopass CD (an easy one!!!)
9--Buy Jacob a camera bag. And maybe some more SD cards.
10--print out mousekeeping envelopes that Jacob designed and a sticker for the m&m penny tube.
11--Wrap up all Hannah's surprises!
12--Charge batteries, phone, PSP
13--PACK!!!
14--Thursday morning---Print out boarding passes!!!

I like the pins you got. I would always be worried I wouldn't want to trade any!
I love the Halloween decorated LGMH's. That is such a great idea! :goodvibes I especially love the Mike Wazowski one, but they're all cute!
Yay for single digits!
Your to do list looks very long for leaving on Thursday! I would be freaking out about it.
I can't wait to see your shirts and Jacob's costume. (If the tie-dye shirts need touched up Mickey's use the fine side of a bleach pen to outline the Mickey shape. But make sure you put a heavy towel or something between the two sides of the shirt or you will have a bleach spot on the back - yes, I learned the hard way!)

It is long!!! I was freaking out earlier this week, but tomorrow all I have is four hours of work, and 45 minute open house/parent's night at Hannah's school. So a couple of errands and Lots of getting ready!!!
Good to know, I would not have thought to put something between until it was too late. Actually I am going to redo Jacob's and I think I will call the rest good enough. Will decide tomorrow. They are in the dryer right now.

I just spent yesterday backing up my SD cards. I made CD's of everything. It had been awhile since I had done that. :rolleyes1 Like 3 years. I was going to buy new SD cards then I realized I have perfectly good ones sitting here that just need to be deleted. It was scary but you can do it!!!
I'm writing down key points I want to steal for my to do list! See I go around stealing other peoples packing and to do lists so I dont have to be responsible for coming up with one on my own. :rotfl2:

I go back and forth between calm and panic.
I'm did another tie dye for Jacob this morning, we'll see how it comes out.
We saw Cars, The Little Mermaid, Lion King, and Tinkerbell and the Fairies. Hannah loved it. Jacob thought the cars were cool.
Hannah would love to see HSM.

I am slowly getting everything backed up. I actually had caught up mid July. I have so many photos and videos and not much memory on my computer that I have run out of space and not been able to download photos twice this year.
I did the easiest one on there. I preordered the photopass. :lmao:
Jacob printed the mousekeeping envelopes. I didn't fill them yet, but I tossed them in the suitcase so I would not lose them. And he's working on that skeleton.

I can no longer say in a week... because we are only going for 5 days, so next Wed we will be home.
But in 48 hours we will be on the plane!!!
I rinsed the tie dye shirts and ran them through the washer twice.
I didn't like Jacob's so I made him a new one this morning.
Its still soaking.
The dye for the Mickey really ran, and is very blurry.
The rest of the shirt does not have much dye. :headache:
If it were just the mickey I'd try to bleach, but the shirt just has no color.
I took pictures but they are a bit dark.
Jacob's FIRST shirt.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/tiedyejacob.jpg
I dyed it while wrapped up.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/0908%20plans/tiedyejacob02.jpg
But once opened there was a lot of white inside.
I thought it would soak through. It didn't.
First time doing this, that's why I bought extra shirts.

I drowned his second one in dye.
I may have used too much. :confused3

We’re Back!!!
We had an amazing time. :cloud9:
Wish we were still there.
Friday night it didn't seem real that we were in Disney.
Then today, I woke up thinking about what park we would go to, and realized I was home.
It was really short, but we did a lot!
Didn’t get to everything we hoped though.
We forgot to do a couple of things.
Tried some rides we hadn’t been on yet.
Met some new characters. Some I was real excited to meet too! :yay:
Had a few amazing character experiences as usual. :yay:
And even though Jacob knew a lot about Disney, I managed to surprise him a few times with really cool stuff he'd never heard of. :thumbsup2
Came home exhausted!
Didn’t even start unpacking last night. Only took out the toothbrushes.
My legs hurt from all that walking.
The Halloween party was fantastic! :goodvibes
Boo to you is now my favorite parade.
Jacob’s skeleton pirate costume was really cool. :cool1:
Jacob did a great job decorating our window.
We saw a couple of other cool windows.
We visited all four parks – (one was a very short visit) – but we spent the most time at the MK.
We made it to 4 of our 5 ADRs.
It was so HOT the first few days, not as bad Mon & Tues (it got cloudy).
I’m told I missed 6 inches of rain at home.
I started to download all the photos. But once again my hard drive is full. Need to do some more deleting. I have full videos of every concert the kids are in. :rolleyes1 I just deleted a folder and it wouldn't fit in the recycle bin!
There’s no way we could have done a trip like this with Hannah or anyone else with us. We did a lot of rides she won’t try and stayed out late several nights. I even had a melt down one night because I was so tired.
Hannah was happy to see us last night, but I don't think she missed us much. She had a sleepover Friday night, her grandparents took her shopping Sat, She went roller skating with her Dad Sunday. And she had another sleepover Mon, there was no school Tuesday, so she stayed at that friends all day. Joe picked her up on the way to the airport.
This was our first time on site and with the buses. Mostly the buses were great. I could not drive after being out so late. We usually had our eyes shut on the bus ride back. We only had one time where the bus was very late, and took way longer than we thought. Of course it was when we were trying to get to an ADR. :headache:
Jacob got an Indiana Jones hat last trip, and this trip he bought a different hat on the last day. When I got up this morning he was wearing his new hat making mickey shapes with his Cheerios.
He was supposed to have an all day, hour long bus ride / mountain climbing field trip for all the eighth graders, today, but it was postponed due to the weather. Probably good he didn't. Instead he had a cross country meet this afternoon. Don't know how he did it.
And lots of things reminded us of our friends from on here.
Wake up! It's time to go!!!
Have a great time!:maleficen :hmghost:
Your post is about when I woke up. :lmao:
Which was earlier than I planned, but a good thing because I needed every minute to make it out the door on time.
Have a GREAT TRIP Kathleen and Jacob!!!

Thanks! We did!
I hope you two have a fantastic time!
Thanks! And I picked up Kingdom Keepers and Jacob loved it!!!
He got to the exciting part, and he brought it to Epcot with us.
I'd stop to take pictures, and he'd have pulled out the book.
I had to make him stop trying to read and walk at the same time.
Everything looks great! Have an awesome time and enjoy MNSSHP!!
Thanks! And Welcome!!!
Have a great trip, can't wait to hear all about it!

Welcome home Kathleen! How were the crowds?
Most of the lines weren't bad.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/potcsign.jpg
We walked on a lot of rides. At MNSSHP, and at pm EMH at the MK everything was walk on or short wait.
MK sat during the day was really crowded. :sad2:
We didn't get much done then.
The longest lines we saw were for Toy Story Mania (- and they were out of FP sometime before 1pm.) And I couldn't believe the line for Snow White and all 7 Dwarves at the MNSSHP.
World Showcase was a bit crowded late afternoon and evening, due to food & wine fest.
We checked the times board, and figured out what we needed to FP (Soarin, Test Track, Rock n Roller coaster) and what we could ride quickly and it worked out great. With the number of days you have you shouldn't have a problem riding everything.
Have an Amazing trip!!!

Hi Kathleen,
Welcome home to you and Jacob. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I thought I saw Jacob in the airport on the 26th but he was with a big group of people so I figured it wasn't y'all. I know that it's hard for the trip to be over after so much planning. I am so sad too and we're still here, but only for one more day:( I CAN'T wait to see all of your pics. I really want to see your fairy dress and Jacob's skeleton costume. Glad you had a safe trip back. I hope the transition back into reality isn't too hard:) Are you planning on doing a Trip Report?

I was thinking of you at the airport. Our flight was 10min late, which put us closer to your time. The pop ME line was right next to the BC ME line. Jacob was wearing his usual striped polo shirt at the airport.
Welcome back! I can't wait to hear more about your trip. You are doing a TR, right!?
yes, We are doing a trip report (together), so I am kind of waiting for Jacob to start. Not that I'm ready. I finally got Jacob's photos downloaded this morning. And tonight I backed everything up to DVDs and to the external drive. Now I need to start sorting through photos. And add borders to the photopass and have it sent.
I think I will continue on this thread, just have it moved over and add the links to the first post.

Early November, I think they will be. Just Sat was bad.
OK I am sorting photos and I have some of Friday written, so I need to get together with Jacob tomorrow, and hopefully we will get started with the trip down!
In the meantime, thought I'd put up some of our Disney on Ice photos from the weekend before the trip. This was Sunday 9/21.
They had a display of princess dresses in the lobby.

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/disneyonice/disice09.jpg
Hannah pointed out that Sleeping Beauty's dress was missing. Maybe they couldn't make up their mind which color to use.
We had great seats, second row, thanks to presale codes!!!
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/disneyonice/disice10.jpg
This was especially great, because we could really see the skaters. We've been to Disney on Ice as well as Champions on Ice before. But this is the first show we've been able to see since Hannah started ice skating lessons a year and a half ago. I was pointing out some of the moves that she was learning. Though they do them much quicker!
The show included Cars, Little Mermaid, Lion King, and Tinkerbell and the Fairies.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/kathleen27photos/disneyonice/disice11.jpg
I'll just add its really hard to take photos of skaters. They move FAST.
These are a mix of my pictures and Jacob's, and was a great test for his new camera.
We had to start with an intro of Mickey and Minnie!!!

Hi Kathleen,
You can tell Hannah that Heather feels just the same, but to just keep persevering! Heather's only recently got the hang of the backward crossovers, it's the 'mohawks' that she's finding difficult now! Oh yes, and the 'waltz jump'! :scared1:

The crossovers do look hard. She is not "jumping" yet. More hopping. I think they call them toe hops or toe jumps. I'll have to wait to find out what a mohawk is.
Its great to see when they suddenly get comfortable doing something! She is now in the first level of the mid-intermediate/advanced time slot, so the advanced skaters are there too, and its neat to watch them.
:lmao: I love the pictures of Hannah and Jacob watching the fairies!
There expressions were funny! Jacob did really enjoy the cars though. It's hard to take pictures of a person sitting next to you, they're too close to fit on the screen.
