This was a birthday trip for my wonderful man Bill and he wore his birthday button for 3 days, because we went to 3 of the 4 parks. “OMG, oh no, you did what? That is awful”- if you think any of these things quit reading now. We did it, I wouldn’t change a thing and we had a wonderful time.
For those of you that don’t know us here is the cast list:
First up ME, Tracy : I am a long winded TR writer who loves WDW, the DIS, my son, our dog, and a wonderful man named Bill not in that order mind you. Well maybe WDW first just kidding…or am I? This was my 4th time to WDW!!
Next is Bill: He has Cerebral Palsy and is in a power wheelchair. He is a rebel, a daredevil, and most loving man on the earth. He is my best friend, my inspiration, my Prince Charming, and is utterly amazing. He loves Star Wars and especially Yoda. This was his 9th time to WDW.
Us at WDW in 2007:
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee224/sirkaiserwilliam/Smileys/BillandTracyepcot.jpg
Lastly is Ace: He is our 3 ½ yr old Jack Russell/Rat Terrier that gets totally aggravated when the suitcases come out. He literally moans, sighs loudly, and pouts.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/tabrx/Ace/b698.jpg
We had many changes leading up to this trip and that continued throughout our time in Disney. I picked up Bill from work around 12:30pm. I wanted to be on the road so that we would get to Nashville by 5pm, well that didn’t happen :( . Someone (Bill) was still working on the new website he is building for his job. He just couldn’t leave it alone.
Bill has a locking mechanism in the floor of his van, he rolls into the right place and it locks his wheelchair in place. That is such a great thing to have, don’t you think? It is wonderful when you push a button and it releases him. It was really wonderful when it WAS working. It has went haywire lately. There is a lever I can push to release him manually. I just have to reach under his chair in between a set of wheels to get to it. Fat hand – tiny spot to get into doesn’t equal fun. I decided to take the van to the car wash right before we left to vacuum all around that area hoping that was the issue.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/e1f3b47f.jpg
I put the quarters in, turn around and see this:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/55dfc594.jpg
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/eb5d8e67.jpg
I was laughing to hard, I put down the hose and took the pictures.
We didn’t get to Nashville until 7:30pm. I was going to take a picture of the “Welcome to Tennessee” sign, but I barely got the side of it and you can see Acey nose prints on the windshield, I didn’t want to have people seeing how bad a person I am for not having the windshield spotless for picture taking :headache:. We stayed at LaQuintas again. Here is a pic of the room:
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee224/sirkaiserwilliam/Kassie%20Nashville/003.jpg
Does it look familiar :rolleyes1 ? It should I am recycling the pic from our trip the week before when we were in Nashville, we got the same exact room. We went over to Opry Mills and walked the mall a little bit. We went into the Disney store and they had their t-shirts for $4.99. Bill wanted to wait to spend his money, I got a Grumpy shirt.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/58d8f957.jpg
We decided to go eat. We saw about a thousand of these:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/68151dc6.jpg
Now I had researched some locations and saw what I wanted. I am trying to watch my caloric intake. Bill saw the KFC right next to the hotel and wanted to go there. I was not happy at all. Greasy and not nutritional. The Tracy in early January would have been fine with this dinner choice. The Tracy in June that has lost about 50 pounds (between 40 and 50, I was allergic to a scale for the first 6 weeks of my life style change) since early January did not like it at all. It really upset me, I was already worried about the food choices in Disney and here we are at grease central. I got a twister with no dressing, but was still upset about it. I finally calmed myself down and thought don’t let this ruin your vacation it will be ok, then I let it go.
We went back to the room and to bed. I still love that bed, we slept very well. There was none of the “it is the day before Disney, I can’t sleep” issues I usually have. The wake up call came at 4am, we were out the door by 4:45am.
Next installment… Did I find the airport, how did check in go?

The hotel did not have a wheelchair accessible shuttle. All the flight park places around Nashville didn’t have a wheelchair accessible shuttle either, I called them. Only one said they would have us drive to their location, have one of their employees drive us in our van to the airport then take the van back to their location, then we would call them to pick us up. That didn’t sit well with me. We needed the van to get home, what if one of their employees did something to it? I had that scene from Ferris Bueller running through my head where the parking attendant guy took off in the car  . I decided to brave finding the airport and parking myself.
It was ridiculously easy. The airport was 1.03 miles from the hotel. Parking was easy and it was only a short walk, we didn’t need the airport’s shuttle. TSA again treated Bill like he was up to something, he got felt up and I think he liked it ;) . We boarded first as usual. I always watch for the wheelchair to be loaded. It just puts my mind at ease to physically see it put in the plane. Here are the pics I took as they were loading it.

I thought it was a great idea for them to use that piece of equipment instead of trying to lift the chair :thumbsup2 . We landed 9:25am Florida time, had the wheelchair by 9:40am and were on our way to the monorail imposter.
Pretty fountain at the airport:

I checked in at the Magical Express counter. I felt bad for the lady, she was saying her spiel, I know she has to tell us the procedures, but I found myself saying “I know, I know”. Then she asked how many times we had been there, once I told her she said “you could probably tell me what I am supposed to say next”. I smiled and said “yes, I think I could”, we both laughed. She told us to be seated at the benches in front of the lines for ME and we saw this:

NO PEOPLE!!
It was fantastic!! That is the difference from going on Friday instead of Saturday. It took about 30 minutes to get an accessible bus.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/0c954a97.jpg
We got to Pop and both of us couldn’t stop smiling.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/ccf94ec1.jpg
The line was long, but moved fairly quickly. I talked to a first timer that was leaving that day while we were waiting. She was asking me about the weather later in the year, I told her about the lovely times we had in November. She was really nice.
It was our turn and our room wasn’t ready, but we did have a package. It was one of the pins that Bill had purchased from Ebay. He had asked the guy to drop it off there:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/1a8e0077.jpg
We were starving so we went to the Everything Pop food court. See the craziness behind Bill:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/04acf32e.jpg
Bill got the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Penne Alfredo w/Breadstick and I got the Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Mixed Greens.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/350546c3.jpg
The station with the Caesar salad was closed for some reason at the time we were there that day :(. Bill got tie dye cheesecake and I got a fruit cup. I knew Bill would want to eat outside so we went to a table. Then it started. I had trouble with birds on our last trip and it started early this time:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/aa52b874.jpg
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/22949d88.jpg
I said that’s it, we are going inside, besides I wanted to be in the air conditioning for as long as I could because I knew I wouldn’t be around it much for the next three days. We ate. I don’t know what they had on the mixed greens, but I wasn’t taking my chances. I peeled the parmesan crust off my chicken, people probably thought I was nuts and while I was eating it, I tried the fruit cup. It was fantastic, everything was so fresh and flavorful. I really enjoyed it. Bill was eating, I was done and decided to call the room at 12:40pm.

We had Pop mojo, I kept thinking about Jordan while I was at Pop and the word “mojo”. I bet I drove Bill crazy with that word, but I couldn’t help it. We had the mojo going on and it continued when I opened the door to the room:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/582a3c00.jpg
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/10305479.jpg
Our luggage was already there, I was thrilled. I put things up and was very happy. The only other request I had was a shower bench, yes there is a pull down bench in the roll in shower rooms, but Bill needs more support and something to hold on to, so we always get a shower bench brought to the room. It didn’t come so I called and they said they would send one right out. This is the pull down bench:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/e2e954ac.jpg
The guy came and put it in the bathroom. Bill was talking to me so I didn’t pay much attention, until I went to the bathroom, I started laughing and couldn’t quit. I saw this:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/3aabd3a5.jpg
Now I don’t know if you can tell or not, but that is very short, little enough for a child. Too small for Bill, so I got back on the phone (after I took a picture of it) and told them the mix up, they came right back with an adult size bench and all was well.
Bill and I were both eyeing the “future visit promotion” we had in the room. He asked me to get a price, but we were on hold for a long time. I didn’t want to spend my first day waiting, so I hung up.
Our original plan was to go to DHS to check out Star Wars Weekend, go to Fantasmic that night, and go back in the morning. Bill suggested we try to move the 50’s Prime Time Café ressie until the next day and just go to Epcot that night. I called, got the ressie moved and we decided to wing it for dinner.
We left the room after I put the window clings up and took a picture, I didn't notice until yesterday that you can see my reflection:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/0019a0b7.jpg
We went to the bus stop. I had to take more pictures:

I noticed how much better I felt health wise with the weight I had already lost. I found myself many times on this trip having to wait for Bill to catch up with me. I was on a mission, I had places to go, and I didn’t want to get there slowly
Next installment…how long do we have to wait for this bus?

You are so right, I wasn't stressed. Bill still likes going out of St. Louis, we are home in about 90 minutes instead of 3 hours, so we will see. It is usually cheaper to go out of Nashville and I love that mall down there:rotfl2:.
I am thinking about trying a cheaper hotel in St. Louis and just driving to the airport like I did in Nashville. I was looking at the St. Louis airport website last night and even if we park at one of the cheaper lots farther away from the airport, the shuttles are wheelchair accessible :thumbsup2.
Glad there were no DME lift issues on this trip.

Hi Michelle. I really liked the chicken. It makes me want to go back when I see the pictures too. Thanks about the weight loss comments, it really did help this trip and I know I will have lost more by October.
What are your dates again in October? I would love to get to meet you if we could.

It must be a great relief to see the chair get put onto the plane, it would be bad to lose luggage but horrendous to lose Bills chair!
Looks like you scored a great room and so funny about the shower chair :rotfl:
It's fantastic that you can feel the difference with the weightloss, well done :thumbsup2

Hi Jen, I am reading about you, Jon, your Motha, and Lexie as we speak. It is a great PT/TR and I am having so much fun reading it. I will reply to it when I get all caught up. You are hilarious.
Thank you for your sweet words.
Your welcome! And thanks so much for your words! :thumbsup2

Yes, it is a great relief to see the chair go in the plane, I couldn't even imagine what we would do it they didn't send it. A long time ago, Bill was on a flight that stopped to pick up more people and happened to look out the window. He saw them unloading his chair :scared1:. He got the flight attendant's attention and they put it back on, but if he hadn't been looking it would have been a mess. That is why we do direct flights only.
We could hear people in the pool sometimes at night when we were laying in bed, but we fell asleep quickly.

Yes, I know I spelled “Epcot” wrong in my installment title. See the DIS messes with your brain and makes you say things differently. I had read the word “Epicot” on LaLa’s trip report a long time ago and told Bill about it. We have since referred to Epcot as Epicot, don’t judge us, just smile and keep reading.
How long did we wait for the bus? Oh about 10 seconds, I kid you not. We walked up and the bus magically appeared. Well, ok it didn’t “magically” appear, it came around the corner, but I am in Disney so to me it was magic.

Andy, the bus driver was so nice and efficient. He knew exactly where to put the tie downs.

*A side note here. I took many pictures of how Disney makes things accessible so you will be seeing them throughout the report… side note over, on with the installment.
We got to Epicot (ok Epcot, I am annoying myself as I type this by continually saying Epicot). I noticed this fence:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/de4833bc.jpg
Was this there in November and I just don’t remember? Is this new? What is the deal with this? I swear it wasn’t there then, but I could be wrong.
Ahhh, there it is, Spaceship Earth:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/90c03011.jpg
We went up to the ticket counter with our lime green Annual Pass vouchers. The ticket agent was thrilled, she turned to her co-worker and said “see I told you there were some AP’s that were lime green”. I guess they had a bet going or something and I had just helped her win. Yep, that is me, there to spread the pixie dust whenever I can. She got us fixed up, Bill got Cinderella and I got Mickey, what is up with that?? I asked for a birthday button for Bill and we were on our way.
We headed over to guest relations to see if we could score an ADR somewhere. We got Restaurant Marrakesh. I was not happy, but seeing Bill grinning when the CM mentioned the belly dancer reminded me this was his birthday trip and to just go along with it.
Look, pretty foilage:

I had read on the DIS that there was a question as to whether or not Bill would have to transfer or not. We had been on it before and never had an issue. They asked us if he could transfer and I told them if he couldn’t go in his regular chair, we would not ride. She got a manager and they said no problem. I am not sure if they had a problem since we were there in November or what? All I know is if they have a fantastic accessible ride vehicle like that one it is a shame they are thinking about making people transfer all the time.

I am really glad we went there. We are going to go see the movie on our next trip.
We decided to just walk, I took some pictures:

Then I saw someone with an alcoholic slushie. I stopped her, “where did you get that?” She told me and we were on our way. I saw the $8 price tag and didn’t care, I wanted a Grey Goose slushie.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/6e9b1662.jpg
OMG, Y U M M Y!!! I wanted Bill to take a pic of me with it. HUH? Me, actually wanting a picture of myself, the booze must have been getting to my brain fast. I was acting goofy, very goofy when Bill took this:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/TN%20and%201st%20day/304909d0.jpg
As I was sitting there, I had to take a picture of Morocco. Yes, you see it, if anyone has read Jordan’s trip report, you will understand. I will not say the word, but you know what I was thinking when I took it. I was not being offensive, I was not being mean, I just wanted a picture of Morocco .

Bill said he was getting a little hungry, so I decided to see if we could check in 30 minutes early.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20restaurant%20signs/9e1ae8e6.jpg

We ordered dessert. Bill got the Moroccan Symphony (Assorted pastires) and I got the Bastilla. Bill and I laughed when the desserts came out. The Bastilla was huge and Bill’s dessert was these 3 little pieces of pastries.

With the fence at Epcot, I think but maybe wrong, that at busier times of year/day they have a big bag check area and the fences guide you through them rather than the bag checks at the turnstiles :confused3

Great update! Love the term "epicot" - now you've got me saying it! :rotfl:
It is nice to see the pictures of how accessible WDW world is for Bill - that looks like a really cool clamshell that you guys got to ride in during Nemo.
I always forget about the dolphins in there - can't believe I've never seen them all these years.
You look so happy in that picture with the slushie! I guess I would be too - lol. I have yet to try that drink but it is on the list for our girls trip in December.

Hi Jo! I loved looking at all the flowers. We seem to not spend time just looking around the world showcase. We hope to changed that in October.
Bill enjoyed watching the belly dancer :rotfl:.

Disney is one of the most accessible places there is. It makes me so happy that he can ride all the things he can in the comfort of his wheelchair. The CM's were really accomodating when I was taking pictures of the accessiblity.
The dolphin training was a "must do" for us this time, I am so glad we did it.
I think you will enjoy the slushie :thumbsup2.
I am glad I took that picture in Morocco. I adore Jordan and it just kept running through my head to do that. After I did, I didn't think about doing it again.
Thank you everyone for reading.

We came out of the restaurant and it had cooled off a bit. The sun was behind some clouds and there was a breeze, ahhhhh very nice. We went to look at a pin cart. Bill hadn’t purchased any pins yet and was itching to. He got a muppet pin and a Tink Pin:

Why do I go picture crazy when I go to WDW? I guess in the back of my mind it doesn’t feel real to me, that I might never make it back and I have to capture all the sites I see, so this installment will have some of the many pictures I took.
I liked seeing the boat in the lagoon:

For some reason I short changed Mexico, like I usually do to Canada:confused3 . We were making our way to one of the wheelchair accessible locations. Illuminations was different from the last time we saw it, we loved it. WDW really knows how to do the fireworks shows.
We made our way out of the park and went to the bus line. For some reason there was no place to break off to go for wheelchairs so we went through the normal line. It was insane how many people were in line, but everyone was nice for about the first hour, then people started getting cranky. Busses were going to the other stops, but not for Pop. It took us over 90 minutes to get close to the front of the line. I expected this because of the crowds in June. It was very hot, but I was handling it well. A bus showed up and the driver started telling me we were in the wrong place and we should have been here, blah, blah, blah. Then I told him there was no place to veer off and he looked and said “well that shouldn’t be that way” DUH!!!
We finally got back to Pop and got Chocolate milk for Bill’s pills. I set the alarm for 6am and we went to bed.
Next installment…Did we make rope drop at DHS?

Great pictures of World Showcase Tracy! I especially like the one of SSE seen through the china/japan( (?) pavillion. We have yet to see IllumiNations - must do on next trip. Sorry about your horrible bus wait - that is crazy!

Great installment!! I love your pictures around the World Showcase. Don't worry about going picture-crazy. On our last trip to TN, we were gone for a total of 7 days, and I took over 800 pictures. I hate to think how many I'll take at Disney World..... (That's why I'm bringing the laptop -- so I can download my pictures and not worry about running out of room on the memory cards)

Yikes 90 mins?!?!?!? :scared1: That is why DH likes to walk aroud the park and take our time leaving so we don't have to wait in a line that long. Plus it is nice to be in the parks just enjoying the moment while sitting on a bench instead of in a line. Can't wait to see if you made it for rope drop.

Hi! Usually Bill and I do walk around for a bit before going out to the busses, but we had been up since 4am and just wanted to get back to the room.

The alarm went off and the wake up call came at the same time. What did we do? I hopped up ready to go and Bill didn’t say his classic “one more hour” line. We were both excited to see what would happen this day. After I got Bill ready, I got ready, and got stuff together for Bill’s backpack, we were out the door by 7:30am.
A rare quiet time at Pop:

Bill, waiting for the bus, ready for a day of Star Wars activity:

We got on a bus right before 8 and in a couple of minutes we were there. We were standing in a great place to wait for the Stormtroopers to show up. I took some pictures:

They saw Bill pointing at them and one of them pointed a gun right toward Bill:

It was funny, we liked it a lot. They decided to let us in. We saw someone dressed as Anakin behind Bill:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/5443be0f.jpg
As we were walking in the park we heard them saying “fast pass lanes are over here”. Bill looked at me, I looked at him and we went that way. David Prowse’s (Darth Vader) line was very long. Peter Mayhew’s (Chewbacca) line wasn’t too bad and Bill said he wanted to try it. There was a lady in front of us with her son. This was their first time too. I asked the CM if I needed a Fast Pass or not because I didn’t want an autograph I would just be going through the line with Bill, he said only Bill would need one.
The lady, Diane, started talking to her daughter that had just come up. There was a conversation about the daughter not wanting to stand in line with her dad in the Darth Vader line “because they were way back there and there was no chance of a FP”. She wanted to get Chewy’s autograph, but Diane wanted her to stay with her dad and keep him company. Then I got an idea, I told her I could get a FP and give it to her for her daughter. I wanted to spread some Pixie Dust that day. She thanked me many times and got my email addy. The Stormtroopers walked among the crowd and I got a picture of Bill with one.

We went on our way and who did we see? Queen Amidala and we decided to get a picture of Bill with her. Yes, we had the birthday button on again – day 2 of the 3 day extravaganza. Don’t judge us just smile and keep reading. The Queen wished Bill Happy Birthday and I played photographer:

We didn’t have a plan for today, so we decided to walk around. Here are some random pics I took:

We walked over to see Behind the Force, but Bill decided to see the motorcade instead on the other side of the park. On the way we stopped in at Tatoonie Traders and got Bill a SWW t-shirt and a Star Wars pin:

We were worried about getting a spot, so we went over to sit at the Backlot Express, there was a rope so we sat behind it. We got to see the kids doing the Padawan Mind Challenge, it was cute.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/662ca25a.jpg
People were lining up for the motorcade. Here is a family that got dressed up:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/123b6d12.jpg

You got some very nice shots of the parade/motorcade. Looks like a lot of fun (even though it was HOT).
And I have to admit. I've never even seen ONE of the Star Wars movies!!! I know basically who the main characters are, but can't really tell ya much about the storylines or anything. Just one thing I never did get "into". Look like you guys were enjoying it though. :cool1:

Hi Jo. It was extremely crowded, but the people seemed to be a lot more polite than the super soap fans. Thanks, I had fun spreading the pixie dust. The mom kept saying over and over again.. are you sure? She was really sweet.

Great update again! As usual...love the pics. We were there last year during SWW...and it was not fur us...Jon got to meet the guy who plays Darth Maul though. That was neat!
And Warwick Davis...who did he play in the movie again? Is he the guy from Willow? :confused3
That was nice of you to get a FP for the girl...WDW is alllll about the magic baybee!
And good luck to Bill on Wed. You guys will be in my thoughts!
Thanks! Warwick was Wicket the Ewok when he was 11. He was in Willow, in the Harry Potter movies, and in the new Narnia film too.
I loved being able to give out some pixie dust, we might get some fast passes for some of the rides and just give them out to people in October.
Thanks for the good thoughts for Bill.

We didn’t eat before we went to DHS. Now it was around noon and I had only had a water, Bill a Coke and we shared a Nestle ice cream bar. We were hungry and hot. We were already at the Backlot Express. I got a cheeseburger (OMG can you believe I didn’t get chicken?), but I did get the carrots instead of fries, I also got the sugar free strawberry parfait so did Bill. He got chicken nuggets and fries. There were no tables so we went to a bench just outside the Backlot and we used his tray for our table. We had our own little picnic.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/4b42ff90.jpg
I went off to the bathroom and while I was gone 2 different people came up to Bill asking questions. A woman came out of Backlot and walked up to him and asked where the restrooms were. Bill didn’t know, she thought he pointed to the right and walked away :rotf:. About 3 minutes later, he was looking at the Star Wars Weekend program, a man walked up to him and asked if he worked there. All he could figure out is that people thought he was a CM because of the color polo he had on.
We then made our way to Stars of the Saga. It was a talk show with Warwick Davis (Wickett the Ewok) interviewing David Prowse and Peter Mayhew. It was cute and fun.

Toward the end of the show, Warwick gave them some Mickey Ears to wear:

Sorry about Warwick’s picture being blurry, but I wanted to show all of them in the Mickey Ears. It was time for Bill’s fast pass with Peter Mayhew. We were lined up and out of there within 10 minutes.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/5575bd65.jpg
See the woman in the background with boy and the girl - that is the family I gave the Fast Pass to. Peter only signs one thing per person. We didn’t know that when we got up there, Bill really wanted the fast pass signed, but he had already signed a black and white pic. We learned something that day…ask when you get up there what the individual’s rules are about signing things.
We decided to go on the Great Movie Ride, but Bill wanted to check out the pins under the Sorcerer hat. He didn’t see any he wanted. Three people walked up to us and were looking at Bill’s pins. He had been collecting some new Star Wars ones that had just come out. Sometimes Disney does “mystery pin sets”. They come in a two pack, but you can’t see which pins you are getting when you buy them. There are 10 different pins to collect. Bill didn’t go the mystery route. He went on Ebay and had 9 of the 10. They said they knew about the pins and asked if there were any pins he was missing. Bill said Stitch dressed as Yoda. The lady pulled her Stitch off her lanyard and said “here, we have 3 of these” and handed it to me. I was speechless at first. We got Pixie Dust!! I told her we had to give her something for it. She said just give me any pin of yours you want to. I gave her my Tinkerbell “Where dreams come true” pin. Bill kept thanking them. It was a very nice thing for them to do.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/4423262e.jpg
We went on the Great Movie Ride and had a good time. We decided to sit down by the Sorcerer hat and get a drink. Many people were standing in the shade because they were miserable like us lol. We cooled off and decided to see if we could find some characters. MINNIE LEIA!!! The line wasn’t long either. The character handler came back by our part of the line and said Minnie was here now, but would be leaving soon, so he wasn’t sure if we would be taking pictures with Minnie or Jedi Mickey. We didn’t mind either getting a picture with either one.
It was Bill’s turn:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/56ad3d82.jpg
I was taking pictures and Mickey walked up.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/a04e0b56.jpg
Minnie had to kiss Bill (I love the look on his face):
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/bde310b6.jpg
Then Minnie motioned for me to join them for a picture and wouldn’t take no for an answer:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/8fde7ffb.jpg
We thanked her, she hugged me, and we went to leave. Mickey and Minnie greeted each other and Mickey came up to Bill and wanted a picture, so we got a two for one, more pixie dust!!
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/fe19065f.jpg
It was almost time for our 50’s Prime Time Café ressie so we started walking that way and saw Warwick signing autographs. I have to say this, the SWW fans are more polite than the Super Soap Weekend ones. They would come up to the railing take a picture and then go. For SSW they hang out at the railing and don’t move, they don’t let anyone else in there to take pictures. Warwick even looked up and smiled for us so we could take a picture:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/fba4c2ac.jpg
We checked in at 50’s and were seated right away. Byron was our server and he was FANTASTIC. We loved him, not only because he was playful, but because he talked to Bill not at him. He never once asked me “what does he want”, in fact he told Bill to keep me and the other guests in line. Bill ordered a root beer float and I got a tea.
Bill got the Pot Roast:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/52823673.jpg
I got the Salmon:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/4d778493.jpg
I haven’t had salmon in years, I really enjoyed this. It was very good. Bill loved his dinner. He was full and didn’t want dessert. Byron said “ok, I will take care of that for you”. HUH?? He came back with a birthday cupcake and sang Happy Birthday to Bill. Bill can’t blow out the candle, so Byron did it for him.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/92b66f34.jpg
I got the Angel Food Cake with fresh berries, no whipped cream. I loved it, it was light and sweet.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/2nd%20day%20DHS%20SWW/63cbb415.jpg
We decided the Backlot Tour was next. On the way we saw “Wicket’s Warehouse” that was the official location of the Star Wars merchandise. We walked through; our mission was Star Wars weekend pins. We got 2 of the 3. The 3rd one was already sold out. Bill said he is sure it will pop up on Ebay and he will get it there.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/e13582ba.jpg
Now we were off to Backlot, it was about a 10 minute wait if that. Of course I took some pics:

One the way out they have you go through an exhibit, which is villains in the movies, then you go through their gift shop. A lady walked up to Bill and said “excuse me could you tell me if you have any more of these?” She was holding a t-shirt. I got to see it in person, another guest thought Bill was a CM!! WOW, it made me feel so good that they would think he worked there. We explained he was not a CM and she said she was sorry, she thought he was. We continued walking around the shop and saw that they had mock magazine covers on the wall and could take your picture and put it on there. It was free to try it to see what it would look like. Bill picked Indy. We were both laughing and loved the picture so bought it. It was around $35, but you would have bought it too when you saw this:

Bill’s plan was to go to Fantasmic now. We were going to have to walk right past Toy Story Mania to get there. Earlier in the day we had went by and the wait was 110 minutes with no Fast Passes left. It now said 70 minutes and it was 8:40pm. I really wanted to ride it, I had been reading a lot about the accessibility of it and was eager to see this in person. I asked Bill, “How upset would you be if we went on Toy Story Mania instead of Fantasmic?” He looked a little disappointed, but said “We will be back in October and if you really want to do it, let’s go”. YAY!! This pic was taken after the ride:

In November when we were at Disney standing in lines killed me, it felt like my feet were going to explode. I would say it was because of the weight and my shoes too. This time I had no issues what so ever, I didn’t mind standing around at all. I took many, too many pictures of the queue:

We finally got up to the front and were waiting for the accessible vehicle. They informed us that there are 2 of them and it shouldn’t be that long.

The accessible vehicle moves off the main line over to the accessible loading area. Here it is:

This is the part they take out so the wheelchair can load. The colorful blocks are where they store the part when a wheelchair user is riding in the accessible vehicle:

We had an amazing time, we were laughing so much. The “gun” has a little pull string to reload. The wheelchair accessible one has that, but also has a “cheat button” on top of the gun the rider can press if they aren’t able to use the pull string. I was so happy about this because Bill can’t use his right hand. It does jerk you around a bit and spins, we loved it. We got off and couldn’t stop giggling. Here are pictures when we were exiting:

We decided it was time to leave. It was crowded, but not as bad as Epcot the night before. There was an wheelchair in front of us. Then others in wheelchairs and ECV’s came behind us. The bus driver pulled up and was starting to let people load, one of the family members went up there and said “there are ECV’s and wheelchairs here”, he said he didn’t see them?? I don’t know how he couldn’t have, but whatever. There were other CM’s helping the bus drivers that night. They loaded Bill and the bus driver was having trouble finding a place for the tie downs. I went up to Alan from Winter Park FL (according to his name tag). I said “I can show him where to put the tie downs”, Alan said “Our bus drivers are thoroughly trained on how to do that”. I said “I am sorry, but that has not been our experience here”. I went back in line, then he came over and said “ are you with him?” I said “Yes, why would I tell you I could show you where to put the tie downs if I wasn’t with him?” He said please come on the bus. I went on and showed the driver who was still having issues. The tie downs wouldn’t reach correctly, he couldn’t get the seatbelt to extent right, another CM came on the bus and showed him how to release it. So much for being thoroughly trained (Rolling eyes).
It was hot, humid, miserable, but we had an amazing time. I think we are going back next year!!
Next installment…Do we make it to Animal Kingdom?

The accessibility and the magic is what has us coming back time and time again. Bill feels that he can do things there and that makes him happy, which makes me happy.
The bus driver was just blind I guess :rotfl:. Alan, the guy "helping" the bus drivers was the donkey's behind that day.
Ugh. I'm amazed at the poopy attitudes of Disney bus drivers.
I will say that bus driver was just nervous because the equipment wasn't working right, the "helping" CM is the one with the major poopy attitude. I don't take it from any of them anymore, I dish it right back :rotfl2:.

I also would like to go to Anaheim, but Bill isn't convinced, he wants WDW only. I will keep working on him ;).

Didn't you just loooooove Toy Story? I think it was great...one of my new favs!!!
So sorry about the bus and the drivers. We had that experience while there (not us)...but with the drivers having difficulty loading wheelchairs, etc. You'd think they would be able to do it by now!

We took a couple of photopass pictures, but I didn't buy any. I am going to pre pay for one for October. That angel food cake was wonderful. I want it again!!
We're going to be pre-paying for the photopass, too. We'll be there for ten days and nights. I'm pretty sure I can rack up just a few photopass pictures in that amount of time :rolleyes1
I went to the dog site and read for an hour :rotfl:.
It can get rather addicting..... Some of the captions they add to those pictures are HILARIOUS!!!!
Glad to hear that you guys really enjoyed Toy Story Midway Mania. I'm loving your report and your pictures. Our trip is 3 1/2 months away still, but I am getting excited!

We had Pop mojo, I kept thinking about Jordan while I was at Pop and the word “mojo”. I bet I drove Bill crazy with that word, but I couldn’t help it. We had the mojo going on and it continued when I opened the door to the room:

Then I saw someone with an alcoholic slushie. I stopped her, “where did you get that?” She told me and we were on our way. I saw the $8 price tag and didn’t care, I wanted a Grey Goose slushie.

OMG, Y U M M Y!!! I wanted Bill to take a pic of me with it. HUH? Me, actually wanting a picture of myself, the booze must have been getting to my brain fast. I was acting goofy, very goofy when Bill took this:

As I was sitting there, I had to take a picture of Morocco. Yes, you see it, if anyone has read Jordan’s trip report, you will understand. I will not say the word, but you know what I was thinking when I took it. I was not being offensive, I was not being mean, I just wanted a picture of Morocco .

Hi Tracy! Somehow when I subscribed to this TR I didn't sign up for the emails... so I was pleasantly surprised to find so many updates when I poppped over to check on you today! My favorites so far... love the Pop pictures and the Epcot pix - brings back memories of my recently trip with mom. SWW looks so cool! It looks like you guys had a ton of fun! Your dessert at 50s PTC looked yummy - I'll have to remember that in the future - is it just seasonal or do they have it year round?? The Indy Bill picture is great - I totally woud have bought it too. :thumbsup2 I can't wait to ride Toy Story Mania! I hope we get to go next spring - I know we will all love it - thanks for all of the great pictures! :goodvibes

Hi Amy!! I am so glad to "see" you!! SWW was really cool, we will be going again sometime. Initially according to my DOTP = Disney Obsessive Trip Planning we were supposed to be at Animal Kingdom at rope drop. We were going to do the Nemo show, the safari, and Festival of the Lion King before going over to MK. Bill was tired when we got back to the room and we decided to sleep in until 9:30am and head over to MK instead. I couldn’t take it, by 8am I was wide awake, but laid there until 8:30am. I was full of energy this trip and didn’t want to sleep. I got up, made sure everything was put back in the suitcase we didn’t need, and made sure the backpack was ready. I got dressed and laid on top of the covers waiting for the alarm to go off. It finally did.
Bill wanted to see if we could get a reservation at Tony’s instead of the Crystal Palace one we had at 4:45pm. We had originally booked The Wave at the Contemporary, until Bill saw the menu and said “Ewww, no way”. I got on the phone, there weren’t any dinner ressies left, but there was a late lunch at 2:30pm. Bill said ok, so we booked it. I helped Bill get dressed and put the birthday button on again. For those of you counting this was the 3rd day of the birthday extravaganza. Then he said “why don’t you get some prices for the bounce back offer?” I had made my ADR’s for our October trip, but was waiting for AP with dining rates to come out to book the room.
I called, we liked the price we got and booked it. I booked Oct. 19th through Oct. 27th. (I added the 18th two days ago, because that date was not included in the future visit offer.) Ten days and 9 nights in my happy place in October that made leaving the next day just a bit easier!!
We left the room by 11:30am and the bus arrived immediately. When we were in the bus, we saw the MK sign. My heart always beats faster when I see it. We walked in and ohhhh there is the castle just where we left it in November:

It is so nice to see that they took care of it for us. We were trying to do some things we hadn’t done before and since we had never been to Toontown we decided to go there first via the train.

and went in search of the princesses. It said a 45 minute wait, but I think it was more like 30. Bill got to see Cinderella, Belle, and Aurora.

We had to look at the pins there and Bill bought a Mickey with Walt pin (that I have since stolen from him) and traded for a Mickey and Donald pin:

After that we took a stroll through Minnie’s house, it was adorable but very hot and stuffy inside. I loved the paintings there:

He had the air on, it felt much nicer in there. We didn’t get to visit him in the Judge’s tent since we had an ADR to get to. We hopped back on the train
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/4b2c703a.jpg
and were there quickly. It was the first time we had rode the train all the way around the park.
We saw Pinocchio, but the line was too long so on to Tony’s. We didn’t even have to wait 5 minutes before being seated. We came to the table and they had Mickey head confetti on it, I hadn’t said anything about Bill’s birthday, I guess the hostess saw the button.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/b19d4be3.jpg

Bill ordered the Chicken Parmesan and I got a Caesar Salad with the dressing on the side.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/b7eb0d20.jpg

He got a Coke and I got tea, it tasted a little funny to me so I ordered a diet coke. We decided to eat slowly for several of reasons.
1. It helps the digestive system
2. I was updating my trip report journal so I was writing more than eating
3. I was addressing some postcards
4. The parade was coming and we were by the windows in the restaurant
As we were sitting there by the door to the porch a visitor showed up:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/b30761a9.jpg
He decided to walk around the restaurant:

The waiters didn’t even pay attention to him. Guests next to us were not amused, their teenage daughter was scared of the duck and they left. We finally got done with our lunch and Bill ordered cheesecake, I got the seasonal sugar free Apple Sorbet. I always cut Bill’s food for him. He was killing me, making the fat girl cut the cheesecake, LOL. Cheesecake is my kryptonite. I made it through cutting it up for him, I was weak but still alive.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/710170bb.jpg

The sorbet was F A N T A S T I C. I adored it, I wanted more, I loved it. I can’t say enough about it. It was wonderful. The parade came through and we could see it very well. Then it was time to go.
We got outside and it was raining, pouring actually. We looked at one other like “oh no”. People were leaving the park in droves. We stood there trying to decide what to do.
Next installment…Do we leave too?

Hey Tracy! Just got back from a long weekend away (not Disney) and was happy to find all your updates when I returned!
The Star Wars pictures look great! I too am not a big fan (only saw one of the movies) but the pictures you took make it look like so much fun even for someone who doesn't know much about it.
How funny that so many people thought Bill was a CM! Maybe it is a sign...
Love all the pins you guys got - looks like some great ones!
Great pictures of Toy Story Midway Mania also! I'm glad you got a chance to ride it - I can't wait to ride it myself! Looks like tons of fun.

Thanks everyone for the replies and the kind words for Bill.
He went into surgery about 3pm and the doctor came out to talk to us about 4:40pm. He did not put Bill's leg into a splint, he put a cast on it. He said since Bill's leg is so little anyway, even if it did swell a bit there shouldn't be a problem. He released some tendons, he reattached one and put a screw in to keep it in place right now. He let Bill come home which was a surprise.
While he was in surgery, Bill's mom and I took advantage of the walking paths the hospital had and we walked a mile and a half. We got home about 7:30, Bill's parents left about 8:30pm. Bill is sleeping thankfully.

We were standing there on the porch at Tony’s watching all these people leave. A lady was trying to figure out where the Crystal Palace was and asked me if I knew. YAY!! I got to play park guide. It was fun.
Did we leave the park?? HECK NO, go people, leave, keep walking, it will probably rain all day, don’t stay here – insert evil laugh – it will make short lines for us :thumbsup2 . The rain let up, Bill didn’t even want the poncho. We were going to Adventureland. I had a mission to go by Aloha Isle and see if a CM was working. I read the “Love ya, Mean it” blog done by Delswife – Robin. It is hilarious, if you haven’t read any of her trip reports or her blog, I highly recommend it. Well, her husband Del works at Aloha Isle (or so I thought), I was going to see about getting a Delwhip aka Dole whip from him at some point in the day. It was not meant to be, I didn’t see him :confused3. I think he working in another part of the park now. I have to email her and see before we go in October. It would be great to meet her, she is a fantastic writer.
On the way over the bridge we saw Timon and Rafiki. Bill wanted a picture. As soon as we got in line, it started pouring again. Thank goodness we were under a roof.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/d16dc15c.jpg

Bill got to meet the guys and we stood out of the way, the rain slowed a bit and Bill said to put the poncho on him and we could continue on. We decided to go see the Tiki Birds, I know Buzz said it was not worth seeing, but we were doing things we hadn’t done before.
We made our way over there watching more people look like they were leaving the park. We just smiled at each other and kept going. We just missed the start of a show and they let us in the waiting area. Wheelchair accessible location:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/01c68b1b.jpg
We were right in front of the waterfall and the “fire” on the left was out, but we could smell the gas coming from it.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/dfbb544c.jpg
Bill and I were joking about being blown up at the Tiki preshow and how that would be a good trip report installment if we lived through it (yes we are twisted, you should know that by now). A CM walked by and I told her we could smell it, she said they had called someone, but they hadn’t arrived yet. About 2 minutes later a maintenance guy shows up and does something really high tech to get the fire started. He used a portable blow torch :rotf: it flared right up, we were safe!!
We went in and watched the show. Bill and I kept looking at one another like “ are you seeing what I am seeing?” We didn’t regret going, but we won’t be back any time soon. We then went toward the Jungle Cruise, a CM from London was directing us to the right and then I saw the sign showing a wheelchair and pointing left. I said “shouldn’t we go in the wheelchair line”, he said “oh yeah, yes you should”. DUH! We walked up and the wheelchair boat was being unloaded and we were the only ones in that line, it was a walk on.
Here are wheelchair boat pics. I will be starting a thread on the Disabilities forum and putting all these accessible pictures from our trip:

My pictures of the ride came out blurry so sorry, no Jungle cruise pics. Here is Bill coming off the boat. He is such a trooper in is poncho! Look at how soaked that one CM is.

In the past, we had skipped the Haunted Mansion for two reasons, I was worried about transferring him and I was worried about my weight, I was worried about fitting. Well I told Bill I thought we should go to the Haunted Mansion. His face lit up and said “are you sure?” I said “yes, this is your birthday trip and I want it to be a great time for you”. So we made our way over there.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/f464a403.jpg
Wait time for the Haunted Mansion? 10 minutes!! We just kept walking through the queue to the wheelchair turn off. We waited for a hostess and followed her through the corridors. I transferred Bill and off we went on our haunted ride. We really liked this ride, I was surprised by the backwards part, lol. The hitchhiking ghost part was funny. Bill really had fun, I am glad I did it.
Next installment…Is it still raining? Is it time to leave?

It's great to hear that Bill's up and around, without too much pain, so soon after surgery. Maybe some of the thoughts, prayers and pixie dust pixiedust: are working for him??

OK I must be missing a few years of Delswife stories because the last I knew she was delivering pizza in Maine...they moved to FL????
We went in and watched the show. Bill and I kept looking at one another like “ are you seeing what I am seeing?” We didn’t regret going, but we won’t be back any time soon.
When you go to Disneyland in California please see the Tiki Birds there. It's the original show and much better then MK's version.

He must have gone to training with your bus driver.

Do you have to tranfer Bill while you are on the moving walk way? :scared1: I'm hoping that how the Imagineers built the accessible seats at Toy Story Midway Mania is how they will do it from now on with new rides.
I can't wait to see the improvements at the HM in October when we go.
Happy 4th of July Tracy and Bill !!

Thank you so much, he has only had 3 Advil today and has sat up in his chair for about 4 hours, he is such a trooper. I definately think the thoughts, prayers, and pixie dust helped. Thank you all again for being such wonderful people.

Yes, I didn't know it until recently. Google "delswife", from there you should be able to find her website, go there and there should be a link to her blog :thumbsup2.

I don't know if I will ever get Bill to Disneyland :confused3.
He must have gone to training with your bus driver. I swear he looked like he had never seen a wheelchair before.

Bill needs custom made rain gear for him and his wheels... I actually had the poncho on him a lot better than that picture, his "wild thing" arm was not happy about being covered up and started a revolt :rotfl:.
Do you have to tranfer Bill while you are on the moving walk way? :scared1: No, they stop the walkway, which is why sometimes when you are on the ride it stops.
I'm hoping that how the Imagineers built the accessible seats at Toy Story Midway Mania is how they will do it from now on with new rides.
I think they will if there aren't any backwards, tipping etc on a ride, it has made going so much more fun since he can actually enjoy the rides.
I can't wait to see the improvements at the HM in October when we go. I never saw it before so I don't have a clue what the improvements were :rotfl2:. I had a great time though.

Bill's parents were really touched when I told them about all of the thoughts and prayers coming Bill's way. He is feeling a lot better, he has not had any pain meds besides advil since 8:30 last night, and is currently up in his wheelchair online :rotfl:.

Looks like a great afternoon in the Magic Kingdom even with the rain! We spent a morning at MK in the pouring rain once and had a blast. We were drenched but the park was empty and we made the best of it.
Glad to hear how well Bill is doing. I hope you both have a fabulous 4th of July!!

A hurricane would have to come through to get us to leave. We exited Haunted Mansion and it was just sprinkling. It was Fantasyland time, where to go now? I want to hear “It’s a Small World After All” 5000 times, yes I do. It was a walk on again. Thank you rain. Bill and I thought it was cute. Why did I take many pictures here? Please explain it to me?
Wheelchair accessible Small World Boat:

I will only torture you with a couple of the billion pictures I took while on the ride:

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/cdc9b5e9.jpg
Look Ed, a chicken, I took that just for you!!

We then watched Donald Duck mess up Mickey’s Philharmagic. We always try to see this show, we think it is so cute and I love watching people reach out trying to touch the characters. Next up – Pooh!! We decided to walk by the castle first, by the time we got over by Winnie I remembered we were close to Ariel’s Grotto. Bill needed to see her too, I had a scrapbook page with Ariel and needed some pics. I like the spongy flooring they have over there, it was fun to walk across.
The character handler CM that was at the back of the line wished Bill a Happy Birthday. Ariel would only be there for about 30 more minutes, but the line didn’t look too long and it was moving. So we went in line, we were there about 3 minutes when the handler came over to us and said “follow me”. We looked at the other people around us thinking she was talking to them. She giggled and said “no, you two”. We looked back at her, she said “you aren’t in trouble, follow me”. I told her we had no problem waiting in line and she said “let me do this for you”. She opened a gate and we went with her. She took us though the part where the kids play in the water and we ended up at the exit for Ariel’s Grotto.
So Bill got to meet Ariel, she told him to take care of his princess, and I took pictures.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/74983e45.jpg

(I just realized on the trip no one thought I was his mom or his caregiver, I have moved up to "his princess" status - YAY!!)
I felt bad about them pulling us from the line. The handler assured me everyone that was in line was going to see Ariel before she left for the day. Now it was time for Winnie the Pooh, I had read that they had an accessible ride vehicle. We got there and the ride was broken down, no Pooh for us!!
We walked through the castle and I took pictures of the murals. I wonder how long it took them to do that? It was beautiful and I want to go back there and spend more time just staring at them.

We decided to find a quiet place and call Bill’s dad for Father’s Day. We went to the benches right outside the first aid station.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/25291e84.jpg
It was time to go to Tomorrowland. We wanted to do Buzz Lightyear, it was only a 20 minute wait (I really think it was shorter than that). We went to get in line and the CM told us to go through the Fast Pass lane to get to the wheelchair loading. There was no one in the FP lane and in a minute we were at the front of the line. I took off Bill’s tray and his foot rests, but it was still a tight fit. His joystick was the problem, but they squished him in there, lol. We had fun again, laughing and trying to hit the targets, we are both horrible at it, but that doesn’t matter. The ride was over and the CM said, “no one is waiting for the WC car, do you want to do again?” YES, we said. We didn’t do any better that time, we admit it we are awful at it. We talk too much and giggle to much to be serious about scoring.
It was almost 9pm at this point and we went to get our Extra Magic Hours bracelets, then we went to Cosmic Ray’s. Bill got chicken strips and I got a grilled chicken sandwich, can you believe I didn’t take a picture :sad2: ? Me either. We stopped by Star Traders to get some stamps and then made our way to Main Street to see Wishes. I could watch this every night and never get sick of it. I love this show. One of my favorite parts is to see the kids pointing and saying “Tinkerbell” when she is flying out of the castle. Here is my attempt at taking fireworks pictures.

We made our way through the crowd to Liberty Square to get ready for the second Spectromagic of the night. We were the only ones in that wheelchair section until about 5 minutes before the parade. This is one of Bill’s favorite things at MK.

I had never seen this before, have you? Sorry the pictures is blurry, but I just was surprised to see it.
We made our way back to the Pop bus area. There weren’t too many people there and we were on a bus in no time. We felt so sad, the trip was much too short.
Next installment…Leaving our happy place
Tracy, awesome installment! The one thing we didn't get to do on our last trip (first trip for the kids) was the parades/fireworks. I can't wait to go again and see them! My younger daughter and I rode that double decker bus up to the castle one day...I remember the cool horn and a very cheerful driver that said hello to everyone! Thanks for bringing back that memory!

Can you belive I've never seen Wishes? Another thing for my must do list.
Love the Spectro pictures - that is one of my favorite things in all of the world. I always get teary eyed during that parade.

You must see Wishes, between the music, Jiminy Cricket talking, and the fireworks I get all misty eyed and get goosebumps. The first time I saw it tears came down my cheeks. I couldn't believe my reaction. I guess it was because it made it real to me that I was actually there. I love Wishes .

As for the married part, it would mess up any medical benefits he is currently receiving. So for right now we are content being like one of Bill's fave rockers Gene Simmons - "happily unmarried".

Hey Tracy. Somehow I lost your link to your PTR and the link to this in your siggie was just bringing me back to your other TR so I searched your name and VOILA!!! I'm here!!!
I know this makes both you and Bill so happy that you just jumped for joy and Bill cut some wheelies for me!!!:thumbsup2 Thank you Bill I know you got our back!!!:rotfl:
I've missed ya'll and been wondering how ya'll were! I am so glad I am finally back online and catch up!!!
I thought of Bill and his post to me that time about how his parents helped him do things e wanted as he grew up and we are so excited. We found Braeton a twist car for his Birthday. He wants to ride a bike so bad but he cannot pedal believe me we have tried a gazillion ways and things. Anyway it's a car that doesn't use pedals or a motor you twist the steering wheel right left, right, left and it goes! It's just awesome and it helps work on his Balance. It holds up to over 200 lbs so Yep I have crawled up on it and down the street I went. My knees were up to my chin but it was SOOOO fun! Anyway Braeton is so proud of his car bike as he calls it!
I have just started reading this but I will catch up. Bill looks great and the pics of him at the car wash had me cracking up!!! I will NOT let Braeton see that or he will really want to try it!!
Tracy you look great! I saw your pic at the end of your PTR!! Way to Go!! Although you were beautifull before, I am so glad that you are happy and feeling good!!
Sorry to take over, it's just been so long since I got to catch up with you guys!! I think of ya'll lots and I am going to try to catch up tonight because I have got to see if Bill has had his surgery yet or not. I can't remember the dates!!

I loved the sentance about being Bill's Princess, I think it suits you :goodvibes
Hi Jo, thank you, it made me all smiles and giggles when she said it :rotfl:.
Thanks for the shout out Tracy!! Bills hug was great!! Tell him thanks! ;)
I already replied to this installment elsewhere! :goodvibes maybe I`ll do every other...:lmao:
Hi, I saw that chicken and said "I have to take a picture for Ed". Bill said your welcome. Thanks for replying both places :goodvibes.
I thought I already posted, but it doesn't seem to be here...
Great updates! I love the tile mosaics under the castle - I've never had a chance to look at them before my April trip.
Bill - Glad to hear your surgery went well and that you are feeling pretty good. :goodvibes
Hi Amy, I love mosaics too. Bill is feeling wonderful, he is going back to work tomorrow.
I am glad Bill did so well with his surgery. I was away all weekend and just got caught up on your Trippie! Looks like a great day in MK and I love the picture of Bill and the Big Bad Wolf. You pictures of the fireworks came out good.
Hope you had a great 4th!
I love the interaction he gets at Spectro. I am really trying to get better with the pictures.
Great pictures and installment. Glad he's doing well! Is it just me, or does Bill's "wild thing" arm look like it's trying to behave around Ariel. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
Hi Hedy, you are so right about Bill's arm, he usually tries to keep it under control around the characters :rotfl2:.

I have never heard of twist cars before. I am so happy Braeton has that. Please post a pic of it here or on your TR, I would love to see it.
Thanks for the compliments. I am really trying. You didn't take over, I love hearing from you.

We were up at 9am, packed and out the door by 10:30am. We went to the food court, Bill wanted pancakes with topping, sorry I cut them up before taking the picture:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/e1e368c8.jpg
I got a yogurt parfait and a fruit cup.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/82528594.jpg
I was not fond of the yogurt parfait at all, so I just ate the fruit cup. It was as great as the first one. We are sitting there and Bill says, “I think we can swing coming back to Super Soap Weekend, can you see how much a room only is?” I looked at him like his was nuts for about 10 seconds then I was getting the phone out of the backpack. Disney is my crack, I admit it. So 17 days after we get back from our October trip we scheduled Disney again for 5 days 4 nights. Only 3 nights were available for the bounce back so we will be adding one more day. The November trip would not have the dining. We would do counter services and one or two table services thrown in there. So in 2 days I booked two trips.
Yes, we are crazy, no we aren’t going to change.
We decided to go wait outside for our Magical Express bus, someone was getting flowers:

A bus arrived promptly at 12:45pm, one of the Cruise busses:

The driver said he wasn’t informed he had a special needs passenger. It was noted on our reservation, I don’t know why he didn’t know it. It took him 15 minutes to load Bill.

We got to MCO and the security line went fast, they let me go with Bill through the process. When we went to check the wheelchair, we were told our 3:55 flight was delayed until 4:10pm. Not a big deal at all. We got Bill’s gummy bears and went to sit down. We got to see a huge thunderstorm come through and 4:10 came and went. Our plane was coming from Rhode Island and got diverted to Jacksonville, FL.
It was before 3:30pm and it looked like this. Where is the Florida sunshine?
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/9abe9255.jpg
It finally showed up and we took off at 6:10pm. It was an uneventful flight, we slept though most of it. It was really easy finding baggage claim in Nashville and we even found the van on the first try. It was also very easy to get out of the airport parking lot and on our way. We got home around 11pm. We both got on the computer, LOL and then went to bed.
I took Bill to work at 9am and picked up Ace at 9:30am. He was wiggling so much they couldn’t get the collar on him, I had to do it. We got home he grabbed a toy played with it for about 10 minutes then did this:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/8effe27b.jpg
Then he sighed, moaned, and changed positions:

There was a ton of dog hair on the couch when I took that picture wasn't there? Please excuse it. He is a shedder no matter what we do, we love him so we put up with it.
We were back in Illinois and life went on, just counting the days until we are “home” again. For the record right now it is 101 http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/0492.gifhttp://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/0492.gif.
Epilogue:
We decided not to keep the November trip. There was a little thing called “family obligations” to consider and my sanity too. So we are going back in March for ESPN weekend and then SWW again http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/laugh-4.gif. Am I trying to make myself completely sick of DHS or what?
Bill’s parents have spent almost a year and a ton of money building their vacation/rental home and his Mom is chomping at the bit to have us come there. They have even installed an elevator so that Bill can go between the two floors without having to go outside an up the sidewalk. Here is a picture of what it looked like so far in May:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/Oct%202008%20pre%20trip%20stuff/img_2155_edited.jpg
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/Oct%202008%20pre%20trip%20stuff/img_2196.jpg
It was decided when they were here for Bill’s surgery that we would go to Sevierville, TN in either August or September. They also want us there for Christmas. This means right now we have scheduled:
August 31st : WWE wrestling Super Show (Ugh, what I do for my man) staying the night up in St. Louis
August or September: Visiting his parents at their vacation home in Tennessee
October 17th – 27th: The 17th is to stay all night to take the first flight out of St. Louis to go to DISNEY WORLD for Ip-Dip and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
December (not sure of the date yet): Visiting his parents at their vacation home in Tennessee for Christmas for a week probablyEach one of these trips require our sweet little Acey to be boarded, they need a frequent boarder plan, we could sure use it this fall. I don’t know about any of you, but we don’t have money trees here, so unless:
The price of gas went down http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/laugh-4.gif
I won the lottery (which I never play) http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/wonapple_ticket.png
Disney released some amazing room/dining and/or AP codes http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/mrskenchanted/WDW%20June%202008/3rd%20Day%20MK%20and%20departure/fwp-smiley-09.gif
OR a miracle happenedWe had to let the November trip go. The plans had to change. No matter what we will be at Disney in October using those wonderful AP’s. We are currently working on a friend to get her to go with us. She has never been to Disney, really wants to go and she could help me transfer Bill onto rides that I couldn’t transfer him on myself. We will see. She has confirmed as of today that she is going. I have redone all the ADR’s so she better go or I will have a heart attack.
Thank you all one last time for reading my crazy ramblings. Until we meet again take care.

OMG!! That place is beautiful!!!!! Then again, I love that part of the country. If I had my choice, I'd live there. Right next to Bill's parents! The only problem with a gorgeous house like that -- it usually comes with a horrendous road up to it. You gotta get to the top of the mountain somehow, to get those spectacular views.
That house also looks a lot like one my BIL helped build. That's what he does in North Carolina. This one was being built in August 2003...

I did it! I just finished yet another AMAZING trip report! There's so much to comment on, but since I came a little too late, I'll just keep it to a minimum.
Tracy, congrats a million times on the weight loss. You look absolutely gorgeous. Your dedication is an inspiration to me. It was good to see you in some of the pics this time, and I'm hoping there'll be even more of the even less of you in the October report!
Bill, I'm hoping that my belated wishes for a successful recovery finds you happy and well. You also are quite photogenic. I'm a huge Star Wars fan too and have been playing around with the idea of a Star Wars weekend visit myself....love the Stitch as Yoda pin!
Thank you both for posting about travelling to the World with disabilities. BF and I have a September trip planned (how I wish it was October so we could meet! But free dining is calling....) and we've decided to be a little more adventurous. We're not going to let a little apprehension about wheelchair boarding stop us. And we're so excited for Toy Story! Last year, the CMs maneuvered BF's chair onto the rides---are they still doing that? I'd rather the CMs do it, I'm a terrible driver (don't tell anyone though!).
You do have me scared about using the buses, though.
You both deserved the multitudes of pixie dust you received on this trip. We're staying at Pop (our first onsite visit) next time and it was good to see pics of your room. Hey, maybe we'll get the same one!
Until your next trip report, best wishes and wonderful joy to both of you. Looking forward to the next report--are you doing a pre-trippie again? Or just the we-just-got-back-look-at-my-amazing-pictures one again?
And poor Ace, so tired from missing his parents. I hope they gave you super extra loving.

I am glad that things I have posted could help you. I can't tell you about the CM's maneuvering the chair, Bill's is power so I don't have to touch it, thank goodness, I am terrible at driving it when I have to use the joystick to move it.
Don't be scared about the buses. Just get to the marked areas, make sure the drivers see you, and keep a magical attitude no matter what.
I think you will enjoy Pop, we really like it. I am doing a pre trippie, you know I can't shut up about Disney :lmao:. I might start it tonight or tomorrow. Ace gets so much attention when we get home, I think he gets sick of me picking him up and hugging him:rotfl2:.
You really packed a lot in a short trip! Isn't it fun to eat new places and do new things?!? That is one of the things that keeps me going back!
Hi Piper, I am subscribed to your tr, I will be replying tonight, doesn't that make you happy :rotfl:? Thank you so much for reading along. It was fun to eat at new places.
I am sad that your Trippie has come to an end but I looking forward to your October trip. Looks like you have a very busy late summer and fall but that is good b/c then your trip next year for ESPN weekend will come that much faster!
Are you going to do a Pre-Trippie for the October trip??? :thumbsup2
~Kerri Lee
Hi Kerri Lee. I am sad the trippie has ended too, that is why I am doing a pre trippie sometime this week for the new trip :lmao:. I like your thinking about the time going faster!!

Last year, the CMs maneuvered BF's chair onto the rides---are they still doing that? I'd rather the CMs do it, I'm a terrible driver (don't tell anyone though!).
For the rides with a wheelchair car, the CMs will manouver a manual wheelchair onto the ride car if the guest in the wheelchair can't do it. Often, the other passengers need to enter the ride car first and the wheelchair is loaded last. So, the only person left to put it on is the CM. For the rare one where you would need to push it on, the CM will tell you just what to do.
For rides that don't have a wheelchair accessible car, the guest/companion needs to manouver the wheelchair. Some guests need the wheelchair almost touching the ride car, some will need it farther away, some want it parked right next to the ride car facing in the same direction, while some might want to park it at a 90 degree angle. Since the CMs don't know how each guest needs it placed for boarding, the guest needs to put it where they need it. After the guest has boarded, the CM will move it out of the way.

Thanks Jen!! I didn't not like the Tiki Room, but didn't love it either, I am glad we went though. I did love the Haunted Mansion, I can't wait to ride that again because I was more worried about Bill instead of paying attention to the ride :rotfl:. I can't wait to get back, 94 days  .

Thanks for this very detailed report and all the pictures. It has been great getting to know you and Bill through this report.
We are making our first trip back to WDW in 9 years. My son who will be 11 years old when we make the trip at the end of next June has Cerebral Palsy. He can walk short distances with foot and ankle orthotics, but is in the process of getting a power chair. We have been a little bit apprehensive about making the trip to WDW with what will be his new power chair. This board and your trip report, along with all the pictures have allayed many of our fears.
We have a room booked at Wilderness Lodge, 6/19-6/26, but I am still concerned about the amount of space in the room and if his Power Chair will fit. I just booked a typical room without Handicap Access, as I thought he could get out of the chair and walk around the room, but now I am concerned if there will be enough space for all three of us, our luggage and his chair. We were also contemplating bringing his manual chair incase there was an issue with the power chair. Is this overkill?
