I just noticed that the points are ALOT higher on the western than the eastern caribbean. Anyone know why? The price from disney is the same for both. We are going on the western anyhow but I was just wondering.

I assume you are speaking of the DVC points. I think there was a good answer to this in that forum (although I noticed another question you posted was booted to another forum).

I think it is because of supply and demand. There is going to be a higher demand of the Western cruise by previous and new DCL cruisers.

I will probably never use DVC points for anything other than DVC vacations, because that is what the program is tooled for. If I am not going to WDW (HH or VB), then I *might*, but have always found paying cash for non-DVC vacations to be better.

While being able to use points outside of DVC is nice, it should not be the reason to join DVC.

He said that typically a new cruise itinerary will almost always call for more $$$, especially for the first couple of years, because it is a new route. I will probably wait before i book the western, and hopefully it will come down in price....
