Cash Reservation- dumb question

I'm thinking about getting my two missing days in Dec via a cash reservation as I'm don't think the waitlist will work.

Could I make the reservations and then cancel if the waitlist came through?

What is the best way to make a cash reservation (best meaning, lowest cost)? Thru DVC member services or directly with CRO?

whoa! Nevermind. l just looked up a reservation on-line. The rack rate is over $2,100 for two nights in a 2br at OKW. Forget that! I was prepared to pay up to $500 a night but holy cow!
