We are two parties of 4 however, we have several dinners booked together either at a table of 8 or two tables of 4. Since 4 meals will be charged to one room and 4 to another how does the tip work.

If it is an automatic tip will the amount be for 4 or for 8.

For example:

the total for one party is 100.00
will the tip be 20.00

or

the total for both parties is 200.00
will the tip be 40.00

Just wondering how it works because if it comes and the automatic gratuity is 40.00 can you charge 20.00 to each room.

I assume that the automatic gratuity would be presented for each party and be based on what the total was for that party of 4. Example: If each bill was 100.00 then each party would have the 20.00 added on their bill.

I hope you can make sense of this.

If you have 6 or more at the table you will be charged 18%.

No matter how you pay. No matter how many checks. No matter if #6 is a sleeping baby.

Yes, tip is automatic. Each party's tip will be included on their respective receipts.

Using your example, with the eight people spending $200 total:

Party A spends $100; party B spends $100: Each party's service charge will be $18; $18+$18=$36
Party A spends $120; party B spends $80: Party A's s/c will be $21.60, party B's will be $14.40; $21.60+$14.40=$36
Party A spends $150; party B spends $50: Party A's s/c will be $27, party B's will be $9; $27+$9=$36

If all eight of you are seated at one table, the automatic service charge applies.
If you have one reservation but are seated at two tables but have the same server, ditto.
If you have one reservation and are seated at two tables and have two different servers, you are considered two parties and, as long as neither table exceeds five diners... you get to determine the tip!
