Hi! 14 days to go! YIPPY! I was thinking about faxing a request for Cabanas 8A since it's closest to the Dig Site (provided it's a quiet building). Is it a two storey or three storey building? We would like a two storey building. Does this exist: a two-storey building, quiet, close to the Dig Site, quiet pool and Pepper Market! LOL! I don't ask for much do I? LOL again! Thanks! Sandra

Hi SandraC,

Have seen any questions from you in a while. All the Cabanas are 2 story buildings. The 9a is closest to the quiet pool, 9b is closest to the main building and a little bridge that brings you to the Dig Site, 8a is closest to the Dig Site and the bus stop and 8b is in between 8a and 9a. 9b may be an option for you too. Check out the map at my site.

Have a great trip! 27 more days for me!!!

Sandra

I will also be staying at CSR in October. Remember to tell us all the good things when you come back!! Have a wonderful vacation! :D

Mario

How are you? Is room request for CSR necessary? I have asked for a non-smoking, king bed room. So, I don't know whether that we limit my option in terms of room.

Thanks.

:D

Hi Jean,

I'm getting excited because we're down to 27 days or so until we'll be at CSR. Starting to pack up our summer clothing!!!

I usually tell CRO what kind of room we are looking for at time of booking and then I do fax in the request 5 days prior to arrival. So say it's not necessary but it can't hurt.

As far as limiting you selection, king bed rooms are in each section of the resort so you shouldn't end up with one section and left wanting another unless all the king bed rooms in a certain section are booked. I guess it comes down to which you want more, a king bed or a certain section.

LOL! You are all too funny! For our April 2001 trip I started counting 400 days prior to the trip! LOL!

I find once you are at 2 months before trips the time really flies!

The planning part is almost as much fun for me as the GOING part.

This trip (13 days now!) seems extra special for some reason. I think it's because the WHOLE family got behind it. In previous years dd and dh didn't care about the DISNEY part of the vacation, they liked the VACATION part! As long as there was a pool and no work, they were happy. But I think last years trip changed all that. We stayed on site for the first time. That alone propelled them into being DISNEYFIED! 7 Day HP passes and using all days was great too. It allowed us total DISNEY. Lots of characters meals and got to do and see EVERYTHING. This trip April 2002, we are staying 10 nights and using all days on 7 DHP and options with intentions of spending more time resting at the resort, CSR this year, CBR last year. I have Q-cards with daily plans (did they last year too) with intentions of tossing the Q-cards for spontaneous FUN! That worked great last year. I booked our PS which made planning easy, oiur Cindy's PS meant MK day, etc.,. But we also tossed the Q-cards sometimes for other things we wanted to do. Like MK 4 times!!!!!

Tonight, I visited the in-laws over and we are making MEXICAN food and talking about Disney to get ready for ouir CSR stay!

Mario, your site is amazing, thanks for all your great work and advice! This morning, my whole family got around the computer and looked at your site! BTW, which building do you like the best and why? THX! Sandra

Sandra - we love cabana 8a the best. We love being close to the Dig Site. Our last room we just walked out our door and walked about 50 steps to the steps of the Dig Site. We were so tired at night, I don't remember any noise. I now you would ask me that next. We don't mind the 5 minute (if that) walk to the main building. We like to walk after our meals. It is also very close to the bus stop which is great after a long day at the parks. We just love CSR. It was our first ever experience at WDW and have never forgotten it.

Bedknobbery - I wish I'd know at the Foxwoods meet that you were staying at CSR. I would have talked to you more about it. It's a great resort. You'll have a great time.

I went over the map with dh today. I think we'll request Cabanas 8A too. Being close to the Dig Site is way more important to us than the restaurants. Only 5 minutes? We can handle that ~ we stayed in Aruba in CBR last year and it was a 7-10 minute walk to the OPR. I have been eating out of control!!!!!! No way to take off 8 pounds in 13 days! LOL! Chat soon! Thanks, Sandra

Buzz,

I didn't know until this morning that we'd be staying at CSR! When the new discount codes came out, I tacked on another 3 days to our vaca, and initially made ressies at AKL. After reading that the standard rooms there had terrible views/noise problems, and after looking at other options with my kids, we decided to switch to CSR instead. I'm really excited--its one of the resorts I knew virtually nothing about until yesterday. It looks fabulous, and my kids are extremely excited about the Dig Site!

BK- I bet they'll love the DIg Site. My DD does. Check out my site after I return in May. I will have many new photos of CSR.

I hope your trip is great!

Hey Buzz, we are going to CSR 6/22 - can't wait. I was undecided at first as to whether to switch to PO-FQ as I heard so many good things about it but I stayed with CSR and I'm very happy I did. My dd8 is really excited about the pool and the resort looks very beautiful. I also requested 8a and was wondering where I can find a fax # to fax in a request. I was told by a CRO that I didn't need to fax a request if I already put in request over the phone. Is that right?

Thanks for the great website and I'll be sure to check out your new pic's after you return. :)

I don't think you have to fax anymore, but just be aware that even if you request a certain section, you may not get it. We requested Cabanas 8A, and ended up in Casitas 2. Still wonderful, but not nearly as convenient.

brenda - i just requested anywhere in the cabanas (preferably one of the nines).

what were the casitas like?

dh and i would really prefer the cabanas, but i know it's going to be crowded then, so we'll take whatever they give us. :)

Well I really hope we can get into the cabanas since I've had my request in from the beginning but I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway. I really don't want to stay near El Centro due to the conventioneers which is why I was hesitant about CSR in the first place. I hope it works out now that we've got our heart set on CSR!!!

The Casitas were gorgeous - lots of little courtyards with fountains, topiary, just very pretty. The buildings were 3 & 4 stories high, and I don't think any of the rooms had a bad view.

I think the reason that we ended up in Casitas was because we had requested connecting rooms, and I wanted to make sure they knew that while we preferred Cabanas, the connecting rooms were more important to us than the room location itself.

We were very pleased, and wouldn't hesitate to ask for Casitas next time!

Even though the Casitas are closer to El Centro, they were wonderful. The conventioneers were just guests, wandering around in suits, so it really didn't make any difference to us at all. I've heard people voice concern over the conventions at CSR, but I've never really understood what the problem was. We didn't notice any difference in the level of service at all, and we were quite pleased.

Last year I faxed a room request to CBR, I was very specific:

Newer rehab (only a couple villages were finished at the time).
Second floor (no newts)
Corner (two views)
Near the pool.

I got exactly what I asked for! YIPPY!

I just called CRO and requested Cabanas 8A, but nothing else. I think I will still fax my additional requests 4 days prior to arrivial. I still like the second floor and corner rooms. I think I'll ask they we not face towards the Dig Site to cut down on any possible noise. How does that sound? Sandra

The Coronado Springs Hotel is located at: 1000 West Buena Vista Drive; Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-1000; Telephone: (407) 939-1000; Fax: (407) 939-1001

I always fax the request 5 days prior to arrival. I also request 2 or 3 rooms listed in order of preference. Anywhere in the cabanas section is nice. 8a is just closest to the pool.

Sandra, you probably got your requests granted because the whole front desk cracked up at "no newts." I bet you were the first "no newts" requester they ever had.

Dude, can't newts climb the stairs?

Hardy Har har! LOL! You guys are too funny. I knew the second I typed NEWTS I'd be in for it. LOL!

Last year I saw one of those little critters climb into the air conditioning unit of a first floor room at CBR. YIKES! I'd be spending my vacation on standing on a chair in the room! dh likes is as funny as you all do. dh wonders why I fear the newts but no the GIANT MOUSE running the place ! Sandra

Sandra - CSR has central air so you won't have to stand on a chair unless you leave your door open. No wall a/c's. Now you can request that 1st floor room

wow....three pages on question about CSR. I though no body likes CSR besides Mario and myself.

for those who have stayed at CSR,

How bad/good is Rancho comparing to Casitas and Cabana?
I saw pictures of the beautiful fountains at Casitas. Also, Cabana has been everyone's fav. Comparing to those, Rancho looks like a nobody's land. The decor looks like a desert, too.......... Just for those reason, I really don't want to stay in Rancho. However, my life has been pretty much governed by "murphy's rule." So, I need to prepare myself just incase I get Rancho.

Thanks.

I have really enjoyed all the pictures I have seen of CSR. All the Buildings look fabulous! I would be happy in any of them, BUT since WDW seems so accomodating, I go thru my list of *nice to have things* the top of our list is close to the Dig Site. Although, last year we stayed at CBR in Aruba and it was a 7 minute walk to the main pool and we still really enjoyed that! I also like Cabanas because it is two stories, reminds me of CBR, again, which we loved very much. I am sure we will enjoy CSR. I thank you all for your wonderful comments, yes yes yes, even the cute little ha ha's about the scary newts.

Can you hear upstairs neighbours stomping from the first floor? I might adjust my request of room as follows:

Corner Room
First floor
Not the closest rooms to the Dig Site
Cabanas 8A

What do you think? I am going for noisy factor ~ LOL ~ dh thinks we are the noisy ones! Sandra

Buzz2001
04-09-2002, 05:41 AM
The only time I can remember hearing noise is when someone walks by the door/window. But I never experienced any rude guests making noise late at night in front of the doors or walkways leading to the doors.
